Immediately following the final battle with Zenos at the end of 6.0; After granting Zenos the battle he had been pining for ever since he returned from the dead, Yume makes a life altering decision in a brief moment of desperation.

This is my first time ever writing for Yume x Zenos, so I hope you all enjoy!! A HUGE shout out to all who have been so encouraging and supportive of me while I navigate this new ship, especially @meepsthemiqo!! Thank you so much!!

As the two combatants channeled as much aether into their punches as they could, Yume Aino, Warrior of Light, got the upper hand and delt the disgraced Garlean prince a devastating blow. The enshrouded Zenos viator Galvus flew backwards, flipped over and landed face first onto the ground.

Though she could hardly catch her breath, and feeling an overwhelming amount of pain in her chest and abdomen, likely due to cracked ribs and internal bleeding, she quickly surmised, Yume pushed the pain from her conscious mind as much as she could as she slowly dragged her broken form closer to her opponent.

Zenos managed to get up onto his knees and reached out his hand to her, but too much of his life force had been spent and he instead dropped back to ground, this time facing the firmament. A moment later, Zenos’ enshrouded form dissipated from the majority of his body, but his left arm was still twisted with bright red flesh, reminiscent of a voidsent.

The samurai stood close enough to Zenos’ fallen form that she could see him open his eyes as he deeply sighed, “That I should lose again...”

With a chuckle, he closed his eyes before he dejectedly said, “How disappointing.”

Yume shook her head and questioned, “Did you though? Heh… I do not feel victorious.”

“Is that so?”

Before she could say anything more, Yume collapsed under her own weight, falling down right next to Zenos, her hand mere ilms away from his.

She looked over at him, and though her vision had begun to slightly blur, she saw his sky blue eyes aimed upward towards the heavens, yet by the look on his face, she knew his mind was drifting, to where she knew naught.

Zenos must’ve sensed that her focus was upon him, as he began to speak his thoughts aloud.

“Never have I understood those around me. Understood their obsessions.” He paused a moment, the memories of his life floating in and out of consciousness as he continued, “Besieged by their banality, the world was a mire of tedium and trivialities.”

Yume could swear that his eyes shifted to her face briefly, yet the pain was nearly unbearable and it was a struggle to keep listening, let alone to see properly.

The Garlean’s deep, rough voice reached her horns once more; this time she could hear a hint of joy in his tone. “But in these fleeting moments, there is...a spark. Blinding, brilliant... Gone...too soon...”

She let out a small sigh. “Yes… I understand.”

Yume had enough visual clarity to see Zenos turn towards her, trying to catch his breath as blood ran out of his mouth and trickled down his face.

“What of you, Yume, my mirror? Born into this world, bestowed name, bid to seek out strife and adventure...”

Yume turned towards Zenos as much as she could, though it was increasingly difficult to keep her eyes open. As she shut her eyes, the pain that racked her whole body started to slowly fade away, and in turn, her mind’s eye began to wander.

“Was this life a gift...or a burden?”

Her mind wandered to her childhood in Hingashi, images began to rise to her conscious mind and soon fall away to the next; Mt. Aino rising up to the sky, its peak surrounded by clouds, flags flying of the Aino clan’s sigil, the seemingly endless multitudes of people bowing to her father, the duels that always ended with her victory yet with no worthy husband, her slicing her belly open and her father coming to stop her, and her leaving her homeland behind for lands unknown.

“Did you find...fulfillment?” Zenos asked as Yume’s mind continued to wander through the memories of her life.

Images floated to the surface of her new life in Eorzea; her arrival in Limsa Lominsa, first adventuring in Ul’dah, fighting Ifrit, joining the Scions, meeting all of whom she would now consider her found family, going on to fight so many primals, so many Garleans, then the dragons, and then the sin eaters, and finally the blasphemies and then the Endsinger. One victory after another, always more victories, and yet, she still felt the same emptiness as before.

