Hii. I'm not sure how to phrase this question, but how does one draw the line between the most effective way of getting people into engaging critically with art and politics (which is imo, being nice and encouraging and yes coddling a little bit people's fragile egos) and expressing your own discontent with people's lack of curiosity and desire to learn and form well funded opinions beyond base level takes, paired with an immovable conviction that anything that isn't immediately comfortable (such as your blorbo show (?) Being criticized) must be Evil.

What I mean is that as an individual you'd want to basically shake these people who shut down every discussion with the slogan Let People Enjoy Things, and rightfully call them idiots for throwing a tantrum at the grown age of 36 because someone said maybe watching something other than Steven universe would be good or whatever, but on the other hand telling people they are unintelligent for exclusively engaging with surface level ideas/ uninspired art does Not encourage anyone who does that into going beyond that comfort zone. At the same time tho it does feel like you're doing airplane sounds so the baby eats the pudding without crying. You cannot condescend anyone into critical thought but the fact that so many people are unwilling to engage in it out of laziness is making everyone's life worse. idk i honestly get very annoyed by watching people or interacting with people who respond to any mild critical thought with some iteration of 'let people enjoy things' and 'youre being elitist for not liking the popular thing,' and a million other things. ngl i dont think tumblr is also the greatest place for like... scholarly discourse although it can actually be quite productive for it somethings. but a lot of people genuinely dont want to look into shit. theres an attitude here (not just on tumblr but i just think in the capitalist west) of incuriosity and its difficult to say how to overcomme. for example ill post links to books and essays about a topic and have people complain that i dont specify what chapters to read. this pisses me off to no end and i end up ranting about it and probably coming off like a dick lol. thus the posts...

i also do post like essays and articles and shit that i think explains my position on this and the theoretical basis for it, and if people ask questions ill try to explain any concepts and give recommendations for stuff to read about mass culture and cultural criticism. i think this has been more productive, idk. i dont think political education and class consciousness will rise from social media though, which is where these tendencies are allowed to develop to the extreme. organization and education irl will be the most fruitful, but still i just think to show people the stuff that influenced me and how i think of it is a net positive. ty and same to you

He’s a punarvasu moon (I thought he was an ardra moon bc he lacks self discipline with alcohol/spending/food but I think Jupiter suits him more), with revati venus sun and mercury conjunction all within one degree.

As for his ascendant, it can only be from purvaphalguni to anuradha. My main theories are actually those two naks themselves or just leo/scorpio rashi in general because I think he might have pp mars 1H or Jyestha ketu 1H. Also I think he might be UP asc.

-Literally so rude and disrespectful to everyone except his mother (passed for unknown reasons years ago) and this 90 yr old woman he knows😭 I imagine he’s not rude to his customers at work but that man always has something bad to say! He talks shit about people constantly.

-Has anyone else noticed that punarvasu moons have weird relationships with their mothers? They’re either obsessed or they hate them

- He’s a huge megalomaniac and needs to be in control of us at all times. He needs to have everything a certain way and gets very angry at you if you deviate from it. He often spoils my brother (who is still a child) with the intention of getting him to like him more than my mother. This includes buying him expensive gifts, and when my mother scolds my brother over his bad behaviour, he goes crying to my dad who proceeds to coddle him and act like she’s the bad guy.

My dad has encouraged my brother when he’s been physically abusive or degrading to my mother several times😬

He once told my brother at the airport “I don’t care if you don’t listen to your mother or any of your teachers at school, but you must listen to me. I’m the boss. Ok?” It sounded way more controlling irl but I’m just paraphrasing.

- He is very erratic and gets angry very easily. He’s broken a several things in our house just from his temper tantrums

- Talking about erratic, he is so mean when he’s pissed off you. My brother got in trouble at school when he was ~10 yo once and my dad had a rant at him about how he’s going nowhere in life, he’s going to be a bum, he’s clumsy, etc. He once told me I was tearing the family apart bc I annoyed my brother at the dinner table💀 but we can’t criticise him for this bc it’s “his business”. -Very irresponsible, acts impulsively and expects everyone else to just work around his schedule

Oh, it’s complicated, but at the same time it really isn’t; the sketch was pretty much about Idia enjoying his time with both Azul and Lilia, because ultimately the boy just wants to spend his time playing board games and videogames with people he likes. So when I was sketching it, the relationship status I imagined for them was rather vague. I’d say that there is some chemistry Idia is experiencing with both of them though, but on different levels. With Azul and with the way they bicker and tease each other and piss each other off while playing, I’d say that they are relatively close, and Idia is surprisingly comfortable around Azul irl, which is saying a lot when it comes to Idia. It’s more casual and relaxed, with some romantic overtones.

