With your fizzy drinks and vinyls in tow, you’re determined to make the most of your summer before the start of your first year at university. Everything’s seemingly perfect; humid afternoons with your closest friends, late-night mixers at your local alumnis' estates, and sleeping in to ungodly hours. What you didn’t predict, however, was your brother making the early trip home to surprise you with a certain someone — namely, his best friend since childhood — following closely behind. His unexpected appearance throws you off, and suddenly, your summer is filled to the brim with his presence. You’re finally able to taste the idea of mature love, but is it really all that it’s made out to be?

Arcadia Oaks High School Drama Department Presents: A Christmas Carol
I have no explanation for this other than it came to me in a vision and I knew it to be true. Arcadia Oaks high school puts on a play of A Christmas Carol. Who would be playing what roles and why.
First off who plays the man, the myth, the legend, the star of the show himself Ebenezer Scrooge? That would be Steve Palchuk. This isn't just because of Steve's heel turn from bully to ally (although there is some fitting poetry there) but because he has the best acting chops to pull it off. He can bark out the harshest Bah Humbugs in one scene then be practically radiant with Christmas joy in another. Steve canonically auditioned so well for the role of Captain DJ Kleb he nearly usurped the roll from the actual DJ Kleb. He's a perfect fit for playing Ebenezer.
Next up is Jim as Bob Crachet. Jim I love you but a thespian you are not. Jim an play it cool in tight situations but creating big emotions for big roles isn't his strong suit. Playing Bob Crachet works well because any nervousness he has about playing the role can be worked into the character. Plus I imagine him and Steve have a lot of fun getting into their characters and playing off each other.
Aja plays Mrs. Crachet. Not only do she and Jim work really well together and have good chemistry on set, but Aja has a great time cursing "Scrooge" for his miserly ways as part of her role. Gently teasing her boyfriend about it. Although Mrs. Janeth has lecture the two of them how Mrs. Crachet and Ebenezer Scrooge shouldn't make out in costume where audience members might spot them.
Scrooge's nephew Fred is played by Krel. He grumbled about the jokes of how his sisters boyfriend is playing his uncle "So does this make me your brother in law or your uncle in law?" "Watch it oaf" but he slowly warms to the role and throws himself playing Fred with the same enthusiasm he played DJ Kleb with.
Toby would play Marley. A small but critical role as a terrifying specter, perfect for Toby to sink his teeth into. He has a great time "scaring" Steve and haunting him for his sins.
The Ghost of Christmas Past would be played by Mary. The subdued personality of this ghost is a big change from Mary's usual bold, outgoing energy, but she enjoys the challenge and has fun playing a character who's personality is such a contrast to her own. And going over people's past misdeeds and evaluating their choices is right up the social media queen's alley.
Eli grumbles that he only got cast as younger Scrooge because he's the shortest in the grade. But he and Steve know each other so well that they're able to mimic each other's mannerisms. And with practice they're able to have their performances reflect each other perfectly.
Shannon plays the part of Belle, not a huge part but Shannon's busy dodging the embezzlement allegations, she doesn't have the time for a big role.
Seamus as Mr. Fezziwig. Nothing to say here except for that I was running out of characters.
I can see Darci playing Mrs. Fezziwig. She's shown before that she only likes performing in front of a crowd while wearing a mole costume mask. So she's happiest playing a minor role with only a few lines that mostly involves dancing.
On loan from Arcadia Oaks academy is Douxie playing the ghost of Christmas Present. Douxie is a theater kid through and through and brings big "Live in the moment" energy to his character, but also with a touch of seriousness. The knowledge that present actions affect the future. Which brings us to the next ghost.
They say that there's no small parts, only small actors. And while the role of ghost of Christmas Yet to Come might be a small, non speaking role, but Claire absolutely kills it. No lines but a strong, commanding presence that hits home just what a bleak Christmas yet to come looms ahead without uttering a single word.
(But again, no making out with Mr. Cratchet where audience members can spy them)
And of course who would play tiny Tim other than everyone's favorite changeling, Notenrique.
"God bless us, everyone,"
"Notenrique I don't care if you're the star, if you don't stop eating the fake snow I'm punting you into the trashcan!"
With all that said, happy holidays and let the show begin!

Untitled Chaos Review
Tumblr media
This episode was phenomenal. The balance of chaos and sentimental moments continues to impress me. This episode is essentially the calm before the storm, but also a character revelation episode about the crew before something shifts in the next few episodes.
From a lot of other fans theories, I’m starting to agree with the idea that Caine is an outdated version of the program that’s running the circus. Because the crew hasn’t been enjoying his deadly adventures, he’s starting to feel as if he’s bad at his job (he almost had a whole crashout with Zooble, but Zooble isn’t easily impressed by most things to begin with). Especially since he glitched tf out during their therapy session and he glitched again at the end of episode 4 with Gangle’s performance evaluation.
From a crazy wildlife poaching with Jax, to President Pomni blowing up the white house (I wish that was our IRL situation /jbnj), Gangle’s slice of life anime schoolgirl fantasy, a random intermission that went so hard, a stargazing picnic outside the tent, and Zooble’s bartender life-dumping the crew’s previous struggles when they were
Tumblr media
These two are so cute like omggggg
It’s confirmed by Gooseworx in an old Tumblr post, that all of the characters ages and careers prior to the circus;
Ragatha is 30, used to be a real estate agent and has a wealthy family with a horse ranch, doesn’t get along with her toxic mom who berates her, leading her to being the way she is.
Zooble is 22 and used to be a bartender and a tattoo artist at one point. It's cute how they have bonded with Gangle over creative activities.
Gangle is 26, she attended a community college to study graphic design, but sadly dropped out probably due to pressure of outside influences and people telling her she’d never make it as an artist, so she found a job at a fast food chain and worked up the ranks as a supervisor before getting sucked into the Circus.
Pomni is 25 and worked as an accountant for a supermarket chain, she used to enjoy exploring random abandoned places and filming it on YouTube.