“Did I? Did I… really?” Yume wondered aloud, as her mind flashed to images not of memories of real events as before, but of the dreams that haunted her off and on again for years. Dreams of adventure in far off places she had never experienced before, always with a steadfast companion by her side through all the battles and hardships to come, but also celebrating moments of pure joy and true happiness; she sees the scene of an eternal bonding, realizing that it was in fact her own. Yume gleaming in a white dress, joined hand in hand with the love of her life, sealing their bond with a kiss full of passion and love. Yet, she couldn’t not see her lover’s face. Always was her lover’s face shrouded in shadow. She knew that these must be visions of a future not yet written, and now may never come to pass.

Yume knew in her heart that she was a samurai, and there was no greater honor than to die an honorable death in battle. That was a comforting thought. And yet… it was not enough. She asked herself the same question that Zenos had just asked. Right now, in what could well be her final moments in this life, was she fulfilled? Did she find what she had been looking for in all these years of searching?

With a single tear falling from her eye, Yume answered her beaten opponent’s poignant question, “No… Not yet… There is so much left to experience…”

As the words passed her lips, she heard only a single sound from the man laying next to her.

“I...”

What followed was nothing but silence and darkness, as her vision was failing her, and she could not see nor hear him anymore. Was he still there? Or was it too late?

“Z-Zenos…?” Yume spoke his name aloud as she lifted her hand, reaching out for his. She soon found it, but tears instantly began to fall from her eyes as his skin felt cold in hers.

“No… Do not… leave me…alone…”

Yume gripped his cold hand with the last remains of her energy. If she was to die, then she wanted to die with him, the only man who would ever be worthy of her in her family’s eyes. The only person who could ever understand her, who saw all of her, her beauty and her ugliness, her strengths and her weaknesses, her determination and her doubts. Everyone else only saw the light, but he saw the darkness that she hid deep inside, and he was unafraid. In fact, he welcomed it, and drew it out of her, and made her feel unashamed of herself for the first time in her life.

No. Zenos was the only one that she deemed worthy. If she was to die, then she will die having made her own choice. And she chooses him. Her enemy… her love….

As she felt her consciousness slipping away from her, Yume heard a faint clanging of metal, and then as she still held Zenos’ hand, she felt them both being whisked away, and then arrive in another place.

Yume felt nothing, and she could see nothing, but the very faintest of sounds reached her horns.

“Oh… Yume!”

Was that… Astrid’s voice? Was she back in the ship? Was she in the Ragnarok with the others?

“Yume! And… Zenos?!”

That could only be the exclamations of Arslan, confirming that she had in fact been teleported back to the ship, and Zenos had arrived with her, though if he was alive or dead, Yume did not know.

“Can you hear... Say...” Estinien’s voice called out, though it was incredibly difficult to make sense of what he had said.

Yume heard more voices, Urianger, Y’shtola, Alphinaud and Alisaie, but she couldn’t seem to understand what they were saying at all.

With the last of her strength, Yume opened her eyes enough to see her vision blurred so badly that she couldn’t make out any faces, but she finally spotted her target: a shock of pink entered her sight, and she knew she had found the only person who had a chance of saving him. If anyone could do it, it’d be her.

“H-Hali…” Yume spoke with the last of her breath, “Save… him… p-please…”

As the words left her lips, Yume closed her eyes and let the darkness pass over her. Life or death, she knew not what awaited her. It was out of her hands now.

Valkariel has always been a character trying to find the right balance/compromise between conflicting ideals, but often ends up going too far in one direction and then overcompensating in the other.

In her pursuit for ever stronger magicks since she fled to Coerthas, Valkariel has very likely incrementally upset the balance of her aether. The events in Norvrandt significantly hastened those effects. We suspect that the light took particularly well to her because her fire affinity has always been an overwhelming force, and fire and light are intuitively correlated. In the purely hypothetical situation that she loses control, of either her magic or mind, Valkariel would make for the ultimate sin eater.

