I know that you dislike how Aegon was portrayed in the show, but I really like alot of the elements they added to his character. The decision to invent an entirely original character just for him to assault was one of the strangest choices by the writers. However, I appreciate how they depicted his relationship with his parents. For instance, Viserys adored baby Aegon because he thought he could be a replacement for Balon. But as Aegon grew older and began to resemble his mother, he was no longer what Viserys wanted. Balon's shadow still looms over Aegon even in his adulthood. This is very similar to the dynamic between Tywin&Tyrion, and how Joanna's shadow still looms over both of them. Aegon's relationship with his mother is also very interesting. She loves him because he is her firstborn, but she also resents him. She believes that by crowning him, she could save him, but that's what ultimately leads to his death. There's so much to Aegon's character in the show, but most of it has been left unexplored. I wish that in S2, instead of vilifying him even further, they would explore the elements they added to his character.

Actually, I agree with a lot of this. It's mostly the invention of the OC to assault that I take issue with, and the way the show's writers can't seem to decide if they want Aegon to be an outright villain or a more grey character (which I think he certainly was in the book). But this is how a lot of the S1 characterization went. Given the time jumps, they had a hard time establishing a consistent characterization that felt like it developed organically over time. It's fine to have characters act in an inconsistent way, but you have to establish that this character has two warring sides and why. As GRRM likes to say, his favorite stories are about the human heart in conflict with itself. A character can do things that are unexpected or against their own interests, but we need to understand the conflict. Aegon really only got a handful of episodes in S1, so it's not surprising that his character is undeveloped compared to Alicent or Rhaenyra or Daemon.

There are lots of things I do like about the show's portrayal of Aegon though, and some of it is down to TGC's acting choices, but some of it is on the page. I think actually the show did the best job with the writing of younger Aegon in episodes 6 and 7, where you really see a spark of happiness in Aegon dim from the start of episode 6 to the end of episode 7 as the weight of expectations settles upon him. I also like that the show has made Aegon more or less an abused and neglected child. While I don't think that Alicent is an abusive parent per se, she and Otto both get physical with him even when he's not done anything (the kick to the ribs from Otto I think does cross a line). From episode 6 onward, there's not an episode in which Aegon is not being manhandled to some degree, and I think that's a really interesting choice. He's kicked around and slapped and grabbed and all of this culminates in him finally being metaphorically shoved onto a throne against his will. I think it gives this sense with Aegon that he is never really allowed to exist as his own person, that his very body isn't his own. He is either a vessel for kingship (and thus the protection of his family) or he is a representation the challenge he poses to Rhaenyra. His feelings don't matter, his wants don't matter, his pain doesn't matter. His father, very literally, erases him, and he's raised believing his sister probably wants him dead. I think it feeds very well into his hedonism, and I'd like to see that explored more.

But I agree that Season 2 should develop his character, rather than vilifying him further. I don't actually think show!Aegon is a total lost cause but the writers are treading a thin line with him. Most of what I enjoy about book!Aegon hasn't happened yet on the show, and there will be plenty of time post-Rook's Rest for Aegon to reflect upon his life and his choices, so let's hope they use it! A lot of people die in the Dance but we've got Aegon until the last episode or so, so the show really needs to make sure he's compelling to people who aren't already invested in his book character.

When her mother passed away she started having vivid dreams of a watch and decided to build it using secret plumber tech in the garage. That's when she made the Chaquetrix a watch that can create alien human hybrids. The alien human hybrids appear female because the vivid dreams and the watch itself were ment for Robyn's biological father Michael, who died when she was 8,so Azmuth had to settle for Mike's only daughter.