Jax is 22 and hates corn (rumored that Ribbit was his one friend who abstracted from the Circus), and Kinger is 48.
For the most part, the episode was really fun to watch their dynamics as they played softball with the evil versions of themselves (despite Gangle who was replaced by Evil Orbsman). Jax became submissive and pretty in a maid outfit which made him look so babygirl coded. And there’s a mannequin character spying on them… All in all a hilariously great episode.
WHEN IS EPISODE 6 I’M DYING TO KNOW 😭😭😭

China Film Critics Society weibo account posted a short article/ evaluation of Wang Yibo. you all might be mad at the second paragraph but it is what it is. it will not all be praises for Yibo. It is very obvious that a lot of critics haven’t watched his dramas and have some prejudice.
Tumblr media
China Film and Television Performance Review Summit Forum evaluated actor Wang Yibo
Zhang Hui, dean of the Performance School of Beijing Film Academy, proposed that in 2023, Wang Yibo starred in many movies, including major movies He was nominated for the Golden Rooster Award for Best Supporting Actor for "Hidden Blade" by director Cheng Er, "Born to Fly" directed by Liu Xiaoshi and "One and Only" directed by Dapeng. This is undoubtedly Wang Yibo's recognition as a cross-border actor from outside the industry. Excellent achievements, praise and affirmation given. These films have allowed us to see Wang Yibo's potential and plasticity, as well as his progress and growth as a cross-border actor through continuous practice and tempering. They also allow us to place more expectations and hopes on actors who are not from a professional background.
Before starring in "One and Only" and "Hidden Blade", Wang Yibo had always "relied on his face". The roles he played were all cold and handsome princes or knights in costume dramas. He appeared on the stage with a "handsome" face that was almost facially paralyzed. There is no true emotion revealed in the characters he plays, and no three-dimensional shaping of the characters. It can be said that those scenes cannot even be called "performances." However, "Chen Shuo" who is passionate about his dreams in "One and Only" and "Mr. Ye", the inner-struggle triple agent in "Hidden Blade", let us see that Wang Yibo has begun to be serious about performance creation. He has the courage to challenge himself and take a brave step towards the profession of actor.
In "One and Only", Wang Yibo changed his introverted personality and cold expression, starting from the character's emotions to portray this young dancer who sincerely pursues his dreams. He interprets an ordinary, sincere, simple, persistent and determined young man chasing dreams in a real, natural, vivid and vivid way. Chen Shuo, who he plays, has a burning passion for dreams and the purest love for dance in his eyes in every scene. It is precisely because Wang Yibo accurately grasps the emotions of the characters that he creates "Chen Shuo" with accurate, vivid and sincere emotions, which deeply touches the hearts of every audience.
Wang Yibo plays the role of "Mr. Ye", a spy with three identities in "Hidden Blade". It is a big challenge for him, whether it is to break through his own image or to create the complexity and versatility of the character. He once mentioned that before filming started, in order to understand the characters and find the appropriate performance state, he watched classic films such as "The Godfather", "Pulp Fiction" and "Inglourious Basterds", and conducted special training on lines and action scenes. Although Wang Yibo's acting skills in the film are a bit immature compared to other movie queens and movie kings, through his control of details and emotional expression, he captured the audience's emotions on multiple levels, highlighting the tension of the work.

4, 6, and/or 12 for Dex/Hermosa? For 12 I'm specifically thinking before Hermosa got his injury, as it's kind of too obvious after.
4. are they opposites? parallels? reflections? something else?
6. why are they drawn to each other? what fuels the attraction? why is it this person, as opposed to anyone else?
...these are so relevant to the current storyline, wow. Somebody come back to this post in a couple weeks, and remind me to reblog with no-longer-spoilery commentary.
12. who is the mask and who is the voice? who is the weapon and who is the wielder? who watches and who performs? who shines and who reflects?
Normally Dex is the mask and Hermosa is the voice, although when Hermosa was working in Northwind he did a lot of being-the-mask.
Dex is the weapon, Hermosa is the wielder.
Both of them watch (they were both talented spies, it's second nature by now), Dex performs and enjoys it, Hermosa performs as necessary.
"Not shining" is also second nature (hard to be a spy if you draw a lot of attention). Dex reflects in the sense of amplifying and spotlighting Hermosa's good qualities. Hermosa reflects in the sense of getting Dex to look at what they're doing, and maybe re-evaluate.

bulleted headcannons of fh dance studio 🫴
oh my GOSH okay yes!!
aguefort owns the studio. nobody knows how bc he does one (1) type of dance and it's fucking BALLROOM. he somehow keeps the studio running though so nobody stops him
ayda works the main office mostly. she danced at a studio that did the yearly nutcracker and then got tired of it and wanted to learn some other versions.
(she does a lot of contemporary now, especially to hip-hop music. it's cool as hell.)
kristen does modern and takes ballet. she tries so hard and she is so strong but she is. absolute shit at anything harder than a piqué. she likes modern bc cass lets her work in her ribbon dancer. she's also Really Good with choreo and technique!! she can spot the issue in Seconds
she helps out around the studio a lot too!! definitely not to see more of the girl with the pretty side cut who dances in the later hours :)
gorgug does hip hop bc he loves the community aspect of it! and ballet- he does a lot of the background/supporting work.
he's never had a solo. all the bad kids want him to ask for one because he's really fucking good how dare he. he tells them that aguefort doesn't like him.