As the player behind the character, I am so very blessed to have encountered many kind helpful souls in Eorzea -- those who patiently explained rotations and mechanics when I started out -- those who care very little for my pursuit of glamour, but come along on an adventure anyway -- those who do care as much as I do about glamour, who come up to me and tell me their kind words and share their creations with me. These are all the sorts of things that would pull Valkariel back from the brink, so to speak. I am nowhere near as dramatic as the character Valkariel, but these moments are some of the brightest little sparks in my time in Eorzea. So I hope you're having a good time on this little adventure, because I sure am with your company :>

If they were to find out about the incident, there would have been a recall and the game would start over from scratch, because global news duh. Although, she scroll down her cell phone at the videogames’ review site to see many people having positive reviews of this game. Kristen Beetles too. Holly’s mind wonders off as she is obsessing over the day she snatched a Tiny’mon with her a Tiny’mon Battle Cube, that was so familiar, as the tiny cold droplet of white snowflakes and downpour of rain falling down in the City of Townsville. Holly put her cell phone back into her backpack and stand there at the transit bus stop. Holly let out a sigh because she shouldn’t be thinking about Tiny’mon right now. It is obviously that they are going back to their respective post secondary now that winter break is over. She and her friends are college/university students after all, and they have their own goal. Holly needs to obtain her Townsville’s community college diplomas (mechanical engineering - design and medical laboratory technician), then re-enters SFIT’s annual showcase in Hope for a scholarship, and she will transfer to SFIT robotics program in her third year of Townsville’s community college with 6.0 full course equivalent. However, she wonders if that person is still there. Still protecting Sans Fransokyo. Holly continues pondering on having a university life in Sans Fransokyo, when a familiar person arrives.

“Hey Holly, cat got your tongue?” Haruko asked.

“Oh, hey Haruko,” Holly greeted, stopping her thoughts about her future. “I am just thinking about being ready to be back at college. How was your break? I know you told me that you want to go to France…. I hope that you gotten your application, if you have doubts. We can do a study group session.”

“Holly, I am feline fine and rejuvenated now. I do not need to be stressed out on the first day back. Plus, you be fine, you are a good friends and also a genius as well. So don’t count chickens before they hatch,” said Haruko, sensing Holly’s intention for helping her. Haruko start checking on her cell phone and entering the Tiny’mon Go! App to waste time in waiting for the transit bus. Haruko frowned, seeing there are no Cat Tiny’mons in this area. She is about to put her cellphone into the secure place of her jacket’s pocket when suddenly, Holly quickly starts up on a new conversation. Noticing that Haruko is playing the Tiny’mon Go! mobile app, perhaps this gamer and gaming informant could helps her.

“Haruko! You are an excellent hacker and gamer,” said Holly. “I just need to know why this Tiny’mon looks so different. Can you look at it for a moment please? Perhaps your experiences in Tiny’mon can help me find the answer that I am looking for.”

“Pawdon me?” Said Haruko. Holly gets her gameheld console from her backpack, open up the console, and activates the game. “You want me to see your Tiny’mon?”

Though she play Tiny’mon, she is only a casual player, rather than hardcore player. Unsure she could help Holly.

“Yeah, because I never seen this Tiny’mon before. It is never appear in the official Tiny’mon Dex I saw in social media people leaks,” Holly explained further and quickly added. “For personal research purpose,”

Haruko narrowed her eyes when she mentioned the word, leaks. She hate spoilers, but this information sparks her interest.

“Could it be an exclusive Tiny’mon?” Haruko wondered. If this Tiny’mon is rare, then she can find out where to get it.

“Sure,” Haruko accepted Holly’s request.

