Oh to be a gardener robot with a pet cat living in a solarpunk world and taking care of little plants... ☀️🌿

I revisited the botanist to add backview to her concept. Now I kinda want to design other scientists from her team

The problem with "leftist" utopias in fiction, is that no matter how different your fictional society is from ours, a piece of speculative fiction where a society is shown as fundamentally good and anyone trying to go against it or fundamentally change it is thus evil, is a fundamentally right-wing work. There is no point in history where all the progress has happened as thus any attempts at more change to society are now a problem, and you don't want to be like the people who say that there is.

My Solarpunk and Biophilic design inspired AI art created using DALL E for New Year's Eve 2024.
Imagine a futuristic Solarpunk world where fireworks are really giant blossoms in the sky created with illusions of light and mist instead of polluting gunpowder and toxic metals.
Happily, around the world light shows using drones, lasers, and projections are nudging out fireworks as a way to ring in the new year. The possibilities of what you can create with these non-pyrotechnic shows is vast, and I hope one day this more environmentally friendly style of celebrations will make fireworks a thing of the past.

just saw a very funny post of someone being mad that "solarpunk" spaces have more conservatives in them and they shouldn't, because "solarpunk" is meant to be leftist
I think that the primary appeal of solarpunk to many is the same as homesteading (which is more obviously right wing) and like, come on, it isn't hard to see why these anarchists and conservatives are in the same space
solarpunk, at best, is a collection of new, green technology that is cool and could help with making future agriculture and cities more sustainable. some of it is just gardening tips or zero-waste type advice, which are nice. but let's be honest, how is this meant to abolish capitalism? or even just lead to a more egalitarian society? treating it like a political standpoint is just silly and naïve. solarpunk isnt an ideology, it's a moodboard.

Finished render for the solarpunk botanist! Like I said, I wanted to draw something based on round shapes and using greens for quite some time now! I am pretty happy with this design given I don't really draw science fiction and this was mostly trying out the popular style of it. We need more hopeful futuristic ideas, terraforming, saving green and all that. Also I know there's been some discourse how hexagons are too overused for sci-fi but I love them, so I had to use them in the background :D

A Liquid Tree? Scientists in Serbia Make Incredible Innovation
Dr. Ivan Spasojevic, Ph.D. in Biophysical sciences, and one of the authors on the project from the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research at the University of Belgrade, developed an innovative tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality: the liquid tree. Also dubbed LIQUID 3, the novel creation is Serbia’s first urban photo-bioreactor, a solution in the fight for clean air. It contains six hundred litres of water and works by using microalgae to bind carbon dioxide and produce pure oxygen through photosynthesis.
The microalgae replace two 10-year-old trees or 200 square meters of lawn. . The advantage of microalgae is that it is 10 to 50 times more efficient than trees.
Very interesting, especially in urban contexts that can’t support / be reconfigured to support more trees.
I imagine a Solarpunk world where each one of these is sculptural - a work of public art.