(arthur doesn't like him. ayda would fight the world for him.)
fig is a jazz+tap girlie but she was Raised on ballet+tap so she's signed up for ballet too! she's been doing tap since she was So Little and it's genuinely just. her favorite thing ever.
she crashes the hip hop classes often. nobody stops her because she has the Energy Ever.
adaine, like fig, was put into ballet as a kid (along with aelwyn)
she met riz and he dragged her to a hip hop class and she simply. has not gone back. added contemporary onto her repertoire and a technique class and pointe. definitely the busiest out of everyone.
riz tried it for like. school. and fucking loved it. he thought it would be good networking, good resume filling, good exercise- and also he loved it. that comes last in the list of importance tho
that guy choreographs and performs the most complex ballet pieces known to man. kristen has tried one during an after-recital party and that video is used as blackmail to this day
he does ballet and jazz. he's tried every class at the studio and settled into those two. he's perfectly fine in his comfort zone thank you!
fabian started as a solely Jazz dancer. his dad died and he underwent a whole buncha self evaluation and then signed up for so many classes- he's taking no joke like 10.
jazz. ballet. tap. technique. modern. contemporary. hip hop. pointe. he's doing it all and having the Time Of His Life.
and now we get into the actual *studio*! whoaa it only took 17 bullet points!
their studio doesn't do a show performance, like the nutcracker, or competitions, but they do work a lot on choreography and do multiple performances throughout the year
you can request to do a solo/double/group piece that's multi-track! ayda Somehow fits it in the schedule. you get a teacher advisor (for the bad kids maybe jawbone?) who gives advice but the dance is mostly choreographed by you
these dances are the highlights of the recitals. fig wants to do one but is already doing a solo so she wants to work on a group piece! she and adaine have traumabonded in multiple classes so she asks her first
adaine goes. you're not gonna believe what i'm about to do. and snags riz. fig grabs gorgug. they're the initial four.
they spy fabian after a late-night rehearsal having a mental breakdown through dance and go huh. he was already becoming less stuck up. let's speed up the process.
kristen swings by later, sweeping and restocking toilet paper and shit and offhandedly offers some solutions to things they're struggling with
and lo and behold the bad kids are created! they have No Concept of time ever. but they're gonna choreograph a dance and by god it's going to look good!!

NCIS: Hawai’i co-showrunners Jan Nash and Christopher Silber are ready to talk about the island drama’s unfortunate fate.
It was on April 26 that TVLine reported that NCIS: Hawai’i, despite growing its audience in Season 3, would not be back for a fourth season. Very soon afterwards, the series’ cast members one by one weighed in on the cancellation, while Nash and Silber chose radio silence — “obviously surprised” as they were by CBS‘ decision.
After all, NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 had averaged 7.8 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating (with Live+7 playback data), up 4% in viewers vs. Season 2 (but down a tick in the demo). Out of the 14 drama series that CBS aired during the 2023-24 TV season, it ranked No. 6 in total audience (behind Tracker, NCIS, FBI, Blue Bloods and The Equalizer) and eighth in the demo.
TVLine readers gave the unplanned series finale an average grade of “B.”
Explaining the cancellation decision back in May, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said that NCIS: Hawai’i, amongst other ended shows, was a casualty of a drama slate that was simply too robust.
“We had to make some really tough choices this year,” she said. “Everything came back [from the Hollywood strikes] really strong, but ultimately we have to look at the cohesiveness of the schedule flow. We have to evaluate the financials and the performance overall, and we make tough decisions.”
Sources tell TVLine that while there were “talks” about finding another home for the series, that didn’t pan out.”
Ending a three-month silence on the matter, NCIS: Hawai’i co-showrunners Nash and Silber agreed to an exclusive, joint email Q&A with TVLine, seen below.
TVLINE | On a scale of 1 to 10, how surprised were you back in April? And how are you feeling about things now, three months later? NASH & SILBER | We were obviously surprised. If we’d known it was coming, we probably wouldn’t have ended the series on a cliffhanger. The fact that the studio and the network didn’t stop us makes it seem like they might not have seen it coming either. We loved our show and know other people loved it, too, but the TV business is a fickle mistress and one can’t take business decisions personally. But it still stings.
TVLINE | What are you most proud of having accomplished over the three seasons? NASH & SILBER | We did what we set out to do. We created a show with a strong female lead and a cast that reflected the diversity of Hawai’i and the world. We told interesting Navy crime stories. All while maintaining a workplace where people could hopefully do their best work and be valued for it. That gives us a lot to be proud of.
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Obviously, adding Sam Hanna was a crowd-pleaser — and your viewership in fact grew a few percentage points in Season 3. Was that crossover something you sought out amid NCIS: LA ending, or was it pitched to you by higher-ups? The idea of Sam joining our show was pitched by the studio/network after LA ended. We were fully on-board, both because Sam was a great character, but also because LL COOL J is a wonderful human. The chemistry he shared with our amazing lead, Vanessa Lachey, was so compelling, we had hoped to keep it going for many seasons to come.
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Turning to how the season finale ended, what can you say about the next words coming out of Maggie Shaw’s mouth? Did it have to do with Jane’s mom, teased earlier in the season? NASH & SILBER | While not fully fleshed out, we had a general idea of where the Maggie story was going. It would have eventually intersected with Jane Tennant’s mother, but it was also going to move back into the dark world of Tennant’s spy past, using those stories to increase our understanding of who Jane was, but also to learn more about her team in the process
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Was Lucy and Kate’s brief talk of weddings going to be revisited – perhaps pointedly — in Season 4? NASH & SILBER | We hadn’t fully landed on what was going to happen in Season 4. But there would have been some movement. Whether it would have been a wedding, meeting families, or some other thing, we didn’t know.
TVLINE | In Season 4 might we have finally met Jesse’s wife and other kid? Or was the wife your “Vera from Cheers“? NASH & SILBER | We started every season planning to meet her and she would have shown up eventually. (Hope springs eternal.)
Tumblr media
TVLINE | Was there any other story or personal runner you couldn’t get to in the short Season 3 that was going to be a “must” during a full Season 4? For example, meeting some of Lucy’s family, keeping Peyton List around as Kai’s love interest, anything for Ernie or Carla or Joe or Boom-Boom… what have you. NASH & SILBER | We loved our repertoire of characters and we would have kept using them as much as we could. We were talking about Tennant’s mom and Ernie’s ex-wife, but other than following up on our cliffhanger, there were no “musts” on the list. Our goals every season were the same: tells good stories with these great actors.
