Excerpt from Landslide || For My Sin-Stained Bones

" Fidel."

" Hey, Fidel."

" Fidel." Natia shot up like a bullet out of a gun and pulled the weapon at her side straight from it's holster and pointed it straight in the direction of the voice who spoke to her. On the other side was the last person she'd expect to see standing in her presence.

The hooded Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Speirs. He didn't flinch at the weapon pointed towards his face - if anything he invited it like he were about to bring it to a dance. His cold eyes remained on her, as a sudden bit of realization hit her like a brick - it was no wonder why his face was shadowed by something and not equally mixing with the darkness around them. It was day, morning - a fresh day.

" Why were you outside?" he asked her.

" Why did you wake me?" Lieutenant Speirs smirked the slightest bit at her comment, as they lay on equal ends by this point in time.

" Well, it seems your CO's looking for you and I just so happened to be moving through HQ at the exact same time and overheard, so I suggest you head up there now." Lieutenant Speirs said, his voice much calmer than she had suspected it to be.

" What exactly did he mean by looking for me?" she said. Lieutenant Speirs walked forward and within a second, pushed the pistol down from her hands, and had then shoved it into his own away from her grasp, taking a step closer to her as he did so, eyes watching her own.

" Maybe it has something to do with pointing something like this in the face of your ally." he said, as he securely placed the pistol into her holster as she stood frozen, eyes narrowed on him.

" It seems the least of Captain Winters' worries." she said back, her eyes settling in his as he slowly stepped back. She let a chilled smirk past her lips.

" Your turn - why were you outside? It rained all night." Lieutenant Speirs' voice said rather coldly himself as he stepped back arms crossed.

" How is it that you always cross my path when I'm least interested in conversation?"

" Why are you avoiding my question, Agent?" Natia bit back her lip and shook her head. Crossing her arms, she felt the sun grow warmer it seemed, as her flushed cheeks from the heat caused the hair from her bun to fall and stick to her cheeks, her heart racing faster - he didn't know did he?

" I had bigger issues than sleep, Lieutenant." she answered him - she refused to tell him that she no longer slept well, that sleeping kept awake the demons that the consciousness pushed out, that the night was the only comfort she had anymore and even then the level of comfort was dismal. Lieutenant Speirs nodded briefly to her as he watched something in her eyes shift, a deeper darkness than what other eyes he watched had possessed.

" Agent-" Natia glanced over her shoulder to see Lieutenant Welsh in the doorway of the barn door and his eyes were on Lieutenant Speirs.

" Lieutenant." Lieutenant Welsh said nodding to him. Lieutenant Speirs gave a rather curt nod to Lieutenant Welsh before glancing back at her and without so much as meeting her eyes, he turned to walk away. Thompson slapping his shoulder, helmet hooded over his head, and a steady gate leading him away, she watched him retreat back towards where HQ was.

Natia watched him with narrowed eyes, like blinders were up and all she could focus on was the retreating Lieutenant who showed up at the most random of times with a bite on his tongue.

" What'd he want?" Lieutenant Welsh asked her, for the first time in weeks, speaking directly to her in a conversation not binded by war.

" He told me Captain Winters was looking for me." she said stiffly, " Moving through HQ...overheard him or something."

" He's just trying to get under your skin because he knows with you, you'll put up a fight." Lieutenant Welsh told her, " All the other guys are too scared to even, oh I don't know, look at him."

-There's a fun and healthy level of competition when it comes to games and downtime, which the both of you enjoy

-And everyone knows how good you two are at keeping spirits up and preserving morale, especially for each other

-The kind of emotional atunement to one another is rare to find I think that everyone is slightly envious of the two of you

Carwood Lipton:

-A responsible mom friend meets another responsible mom friend—and you know what? The level of married couple that you two are off the bat from meeting one another is just too much haha

-It's the domestic details and trying to check in on people/their mental health throughout the war, it's the way that the two of you know exactly how to care for one another in a non-overbearing sort. of way—

-If Lipton is the undisputed leader of Easy Company during Bastogne, then you're the undisputed right hand person—always putting the needs of the men and your S/O before yourself

-Selflessness and genuine love is also really rare to come by and I think that this is just what Lipton really needs—a support who is just a little bit too much like him

-You two are easily married by the time you end up in Austria

Joe Liebgott:

-Why is this giving gremlin energy? I can't explain it, but the way that the two of you constantly flirt and joke and have each other's backs is amazing

-Everyone is just like, "Lieb, there's two of you" and they're not wrong

-Supporting one another's beliefs and vengeance—because sometimes it's not about making the other person better, it's just about accepting them as they are and loving them anyway

-Easy Company simply adores the two of you and the way that you two succinctly work as a team and in tandem most of the time

-But you two are also so incorrigible and horny at any given time, so that's their one vice with the two of you

Donald Malarkey:

-This man?? Right here? The best friend energy that he exudes and now gets to have with you? Amazing

-It's the way that your relationship feels like breathing air because the two of you are so easily able to talk to one another, are each other's best friends, and the way that you care fiercely about one another and everyone else

-Exchanging stories from home and sternly commanding the other to please "get some sleep or eat something" because you love them?? It's a love language

-If you two aren't engaged by the end of the war, then what's the point?

