Sicknario inspo: This post about a sick forest-dwelling being looked after by a stranger and this post about meeting via whump. 

Author’s comments/background: Read my other Sprite Kingdom story here. If anyone cares, this is set many years after the old fic when Aleander is happily retired and quite content being grumpy and crotchety in his hidden cottage in the woods on his own. (Also, yet another doctor/healer character lol. I really do have a problem apparently.)

Though one of the longer things I wrote this year, this one wrote itself very easily for whatever reason. I enjoy writing fantasy things, and I just love the autumn Cottagecore vibes that are saturated through this one. I’m also very happy with a lot of the phrasing I used. Even though you guys may not know theses OCs I do hope some of you will give it a read for my sake.

Aleander poked his head in to check on his surprise visitor once more before going out. The young sprite, whose name he had yet to learn, was still fast asleep. The elder sprite had gathered that the traveler had had an adverse reaction to some flora in this part of the woods. The youngster's eyes had been nearly swollen shut, his breathing was labored, and he was covered in hives when he’d come stumbling out of the woods and had all but collapsed on Aleander’s doorstep. Though Aleander had retired from his formal healer role, old habits die hard, and he had a very well-stocked medicine chest. The stranger improved greatly after a heavy dose of antihistamines and had been sleeping soundly ever since. 

Aleander had planned to go foraging today since winter was coming on fast. He wasn’t keen to leave a stranger unattended in his home, though he sensed the young man meant no harm. The visitor had been docile and thankful in the short interaction they’d had, but couldn’t speak much due to his narrowed airway, and he’s been so sick and scared that it was hard to get a true reading of his intentions. Aleander also wasn’t keen to change his plans, though. He had decided to compromise and only go out for a few hours today, just to get the absolute necessities, and pray the weather would hold out to allow him one more day to fully stock up. 

The gods showed him favor this day. The weather had been ideal these last weeks for herbs and barks and fungi, and he came across several thick, healthy patches of the necessities he was looking for. He was able to find all he needed in about half the usual time. He strolled back to his cottage, whistling. He noticed with some irritation, though, that the tickling cough he’d woken up with was worsening into a lovely sore throat and sniffles. He was glad, in the end, that he hadn’t had to be outside all day because he was sure the dry, cold air was worsening his complaints. 

The stranger was still sound asleep, and didn’t seem to have moved at all in the intervening hours, so the retired healer went about his daily activities as usual. In the end, it was the smell of cooking supper that woke the young sprite from his deep slumber. This brisk, bright autumn weather (and the head cold that he was annoyingly certain he was brewing) had put Aleander in the mood for chicken soup, and naturally the smell of homemade soup simmering is all but irresistible to most creatures. The visitor, whose name Aleander finally learned to be Druhm, was looking better, but his face was still itchy and puffy and red, and his breathing had a wheeze to it. 

“You’d be wise to stay here another day tomorrow,” Aleander cautioned Druhm as they sat down to supper. “I’ll give you another good dose of medicine and keep an eye on you. Your body’s had a bit of a shock and it would thank you for taking it easy a while longer.”

“As you say. I’m certain you saved my life, so I’ll do whatever you think is best–”

“Hehhd’ITCHHH–?! IHHTTCHOOO!!”

“Gesundheit.”

“Thangk you. As I was saying, I especially want to keep an eye on your breathing. And I hope you noted whatever it was that you got into that caused this in the first place. You’ll have to stay far, far away from it from now on or end up in even worse shape.”

“Oh I know. I certainly will, don’t you worry. I never want to have another experience like that ever again–”

“Ihhh-KIHSHH! KIHHZOOOO!!”

“Again gesundheit! Heavens, I hope you’re well.”

“Fine, fine. Don’t worry about me,” Aleander said with a dismissive wave and a gurgling nose blow.  “Just eat your soup. It’ll do you good.”

The good meal heartened young Druhm, and Aleander found he was quite the chatterbox. Aleander wasn’t loquacious on his best day, but the other sprite filled silences easily, and was a captivating story teller, though he made certain to draw Aleander out as well, asking thoughtful and engaging questions. It was a change of pace for the solitary sprite, but not a completely unpleasant one, and Aleander did his best to keep his replies from being brusque, though before supper was over, he had had quite enough of talking for one day, burgeoning cold notwithstanding. He was forced to interrupt them several more times with increasingly wet sneezes, and Druhm blessed him courteously each time. 