TVLINE | Was there any character you were excited to add in Season 4? NASH & SILBER | See above.
Tumblr media
Photo : CBS
TVLINE | Would it please you to see any of your characters resurface on any of the remaining or upcoming NCIS shows? NASH & SILBER | The NCIS universe is an amazing place and it would be wonderful if any of our characters continued in it.
TVLINE | The #SaveNCISHawaii campaign valiantly marches on, with such passion from that heartbroken ohana. What’s your message to them? NASH & SILBER | It’s pretty simple… thank you. We loved our show, and the fact that so many other people loved it too is gratifying. They were the greatest fans we’d ever experienced on a show. And we share their passion and heartbreak. We are grateful that we got to be a worldwide ohana for as long as we did.

i’m gonna start a comedy career. i’ll start in public “comedy night” type events in pubs and then once i’ve made a name for myself locally begin to branch out, get myself out there a bit. people start talking to their friends and family about this “ComedyHour” kid, “really funny guy” they’ll say. Next thing you know, i’m being invited to actual comedy clubs as a performer: sure maybe not as the headliner mind you, not yet anyway, but nevertheless i’m still the guy people go home talking about. “hilarious” they’ll say, “they were a riot!” soon i’m always the headliner, and even sooner i’m invited to the BIG comedy club’s. At this point i’m meeting and mingling with the big names. I talk loud and laugh louder, people remember my face and when they see me they think “oh my god it’s this guy! i love this guy!” I’m now one of the big names. i begin getting asked onto shows, you know the ones: 8 out of ten cats, taskmaster; you know, THOSE types of shows. i’m everyone’s favourite guest, the most viewed episodes are one’s with me on. Finally I’ve reached the top, i’m invited onto a late night talk show, probably one of the best places for a single person to get all the limelight to talk about anything they want. Jimmy Fallon, Graham Norton, anyone really would do. at this point, i’m so universally liked that this is the most viewed episode of these shows… Ever. record breaking numbers for my show of choice. i’m the headline for that nights show, the idea of having me just come on and say… anything! it’s enough to draw people from all over the world. it’s show night. i’m behind stage as the host calls my name. take a deep breath as i walk on. the crowd cheers as they see me, men and women crying tears of joy. i sit down and the audience calms down. the host lets me begin the discussion…and i just begin to rant like a complete lunatic.
“the moon is made of rhubarb and custard”
“the government spy on us through our toothbrushes”
“The name ‘American Football makes complete sense despite minimal Foot on Ball action!”
I’d say anything to show I’d lost it!
At first people laugh as they think it’s another of my wacky japes… but as the dust settles and the millions of people watching begin to realise i seem genuinely believe these things they begin to become upset, panic even! “Oh no! what’s wrong with them!” the host will try and keep order but i’ll start angrily cussing him out. security will be called on me. as they drag me out i’ll begin speaking gibberish,as if possessed. i’ll be mentally evaluated - they’ll say i’ve gone insane. i’ll be institutionalised. meanwhile there’ll be riots on the outside, so much violence and blood, children weeping, families pulling each other apart! i was meant to be the best of us, the person who everyone could rely on to make the day a little brighter; without me, everything just seems so bleak. as the years go by i wont say a word, wont show any signs of improving. the world will begin to forget about me, about the power i had over people. 30 years since the incident, i overhear a conversation outside my padded cell. “Who’s this?” says an unfamiliar voice.
The world has forgotten about me. I smile. This was my plan all along. To have the world hang on my every word, then cause people to tear each other apart, and disappear without a trace. Because the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he never existed.

Understanding the S and P 500 TSX: A Comparative Insight into North American Market Benchmarks
When analyzing North American equity markets, investors often compare the S and P 500 TSX to gain insight into performance trends across the United States and Canada. While the term "S and P 500 TSX" may seem like a combination of two indices, it actually refers to a comparative look at two key market benchmarks: the S&P 500 in the U.S. and the S&P/TSX Composite Index in Canada. These two indices are closely watched by investors for guidance on economic health, sector performance, and market sentiment.
What is the S&P 500?
The S&P 500 is a stock market index that tracks 500 of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States. It is a market-capitalization-weighted index, meaning larger companies have a greater influence on its performance. Representing over 80% of the U.S. equity market capitalization, it serves as a barometer for the American economy and a key benchmark for U.S. equities.
What is the S&P/TSX Composite Index?
On the Canadian side, the S&P/TSX Composite Index is the benchmark index for the Toronto Stock Exchange. It includes about 230 companies and is also market-cap-weighted. It covers roughly 70% of market capitalization on the TSX and reflects the performance of Canada's largest and most liquid securities.
Sector Composition: A Key Difference
One of the most notable contrasts in the S and P 500 TSX comparison is sector composition. The S&P 500 is heavily weighted toward technology and consumer services, with tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon having outsized influence. In contrast, the S&P/TSX is dominated by financials, energy, and materials. Companies such as Royal Bank of Canada, Enbridge, and Canadian Natural Resources play a significant role in the TSX index.
This sector discrepancy has implications for investors. For instance, when the tech sector performs well, the S&P 500 tends to outperform. Conversely, if energy prices surge, the TSX may deliver superior returns due to its resource-heavy composition. Thus, comparing the S and P 500 TSX can help investors understand regional economic strengths and sector-driven market movements.
Currency Considerations
Another important factor in comparing the S and P 500 TSX is currency. The S&P 500 is priced in U.S. dollars, while the TSX is in Canadian dollars. Currency fluctuations can significantly impact investment returns, especially for cross-border investors. A strengthening U.S. dollar, for example, can enhance the returns of American investments for Canadian investors, while a weakening Canadian dollar can make the TSX more attractive to U.S. investors.
Performance History
Historically, the S&P 500 has outperformed the TSX over the long term, primarily due to its exposure to high-growth technology and healthcare sectors. However, during commodity booms, the TSX has delivered competitive and sometimes superior returns, especially when oil and metal prices are strong.
