this one is exclusively for fics that have never made it off the badbadbathouse/livejournal (to my knowledge/memory). I have my big ass list of every single souyo fill, but this one is curated with summaries, so hopefully it'll be useful to new p4 fans or anyone who doesn't know where to start with p4 on lj!

(these are all from bbbh, so the main post text for all these will be somewhat suggestive, but I will separate sfw fics from nsfw)

Sunday, 7:43: I've mentioned before but my absolute fav P4 fic <3 even the prompt is the sweetest: a ficcy about the precise moment Yousuke realizes he's in love

Domesticity: Yosuke gets a gray hair :^)

Name That Tune: after Yosuke gives him a mixtape, Souji surprises him with the song he likes the most-- it goes exactly where you think but the buildup is still so good :') this one I feel like I did see on AO3 but I can't find it again if it is

The Frog in the Well (or, Yosuke and the wind.): character study of Yosuke's connection to his element (okay not so souyo but it's got such fantastic use of language...)

Sick Day: good old fashioned sick fic :') actually more of a ensemble fic rather than purely souyo, and the peeks of characterization therein are choice [warnings for vomit]

Cook the Food, Not the Kitchen: teaching the IT to cook- another ensemble fic! but souji def has plans for Yosuke in this one ;) unfinished but very amusing nonetheless

Façade: in order to go out on a public date, Souji elects to disguise as a girl. i like fics where they work thru their issues... but it's still quite fluffy! this one miiiight be on AO3 or ffn

One Way to Start the Morning: Yukiko and Yosuke talk about being in love with their best friends... as much as Yosuke can admit it anyway. realistically awkward but genuine Yosuke and Yukiko friendship, hooray! [warnings for one use of slur]

Whisperwind: Yosuke gains telepathic powers and it's too much (a sorta Carrie au). very surreal but well done horror fic (there is souyo but as you can imagine, it doesn't end well) [no smut but it is very gory so think maybe R? instead of NC-17; major character death]

Contact: souyo's relationship through touch. wonderful sense of tension and space throughout this fic, and i love viewing their progression thru one specific lens

Breaking Up is Hard To Do: Yosuke confesses... the night before Souji leaves. once again the genre is souyo/working on their issues. excellent, naturalistic dialog and not too angsty...

[untitled]: souyo told purely from other character's perspectives. unfortunately unfinished; we really need more outside pov fics !

A Special Report: "I like my women like my coffee" ngl rec-ing purely for Souji's answer ;D (nothing explicit but as u can expect from the prompt, suggestive jokes abound) also sports club trio ftw!!

The Last Breath We Take: sometime after Yosuke dies, Souji is sure he's being haunted. more bittersweet than outright sad :') (also the nsfw is very indirect and light) [warnings for major character death]

A Night Like This: Yosuke's dad finds out Yosuke's dating Souji and does not take it well. Yosuke isn't a complete pushover (but he is still a sad boy) so that's refreshing! [warnings for abuse]

Bruise My Head: Souji gets a bit fat and meets up with Yosuke years after. flashbacks (one is the short nsfw in this fic) are interspersed in this future fic, and it's an interesting examination how they might change and what stays the same (and how there's always something to work on) [warnings for eating disorders + brief self harm mention]

Technique: Yosuke totally knows what a blowjob is. totally. (smut that doesn't go perfectly >>>>>)

Its a Hard Life: Yosuke falls on hard times, becoming a prostitute and gets a regular who looks very familiar (it's Souji's dad). listen, I'm not gonna pretend that this one isn't carried by pure DRAMA and whump [warnings for dubcon + noncon]

Unfortunate Timing: souyo are having phone sex when Nanako has the WORST timing. Souji's dilemma is supremely entertaining, and we love bratty!Yosuke [warnings for Nanako? she's not a part of/aware of the sex per se but she's in the vicinity if that squicks you out]

Experience: Kanji learns a thing or two from established souyo. the Kanji pov is an interesting angle to view souyo and how well they work together [warnings for dp]