“Dear Aleander, I really think you’re coming down with something,” Druhm said after the half-dozenth interruption of that nature.

“And so what if I am?” Aleander said, slightly peevishly. “I’m a garden sprite and you’re a forest sprite. You’re not likely to catch anything from me are you?”

“I’m not concerned about that. I was only thinking that I’m glad for more than one reason now that I’ll be staying through tomorrow. It seems you might need a bit of looking after with a head cold coming on.”

Aleander gave the other sprite a look. “I’ve told you I’m a former healer, yet you think I’ll need looking after for a sniffle? I’m perfectly able to take care of myself.”

 “I never said you couldn’t, and I’ll be taking your advice on all things medical, whether it’s for my care or yours. But I’ve found it’s nice to have company when one is ill, as well as another pair of hands so that some rest can be gotten here and there to shorten the duration, if you catch my meaning.”

Aleander rolled his eyes. “That will be quite unnecessary. I’ve looked after myself for years and have gotten on just fine. You’ll be staying tomorrow for your own sake and no other reason. I won’t have you fussing around me. After all, it’s only a cold.”

Aleander was singing a different tune the next day, though. He woke up with a miserable, splitting headache that made him feel as if he’d put a pickaxe through his skull and a cough that made his bones rattle. He could only just manage to get up and make Druhm another antihistamine tonic, as well as a healing tonic for himself, before his energy was exhausted. Druhm had had a bit of a setback in the night too, and was red-faced and itchier than ever, with a worrisome catch in his breathing. Aleander firmly warned him to stay put for at least another day of rest before shuffling away to his bedroom with a miserable shudder and a wet nose-blow. 

Druhm did rest that morning, but the tonic made him feel all but healed, and he was bored and restless in no time. Finding the sick garden sprite sleeping under a mound of blankets, Druhm decided to take matters into his own hands. He went out and did the rest of the morning chores that Aleander couldn’t manage and fixed brunch for the both of them for starters, oatmeal and fresh fruit with plenty of cream and maple syrup. He woke Aleander gently to serve him, and the older sprite mumbled and fussed quite a bit as he sat up, saying the coddling was unnecessary. He had a good appetite, though he complained he couldn’t taste anything, and ate everything before lying back down with a huff and a request to not be disturbed again. 

“As you say, but don’t hesitate to call for me if you need something. I’ll be nearby,” Druhm said eagerly. 

“As I keep saying, that’s unnecessary,” Aleander mumbled. “You just worry about yourself.”

Druhm wisely said nothing as he left the sprite and his headache in peace. 

The forest sprite wasn’t about to sit inside during another glorious autumn day, so he went out on an exploratory foraging journey of his own, staying within sight of the homestead clearing in case the sick sprite called for him. He found plenty enough to interest him and got some work done on the guide of local fungi he was working on. He also split more wood, since Aleander’s pile was a little thin, gave the barn a good cleaning, and weeded the garden beds that were still active. When twilight began to stretch across the sky, he made his way inside and began to prepare supper for the two of them. He didn’t plan to wake the retired healer, as requested, but he did use plenty of wild garlic and onion, hoping the smell and sound of it frying would take care of that for him. Sure enough, just as the food was ready to be served, Aleander emerged, cloaked in a blanket and sniffling, but looking hungry. Druhm swallowed a smile as he courteously asked if the other sprite had an appetite for some supper. 

“It seembs I do,” Aleander said. “I cand’t smbell mbuch, budt from whadt I can tell, thadt smbells mbighty fide. Ndow thadt the headache has eased ubp a bit and I can thingk straighdt, sumb food sounds wo’derful.”

“I’m glad the headache is better, but it sounds like your congestion is worse,” Druhm said conversationally as he served them both.

“Well spotted. Idt’s all shifted oudt of mby head and into mby ndose. Budt I supposed thadt’s a bedder place for idt to be in the end.”