Investors evaluating the S and P 500 TSX should not only look at historical performance but also consider macroeconomic trends. For example, interest rate movements, fiscal policy, and global demand for commodities all play a role in shaping the relative performance of these indices.
Diversification Through Dual Exposure
For many North American investors, allocating assets between the S&P 500 and the TSX provides valuable diversification. Exposure to both indices can reduce risk, balance sector exposure, and increase opportunities for returns. This is particularly true for Canadian investors looking to offset the resource-heavy nature of the TSX with the tech-driven growth potential of the S&P 500.
Index Investing and ETFs
A popular way to gain exposure to the S and P 500 TSX comparison is through exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Many ETFs track these indices individually, such as SPY for the S&P 500 and XIU for the TSX. There are also balanced ETFs that combine U.S. and Canadian equity exposure, allowing investors to capture the best of both markets with a single investment.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, the S and P 500 TSX comparison offers a valuable lens for understanding the dynamics of the North American markets. Each index reflects the economic strengths of its respective country, with the S&P 500 showcasing innovation and global reach, and the TSX highlighting Canada’s rich resource base and strong banking system. For investors, balancing exposure between these two benchmarks can enhance portfolio performance and resilience over the long term.
By staying informed on the differences and similarities between the S&P 500 and the TSX, investors can make strategic decisions based on market cycles, sector performance, and global economic trends. The S and P 500 TSX approach serves as a cornerstone for a well-rounded investment strategy across North America.

Nominated for "Best Feature Film" at the Golden Rooster Award: "Hidden Blade": a hidden arrow that breaks the unspoken rules of box office for literary and artistic films
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A classic is a kind of work,
It continues to give rise to clouds of criticism of it,
And keep getting rid of it,
It never completes what it has to say.
Hidden Blade, whose global box office is still rising, is the box office ceiling for domestic literary and artistic films. The background of this performance is that serious films have encountered an era of shallow reading, the industry and the public have been torn apart, and box office has become an undercurrent sweeping everything. However, because literary films do not conform to the shallow entertainment psychology, their niche nature is predicted by bloodthirsty and crude evaluations, and they are ahead of schedule. They are killed by film placement rate.
The true mission of film︱Making culture visible
The turbulent clouds and red color in the broad field of vision are somewhat incompatible with the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year. Released on the first day of the Lunar New Year, it is a kind of performance art in itself... It is very cliché, and it is exactly the same as the self-deprecation of super commercial films. As a spy war literary film, "Hidden Blade" has achieved a breakthrough in innovative expression of Chinese films, and its heterogeneity is unique among domestic films.
The dramatic tension of too many movies relies entirely on scenes and special effects, which disappear once they leave the theater. "Hidden Blade" creates a huge psychological magnetic field, which is still exciting even if it is separated from the audio-visual environment. The tone threshold of "Hidden Blade" is not some kind of contempt for the audience, but the ultimate respect for the audience, history, and movies.
Literary films are a type of film relative to the concept of commercial films. They focus on artistic expression and cultural connotation, and try to pursue higher aesthetic values and cultural significance. Their production is also different from commercial films: commercial films pursue commercial interests or mass entertainment, and take the movie box office as the main goal, while literary films focus on the artistry and cultural connotation of the film.
Transgressing norms and offending common sense, art films are pioneers of film. They often fail but expand the boundaries of film. There are two literary classics in the history of world cinema, "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Westward Journey". They failed miserably at the box office when they were first released. However, they accumulated a large number of die-hard fans through the later dissemination of images. After years of accumulation, they became indelible classics.
The core of the value counterattack between the two works is still that gold will always shine. The former's exploration of human nature and social systems has created a milestone in modern cinema, while the latter's postmodern deconstructive stream of consciousness has won resonance in an era of subversion of tradition.
As a cultural carrier, movies are the most intuitive and transparent value expression of the thoughts of the times. Although most of the classics handed down from ancient times are not the true understanding of the thinkers' era, they have been accepted by the public after years of precipitation. As a result, classics continue to increase in value over the course of history. This is the power of classics and the reason why we respect classics.
As early as in "The Death of Romance", Cheng Er used lines to express his feelings, "Movies are made for the audience of the next century." Look, for artists who break through the context of their times, the feedback they receive from the times is often lagging or misaligned, although this misalignment itself is precisely the connotation of the avant-garde. Yes, art films have always been a disadvantaged group in the industry that suffers at the box office.
In contrast to the tragic box office situation, the ambition and strength of literary films in film art awards. This is also the reason why "Hidden Blade" recently swept the 36th Golden Rooster Awards, with 8 major nominations and caused controversy among public opinion.
The existence of "Hidden Blade" is indeed an isolated example of a domestic literary film. With a box office of 931 million, it is not only the highest-grossing film in director Cheng Er's career, it is even several times the total box office of all his previous works! It's so stunning that "Hidden Blade" has always been criticized by the public, expelled from the art film camp by default in the name of "removing the highest score"!
"No one knows your name, but your achievements are immortal." The grand proposition of the unknown hero in "Hidden Blade" is more sentimental about family and country than any of Cheng Er's previous works. And does this main theme of "greatness, light, and justice" fit in with the art film's original understanding of "the world, society, and life" for individuals and the authorial expression of film language?
"Hidden Blade" is not the first of its kind to draw on commercial marketing for a literary film. At that time, "Fireworks in the Day" was announced as a romantic suspense film, and it received similar reviews and received double box office revenue. It can be seen that only true literature and art dare to joke about "super commercial films".
Cheng Er responded to this joke in an interview with "China News Weekly", "I was editing the film that day, and then they came in with their mobile phones to show me, and said that everyone still thought it was too literary, and I said let's just type a line. Come out - a super commercial film. This is a joke, and indeed no one put such a slogan in the trailer."