For the OC fact swap (again, because this is a lot of fun 👀): Joanna took up kickboxing in college, but after an attempted mugging on the way back to her dorm she took up actual self defense classes. Cut to Montana, she asks Jacob if he’ll train with her and he kind of rolls his eyes because it’s her and she wouldn’t hurt a fly. He ends up... pleasantly surprised. She doesn’t have his military training, but when she manages to surprise him and land one good punch to his jaw he just “😳😳😳”

I think Joanna and Lucy should just drop Jacob and get married to each other and be super wives, because they’re basically twins????? Lucy took up kickboxing in her twenties for fitness, but sort of fell out of practice by the time she left Georgia for good. She’s got a hell of a right hook, but Joanna could probably take her down 😂 Maybe she could give Lucy some pointers?

I love the thought of Jacob getting socked in the jaw. I bet training sessions are a lot more fun for both of them after that.

A short description about your OC: Joanna was born in Atlanta, Georgia. When she was in 6th grade her parents made the move to Rome, and she later discovered that her new house was right across the street from one of her classmates, Jacob Seed. She grew incredibly close to Jacob and his siblings over the years, and eventually her relationship with Jacob started to become something more than just being friends. Social services came and took Jacob and his brothers before he and Joanna really got the chance to explore what their new relationship could be.

The impact the Seed brothers left on her life led Joanna to pursue a degree in social work, and it was at college that she met her husband, Thomas Rook. Eventually Thomas died and a couple of years after that his mother took a turn for the worse, so Joanna moved back to his hometown of Hope County, Montana, in order to help her sister-in-law (Casey) take care of her. Joanna never expected to see the Seed brothers again, but when she sees Jacob in town one night and finds out he’s there helping Joseph start a new church, she’s ecstatic. As rumors start to emerge that Eden’s Gate may be more than what people are being led to believe, Joanna comes to the harsh realization that Jacob may not be the person she thought she knew.

“Oh, no. I mean, legally yes, but not really.” At his confused look she continued, “Isaac was a good friend, that’s all. He wanted more, but…” she played absently with the ring on her finger. “I told him about you. He understood. And then he got cancer and his family was here in Montana, and he needed someone to care for him, so…”

So Joanna swooped in. She saw a soul in need and made the sacrifices necessary to help him. And then she came all the way to Montana to do the same thing for his mother. Jacob swiped a hand over his jaw as he stared at the woman across from him. She really hadn’t changed at all, had she?

Jacob lifted the hem of her shirt and she gasped as he pressed his palm over the scar on her right side.

“What was this from?” He asked. Joanna stared at him, tongue darting out to wet her lips before she answered.

“I got an emergency appendectomy, when I was in college.”

“I wasn’t there for that,” he told her. His head tilted to the side. “Do you blame me for it?” He meant her scar, and he moved so his fingers traced over the slightly raised skin to emphasize his point. She held his gaze as she gave a small shake of her head.

💐: flowers headcanons

Joanna loves wildflowers. They’re so unique and beautiful, and come in such vibrant colors

Jacob couldn’t give two shits about flowers, and he’s never really bought flowers for anyone before

But when he’s out hiking through the mountains and he happens to see a bunch of wildflowers, he might grab a couple if he’s seeing Joanna later that day

He has, occasionally, found a particularly striking flower that he thought she might like and left it for her where he knew she’d be next

Joanna has woken up to flowers on her bedside table, bathroom sink, kitchen counter, and sometimes even under the windshield-wiper of her car

Just little reminders that he’s thinking of her even if he’s not there

🍚: cooking class date headcanons

Oh my gooosshhh she needs them so bad

Jacob signed Joanna up for a cooking class after unintentional-poisoning-attempt number 3.

She made it about halfway through the class before she was politely asked to leave

Apparently the instructor gets very frustrated when you try and “experiment with their recipe”

Jacob takes teaching her into his own hands after that

They set up a schedule: every weekend for two months, they’ll meet at her house and Jacob will bring a recipe for them to try. (He asks Joseph and John for the simplest meals they can think of)

They go step by step for every recipe

She almost burns the house down twice

Jacob claims she even managed to burn the water they were boiling

But eventually Joanna can make a couple very simple meals: chicken and rice, a couple of soups, and — a little more advanced — maybe a meatloaf if she’s focused enough

Jacob’s just glad he can finally eat something she made without dialing poison control behind his back
