Hopping back in the “when did Donnie get sick” train because of your latest update with memory ritual Casey, I think I have a pretty good guess as to what got Donnie.

The very long episode known as episode two, aka “carry the uncles.”

We see them extremely battered, can from the looks of it, both of them have a couple open wounds. While infection can get in though the holes on our faces (nose, eyes, mouth), it can also get in through the bloodstream, where it is usually identified by white blood cells.

Donnie is significantly more battered than Casey, who appears to be severely bleeding though his leg, plastron, side, and forehead. All prime locations to get into the bloodstream unnoticed.

(Another thing. Outsider cells can pose as insider cells, which is usually how stuff like cancer happens. I don’t doubt that when the kraang made that virus they took a few humans to make sure it was extremely lethal and wouldn’t get fucked over by Donnie’s white blood cells, as you said before that the area around Donnie’s grave turned so desolate that even other kraang vines were KILLED by the infection. (Which makes me think it behaves like the fungal virus of the last of us but worse.))

The earliest we see Donnie obviously pull his dramatics is episode six, primarily the first pannel of part two of episode six, kraangified.

This is the very same episode where he perched on Raph by using his spidershell’s arms.

Donnie was most likely feeling the effects even earlier, but because the episodes between 2 and six are more filler and elaboration (and also where people speculate he got it, episode three.) we don’t know.

I should note, people claim he got it in episode three when he ran a kraang over. This is likely not true, as you stated the infection killed kraang vines around Donnie’s grave. Why would you carry it on your body for long periods of time with how lethal it is? Wouldn’t you put it on one of your hounds or zombies?

From episode 6 onward, we see Donnie increasingly get more dramatic and need to rely on his tech more until he, unfortunately, goes poof from this plane of existence.

(One more thing I want to add is that this infection was most likely similar to a fungus or cancer, as it was eating up Donnie from the inside and transforming his cells into other cells, which is most likely how his blood turned pink.)

Anyway, theory time over, thanks again for giving us this wonderful series, can’t wait to see what happens when small donnie realizes why Casey got so upset over big donnie.

i want to talk about donnie's battleshells

here's the thing donnie has two distinctive shells he wears regularly in the show

his battleshell

and his fightshell

he refers to them as a collective as just battleshells but in mascot melee he does call the fightshell a fightshell

now there is a lot of differences between the two shells past just general shape

did you know that the fightshell is the one with spider legs? and it is consistently animated as the one with spider legs

did you know the battleshell is the one that he uses to fly? and it is consistently animated as the one that can fly

these two things in fanmade content are often things that the battleshell does both of. one moment he'll be using it to fly the next to use the spider legs to grab something.

these are two different functions that do not cross back and forth from shell to shell

now there are also a good number of fans that will call the fightshell his spidershell because of the spider legs. so there are other people who have seen the difference and i am not faulting anyone for not knowing the name. it was a one off mention and is never referred that way again

i dunno maybe i'm just too stickler for the little details and want the same consistency from fans as the show we all love. and honestly as much as it bothers me it would bother me more if people thought i was trying to police their creation. and i'm not, just wanted to share a small detail that i notice can be overlooked

Leo and Donnie do have that dynamic, yes! They are close and get along very well, and Leo will be a shoulder to cry on if Donnie is upset over something BM has done (then Leo may... get some revenge for his brother), but they will argue and fight as well. Leo is even more stuck up here then in Canon, so Donnie definitely savors every win he's able to get, and Leo definitely loves bragging about his 99% win rate JWBEKFN

Leo is, yes! That's one of his largest inspirations. Leo, in the AU, is an obsessive, lovesick stalker who does everything from blackmailing, breaking and entering, trying to mentally break his victims for entertainment, etc. Tho Usagi is the only victim that Leo ever actually fell in love with, most other victims had no romantic feelings or were more like high-school puppy love. They are all more violent and morally ambiguous, they have and do good and bad things. Leo is violent, obsessive, and manipulative, but he is also loyal, earnest, and always let's those he cares about know it.