I HAVE NO DUNGEON, AND I MUST TROLL!: Yosuke has a personal blog- very personal- that starts getting hate from one anonymous Souji. this fic is unique for presenting the lj/comments true to life and there's a lovely floaty style to the offline sections; this fic is also an interesting look into Jerkji, who we don't see often in fan characterization anymore [warnings for manipulative!Souji; eating disorders (adjacent); dubcon; suicidal actions]

and finally Sympathy Crime even though pretty much everyone already knows about it AKA the fic where Adachi manipulates Yosuke into a relationship and it takes a tole on the investigation. heed the warnings of abuse, rape, torture, and suicidal thoughts/attempts seriously as the fic goes in depth to depict these, the horrifying effects, and then recovery. It does not pull any punches. The fic really understands how anyone can be susceptible to abuse and how important a support system/lack thereof is. It is incredibly well written- and that is in part because it has a message about horrendous acts of abuse. Additionally, it's a 200k+ (i think) word read so it is A Lot. Sympathy Crime is 100% not for everyone, but if you think you can tolerate reading the subject matter, there is a reason why this is a monolithic fic in P4 fandom history

The transformer lookalike in the game Palace was a heavy hitter with hard armor. Yousuke's wind power was barely beating into the iron and steel.

Susano-o was fierce, an expert in wind magic.

And yet it was still not enough. Their stamina was whittled down more and more until Souji could barely stand, wobbling on his feet. His vision was blurry, unable to see the upcoming attack.

Yosuke did see it though.

What hit Souji was the impact of Yosuke pushing the leader out of the way, causing him to hit the floor and slide across the ground. Souji gritted his teeth against that, his eyes closing. Once his head stopped throbbing, he opened them to see Yosuke reeling from an attack, nose dripping red, but still standing.

The magician gave a wide grin, red staining his teeth. Souji stood up, slow and pained.

"You hit harder than that damn bot."

"Well, partner, if you're still able to complain, I say we end this."

Souji bared his teeth in a harsh snarl. "let's."

Revising the history book was a lot more difficult than any of the Investigation Team had thought.

“What. the. Hell. is. this?” Yousuke said, far from amused.

“If the Hokage were the leaders that directed the village, Narugami-dono was the protector-teacher of the people. He was a being of intelligence and tactics. He helped create the first school, as well as the establishment of the hospital–an idea that was revolutionary in an era where families taught members the skills necessary for survival.“

“That explains why Tobirama-san was staring when I requested land for a school and a hospital.��

“Obviously, a school was necessary! How the hell were they going to learn to read? Or learn vital skills? They were cooking meat over a fire!” Chie hissed. “I ate burnt meat for every single meal!”

Yukiko patted her on the shoulder. “I agree with you. Most of their food was rather…inedible.”

“Chie-senpai still hasn’t forgiven them for that,” Kanji added, thinking back before muttering. “Though cooking is important, I don’t know if I’d consider it a vital skill…”

“What confused me, is that fact, that this book continues to call Narugami with other adjectives other than human.” Naoto pointed out. “Here, Narugami-senpai is referred to as a ‘being’, and over the next few pages, the same thing continues constantly. There’s nowhere where in this book that refers that, he is anything even remotely human. If nothing else, he is very loosely said to be a celestial being.“

"That's unsettling. I'm pretty sure we never told Tobirama-san that we weren't human." Yukiko noted.

"Maybe it was Mito-chan?" Teddie added as he decimated yet another bag of rice crackers, likely the last bag of them.

( Apparently not noticing the vein starting to pulse on Yousuke's head. )

"Stop eating all the rice crackers, you stupid bear! " Yousuke snatched the bag from him.

Starting yet another fight.

Naoto continued reading.

“Narugami-dono oversaw all aspects of the hospital, creating many techniques, still used today, such as antiseptic, and antibiotics, the combination of which helped Konoha thrive, when ninja recovered much more quickly to not only live but fight another day---”

“Fighting. It's back to fighting.” Rise frowned. “Honesty, I thought our world was bad enough.”

“I know, right?” Chie hissed. “It’s like that all they think about. Constantly. It's so annoying! It not about anything else.”

(”Like you’re any different, Chie-senpai.” Kanji said, but Yu doubted anyone else heard his words.)

“If that upsets you, the next lines are no better,” Naoto said reading through the rest of the page, before scanning the rest of the chapter. "Though from what I can guess this book is less about the facts and more about Konoha patriotism and propaganda. "

"That is bad.” Yukiko thought now starting to understand why people treated Narugami so strangely. “Remember when Narukami-kun used to go shopping before the Third-san made it a permanent D-Rank mission?”

Most of the Investigation Team made faces at that (Naoto being the only except as she was still scanning through the history book, appearing to get more and more annoyed with what she was seeing.)

“Of course we do,” Chie told. “Those weeks were utter crap!”

“Ninja kept following senpai everywhere, and Mariko was getting twitchy every time they got closer. Especially after the whole stampede thing that happened before. “ Kanji said frowning.