“She looks so cute if it were a cat,” said Haruko, looking at the Tiny’mon Holly just snatched. “It’s totally looks like a furball, which is what the name of this Tiny’mon is called. Though I am unsure where the name Lilly comes from. Hmm, judging by the stats, it is weak. Plus, there are many non-damaging moves and only one damaging move. I suggest you do some grinding to get power points and skills.” Haruko analyzed. Holly nodded, though it was not the answer she is looking for, it is the best advice Haruko gave her. “Thanks for the help,” said Holly. “No paw-lem!” Haruko replied.

The transit bus finally came and the two get onto the bus, with their stuffs, heading to their destined community college.

I’ve been scrolling through your wol posting tag and I absolutely adore Arsay and her throuple with g’raha and y’shtola <3 I was curious, in your canon, what is Raha’s and Shtola’s relationship like without Arsay there and how has it changed over time? Would they count themselves as partners or just partners of Arsay?

omg Thank you!!🥹 I love my catte throuple so much and it's so nice to hear other people like them and the posts I make about them too! That's a really good question. I can't seem to recall making a post about it since being caught up with the msq, so thank you for asking!

This ended up being quite long so I've place it under a read more haha apologies for rambling so much! As well, Happy halloween o/

Initially Shtola and Raha both considered themselves partners to Arsay first and foremost. They both cared for Arsay deeply and agreed to this poly situation because, after everything she's done for them, they wanted to do something for her that would make her happy. I also like to believe because they started off on the wrong foot, it took time for the two to build up trust in each other.

I have many side thoughts about how Raha held himself back while he lived out the persona of the Crystal Exarch, how his hesitance to the relationship caused Arsay to get upset, and how Y'shtola essentially saved the whole polycule very early on by telling the Exarch to get his head out of his ass stop living dishonestly and start thinking about what he really wants to do with his life. How that gave him the spark to think about the possibility of transferring his memories over to the version of himself on the source, since this version of him will never be free from the tower's grasp.

By the time everyone returns to the first, Raha and Shtola consider themselves trusted friends and deeply respect the importance they both have to Arsay. No words about it are exchanged, but there's a mutual understanding that for as long as this can go on for the three of them, it will. Shtola and Raha actually end up spending casual time together in the Rising Stones while Arsay is off doing warrior of light stuff. Turns out they actually have a lot to talk about together. Mostly about magical studies, but Y'shtola strikes me as someone who would be mildly curious to know of the event that took place in the timeline they erased, and Raha for sure would have loved to learn about Y'shtola's involvement in the warring triad stuff and the alexander raids. Plus they can theorize about history and mysteries of both the first and the source! By the time Endwalker starts, Arsay has noticed everyone seems a lot more comfortable with each other. She started asking to spend time all together more often then not. There was no real objections to this surprisingly. They all settle into a consistent dynamic around each other pretty naturally. If you were to ask Raha or Shtola how they defined their relationship at that point they would probably say they were just Arsay's partners and leave it at that. Ask Arsay and she might let slip how she caught the two snuggled up to each other while they were reading on the couch at her apartment.

The next shift between the two is while on the Ragnarok waiting for Arsay to regain consciousness. I have a particular scene in my head which i cant gpose out since I don't have access to the environment so here it is described: --

Y'shtola has placed herself against the wall of the ship, shifting from pose to pose doing her best to contain her nervous energy. They did all that they could to seal up as many of Arsay's wounds as possible. Still it was impossible to tell just how much blood Arsay had split prior to her arrival. What Y'shtola could see is that Arsay's aether was unbelievably weak, having been all but spent in a final clash with (presumably) Zenos. For all Y'shtola knew, Arsay's body arrived to them too late. Her head began to spiral at the thought. So much so that she had failed to notice G'raha had torn himself from Arsay's side to stand next to her. He looked at Y'shtola with a pitiful face, eyes puffy and red, lips pressed into a trembling frown. Neither of them had the wherewithal to speak at this point, and Y'shtola most certainly did not want to. Twelve forbid if a single being on that ship heard her voice shake or crack even the slightest. Instead, G'raha timidly put his hand around Y'shtola's and held it. It was a small gesture, something he'd often do whenever Arsay looked in need of support. It was a comfort to her, to hold hands with a loved one. The two stood together in silence. Their gazes fixed on to Arsay's motionless figure laying in the centre of the room. Y'shtola squeezed G'raha's hand ever so slightly. Holding on to someone you love was a great comfort indeed.