And so the evening passed. Aleander insisted he was far from tired after sleeping all day, so Druhm helped him get settled in the sitting room beside the fireplace, in which the young sprite had gotten a roaring fire going earlier in the day. Aleander complained about the waste of firewood for such a large blaze, but was mollified after peeking through the window to see the huge stack Druhm had left for him. Much like the night before, the visitor kept up the flow of conversation, telling funny and interesting stories about his past foraging adventures and the eccentric authors he had worked with on previous field guides he had published. Aleander, with a handkerchief near at hand, nodded along and smiled at the right places, but his head was heavy and fuzzy with cold and he couldn’t add much in the way of dialogue. Druhm didn’t seem to mind, though, and overall the rest of the evening passed pleasantly. 

Inexplicably (in his mind) Aleander found himself exhausted again as the time approached when he would normally go to bed. He expressed his regrets to his guest, but said his bed was calling. Druhm easily agreed, and the pair began to prepare to go their separate ways, Aleander to the bedroom and Druhm to the chair by the fire. 

“You’ll be leavi’g early tomborrow, then?” Aleander asked gruffly. 

“We’ll have to see what the morning brings. I’m still not feeling quite like myself and may want to encroach upon your hospitality for another day or two yet.”

“Don’t be doi’g mbe any favors,” Aleander warned him. “As I’ve told you mbany times, I’mb fide on mby own. Don’t be hangi’g around here just for mby sake.”

“I wouldn’t be, never you fear. It seems this area boasts a healthy population of a particular mushroom that we’ve had trouble finding anywhere else. I wouldn’t mind taking some time just to get good documentation of the species and lessen my work this spring.”

Aleander gave him a suspicious look. “Well if that’s all, you’re welcome to stay as lo’g as you ndeed, within reason of course. You’ve mbore than earned your keebp, and I’ll be habby to have you as a guest in the interest of science. As lo’g as you’re ndot fussi’g aboudt this cold of mbine.”

“I would never. But I will say, I’m happy I was able to repay you in some small way for saving my life, which I don’t think is an exaggeration. I don’t know where I would be, or in what state of health, if I hadn’t stumbled across your doorstep.”

Aleander waved a hand dismissively. “Idt was ndo trouble. I mbay be retired, budt the healer’s oath isn’t so easily laid aside. And… since we’re bari’g our souls, I’mb thangkful you were here. I’d forgodden how mbiserable idt is to be sigck, and I was mbore glad for the company than I thought I would be. Thangk you for all you’ve done.”

“I was glad to do it. And tomorrow, if you’re still feeling poorly, I hope you’ll call on me if there’s anything you need. As I said, I don’t think I’ll be straying far for a bit.”

Aleander nodded. “If you’re sure. I will say, the eveni’gs are mbuch mbore comfortable when you’re here, with the conversation and all. There’s ndothi’g like andother bei’g to add some warmbth and light to a lonely dwelli’g.”

Returning to the Abyss… Without a doubt, that would be a difficult task. Even ignoring the fact that the Entity's complete form was far too large to properly traverse Hallownest's winding tunnels, how would they do so without harming their surroundings? They certainly couldn't remain here in the Junk Pit, but leaving would render their struggle to get their powers under control nearly pointless!

…Perhaps they could attempt to seep down into the Abyss through the floor..? Would that work?

As Ghost mused on what to do next, they witnessed the serpent shapeshift back into the form they were more familiar with. Well, that answered that question, at least.

Wait, what did she say? The stranger—no, the friend? Friend Noir? She… Claimed she could transport them?

Given how much she had already helped them, they were inclined to trust her.

And… Their new friend was Void, at least of some sort, too. Now that they could truly focus on her, Ghost could sense it through their Heart. A substance familiar yet foreign, interwoven with the core of her being. As she said, her Void was different from their own and that of Hallownest's. However, perhaps it was still possible for them to request actions from her, as they could with the Shades.

So, through their own core, Ghost reached out toward that Void they felt, attempting to establish a connection between it and themself. It was more difficult than usual to properly grasp those strands of empty darkness; the differing forms of Void appeared to struggle to fully mix. Still, though tenuous, a slight link finally seemed to form between the two, and thus Void Heart glowed once more as Ghost cast out their telepathic command:

While she already seemed to have some sort of idea of where they needed to go, they wanted to make their desired destination completely clear.