“And then if that wasn’t enough they followed him back! Like I thought the surveillance cloaks were bad, but they were everywhere! In the trees, pretending to be rocks, everything, and anything!” Yousuke yelled. “Man, remember the scare Yukiko got after she went to check the mail? That masked ninja was so close to getting a galactic punt from Chie.”

Teddie nodded. “And there were so beary many! It was nothing lie the weird rumors in Inaba---”

“Stop eating all the rice crackers!” Yousuke growled once again taking the bag.

“Sadly, our problems are far from over.” Naoto cut in, closing the book. “There some more bad news for Narugami.”

“Like what? They think he’s a chick or something? I don’t see how anything could be any worse.” Kanji said leaning back in his chair, balancing on it so he was on the back two legs, with his feet on the table.

“This is an international edition,” Naoto said placing the book down in front of Yu and rubbing her forehead irritably.

“So?” Chie countered grabbing some rice crackers from Yousuke.

“It has a picture of Narugami three pages from the end. Even if the other nations think this is some Konoha propaganda the fact that someone was able to take a picture of Narugami and so brazenly print it---something that was never supposed to happen because it’s punishable by a long torturous death--- this book was published outside of Konoha in Wave Country.” Naoto told them, pressing upon them the seriousness nature of what was very wrong.

“I theorize that if I look in the copies printed in Konoha, Narugami picture isn’t printed in it because it would have never passed through censorship if it had, or gotten this second, bigger publishing from an outside source. The fact that this happened at all means three things.”

She held up three fingers and taking a sheet of paper from under the snacks bowl, and a pen started writing.

“First that someone either knows the truth or at least suspects the validity of what Narugami is, and is testing the waters. This means that there a number of moles in Konoha in powerful offices because they were able to oversee the second release in another publishing company and take a picture of Narugami even through the security measures.”

“The second is that whoever is trying to paint a target on Narugami’s head is connected to one of the other nations, though how many I couldn’t say at this point. I do know that this isn’t just a scheme from a random missing-nin. It's far too complex, and time-consuming especially considering that amount of security surrounding Narugami. Even an exceptionally skilled missing-nin would not dare attempt something of this magnitude without backup, which means other ninja villages.”

“The last is more my theory, but from the clues in front of me, I doubt this is something from Konoha’s underbelly.”

Chie frowned. “Why not?”

“Because as power hungry, and profit driven as the bosses are they need Narugami to keep the peace as mediator. Especially in the current political climate. If something happens to Narugami there could be a cleansing by the ANBU. The yakuza are tough but very few are ninja. I can’t see them acting rashly. At least not yet.” She turned toward Yu leveling him with a long look.

“Then we should investigate, shouldn’t we?” Yu said standing.

Prompt: After fusing the best persona to the justice social link sraosa, Souji discovers that he can now hear what Nanako is thinking. After fusing a few other maxed s. Link personas, he discovers that it also works with futunushi, ishtar, etc... Just as long as he has the persona equipped, he can hear the s. Links thoughts. The things he hears ranges are cute, funny, creepy, embarrassing but nothing really surprising. Until he equips Mada. Yousuke has some REALLY dirty thoughts about Souji. Thoughts that end up turning Souji on and make him want see all Yousuke's fantasies come true. That is if he can get Yousuke out of pretending to not be gay.

It’s a ridiculously awesome feeling, the realization that he did this. That he’s the one that gets to see Souji like this, that he’s the one that made Souji like this. Their stoic, pragmatic, always-put-together leader, a panting, boneless mess underneath him and Yosuke did that.

Souji looks a wreck.

He lays there limp, still shivering with what must be the occasional aftershock because he lets out a tiny, choked sound whenever they happen. His hair is a mess; simultaneously tangled and plastered to his forehead with sweat and god it’s sexy. His eyes are half-lidded, unfocused, with pupils blown so wide they eclipse the stormy gray of his eyes with inky black.

And ohhhhh, it’s a ridiculously awesome feeling, the realization that he did this. That he’s the one that gets to see Souji like this, that he’s the one that made Souji like this. Their stoic, pragmatic, always-put-together leader, a panting, boneless mess underneath him and Yosuke did that.

It almost makes him hard again. Hell, he wishes he could get hard again; he kind of wants to hear Souji make more of those amazing sounds like right now, but they’ve been going at it for a while and even with his raging teenage hormones, Yosuke is kind of worn out. He can’t even imagine what it must be like for Souji, whose orgasm count has already far exceeded his own.

Yosuke stifles a grin because he did that, too.