-- Perhaps its not an as romantically charged love, but its love! Shtola and Raha are part of Arsay's tribe and they've come to care deeply for each other. Again, I do not believe either would readily admit to those feelings publicly, but in private conversation with Arsay it's obvious how fond of each other they have become. (this is also when shtola and raha begin feeling more comfortable being intimate together with Arsay >w> she is notorious for doing everything for her partner and not really letting herself be focused on. The two of them work as a team to make sure arsay gets some attention *nods* )

And, imo?, their closeness is kinda backed up by the endwalker patch content where G'raha already knew where to find Y'shtola and did not hesitate to get her for the treasure hunt. And then many of the proceeding patches has Y'shtola saying in passing that she's been in constant communication with G'raha. okay yes im not delusional, I know they are brought up because of them having relevance to the things happening or being done in the plot but still! The way the dialogue is phrased I can't help but put my wolship glasses on lol. I figure Raha and Shtola keep pretty consistent contact even when they are busy doing their own thing, same as Arsay does with them. The most recent development for my wolship is that by 6.5, they are all pretty much married to each other. Unofficially, that is. No ceremony is held or anything of that vein. It was more that they all finally managed to say out loud how much they want to be in each other's lives no matter where the future takes them.

Eventually I picture the three of them getting a proper house together. Arsay surprises G'raha by importing a bunch of furnishings from the crystarium, and dedicates an entire room just for Y'shtola's book collection. She also brings back some flowers native to the Greatwoods for decoration. Until then though home is wherever they are together!

So yeah! thats the break down of grah and shtola part of graharshtola!

Timeline: Post-6.0, MSQ and character death spoilers

An examination of grieving traditions across Eorzea both cultural and personal, as the festival of The Rising grows beyond its initial roots.

The Rising, at its inception, was both a celebration of survival and a memorial for those who had not, held on (what was believed to be, to the best of everyone’s muddled memories) the anniversary of the Seventh Umbral Calamity. But over the course of years and repetition, with distance from the inciting events, all such festivals will undergo change, and Eorzea had been through plenty of it in recent years. Now, in the wake of what the world had feared would be its final days, the purpose has shifted toward general recognition of those who have been lost along the way, and those who survive to honor them. Whatever the citizenry of Eorzea may or may not remember, much is owed to the lost, and many are in need of the public acknowledgment of shared grief regardless of the source. So do all go about remembrance in their own ways.

The citizens of Gridania gather flowers and weave them into garlands, to decorate the city, its memorials, and most especially one another with symbols of regrowth and renewing life. See the children crowned with flowers, Kan-E-Senna with Nymeia lilies braided into her hair for the occasion. The other half of the tradition is carved and decorated masks, of paper and of wood, to be customized in memory of the dead. These are said to take on the lingering grief and regrets of the deceased, anything that might have stained their soul at the time they perished: when completed, they are thrown onto a bonfire to burn away and be purified. Watch the sparks fly into the night, carrying cleansed souls to their rest.

Ul’dah, of course, is home to the Traders, the twin gods of death and commerce, and as such these things are deeply entwined in the public psyche. The many crafters go about their work, seeking through their trades to honor the memories of the past and express the griefs that cannot be spoken, for their own hearts and those who will behold the products of their labor. Of course, in this city of coin, coin speaks the loudest, and the temples and shrines to Nald’thal see an unending pilgrimage during this time of year. See great and small alike file through solemn spaces, offering tithe to the Traders to assure the safe passage of the deceased. Naturally this is also a venue for spectacle, for the well-off to make a grand show of magnanimity and demonstrate to their neighbors just how much they can afford to give, for this is Ul’dah, in the end. But even this serves a purpose: after the hubbub has died down, watch the dutiful caretakers collect the coin, the offerings of food and drink, and pass all the excess along to those in need. They remember, even if the wealthy do not, that to hoard such things out of proportion to the needs of living well is a sin in the eyes of their gods.