And with Crimson Muscle, Idia is definitely the one who is crushing hard. He enjoys playing with him a lot: this is one of the most exciting things to him, and Idia can chat with him for hours and hours, always being bummed out about having to say goodbye at like 5 AM. Idia is never going to confess though, he is the type to stay silent about his feelings for years and just enjoy their time together.

So this is what I had in mind when I sketched this. Idia is having fun with both of them: with Azul they are kind of friends, but kind of aren’t, but kind of drawn to each other in a way, but never think about it seriously. With Lilia, it���s Idia having an unrequited (?) crush he’ll never open up about, because he wouldn’t want to risk losing this guy whose company he loves so much.

But at the same time, it’s all completely up to interpretation; maybe Idia is dating both of them there lol maybe they have some kind of agreement about it. I don’t think Idia is the type to cheat out of malice, even though he does feel like someone who would find himself in the weirdest dating scenarios because of miscommunication (is this our Catherine AU again?)…

But hypothetically, if Azul were to find out that he was cheated on or that he wasn’t the only one, he would feel betrayed and hurt, and we know how he acts when he is betrayed and hurt. But, if it’s Lilia we’re talking about (let’s imagine they know that Idia’s gaming buddy is Lilia), Azul wouldn’t say anything about it, because he knows better than to piss Lilia off or confront him in any way. He might even try to rationalize the situation by thinking that there are some perks in having Idia so close to someone from Diasomnia. That wouldn’t stop him from feeling upset though.

And Lilia strikes me as someone who really doesn’t care about teenage relationship drama, so he wouldn’t have any problems with Idia dating Azul. It’s not that serious to him, his stakes aren’t as high as Azul’s who is having his first ever romance lol

I want to make a step-by-step post for anti's to explain that they are wrong and why, but I wanna make it not judgey because like i understand to some degree where they(some of them) are coming from. I don't like the hatzgang and like I don't hate them- in fact I think they are good characters. And I appreciate Ross and Robert's character development. And I genuinely like their friendship because it's obvious they care for eachother and I think that's wholesome but Roy's personality reminds me so much of someone who used to make fun of me and humiliate me in hight school and Robert and Ross remind me of his friends who would also tag along and I don't wanna go into detail but it really messed me up and I still don't think I have fully recovered. And it's just hard for me to be able to bear them whenever they are on screen without feeling terrible. And like I get that they are fictional characters, and I really want to enjoy them. But bullying is an actual real thing that has messed up so many people (and that's to put it in the lightest way possible I could say so much more but I don't want to make this rant too fucked up) and unfortunately bullying usually isn't taken seriously and I don't like how it's portrayed in the series that Skid and Pump don't mind it/aren't affected by it because they are apparently "too young" to understand it? Because trauma doesn't have an age, people can still be traumatised even if they don't understand really traumatized them iyk what I mean?

And genuinely they give me huge vibes of "oh bullies aren't actually that bad" and "they only bully you because they are going through something bad at home" and that really pisses me off because that's the same exact excuses I was also told in school and it's insufferable and makes me absolutely furious. Of course I'll admit that I don't think Roy deserved what his going through with his parents. Because they are obviously emotionally neglectful and extremely strict. But I genuinely cannot bring myself to sympathise with him. I can admit that he deserved better but I don't feel that much sympathy for him. Because genuinely to me the moment you decide to take out your frustration and issues on someone who doesn't even know you- and make them your punching bag to make yourself feel better- like some bullies do (not really but whatever) you have officially lost any of my sympathy. I don't care what you're going through - the moment you start taking it out on other innocents I lose any kind of respect and sympathy I could had felt for you. Because dammint I've been through that and it was fucking horrible.