He said that he just found it interesting and that there was nothing to rebel about and it was not worth rebelling against. Confidence and relaxation are often qualities of an artist. These qualities make people stand out like fireflies in the dark, allowing the public to quickly pick them up from the crowd. And Cheng Er slowly titled a serious film "super commercial film" because of his humor.
Movies are not just an art of light and shadow | they are also an art that can cultivate people
Low box office is not the standard for art films. “When art is dressed in shabby clothes, it is easiest for people to recognize it as art.” However, this is not an essential representation of art, but the quality of the audience that needs to be improved. The complaints faced by "Hidden Blade" are the same as those faced by literary films as a whole, which is the contradiction between the film's authorial expression and public acceptance.
But does literature and art have to be a niche? Does it deserve to be obscure and slow-paced? Come to think of it, no one is more qualified to answer than "Hidden Blade", who has boiled the black water into a world of wealth and led the public's aesthetic appreciation with niche art!
The most representative narrative style of Cheng Er's films is "flashback narrative", which established his unique creative and imaging style. It invites the audience to participate, rely on brain supplements to build together, and gain the pleasure of decoding. It is a true "understanding", and it is easy to be confused if you don't understand. Such films pursue aesthetics and reflection, and are usually aimed at more mature and artistic audiences.
Movies are products of the cultural industry and are essentially consumed cultural products. In the context of the influx of capital and hot money into the film market and the industrialized mass production of film culture, commercial films are certainly high-return cultural snacks tailored for audiences. Even the creators of literary and artistic films are hard-pressed to avoid being judged by box office success . "The concept of influence or even kidnapping.
It is common for literary films to sell less than 5 million yuan. From Chen Zheyi softly asking the sky, "Why are elegant and gentle people scolded?" to Huang Xufeng angrily choking netizens, "I have no merit but hard work." There is no antidote in the world. The reason why literary and artistic films are criticized is often because in the fast-food era of shallow reading, literary and artistic films have to embrace the sinking market and attract non-target audiences in order to pursue box office.
But movies are just products? No, it is still a cultural expression and a carrier of social values. Comparing movies to products, then literary and artistic films are obviously not fast-moving consumer goods. When facing capital and the market, how can they be in line with the public while not losing their authorial nature? Cheng Er said, "Good-looking art films are also good commodities, and excellent commercial films are also a kind of art."
When it comes to art, most people may think that art is highbrow, aloof, and far away from daily life. And this is not the case. Yu Hua said in the roadshow of "The Mistake by the River", what does it mean to understand? In fact, it is whether it can overlap with our own life experience. If there is overlap, you can understand it. If there is no overlap, you can't understand it. That's normal.
In this explanation, understanding or not understanding is not profound. And Cheng Er has always said that the audience should not be underestimated. People who watch movies are influenced by their own likes and dislikes. Whatever they feel is what they have. Whether they understand or not is not that important.
The audience should not be too demanding to understand, and the artist should also be down-to-earth. Art for the sake of art is not true art. "Hidden Blade" is not only a literary film, but also a literary footnote to Chinese films, because it truly expresses the cruelty of history but is still full of artistic beauty. Cheng Er is very familiar with the history of the Republic of China and knows the intricate relationships between characters.
"Hidden Blade" is composed of real historical details as fine as twists and turns. When I say I can’t understand it, I’m not expressing disdain, but living in China, it’s difficult to understand the history of 5,000 years of civilization, but there is absolutely no threshold for mastering the history of the Anti-Japanese War! It is understandable that one cannot appreciate the narrative technique due to aesthetic differences, but the Internet atrocities of selling one’s soul for five cents and tainting the theme of the film are unforgivable.
There is no universal set of aesthetic rules in the world, but artists try to legislate aesthetics. Every era has its own branded dogma, until the next generation of artists establishes their own profession. Therefore, Gombrich exorcized art and said, "There is no art, only artists." He hoped that the world would stop enshrining art in shrines and use mystery and sacredness to Feeling separates oneself from the work.
There is also a similar "death of the author theory" in the literary field, which means that the author is as if dead when the work is born, and the interpretation and evaluation of the work are left to the readers. That is, there are a thousand Hamlets for a thousand readers, and there is no standard answer.
Just like we cannot require every movie to go straight to the international film festival awards, but also to hit the hearts of the audience and be a classic that will be passed down forever. We cannot require every movie viewer to have high film literacy from the beginning, and to be able to get the spiritual resonance of the creative intention. The growth of movies, filmmakers, and movie audiences requires more tolerant soil and space.
Of course, there is really little space left for literary and artistic films in theaters now! No matter at home or abroad, when the public unanimously agrees that "artistic films deserve low box office", please understand that the industry should leave some room for exploration for artistic films. Allow them to be ignorant of the customs, and only on the soil of tolerance can viable artistic flowers bloom.
Social aesthetic value orientation︱The purpose and driving force of movies
"A lame dog walks through the bombed street scene." One day, Cheng Er took a pen filled with ink and wrote this sentence on the paper. At that time, no one, including himself, knew it, but it was becoming the starting point for a movie called "Hidden Blade," and this moment of brutal aesthetics became the famous scene of the movie.
Personal aesthetics are free, but social aesthetics has a paradigm. Education and social culture will influence and standardize aesthetics and shape aesthetic orientation. Different eras and different environments have different aesthetic orientations, and different aesthetic orientations make people make different value choices. That is to say, no matter how free the aesthetics and how diverse the values are, as long as the rice is sown, it will never grow into tares.
Art and commerce are the two legs of movies. Art movies are full of vitality, and commercial movies are lively. When the leg of literature and art is lame, it is not unfair that Chinese films have been reduced from regulars on the awards podium at international film festivals to regulars on the red carpet.
Yes, there is indeed a "silver-like pewter tip" in the name of art. When artistic conscience is marginalized by desire, the so-called art becomes only a barren and pale flower shelf that cannot withstand scrutiny and argumentation. But "Hidden Blade" allows us to see how an exquisite literary film is polished and shaped, and even simple film layouts contain shooting skills.