In Limsa Lominsa, death has always walked closer at hand for the commonfolk than in other places, for the sea is a cruel mistress and the Navigator’s hand cannot be upon every wheel to guide ships safely home. There is less solemnity here and more celebration, the fallen honored as heroes by voices raised in raucous song. See an extra mug or glass poured out at every table, often more than one, in the name of friends who can no longer partake; and rest assured that by the end of the night, each of these will be stolen away by those still living to enjoy it, with a cheeky muttered thanks in the name of the soul who left their drink unfinished. For those whose grief is too raw or too quiet to celebrate, they take to the shore instead, and there fashion boats to send to the dead, delicate things designed to carry a small cargo far out onto the ocean before it sinks into the depths. A fleet of tiny vessels contrived of paper and thin wood, laden with candles and trinkets and letters addressed to the fallen, drifts out from Vylbrand’s shore, out to where the waves are tall enough to sink them and carry their well-wishes down as far as the Aetherial Sea.

In the frozen north, in Ishgard, the war against the dragons took such a toll for so many centuries that they have their own traditions of remembrance. These have been repurposed in the wake of the war’s end, the dates of festivals shifted to align with the rest of Eorzea as their borders opened. It is still largely a day of worship, where Halone’s faithful spend much of their day in sermons and singing hymns, although the tone and tenor of the sermons has shifted from vengeance and endurance to grace and renewal thanks to the new government’s efforts at reform. See them now, lords in their finery, laborers freshly washed and in their least threadbare garments, each proceeding into their own sanctuaries where they will, for once in their lives, listen to different preachers deliver the same lessons; Ishgard cannot change too quickly, but it is changing. And once the hours of worship are ended, they will leave to find another new tradition as well: while they sat contemplating in pews, cauldrons of soup and stocks of bread have been set out in convenient gathering places by those clergy otherwise unoccupied, free for the taking of any with interest. See them gather around one another, all who are willing, the hungry and the curious, sharing the same warm meals and breaking bread alongside one another, and know that, ever so gradually, Ishgard will change.

To the east in Ala Mhigo, such sharing has become a way of life already. The Mad King brought low many noble families before the Empire ever set foot on their soil, and the Black Wolf suffered none to rise high enough to pose a threat unless they were willing to live at his heel. Now, a generation removed from any such distinctions, all are equals in a land of those once pushed to the margins of society, all sharing its resources as they rebuild; this is no festival, but simply the way life must be. Those who returned from living as refugees brought with them the celebration, however, and it was from this that their own unique variation began: from debating and discussing what traditions they should revive and what those traditions truly entailed, they evolved a practice of telling stories of the days before, reconstructing their history from the fragments they carried away with them. Now see them gather to make the dishes their greatmothers and greatfathers taught them, sharing these among one another as they relate the process of learning to cook, and whatever memories follow upon these. A scholar could write a book of tales from each fire and each gathering and still never complete the tapestry woven of a thousand memories. Ala Mhigo has more to rebuild than its cities, after all, and this too is doing that work.

Of course, cultural traditions often give way to more personal remembrances as well. Every year since Ala Mhigo was retaken, she comes to the border, clad in the gauzy red finery her sister left behind. No one stops her from climbing to the top of the wall, not that anyone could if they were so inclined; but they know what it means to her. She rests there in silence for a while, looking back at the Twelveswood, looking forward to Gyr Abania, and she remembers the moment she first stood on this precipice. See her fingers unconsciously stroke the unmarked skin at the side of her neck as she smiles despite the tears in her eyes; if she speaks, the wind carries away her words before anyone else can hear them.

