Tips for Writing Python Code
Python is a versatile programming language with many purposes. It's the go-to language for building dynamic websites and feature-rich software. However, it can also be a valuable tool in data analysis, spreadsheet automation and more.
It can take time to learn Python and harness its true potential. To help you get there, here are a few tips for writing Python code.
Take Advantage of Sets
In Python, sets are unordered collections of data. They have no duplicate content. Therefore, learning to use sets is a great way to perform calculations. Many analysts use sets instead of traditional lists when they only need unique values.
Try converting lists to sets with curly brackets. When you create a set, Python can make internal optimizations. It's also a great way to calculate intersections and differences between multiple sets.
Use Generators
Let's say that you have a list with thousands of items. Your goal is to calculate the sum of those items. This is a common task for analysts, but you may also use it for software development. Whatever the case, there are multiple ways to approach this task.
The most straightforward is to perform the calculation with the list. However, doing so can lead to disastrous memory issues.
One game-changing workaround is to use generator comprehension. These comprehensions are similar to list comprehensions and have the same syntax. However, they use parentheses instead of brackets.
The generator comprehension generates one item at a time. As a result, it uses significantly less memory than a list.
Simplify Your If Statements
"If" statements are the backbone of Python and can come in handy for virtually every application of the language. For the most part, using these statements is easy. But when you have to apply them to a long list of items, it can become cumbersome and increase the risk of errors.
One way to improve efficiency is to use an "if x in" list. You can apply this syntax to an entire list, saving you time.
Take Advantage of Automation
Our final tip is to use automation whenever you can. Python is a powerful language that helps many professions. But using it can be a hassle. AI-powered automation lets you take advantage of the language's best features while skipping the menial tasks. If you're an analyst, consider using spreadsheet automation. It's a game-changer that will let you avoid complicated workaround or waiting for IT support.
Transform your Python spreadsheets: click now to optimize your data like never before!

yesterday i was asking my dad (a guy who is also a ~spreadsheets 4 lyfe~ type of guy, i come by it honestly) about some specific equation types because i couldn't find where i'd used it previously and i couldn't remember what it was called enough to look it up. and he didn't know what tf i was talking about. he just recommended using data sort. and so i had to dig out my old flight rising fodder boarding manager document and figure out tf the equations were (it was just nested countifs) and when i showed him he was like. i have never heard of that. cool.

i will not apply to the graduate assistant position i will not apply to the graduate assistant position i will not
#sophies ramblings#it pays but im tryna graduate and i should let the francophonists get a chance at it#also half of this this could 100% be automated through a simple python script that converts w JSON and divides texts by word#you can then really easily convert that to CSV and there's your spreadsheet

you guys I'm so serious we need to make sure AI goes the way of crypto, NFTs, and the fucking Google Glass. We can't let the joyless tech bros who want to commodify and algorithm-ize everything just for profit get their hands on the last vestiges of literal human art and creativity. you do not want the world where every movie and tv show and novel and song is a fake, lifeless, computer-generated hodge-podge of stolen work from actual creators of the past just recycling itself into eternity.
#what is the point of anything if we don't have humans using their unique and varied skills and feelings to make new stuff!!!!!#it's literally all we have left at this point and they want to turn that into automated code and spreadsheets too!!!!#make it stop!!#AI

Also hoping you saw some of the recent Drarry hockey AUs: change on the fly by legendrarry is high school rivals that just was completed yesterday and Champions of Karlstad by Dexiha is Swedish Hockey League rivals. all of the sinners the same by lemonfractals is a "winner's room" fic too!
DUUUUUUUUDE NO I HAVE NOT SEEN THOSE!!!!! I am so out of the loop with Drarry right now, holy COW!!!
My excel function wasn't particularly fancy but it made me happy! So we run these reports at my job looking at wait times to get into our programs (to work on cutting those down if we can), so we look at averages but then for purposes of visualization, my boss wants us to code the times (by us I really mean the interns) and they've been just doing it by hand? So I wrote a little nested if... then function for the 5 levels and iT WORKED!!!

figured out how to automate creating my folder structures for my texture upscaling work. including copy pasting the original texture files and creating a txt doc that dynamically changes based on the given folder name
#ty macos for the shortcuts app#i was manually creating a bunch of folders and copy pasting stuff and i was like. surely theres a faster way to do this#since im repeating a lot of the same actions. just changing small things for each texture set#and lo and behold! hehehehehehe#i love automating small tasks#this is like how i learned how to label all my emails automatically. or making my fancy pokedex spreadsheet using bulbapedia data#crazy how learning a bit about programming can prime you to ask 'how can i make this easier for myself'#bc that shit's tedious LOL#thesilentpotato

sorry I know I’m being extremely annoying right now but the claim that the electronic calculator ‘did not forcibly pervade every aspect of our lives’ is so boldly and confidently wrong it’s impressive. the ability to automate the act of quantification (ie what an electronic calculator does) is probably as central to modern commerce and society as like, the transistor or the lightbulb. a world where excel spreadsheets do not exist is a fundamentally alien one to most people on planet earth. all geospatial software is built on the ability to do math on the fly. can you imagine the world today without google maps? can you even begin to comprehend a society not dominated by numbers? even these examples undersell how fundamental automated calculations are because this technology did in fact pervade every aspect of life. the fact that you think a calculator is simply a plastic doohickey you were taught to use in grade nine math is maliciously literal. like these arguments are so nakedly and openly anti-intellectual that I would say it makes it clear that no one should take you seriously, but posting this kind of mind-numbing slop is one of the easiest ways to do numbers on tumblr right now, which is something you also wouldn’t be able to do without the invention of an electronic calculator

What is Python Automation?
In the rapidly evolving world of technology, automation stands as a cornerstone, significantly enhancing efficiency, accuracy and productivity in various domains. At the heart of this transformation lies Python automation, a powerful approach to scripting and automating repetitive tasks that otherwise consume valuable time and resources.
The Essence of Python Automation
Python automation leverages the simplicity and versatility of the Python programming language to create scripts that perform tasks automatically. This can range from data analysis, file management and network configuration, to web scraping. The beauty of Python lies in its extensive libraries and frameworks that cater to different automation needs, making it accessible to both beginners and seasoned developers. Its syntax is clear and concise, reducing the complexity of writing automation scripts and making the process more intuitive.
Automating Excel Using Python
One of the most practical applications of Python automation is managing and manipulating Excel files, a task known as "automating Excel with Python". This involves using libraries such as Pandas and OpenPyXL to read, write and modify Excel spreadsheets without the need for manual input. Automating Excel using Python not only speeds up data processing tasks but also minimizes errors, ensuring that data management is both efficient and reliable.
In workplaces where Excel is a staple for reporting and data analysis, this aspect of Python automation proves invaluable. It allows users to automate data entry, formatting and even complex calculations, turning hours of manual work into a few minutes of script execution.
Conclusion
Python automation is transforming the landscape of digital workflows, offering scalable and efficient solutions to mundane tasks. From web development to automating Excel with Python, its applications are vast and varied, catering to the needs of a wide range of industries. As we move forward, the role of Python in automation is set to grow, highlighting its importance in driving productivity and innovation in the digital age.
