some doodles of the find your way home ninjago au made by @spinchip !!! i LOVE this au so so much its literally such a cool concept and i had to doodle sumthin related to it:3 so heres my own interpretation of lloyd (his ninja gi is more of my style but i just HAD to keep the hoodie, its literally so cool) and zane and erm one singular gang doodle.

closed captions: lloyd (first picture): 1) lloyd is looking confused, he has a green ninja gi and his old season1 hoodie on top of it. he is looking over his shoulder and one of his shoes is untied. 2.1) lloyd (thinking): maybe i should have stayed home with mom and uncle 2.2)(later) nah, this is AWESOME! (blasting griffi turner, the master of speed, it the face with a green energy blast) (this relates to an ask spinchip, the creator of this au, answered saying that lloyd wins all of his tournament matches!) zane and other doodles (second picture): 1) zane is looking unsure, he has a scarf and a coat on, and his falcon, perched up on his arm, is snuggling up to him. 2)pixal is standing next to zane, clearly proud. she says out-loud "im ninjagos first android!!", poiting to herself. zane is standing next to her, a bit wide-eye, thinking "she's gonna be so mad" (also relates to an ask spinchip answered) 3) small doodles of nya, kai, jay, cole lloyd and pixal are all standing next to eachother. they are all thinking: "everyone here is so weird thank fsm (short for first spinjitsu master) im the normal one". lloyd is visibally shorter then everyone else.

Happy Valentine's Day! Little reference-less Nya doodle that is technically no longer a doodle.

Rant below

The general fandom consensus is that Kai and Nya's last names is Smith. I get that, in fact for a while I even supported it, but as of lately i rewatched the whole show with my little siblings who were watching it for the first time and now my brain is picking the worldbuilding apart. So. Characters in this show with confirmed last names take one of two forms (except Lloyd. We'll get back to him later) Some characters have western-style Sur names (Jay Walker/Gordon, Cyrus Borg, Pixal Borg) where there is one family name that comes after the given name and women take their husbands' names. Other characters have something more Middle Eastern (which is completely random, why wouldn't it be something East Asian this is a heavily East Asian inspired show) where characters have a given name followed by their Father's given name (Skylar Chen, Zane Julien). The fact that there are two different systems in play is somewhat confusing, but the reason it's so aggravating is that which system is used for which character seems to be completely arbitrary. To alleviate my frustration, I decided to headcannon that the second system (given name-father's name) is a more traditional system while the first one (given name-sur name) is modern. In support of this would be Wu and Garmadon, since neither of them have last names. Them being them, they'd definitely use the older system, but their dad is The First Spinjitsu Master, which is a mouthful of a last name (he might have had a real name but they clearly don't want anyone to know it if he did) (I don't care what the movie says his name is not Garmadon Garmadon)

Then there's Lloyd. Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon. So to start, his last name is Garmadon, his dad's given name. So following the second system. But his middle name is Montgomery, believed to be his mother's maiden name. So following the first system. So which is it Lloyd???

Anyway, to the point. Kai and Nya Smith. Their family has always come off as more traditional to me, from them being from that little village, Nya's choice of both casual and formal clothes, as well as their general vibes. If they aren't well then I headcannon them to be. So anyway, by that logic, traditional people=traditional names. But their names are Kai and Nya Smith. And y'know the worst part. Kai Ray and Nya Ray sounds so awful. Those are terrible names. I'm so so mad and this is so so unimportant. Enjoy the art.