Two brothers climb alone to a frozen precipice in Coerthas, beside Menphina’s stone, to look out over the view of Ishgard that another keeps in eternal vigil. The flowers they carry were selected in part by their father’s hand, but he is growing too old to manage such an arduous climb, and waits for them in the warmth of the fort below; this moment is for them alone. They speak each in turn, telling their brother stories of what has been since their last visit, telling him the things they should have been able to say to his face. See them embrace one another against the cold and speak to each other as well, sharing words of comfort and confessions of weaknesses they have never been able to bare within the city’s watchful stone walls or under their father’s roof. When they return, they will be stronger for this bond, formed late but not too late after all.

In Thanalan, there is a little church surrounded by a paupers’ lichyard, its carefully-managed coffers securing a little memorial for any who can make their way to its doors regardless of station. At this time of year they always see more visitors, wandering through in a steady stream to lay flowers and offerings by the stones with their carved names; they rarely speak to one another even if their faces are familiar, each bound up in the privacy of grief. This year, a man hesitates at the gate, stocky and begoggled, looking distinctly out of place, on the verge of walking away from confusing and painful memories. See a Miqo’te woman, silver spectacles perched upon her nose, aged past her relative youth by hard years, stop at his side and, against tradition, greet him with a smile. He returns the greeting warmly almost despite himself, and she takes his arm to guide him up toward the church, where they can visit first the head priest and then her daughter, and face the confusion of grief together.

The Scions of the Seventh Dawn have disbanded, of course, as everyone knows; still, those who were once a part of that illustrious company remain close companions, and so no one in Mor Dhona is surprised to see them gather in town for the season. They seem in good cheer despite a certain deliberate gravitas, as they greet one another one by one, and gather supplies fit for a day trip: blankets and baskets, food and wine and pastries, and a large bouquet of Nymeia lilies to accompany it all. Once they’ve determined that all are assembled who will be able to attend, they set off on their hike, up to the stone carved with Thaliak’s symbol, and lay out the feast prepared. See the lilies strewn among them upon the blankets as they settle in for a picnic lunch: each one is an absent friend or mentor, now and forever sharing in these unbreakable bonds. Although no one speaks to them directly, their presence is felt by all, the solidarity of their camaraderie renewed for the living on this day of memory. And as the sun begins to sink toward the horizon, the flowers are gathered up and left beside the stone, to keep one another’s company while the living return to their lives.

Bloodbath Continues, S&P500 Set to Test 5,000

Metallica or President Trump, nothing else matters. The US Non-Farm Payrolls added an impressive 228,000 jobs on Friday, lifting the US dollar. However, the news was ignored elsewhere as stock markets and energy prices cratered, US yields fell, and even gold retreated.

Driving the rush for the exit door was China's announcement of 34% retaliatory tariffs on US imported goods and a "tweaking" of supplies of rare earth elements. A number of developing countries have announced they won't counter-tariff, but we could see the European Union act this week. The ball then falls into President Trump's court. Will he carry out his threats to retaliate with additional tariffs if countries impose their own tariffs in response to his original tariffs?

If this all sounds very confusing, it is. Jerome Powell spoke on Friday, and he sounded confused as well about the economic outlook, commenting that it could cause upward price pressures and downward growth pressures. That's stagflation in my books. Last week's events mean the FOMC Minutes on Wednesday will be completely ignored.

Although tariffs remain the only game in town, China and the US will release CPI data on Thursday. A soft China CPI could give the PBOC room to start lowering rates. Conversely, if March's pre-tariff US CPI remains stubbornly high like February's, the Fed will be between a rock and a hard place, particularly as Trump's social media account implored Mr Powell to cut rates just before he started speaking on Friday.

Friday’s bloodbath saw the S&P 500 tumble 5.97%, the Nasdaq slump 5.82%, and the Dow Jones fall 5.50%. Elsewhere, the US dollar index rose 0.93%, but oil prices collapsed by around 6.0%, and even gold fell by 2.46% as investors piled into government bonds and cash.