Generally, it is the director's habit to record the scene first, then the actors perform, and the cameraman follows the camera movement, but this is not the case on Cheng Er's set. Wang Yibo once mentioned that the crew respects the actors very much. The filming scene is very quiet. Once the mood enters the state, the photographer shoots directly. After the scene is finished, the filming will be finished. The filming will never interrupt the actors' brewing emotions.
In the later stage, Cheng Er slept directly in the studio and only did one thing every day, cut, cut, cut! Thanks to his almost fanatical work status, Cheng Er didn't even get exposed to the sun last year! It took seven years to sharpen a sword, just for a different Chinese movie. Incorporate the main melody into genre movies, and use the language and audio-visual rhythm of genre movies to achieve innovative expression of the main melody theme.
"A truly good movie must be more commercial than commercial and more artistic than art. For me, what I have always wanted to do is to be more commercial than commercial and more artistic than artistic." Cheng Er said this and did the same.
Cheng Er's images are full of subtle metaphors. Puppet Manchukuo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, the spiritual narrative about the city in "Hidden Blade" permeates the architectural language of Rongzhai, No. 76, No. 567 Xiafei Road, Central Market, and Man Mo Temple; it is hidden in Japanese, Shanghai dialect, The mixture of pidgin and Cantonese arouses emotional resonance and deep thinking in the audience.
The Puppet Manchukuo, which only exists in the dialogue between Watanabe and Mr. Ye, is like a ghost with the chill of a daydream; the isolated island in Shanghai, which occupies the main part of the film, exudes luxury and inconsistency in its exquisiteness; and Hong Kong, as the hub of the international anti-Japanese united front, is full of human fireworks, revealing a simple and soothing world.
Dark clouds are pressing down, devastation is everywhere, and at the end of the tunnel, the historical information in the image of the current situation is compressed into a minimalist narrative, waiting to be decompressed. Until the dark wormhole of the theater, the historical words in the spy war narrative rushed towards us...
The anti-Japanese drama consumes misery, the anti-war themes are reproduced in large numbers, and the massacres cause psychological discomfort... In the past, expressions of the history of national suffering often followed the rules of exposing cruelty, exposing blood, and even exchanging violence for violence. What is shocking about "Hidden Blade" is that it uses beauty to overcome ugliness. It is amazing: It turns out that suffering can be interpreted calmly, with warmth and depth! "You can't get involved in the frame," is the domineering determination of the man behind the scenes.
Light and heavy, cold and warm, it completes the unfinished soul judgment on a country's sin of aggression in reality. In the sense of cultural export, "Hidden Blade" integrates the isolated history of China's anti-Japanese resistance into the world narrative of the great history of World War II.
It is a message from the times to the times. In the theater, "Hidden Blade" makes us feel the power of literature and art. After walking out of the theater, you will naturally understand what the merits of the unknown are!

Have you ever performed a competitor analysis for your company?
Tumblr media
The business landscape these days is as competitive as it gets and in such a scenario you must understand your competitors so that you can attain the levels of success you want as a business owner. A properly executed competitor analysis offers you valuable insights into the strategies, weaknesses, strengths, and market positioning of your competitors. By evaluating your business rivals, you gain the essential insights needed to make informed and strategic decisions, outpace the competition and distinguish your offerings in the marketplace.
What is competitor analysis?
The business landscape is always evolving and so it is no longer just crucial to understand your competitors. It has become the very key that can help you unlock the success of your business. Competitor analysis can be described as an art form that calls for dissecting the business plans being used by your competitors before making any decision regarding your business strategies. In this process, you evaluate their weaknesses and strengths and discover why they have been as successful as they have been. Here, you have to be meticulous in gathering data on their products and services, financial performance, and marketing tactics and analyze the same.
The end goal here is to gain invaluable insights into your competitors that can help you become a formidable competitor and have a distinct edge over them. This way, you will be able to take your business and brand to new heights as well.
In this context, you must also keep in mind that this is not a one-time project — it is a journey of discovery that will keep going on and on. By regularly monitoring your competitors, you can keep up with emerging industry trends and stay ahead of the curve. This also allows you to seize emerging opportunities and anticipate potential threats thus providing you with a profound understanding of the competitive landscape. This in turn helps you make the most informed decisions regarding your business, stay ahead of the curve, and differentiate your offerings.
A major benefit of competitor analysis is that it helps you gain a detailed understanding of the strengths of your competitors which lets you be inspired by their triumphs and thus incorporate their best practices in the business model that you follow. At the same time, this helps you uncover their weaknesses as well and this helps you exploit the areas where they are vulnerable. This way, you can establish a unique value and selling proposition that sets you apart no matter how competitive the market is. By understanding their strategies, you can take proactive steps to create countermeasures that not only diminish their influence but also support the sustainable growth of your business.
There is a lot more to competitor analysis than spying on your rivals — the process focuses on learning about them. Here, you get to adapt your strategy to the dynamic market, get used to facing competitive pressure, and improve your business practices at all times. The process is primarily about gaining the insights and knowledge that you need for purposes such as making informed decisions, staying ahead of your competition, and allocating resources effectively. All these are useful factors when you consider how competitive and rapidly evolving the overall business landscape has become in this day and age.
How can a competitor analysis be conducted?
The first step in conducting a competitor analysis — also referred to as target market research — is to identify who your business competitors are. You can do this by looking up businesses that offer similar products and services to you in the same market or category. You can also find out more about them by reading industry publications, talking to your customers, and attending trade shows.
Once you have identified who your competitors are you need to start gathering data about them. As part of this, you can gather information on their products, marketing techniques, services, and financial performance. You can also gather data on your competitors by visiting their websites, talking to their customers, and reading their marketing materials.
After you have gathered data on the pricing strategies being followed by your competitors you have to analyze the same. This way, you will be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the products and services being offered by your competitors. You can use tools like spreadsheets, graphs, and charts for such work.