But, just in case their message failed to reach its intended recipient, Ghost nodded the great Entity's head in response to Friend Noir's question. For added emphasis, one of Its four arms pointed downward as well.

Progressing step be step, the lessons his sister had taught him are put to use to keep the repressive void at bay until they recede on their own. As they do so, Divo's own electric light is finally exhausted and the little whelp gives a small sigh. Slumping against a tunnel wall he takes a moment to catch his breath and think about how he's going to make his way down.

Well, until something is bunting it's head against him curiously, having followed the shadows of regret up from the depths out of pure curiosity.

Back in the junk pit, as the unified godling collects themselves and finally calms, the lindwurm loosens her coils. Eyes across her body close, leaving only the seven colored one on her face watching them. Seems consuming that excess emotional overload was the right move after all. "...There you go, Little Ones..." Clearly, her attention turns to the entity's core; Ghost themselves. "Lot better now without all that panic, hm? You're doing amazing with this, so far."

Noir gives a small purr, before shifting back to a smaller form to allow the Void Given Focus more room and staying floating in place. "Name's Noir; guess you could say you and I are similar kinds of gods. Even if my brand of void is much more vast than that here in Hallownest."

"My brother and I heard your calls and figured we'd check things out. Seems good that we did." There's a small chuff, her own shadow-bound eyes finally locating that pit of regret that might very well produce a form of void itself. "You lot're from deeper down, right? You wanna head in that direction so you have more room? I can handle getting us there."

Verses

Universe L1: The default verse for all interactions on this blog is Touhou (and Gensokyo) unless a setting outside that area is stated by either writer. Takes place in the canon universe for any given media.

While the Hakurei Barrier exists in this verse as a means to generally enclose the region as intended, individual abilities and various advancements in technology and magic have opened pathways in and out of Gensokyo for most people if they know how to use them. This allows the Touhou muses on this blog the ability to be used in the settings of other fandoms in their own default/alternate verses.

Universe K4: To summarize it quickly, this is a multi-fandom AU where multiple worlds from varying series have been forcefully separated from their original locations and now orbit above and around a towering mountain that exists in another dimension. Worlds that have been included in this hub usually harbor gates of varying nature that lead back to their original locations or to another region in the hub. This dimension is accessible through an invisible gap that can be found around any given mountain.

Universe M3: The Honkai verse for this blog, also visible from @travelogue-of-march-7th as a more dedicated blog. It crosses paths with every other universe listed anywhere on this blog. More details under development.

A studious and excitable Dhampir, Hanako is a ray of sunshine amongst a dreary sky. The proud caretaker of her family's petshop and incredibly dedicated lover of both animals and people, Hanako is a vivacious and proud sort. Hanako is unaware of her current condition as a Dhampir and will often consider her cravings to be simple anemia, even if that consideration is a bit.. Odd.

Just recently found out they don't teach the newest batches in the smeetery the poem anymore. I found that odd and a little sad so I took it upon myself to teach them. "

Skweezee ruled second. His drones drew new star maps to pinpoint new targets.

Klammi ruled third. He commissioned better weapons for a mightier military..."

After Klammi ruled Krud. His forces conquered the solar system where Producia now thrives."

Skampi "Ok, my coddle drone. *nervous cough* Ummm....? Then ruled Woopz. Their forces took planet Devastis where the emergency smeeyery was built.

"After Woopz ruled Greezee who conquered 8 planets to build Foodcourtia.

Then after him ruled Wiiz who tripled the empire's service force and the value of a monies.

Next to rule stood *Morgg, who waltzed with the dead. He commissioned the construction of the empire's 3rd, 4th and 5th death factory moons.

After Morgg, Spittle was measured. With the flex of his biceps he could intimidate enemies into surrender.

When Spittle fell Blinx stood. He guided the empire trough the plague war to a cure then to retaliation.

Pep--perpep---pepper-on-cini then ruled for 6 centuries. He secured six powerful alien allies.

Lich stood tallest after. He launched the empire's first successful wave of stealth covert invasions and secured Irk's victory in the Irken/Planet Jacker war.

Miyuki ruled next. She launched the Massive, the Armada’s greatest flagship.