YOU ARE SPOT ON WITH APRIL QIWBEJEJRJRJ!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY! DEF CANON NOW WKEBEKDN!!!! April is very unimpressed and it's basically impossible to surprise or scare her. She's basically siblings with the boys, but she also uses them for her own benefit. She will use them for news reports, and may ask them to hurt people or let her get blurry photo to scare people. She spreads conspiracy theories and likes getting people on bandwagons for clout and such. Donnie and Leo are the only ones allowed to touch/braid her hair, Mikey tried to tie her to a chair once and he got his ass BEAT

Mikey will either practice for his next show at the nexus, read comics/watch cartoons, make art (he tends to make disturbing/provoking graffiti around New York, he likes designing tattoos, etc), he also likes sewing and makes his own clothes, and likes cooking! He only cooks for his family, and about 40% of the time it'll have some type of posion :P

Yes!!!!! They all show physical affection! Leo is the most touchy, he will almost always be touching/holding anyone around him. Him and Mikey will often have arms around eachother, hug, pat eachother, etc. Donnie doesn't like being touched really, but he will let Leo hold onto some of his spidershell arms. Raph will often just lean against the others, but he let's his brothers sit or rest on his shell if they don't bother him much. April let's Leo and Don touch her hair, and Leo can hold onto her sleeves if he wants. They will occasionally also turtle pile, Leo just pretends to sleep tho cus he wants to be involved IWBWKEJFJF (if you ever see Leo holding onto someone's waist or something, this is why! It's not at all romantic ((ew)), he just likes physical touch)

While the other version of Leo spews vicious and unending profanity, this native version’s eyes get wider and wider, gleaming in fascination. Donnie takes pity on Raph’s futile efforts to cover Leo’s eardrums and slaps his hands to the sides of his twin’s head with perhaps more force than necessary. “You are never allowed to speak with that version of yourself ever again,” he says. “Such vulgarity. Scoff. The vocabulary of the ignorant.” While saying so, his attention is transfixed on the newcomer and the new words he’s spewing, and his spidershell arms are jotting notes madly just out of his brother’s view.

The Purple Game

A few days ago i wrote an “analysis” about The Purple Game on our rottmnt discord server while I was watching it, and I thought it would be nice if I collected everything in one post...

-you know what? i'm gonna rewatch the purple game for the umpteenth time and i'm gonna try to pinpoint why it makes me so damn sad every time

-ALRIGHT HERE GOES

-first thing i notice now, the purple dragons made this game so specifically to cater to donnie there's the giant mech, the competitiveness, exclusiveness, even his favorite color, its kinda scary how well they know him

-the montage of donnie gaming is super unsettling, the way you see the hours fly by,, the close-up shots,,,,

-"yes this is the greatest game of all time stop talking to me" god the way he delivers that line 😭

-i love the way raph nudges donnie here, its such a soft gesture

-HHHHHH THIS BIT, THIS TINY SEQUENCE,,, THEY KNOW DONNIE ISNT FINE

-the way they leave in total silence, with just the music and donnie's frantic clicking in the background,,,

-my heart 😢

-THIS FACE,, there's probably a little voice telling him its a very bad and dishonest idea to steal his brothers' money,, that its not worth the trouble

-raph mikey and leo had such a good time together, and even tho donnie had chosen to stay home they STILL brought him a gift cuz they wanted to share the good times with him 😢😭

-although this bit is mostly played for laughs the aggressiveness donnie shows is really accurate for this kind of toxic obsessiveness

-such a meaningless victory, and yet he's so blissful

-raph leo and mikey are so set on helping donnie out they did what seemed obvious for them, reading every article on the internet about game obsession

-they might not be the smartest but damn do they try and care 😭

-donnie send shelldon as a replacement because 'he couldnt make it' B I T C H

-raph is SO DONE with donnie,, his soft concern has made place for pure rage and disappointment

-the mech is SO BIG AND VIOLENT OMFG

-THE MUSIC WHEN MIKEY IS RUNNING UP TOWARDS THE MECH,,, ITS SO INTENSE AND I LOVE IT

-the stark contrast between the fight we just saw and the way the game shows,,, its so sharp 😥

-the way mikey says "donnie is... controlling the mech.." is so heartbreaking

-"HEY DONNIE ITS US YOUR BROTHERS" leo i love you so much 😭

-THE GAME ENCOURAGES DONNIE TO KEEP ATTACKING THE BEARS AKA HIS BROTHERS THATS SO CRUEL

-"we gotta get a message to donnie" "how? he doesnt respond to anything" AHHHHHH

-raph really is done with being a softie towards donnie, like what a change he made in this ep in comparison to donnie's gifts

-"Donnie the mech is real, STOP PLAYING THE GAME DONNIE" there's something so eery about the way raph basically begs donnie to stop
