This wouldn’t be the most absurd conversation he has ever had. Thinking to himself and writing by himself made him accustomed to being withdrawn from a lot of servants in Chaldea, drifting more in the background than in the foreground. 

That’s probably why he found it more comfortable to be ‘by himself’ than to stand near the group of servants that would bombard him with unnecessary pestering.

He was familiar with sleight of hand, and was extremely quick himself, but a trick like that, where items disappear completely from his vision, bewildered Cain and amused him wholeheartedly. His acquaintance had been able to entertain him before, and regardless of Drang’s own personal thoughts on Cain, Cain was rather drawn to the possible amusement Drang provided and felt very eager and happy whenever he endeavored to talk to him. 

“Man, you’ve gotta teach me something like that! C’mon...” Cain’s eyes sparkled, his brattiness taking him over briefly. He then coughed, straightened himself out and laughed. “In return, I can teach you one of my tricks. I think you’ll like it! But, you really gotta tell me. An unexpected and yet familiar presence.

The emptiness in Emiya’s eyes is almost the same he saw on that day a few years ago. The magus killer’s refusal to fight, turning away to dedicate himself to his foolish search for survivors, needing to save someone.

It all comes back.

The agony reflected in those eyes... how unpleasant.  Eyes of a man who refused everything life had offered him--everything the Holy Grail had meant, destroying it and putting it out of Kirei’s reach. He can feel Rin’s gaze on him, probably staring intently and wondering what the reason behind his hardened expression might be--before heading inside the building. Not even her forced “See you later, Kirei.” manages to capture his attention.

“Emiya Kiritsugu.” Shouting is not needed. He is certain the man will hear it.