Spork ruled after but for less than a day.

Then for the first time two drones stood of equal stature. Red and Purple ruled as one. They launched a new wave of invasions.

Red fell too soon. Now only rules Purple. His drones anticipate a prosperous reign.

Then after Purple I'll be the bestest most tallest tallest of them all!"

[Something cute. I don't even know of the 26 and 1/2 tallest fact is even 100% canon. That's just what I go by and I only have so many modern tallest head canons or ocs.

The beauty of Irken lore is there is so much room for speculation. *Tallest Morgg is actually the oc of @tendervulture but his backstory is so engraved his memory, I still include him in my modern list.

My old Irk/ pre control brain take over tallest list is longer and that list includes several ocs by @a-wanderin-whirlybird and @monsoonceroom .

Wish I had the skill to write up a fully developed poem listing all supposed 26 and 1/2 modern tallests but I don't think it's in me. Lol."

Crenic Namalen

Former wandering healer, Crenic refuses to take payment for his services beyond lodgings and a meal. Taking up the trade after spending 15 years as a Garlean prisoner, and deciding that someone had to help counter so much pain in the world. Kind, gentle, welcoming, the Viera still cannot forgive the empire for what they did to him, and is just as well versed with a gunblade when the need to protect others calls.

Rune Nightfall

A specialist in Voidsent, the young black mage boasts of unusually large inner reserves of Aether for his spells. While often called to help deal with voidkin problems, most keep any relationship with him strictly business, with the Keeper known for a tendency to talk to himself, alcoholism, and sarcasm. Mostly, Rune just wants to be left alone and get rid of the voidsent that secretly haunts him.

Rumare Sjadar

The Wraith of Skatay has been called "More sprite than man", and while a few have interacted with the herald of winter himself, he is know to stay isolated unless a matter requires his attention. There are only two people who can say they know him as anything more than the will of the mountains. Three, if one includes the kit that seems to be under his care.

Azha Eridani

Scout of the tribe and with a knowledge of their land rivaled only, perhaps, by their Nuhn, Azha knows his way from the labyrinthine caverns in the hills to the gryphon's nests, from oasis to orchards. While some would want to see the Nuhn dead, Azha is his greatest supporter and will always have his back. Even if the man himself wants to scruff the Keeper for his antics sometimes.

Cain Starlight

Recently arrived in Eorzea from Kugane, the alchemist is a friendly, warm, and open figure, selling anything from medicine to dyes and inks. And more. Certainly nothing illegal. Born blind, he requires medicine regularly to be able to see. And while he's open about missing his city and his mother, any suggestions of visiting are nervously waved off and the topic changed.

I saw this post and absolutely loved the fit and the pose!! I imagined it as Sal and Serena's first date after she recovers her vision, so they tried to look their best! (Plus she cut her hair just to impress him, keke) / Vi éste post y amé la ropa y la pose!! Also, a little sneak peek to their sprites! I decided I would be making one for Sal too, just to mess around/ dress him with different things/ match the style and etc, it also helped me settle the way I draw men! / También, aquí hay un pequeño vistazo a sus sprites! Decidí que haría uno para sal también sólo para jugar con él/ vestirlo con diferentes cosas/ igualar el estilo y etc, también me ayudó a establecer la forma en la que dibujo hombres!

1. What inspired you to make/pick up this character?

Well Kitt was an OC that I created about ten years ago in the Wreck-It Ralph fandom. Most folks I knew and roleplayed with back then were either playing as canon/divergent versions of the characters or just made their own OCs for that fandom. Kitt was created as game sprite that was modeled from games like Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter. She still has some elements to those times, though her story .. as well as her appearance .. has changed up overtime as the fandom slowly disappeared. So now, she's just a more fleshed out OC that can fit into just about any verse or timeline.