Having finished the analysis you need to develop a complete marketing strategy that helps you differentiate your business from that of your competitors. You can do this by identifying your USP (unique selling proposition) and creating a marketing plan that highlights the strengths of your company.
In the final step, you have to keep an eye on the social media work being done by your competitor as well. This way, you will be able to stay updated with their latest products and services as well as the techniques that they are using to market them. For this, you can follow them on the various social media channels, accounts, and platforms where they are active. Taking part in trade shows and reading industry publications being brought out by them can be helpful in this regard as well. You can be sure that when you adhere to these steps for your competitor analysis it will help you gain substantial competitive advantage.
Competitor analysis offers you a whole host of advantages that can take your business to heights you may have never seen before. When you examine your competitors closely you get a deeper understanding of the market landscape in general and also identify the gaps in the market that you can eminently exploit. This knowledge provides you with the power to develop innovative services and products that cater to the needs of customers that no one else is meeting. In the context of a competitive business arena, this provides you with a distinct edge for sure!

An Overview of the S and P 500 Index
Tumblr media
The Standard & Poor 500 Index, or S&P 500, serves as a market-capitalization-weighted index that tracks the performance of the 500 publicly traded companies in the United States. These companies represent sectors like finance, consumer goods, energy, healthcare, and technology.
Standard & Poor's, a financial services company, created the S&P 500 Index in 1957. Over the years, the index has been one of the world's most notable stock market indices. It serves as a yardstick for assessing the US economy's performance and as a guidepost or beacon for individual and institutional investors. A good understanding of the S&P 500 is instrumental to making informed financial decisions.
A company's inclusion in the S&P 500 Index requires more than a large market value. It must also meet certain criteria. First, the company's market capitalization should be at least $20.5 billion. It must also be based in the United States and have reported positive earnings in the most recent quarter and the entire past year. Furthermore, a majority of the company's shares should be available for public purchase. The organization must trade publicly on at least one of the following stock exchanges: the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ), or the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The S&P 500 Index undergoes regular committee reviews, which make adjustments based on the specified criteria.
The S&P 500 Index depends on a company's market capitalization, which is derived by multiplying the stock price by the number of shares. This means that large companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple are more weighted than smaller companies. The S&P 500 Index uses a market-cap weighting system, which allows the index to highlight the best-performing companies.
The S&P 500 Index is important because it serves as a reliable indicator of the economy. It covers various industries and sectors, so it can help determine the overall health of the economy. When the S&P 500 values increase, this signals economic growth. Conversely, a decline in values might be symbolic of recessionary circumstances or headwinds.
Many use the S&P 500 as a benchmark to evaluate the performance of individual stocks, mutual funds, and investment portfolios. Although the index focuses on the US market, its influence stretches beyond the United States. Many of the companies within it operate globally, and as a result, the S&P 500's performance often reflects broader global investor sentiment.
Its accessibility appeals to investors, offering products like index funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), such as the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust SPY. It allows investors to gain exposure to all 500 companies with a single investment, ensuring diversification and a relatively low-cost way to participate in the US stock market.
However, the index has its limitations. A small number of large-cap companies, particularly in sectors such as technology, tend to dominate the index, which falls into concentration risk. If those companies struggle, they can drag down the entire index. Additionally, since it focuses solely on the US market, the S&P 500 doesn't offer international diversification. It also overlooks small and mid-cap stocks, which, while riskier, sometimes deliver higher growth potential. For a more balanced portfolio, investors may want to pair the S&P 500 with other global or small-cap investments.

In some situations, it is necessary to observe someone closely to find out the truth. Surveillance, which can be tracking a spouse, business partner, or even an employee, is one of the most popular services offered by private detectives in Bangalore.
At Ion Detective Agency, we offer our clients the advantage of advanced technology such as GPS trackers, spy cameras, and motion detection gadgets, all of which work in monitoring subjects without detection. Our findings come alongside all supporting documents and evidence with timestamps for every claim made.
6. Missing Persons and Skip Tracing
Bangalore’s vast population, alongside the city’s fast-paced life, allows people to get lost easily, whether intentionally or unintentionally. An absent teenage student, a runaway debtor, or a seemingly missing person can all be found, but require expert guidance to become accessible.
These specialists do not come easily as Ion Detective Agency designs them, professional skip tracers, data miners, and physical trackers all in one. Engaging the services of a private detective in Bangalore enables you to leverage resources that the enforcement agency cannot provide in civil matters.
7. Divorce Case Support and Alimony Investigations
Without proper evidence, legal matters can turn complicated. If you are considering filing for divorce where financial wrongdoing or infidelity could affect alimony or custody, a private investigator in Bangalore can ensure you have all the needed documentation.
Ion Detective Agency works with your lawyers to present evidence that can be used in court, enhancing your position and chances of success in the legal battle.
8. Cyber Crime and Digital Forensics
Because of the high number of IT professionals and startups in Bangalore, cybercrime is one of the fastest spreading crimes. Online stalking, hacking, phishing, and spy operations are just a few of the many threats that are emerging.
Ion Detective Agency possesses a specialized unit for digital forensic analysis. A private detective in Bangalore skilled in cyber investigations can pinpoint IP addresses, retrieve lost documents, and monitor questionable online activities. This enables people and businesses to feel secure in a digitally advanced world.
9. Sting Operations
Firsthand information can easily be obtained through sting operations. Ion Detective Agency assures compliance with applicable laws while dealing with corporate espionage, infidelity, or any other personal issue, employing highly skilled professionals.
Our private detectives in Bangalore can perform surveillance on the use of traps without the subject’s knowledge. The results speak for themselves, as the truth is always revealed beyond any reasonable doubt.
10. Asset Verification and Financial Investigations
In the case of fraudulent spouses or business partners, verifying claimed assets becomes imperative, and a detective’s skill set is indispensable. Ion Detective Agency assists clients with hidden or undisclosed properties, bank accounts, and other true investments.