Wall Street's Friday price action means Asia Pacific stock markets will likely open lower today, and the pressure will continue on regional currencies. Indonesia reopens after a well-timed week off, and local stocks and the Rupiah could face an ugly catch-up. If USD/IDR opens at 17,000.00 today, I won’t be the least bit surprised.

One ray of hope could be if individual countries in the region are able to cut a tariff deal with the US, perhaps luring back localised buyers. China seems determined to fight fire with fire, and if the EU joins the fray and the White House bites back, the international stage will look like a three-way dogfight.

But perhaps things aren't so grim. Despite the market being universally bearish and full of doom and gloom, the S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow Jones all hit my price targets last Friday. The technical indicators show all three to be heavily oversold. A period of calm tomorrow could see a correction higher by all three indices, potentially lasting a few sessions.

The Nasdaq neared 17,300 regions on Friday, good enough for me to pencil a win on the 17,000 target. Its Relative Strength Index (RSI) is massively oversold, a short-term bullish indication. Likewise, the slower MACD line climbed above the faster line on Friday, although the overall momentum picture is still negative. Support around 17,250 held, and although resistance above 19,100 is formidable, the charts suggest a modest recovery is possible.

The S&P 500 looks shakier as the 5000/5100 price target was achieved. But the MACD lines have crossed, and the RSI is heavily oversold. Some consolidation could spark a relief rally, although it is hard to see resistance at 5,500 being tested.

Gold also wobbled on Friday, closing at $3,038.00 an ounce. The chart remains unequivocally bullish, with the RSI falling into neutral territory. Trendline support at $3056.00 has failed, but another trendline at $3,015.00 is near. Gold could edge lower as the week begins, but it will run into support at $2,955.00, the 100-DMA at 2,938.00, and then $2,830.

Though she and Ricmorn assured the young lord several times throughout the week — and the months prior — the bruise looked worse than it was, he felt bad for having to bite her as hard as he did. Silva looked up at her other lover when he became quiet, growing worried when she felt a brief flicker of sadness flow between them. “Hey…” she said softly, sitting up a little, “I’m okay, I promise you.” His hazel eyes met her gaze, and she offered him a kind smile, reaching to brush some of his unruly jet-black hair from his face. “Does it hurt a little still? Yes — I will not lie to you. Does the bruising look absolutely worse than it is? Yes. But I am perfectly fine! It will heal in time, and all I will have left is the scarring of your teeth — just like Ricmorn’s mark on my other shoulder.”

He knew she wasn’t lying to him. He could see nothing but truth shimmering in her eyes and feel it in their connection. “I know, Silva. I know,” he sighed, leaning into her comforting touch when her palm rested against his cheek.

But all Hien could think about now that his mind was clear was he had hurt her — the person he loved most in the world and swore he would never cause her pain of any kind. The king could vaguely recall the pained whimper she let slip when he marked her before it turned into moans of pleasure.

Silva kicked the rest of the thin sheets off of her before giving the Hyur her complete and undivided attention, noticing how his sun-kissed cheeks turned pink as he sat up in their bed with her — knowing it wasn’t from the humid heat of Thavnair. She came to rest on her knees before cupping his face between her small palms, making sure he looked at her while she spoke words of love, comfort, and reassurance.

“Thank you for taking a moment to speak openly with me and for your comforting words, sweetheart. They ease my worries more than you’ll ever know.”

“Of course!” the Auri woman beamed. “You let me freely speak with you on numerous occasions. ‘Tis only fair you have the space to do the same.”

One of his hands left her waist to comb through her wild, short waves, gently untangling any knots he found. The pleased noise rumbling deep in her chest melted his heart. “And I… sincerely apologize for letting my emotions get mixed up with yours through our bond. That was not my intention, and I will do my best to try not to let that happen often,” he said, hoping his beloved would forgive him.

“You will teach me, yes?”