12. What is your favourite thing about the mun?

Kitt VC: "Oh! .. My mun? ... Well she's a doll! .. An' absolute peach! .. Let's me get away with murder, she does ... (chortles) .. But honestly, I appreciate how she lets me jus' be myself an' trust's me enough to let me run my course the way I feel fit .. 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋. common etiquette applies: BE RESPECTFUL! that’s pretty much all i ask for. as mentioned above i’m LOW ACTIVITY and won’t be super present. i will always reply, sooner or later, but expect long times! i’m NON-MUTUAL FRIENDLY, but i do tend to be a little selective with who i roleplay with. remember that MUN AND MUSES ARE DIFFERENT PEOPLE, and what they think or do might not reflect what i would think or do.

o2. 𝐈𝐍𝐁𝐎𝐗 & 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒. the prompts lists i reblog NEVER EXPIRE, and you don’t have a cap on how many you can send me! SEND AS MANY AND AS OFTEN AS YOU WISH, regardless of how “old” the list is, with or without plotting! any questions are always welcome, both ic and ooc! just please make it clear if you’re talking to me or my muses, especially if you’re going for a heavy hitting question or statement.

o3. 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒. my turns usually get really long: i tend to write multi-para and novella, and often don’t use any icon and minimal formatting. DON’T WORRY ABOUT MATCHING MY LENGTH OR STYLE. write as much as you like, being it more or less than me, and use any graphic you wish, i have no problems at all! i only ask you to write at least enough for me to work with on my next turn, so a couple of lines at least, and to keep the formatting readable. IF I NEED TO MODIFY ANYTHING, LET ME KNOW! i have no problems in modifying or straight up rewriting a turn. i’m open to roleplay pretty much anything, from the light and fun ideas to extremely delicate and dark topics, but i’m not interested in smut, as it makes me extremely uncomfortable.

o4. 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆. i don’t require it for us to roleplay, but I ADORE IT! from pre-established relationships to entire plots to develop and roleplay together, if you have an idea, throw it at me! i’m open to have multiple plots with each character, and even with the same person: if there is something i love roleplaying for, is to see how differently things can evolve based on circumstances! basically, i just enjoy putting together ideas and writing, haha. so never fear of throwing ideas at me, i have never enough of them!

o5. 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄. while it is not a main focus for me, i easily get invested in ships and enjoy writing them! I GLADLY EXPLORE ALMOST ANY KIND OF SHIPS, unrequited and one night stands included. for toxic relationships i INSIST we plot it beforehand, and set our boundaries before writing absolutely anything about it. i ship characters that have some alchemy and am a big fan of slow-burns, unfortunately for me, so those are the ones that i’ll prefer. I’M NOT INTERESTED IN THE CHEATER TROPE, SO ANY NEW SHIP WILL BE IN ITS OWN TIMELINE. i do roleplay some suggestive but am highly selective with who i write it with. SMUT MAKES ME EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE, so i avoid it entirely.

Overview:

Aleph is an archangel, who are born from the ideas, dreams, and desires of mankind. As an archangel, Aleph represents the concept of conquest. As such, he has conquered countless realities in the multiverse.

Background:

Long ago, Aleph leads a troupe of archangels alongside his lover, Morgante. Together they subjected countless realities to their dance of conflict. And through this dance, a new archangel was born. From Conquest and Rebellion, Strife was born. Aleph and Morgante named him Mordread and raised him as their son.

For a long time, they enacted the cycle of conflict on unsuspecting worlds. Unfortunately, Mordread stood against his father and Aleph slayed him for it. This fractured Aleph’s troupe of archangels and lead to Morgante’s betrayal.

Morgante trapped her former lover in a backwater reality known as New Wirral. There he spent an untold amount of time searching for a way out.

On New Wirral, Aleph gathered a new team of archangels also trapped within New Wirral to help him escape. This led to Aleph confronted by seven heroes who finally defeated him. Yet, to kill an archangel is to kill the very idea that birthed them. So, for as long as there are humans to kill each other, Aleph will return in one form or another.

VERSES:

Main Verse: Post Cassette Beasts. Aleph has been reborn after his defeat at the hands of the heroes of the game. Note: In canon it would be unlikely that the being who is reborn from Aleph’s core concept would not be Aleph, but this is more fun.

King Arthur Verse: Pre-Cassette Beasts. Aleph is still at the height of his power and his troupe of archangels has yet to disband. Note: I will be more selective with this verse.

Human Verse: Aleph has been reborn as a human and is desperate to return to his former glory as an archangel. Note: Face claim pending.