Bill Guarnere:

-Loyal to a fault, good sense of humor, probably from Philly? I mean, it's no wonder this man fell for you, you're just him in another font

-Literally everyone out here just wants to be friends with the two of you because you're already lowkey married, if that makes sense

-The conversation alone leaves everyone just wishing the two of you would get a room though

-Physically affectionate best friends who also makeout and maybe have some serious feelings for one another? Absolutely

-He absolutely writes you letters throughout the rest of the war after Bastogne and wants to marry you ASAP

Joe Toye:

-Quiet energy that lowkey makes people scared because of an RBF but then is super gentle? Oh yes, the two of you were made for one another

-You two easily become friends and easily fall in love—after all, the level of devotion and friendship, but also the ability to actually talk to one another? Unmatched

-He always has your back and vice versa; he already wants to talk about domestic life and you're out here naming your future dogs together

-And then Bastogne happens and you promise that you're gonna make it home so you can take care of him

-And no one is surprised when the same week you get home from the war, you end up married to him

George Luz:

-The comedic value here is too great and far unmatched. You're either super menaces together and leadership hates the two of you or you are carrying the morale of Easy Company on your backs.

-He's never met someone to match his humor so well or encourage him in the same way that he does others—and it's a beautiful match made in heaven

-Everyone is half-convinced that you're just his twin or something, but then the two of you are in love and everyone is rooting for the two of you

-You probably both propose to one another in a joke at some point and then have to actually do a proposal later on at the end of the war

-Everyone shows up for the wedding because no one was gonna miss out on the speeches that the two of you prepared haha

BofB boys but them doing group presentation in modern college AU

Winters: teamed up with Nix, he did the slides.

Nixon: a witness said he did nothing but sitting there being beautiful but that’s not true he helped gathered the infos and went on stage to do the whole presentation

Speirs : teamed up with Lipton (who was the only one who asked him to team up with). He did the slides but the man with great skills of information briefing had terrible layout taste which lead to their first version of the slides end up with 24pt American typewriter font on blank white background.

Lipton : teamed up with Speirs. He tried to add cute icons on their slides to save it visually. Soft boy went 50/50 portion of the stage presentation with Speirs, which was a big relief for the audiences who found Speirs scary.

Luz : teamed up with Toye. Their slide is a emoji mayhem but dude’s presentation skill saved the day.

Toye : the one who could have save their slide from becoming emoji mayhem but too nice to spoil the fun.

Liebgott : he didn’t want to team up with Webster but he sold his soul to the grades. Had arguments with Webster with the slide’s topic, their debate was so loud that the librarian kicked them out.

Webster: “scholar boy” of the class which means he’s the party pooper rambling on academic things that nobody asks for knowing. Annoyed when Liebgott tried to stop him from putting literature memes that little would find funny on the slide. He insisted on doing the reference page with APA style.

if u had to choose 2 ppl from each hbo war show to create the most insufferable gropu known to man, who would u pick? (i would say web and leckie r obviously there bc how could they not)

web, leckie, and ME!…. iconic triumvirate of insufferable losers.

this might be slightly controversial but my top picks are actually going to be leckie & snafu from tp, perconte & speirs from bob, and harding & bucky from mota. i will explain my choices under the read more for anyone who is curious

anyway i approached this as like. whats a nightmare socratic seminar. nightmare blunt rotation. and the key to that is not really do i personally find them annoying but are they capable of pissing everyone else off so much that if i were in the vicinity the vibes would be so rancid it would make me want to kill myself.

this is why we have to cut webster. do i want to be stuck in a room with him? no. however that poor man is so bully-able its so easy to dunk on him and there is no situation in which he could survive some of my ideal groupings without getting bullied so hard that i just feel bad for the guy. so he has to leave goodbye!

as for the rest of them. leckie is so naturally and frankly beautifully anti authority i think he would get along absolutely terribly with harding and speirs. snafu has such a natural ability to harsh the vibes so hes gotta be there. perconte is first and foremost a complainer and whiner he will be bitching the whole time and i think everyone else will want to strangle him for it. speirs is also here to harsh the vibes just in a different way. harding honestly just personally annoying to me lmao idk its that smug pilot douchey energy idk im not a fan. also leckie would tear his ass to shreds i think. dare i say an iconic kill larkin or shut the fuck up moment in the making. as for bucky i have some reservations about this one. not because i dont think hes annoying. hes soooo annoying #AnnoyingKing however i am frightened that his friendly nature will have him unionizing with say leckie and/or snafu. this may work in our favor or it may not. idk its hard to say hes a wild card. however i must put my faith in his ability to be a massive bitch and make terrible decisions and #Lose. #NeverStopLosing

unfortunately there are simply too many things to consider and it, at the end of the day, depends. and of course there are so many ways to be insufferable this is merely one of its many infinite variations.
