Day 28 of the #WriterFriendsChallenge is "story by the senses- smell." These quotes are from 4 of my already published books! * The Memory Tree (2018) * Solving for X (2016) * Society's Foundlings (2015) * Be (2021) I've discovered that I do a lot with scent in my books, which probably should not be that surprising on two fronts. 1) I work very closely with scent on the aromatherapy side of my handmade business, @acorn_tops! 2) A number of books have a theme of memories and scent is very closely tied to that! Today is day 17 of the #WriterFriendsChallenge by @susanleighneedham and @thatsarahelynn and the #authorgramchallenge by @lorenlicata and @writeincommunity! The prompts are "writing goals" and "ideal readers" and the two definitely go hand in hand! I'd love to fill my writer mug with the tears and heart-break of my readers. I want to, as I say in my book Society's Foundlings, "whisper to the page words of mutual understanding." As one of the reviewers said about my book Solving for X "connect emotionally" or as a reviewer said about The Memory Tree, "just thinking about this [story] makes me emotional" and "give permission to feel..." (insert emotion here). I want to be able to make my readers so attached to the stories that they inspire fanart, like @theenchantedwren's 3D miniature light up paper art scene of the Queen's room from my Be series! A more short term goal is finishing the 2nd novel in my Be series, An Impossible Dream, and have it published before the end of the year. I also have a couple more children's books in the works, including a rhyming early reader stand alone.