2. When it comes to portraying falling for someone, there is no inherent difference between falling in it as a men or a woman. But I am just a guy and never been a woman so idk. Everyone is diffrent too, and I think you write them all very emotionally charged. Full of nuance and depth qnd all those feelings that just might burst.

(I might be a few chapters behind but I really like the emotionally repressed and self destructive Remus as in it makes sense. It makes a lot of sense for a guy I think. Irl he would most probably be the typa fella that starts going to the gym or gets into 1200cc piss missile motorcycles. Maybe even drink a bit too much, but "strong" enough to get over himself and use that toxic masculinity to go back to "normal")

However, after thinking about it and like whilst keeping in mind what I said earlier - I do have a gf. Looking at me and my Sunshine, whilst strongly generalizing - I think it took me longer to fall for her. Like acually fall for her, not just like her and think she is one of the most beautiful woman on earth. But now as a guy, idk I just think about her a lot, I'm more on the logical side then her. Also way more reserved idk uhh I have some sa experience so it might be just me but after chatting a bit with some people yeah guys usually more reserved waiting for the sign or something. 3. When it comes to specific scenes uhhh pooki what can I tell you xD they have great chemistry, with Rem hoping back and fourth. It makes sense that a lot of them are sexually charged since they cannot connect romantically (at least as far as I've read). If you have more specific ones that would be easier to say xD

Thank god I'm not coming off as objectifying, I swear I was terrified, I feel like there is a very thin line, especially for BL and I wanted to portray it right and do it justice, especially since I know a lot of fanfiction can be complicated, and I have read plenty of people (specifically queer men) complaining about the way their relationships are typecasted and portrayed in said media.

I definitely focus heavily on their feelings, but that's kind of the reason I decided to write GC in the first place, I wanted to explore the complications of a throuple hehe.

It makes so much sense that guys would be more reserved I think, but I think especially in queer situations, both for men and women would be, since you might not be sure if the other person is actually queer too, idk if that makes sense?

Regarding specific scenes, I remember I was super nervous when I wrote the library scene with Sirius and Remus in Chapter 26, since it was Sirius' first time to feel something for Rem, and panic over it, I was so scared it wasn't doing it right. And also in chapter 31, when Sirius sees Minho and Tom kiss and has another gay panic revelation moment. I mean, I'm not sure when I figured I was pansexual but I think if I had seen two girls kiss in a closet and I didn't know about it, it would have definitely done something to me if that makes sense.

So to preface this, I have watched three (3) shows in the last five years. And one of those shows I was nearly tied down to watch because I am notorious for not watching television— like I will see something interesting and instead of watching I’ll just end up reading what happens (yes it pisses everyone off sorry).

SUFFICE TO SAY, I watched Russian Doll in literally two days. The whole thing. A huge incentive is the fact it’s IN TOTAL ~16 thirty minute episodes.

And I cried(albeit I’m an easy crier). I laughed. I sat there in agony and intrigue. It hurts in such a good way it makes you rethink your own outlook on life your relationships with others and your perception of humankind, so if that’s your kinda genre I HIGHLY recommend. Idk if you’ve seen fleabag but it’s along the same line. The show has a sci-fi twist that I think is executed wonderfully and leaves you on the edge of your seat— I went in with zero clue but it was amazing. Truly.

Natasha Lyonne knocks it out of the ballpark. Like the whole cast is amazing but she lives in her role and it doesn’t even feel like we’re watching actors and actresses but rather someone’s real life.

Personally, I’ve recommended it to two people (one being the lovely @katagawajr who actually watched it on my couch with me lol) and an IRL friend (who I also recc’d fleabag to) who said “I’m never taking another recommendation from you unless I want to cry”.