“You okay there, Partner?” he murmurs, too exhausted to be much louder than that. He trails his lips over Souji’s collarbone in a semblance of a lazy kiss. The boy beneath him shivers.

Souji’s voice is gone, it seems, because the only response Yosuke gets is a quiet, happy, “hnn.” Souji shifts ever so slightly and Yosuke feels a light pressure against his hair where his boyfriend nuzzles him.

This time, he really does grin.

“That good, huh?”

This time there is a faint snort and Yosuke can feel Souji’s body silently laughing under him. He lifts up just enough to get a better view of his friend, his boyfriend, and props himself up with an elbow. He twines the fingers of that same hand around Souji’s and feels a weak squeeze in return.

A hazy, half-focused pair of rainclouds gaze back up at him, and even if Souji looks like he’s about ready to pass out there is a familiar warmth to his features that makes Yosuke melt every time.

Souji is still soundlessly chuckling as Yosuke reins in the butterflies. “Ass…” he whispers, voice ragged and raw.

Yousuke’s grin stretches wider even as his cheeks flush. It’s softer now, papery-thin, but the roughness of Souji’s voice does things to him, and it makes him remember just why his boyfriend’s voice is like that to begin with. Quiet as he is in his day-to-day life – and even in the TV world where he’s at his most intense, he never raises his voice more than he needs to – Souji is loud in bed.

It nearly startled Yosuke at first, the way Souji had gone from carefully controlled breathing to shaky keening as he’d pressed his mouth to the places Souji hates most about himself. It was then that Yosuke had noticed just how rigid Souji had been before and as he stroked and kissed and licked his way along his partner’s body he’d watched the tension bleed out like a long exhale.

It’s like a release of all the weight he keeps on his shoulders every second of the day. Yosuke has seen it; though he’s pretty sure Souji thinks he’s hiding it well. The stress of always meeting demands, of leading the Investigation Team, of being the perfect, model son/student/nephew/friend that the world has apparently convinced Souji he needs to be – it shows. Not many people know what to look for, or even bother to look at all, but Yosuke does. And it makes him sad. Souji does so much for so many people, Yosuke included, and it’s just one more reason he takes so much pride in seeing Souji come so thoroughly undone at his hands.

It’s just another way that Souji trusts him; that Yosuke can show Souji that he can rely on him to take over if the burden gets to be too great. And maybe, if he’s being honest with himself, it’s a little bit selfish, too. Souji only crumbles where he can see, only gasps and pants and calls out his name, only clings and shudders and comes apart under his fingers, his tongue, his hips. It’s selfish and maybe a little childish, but Souji is beautiful and Yosuke can’t find the energy to fault himself for wanting just a few pieces of his partner to keep all his own and away from the rest of the grabbing, expectant world.

But beyond all of that, Yosuke wants to make sure Souji knows just how loved he is. It’s a sappy thought, and one that Yosuke would probably try and deny if called out on it, but it’s true. Souji doesn’t like himself much, struggles with self-hate and low confidence hidden behind a well-built façade. Even after Izanagi’s intervention, it’s something Yosuke knows will never fully leave his partner alone. He knows because Yosuke’s faced self esteem problems of his own and it’s never not sucked. But Souji’s scars stem from a much deeper place, from much farther back in his childhood, and Yosuke wouldn’t be much of a boyfriend if he didn’t take the time every day to remind Souji that he isn’t going anywhere.

Sometimes it’s simple gestures, like squeezing his hand or putting just a bit more emphasis on the “boy” in “boyfriend.”

Other times it’s making him scream and beg until his voice is shot and his body shaking after four orgasms. Yosuke usually winds up with a sore tongue or an aching wrist but it’s well worth it to make sure his partner knows there isn’t a single part of his body that he should be ashamed of.

“I love you,” he whispers into the skin of Souji’s shoulder. Only three words, but he knows Souji will pick up on everything he’s tucked in between the syllables.

There’s a sigh at his ear, the light puff of air from his partner’s shuddering exhale against his sweaty hair. Trembling fingers brush over his bicep, Souji’s body too tired and sated to wrap an arm over Yosuke’s shoulders like he knows Souji wants to. Yosuke kisses his neck, his jaw, the edge of his mouth before Souji lolls his head to fit their lips together properly. The smile he receives as he pulls back is warm enough to thaw ice, and Yosuke secretly adds one more thing to the list of stuff his partner does that only he’s allowed to see.

He presses their foreheads together and breathes in the scent of them as Souji murmurs an “I love you, too,” into the space between their lips.
