1, 3, 23, 24, and 25 for the end of year asks??

1. favorite fic you wrote this year

Another fic that I had a lot of fun writing was Oh, the things we could do (to see this thing through)

Just doing something fluffy and carefree, and honestly pretty darn self-indulgent was a wonderful break from some of the more stressful constraints and elements of the game. It was also an excuse to see what the potential dynamic between Hana, Sharky ,and John post-game would be like, let them all be silly a bit, and uh, also get busy. Not that I wrote it specifically for that purpose, because I didn’t, but it wasn’t a deterrent. XD

But the process of writing it was almost a breeze. I think I was able to bang it out in a little under two weeks due to how well the dialogue and ideas were playing out, and the first real idea for it was jotted haphazardly onto my cellphone right after one of my night labs at the school. I remember walking out to my car around 10:30 PM just typing away at it, and hoping I’d be able to do something with it the next day. The answer was luckily enough, a yes. :D

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year

I’ve always really enjoyed this part in You won’t be the one:

“John. Don’t get all heavy on me here. One silo’s not going to bring the sky down on our heads, and the explosion’s just so damn pretty to watch.” He went silent, long enough for her to think he’d disconnected, and Hana held her ear up to the radio. “John?”

 “…Am I a joke to you? Some petty amusement?”

She sighed dramatically. “Well-”

“Come to me then. Sit with me, challenge me like I know you want to - like I want you to - and I will open you up,” he said, drawing out each word slowly. Deliberately. “Peeling away those layers, spilling all of those thoughts, desires, and secrets you keep close and hidden, tucked away from everyone, out in the open for all to see. And if you still challenge me then, I’ll peel away another layer. And another. By then you might even beg me to. Would I be more than a fucking joke to you then?”

Her eyes were locked on the radio, every part of her dumbstruck. John didn’t wait for a response to that on her end either, deciding to keep on going.

“Because you continue to play at this and laugh. Like it’s a game meant to entertain you. With every action you take, you only make things worse for them.” He was close enough to the radio on his end now for her to catch every shift in every word. “You hurt them, you bring this pain upon them, every last bit of their suffering when all they want is to be saved. You know what to do to end this! To confess, to give me the one answer I seek. Will you?”

He’d thrown her, had actually done it, but that still didn’t change her answer. “No.”

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t 

Way too many. More Sharky fic for sure, shoot, more ideas with Faith and her region, and I hope to visit more of that next year. I’d also love to finally tackle the ‘we’re taking the statue down’ fic I’ve been meaning to write, because I left a giant narrative gap there in Hana’s series and I should really go back and formally write that out.

24. favorite fic you read this year

Hmm… One that I absolutely loved upon first reading it was @seedlingsinner‘s What a Wicked Thing to Do.

I don’t actually read a lot of soulmate fic, but this entry was a punch to the gut. I was thinking about it long after I read it, and the realization of the bond as well as the fallout afterwards were so wonderfully written I was a little sad to reach the end of it.

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

Well, shoot. This is going to be more of an author recommendation, but I’d have to highly recommend anything @amistrio‘s written. If you love character exploration, scenes that pack some serious emotional punches, and characters you’ll get more than a little soft for (I’m looking at you, Matt) you won’t be disappointed. I’ve read chapters before only to pause, check the clock, and be shocked at how much time has passed, because the pull of the story is just that damn strong.

excommunication is the new black - FC5 - is an intense, and I mean intense character study of John that follows most of the game’s events leading up to his capture and runs with them after that point. I’ve just been taking this one on in batches of chapters at a time, because did I say intense before? Yeah, still true.

i sought him who my soul loves (i sought him but found him not) - FC5 - This couldn’t be more different in tone than the first rec, but it’s a no cult AU, that focuses on a series of murders in the county. It really makes me think of Twin Peaks, and only reinforces the fact that Matthew deserves to be happy. He also deserves to have a damn good cup of coffee and some pie, and he’s a heck of a lot more likely to keep up a steady dose of both here than in the previous fic.

3, 5, and 7 for Joseph and Del??

3) Who is more into taking showers/baths together? Who tries to make it relaxing and who tries to make it sexy time?

Okay, so both of them know that they have to shower separately if they don’t have time, because hanky-panky will be happening. If they do have a little time, Del is the one more likely to slip into the shower with Joseph and start a little something. Baths are generally for relaxation, or a little intimate alone time, so sexy time is pretty much expected.

5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight?

Del, being the dramatic ho that she is, will huffily remove herself from the bedroom mid-fight and flop down onto the couch with threats to stay there all night. Joseph always follows her out and brings her right back into the bedroom to resolve things. He refuses to go to sleep angry, and he’s not going to sleep without her. Not when he’s already spent so long sleeping alone.

7) Who said “I love you” first? and who ends their arguments in a fight with “Because I love you”?

After pining for each other for months like idiots, Del said it first.  Joseph is much more likely to end fights with the “I love you” (see above).