I’d give it a good ol 8.9/10 and I think it shines best in season 1 but season 2 is pretty damn good!!!!!

so a lot of Kaija's character arc involves the fact that being the Knight-Commander of the Fifth Crusade is… kind of an emotional rollercoaster, to put it mildly.

she craves independence, she hates commitments and being tied down and having things expected of her, but she's also not above a good old power trip; and being in a position like that, where people look upon her with respect, with awe, makes her feel—not good, per se, but validated in a way that is born entirely out of jaded bitterness. like, "ha, you idiots spent so long treating me like shit because I'm a tiefling, and now that I'm of use to you somehow, now that you see my 'true' potential, you're falling over yourselves to worship me." it annoys her as much as it makes her unbearably smug.

she wants people to look at her and see not just the Knight-Commander but someone they would've spit on in the past, and she wants them to feel burning shame and regret. can you tell why she gets along so well with Woljif lol

in this case, despite her overall personality not fitting the Moon archetype, she'd be the moon that eclipsed Galfrey's sun—Kaija is the morally questionable, ethically reprehensible tiefling that took over the Crusade and made it work.

Kaija, uh. does not get along with most council members she's assigned, lol. as well as the whole deal with Galfrey sending her into the Abyss, which breeds a resentment so deep that the only reason why Kai doesn't go apeshitt and attack Galfrey upon meeting her at Iz is that at that point in her timeline she is extremely high on the "I AM BETTER THAN YOU" juice and thinks Galfrey is not even worth her time, lol. (and also because Irabeth is there and, differences aside, Kai has a lot of appreciation and respect for Irabeth, and she wouldn't want to strike her down after everything they went through together.)

but also this particular lyric is heavily heavily related to Areelu—at her worst moments Kaija sees Areelu as some sort of twisted mirror of herself, and the later revelations about the source of her mythic power do not help at all, hence why she drops them as soon as she gets the chance

so remember the emotional rollercoaster I mentioned above? the power trip is there sometimes, and other times it feels like she's just a pawn on a chess board, being dragged around according to someone else's will. and it pisses her off very, very badly. and when Kaija is pissed off, she, uh. takes drastic measures, so to speak.

at first it just leads her to antagonise people and get all belligerent when she really shouldn't, then in the Abyss she gets actively violent and indulges in her worst desires and impulses, then in Act V/post-game she declares Drezen's independence out of spite. #girlboss.

In the end, we only reap what we have sown Can't leave well enough alone

and lastly, although still related to the above—she's a firm believer of "fuck around and find out", lol. "we only reap what we have sown" is just the more diplomatic way of putting that. 😌

hey guys. coming on quickly to rant and let my frustrations out because i genuinely don’t know who to talk to rn but you can ofc ignore lol.

but yeah. my roommates are pissing me tf off😭 usually im fine with one of them but lately they both have been so unnecessarily rude. their responses whenever i talk to them are so dismissive and just blatantly rude. and it’s like im not like that AT ALL with them and it’s starting to really take a toll on my mental health i swear. the one that was rude to me before (iykyk) ive just started ignoring because after that one instance ive just been weary but the other one is starting to get like too comfortable with me yk and it’s starting to make me uncomfortable because she’s just fucking rude😭 they’re both so pretentious too and i ALWAYS make the effort to active listen to what they’re saying to me but they NEVER and I swear to you im not exaggerating when I say they never reciprocate.

for example, this one time i saw a fine ass photo of harry styles and i got all excited and the kpop obsessed roommate was like “oh is that jack?” cos she knows I like him and I JOKINGLY said “nah it’s harry. if it was jack I would’ve have mentioned it to you,” because she just never listens whenever I wanna tell her anything about him and she got SO OFFENDED and started trash talking me to our other flatmate being like “see what she just did there? She never tells me anything about Jack because she thinks I don’t care” and she made me out to be some villain for not including her the same way she includes me into kpop and BELIEVE ME ITS AGAINST MY FUCKING WILL AND SHE KNOWS I DONT LIKE KPOP LIKE THAT BUT SHE FORCES ME TO WATCH THEIR SHIT and yet I engage because im a polite person and because she made me feel so shit because of that, when the snl promo came out, i was like super excited and wanted to show someone so i showed her and this girl a) wasn’t paying attention at all and b) barely said or commented anything about it. not that I care about them liking jack the way I do but it’s like after what she said, i made the effort to actually include her in my interest because she seemed upset at me never telling her but the time i do, it’s like she didn’t validate my excitement yk? idk.

but yeah I hate it because it’s such a fucking double standard and I put in so much effort to NOT seem like a bitch with others and they don’t ever do the same with me.
