This fucker. As much as I like Battle of Gods, this redhead continued a trend that started with a green tinged Broly and ended with orange fucking Piccolo and a cast of otter pop flavored Super Saiyans.

Orange Piccolo

Speaking of lazy, visually unappealing, late stage capitalism embodying recolors, Piccolo is orange now. Yes I know he hasn't been relevant in a fight since his introduction in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and briefly when Toriyama remembered against Second Form Frieza and Imperfect Cell, but it's ok, don't worry kids, HE'S ORANGE.

Why is he a xenomorph? Why is he a xenomorph?! I guess I wasn't expecting him to be a xenomorph, which is typical for Toriyama, but WHY IS HE A XENOMORPH??? Like it's weird he's the alien from Alien, right? And it's weirder that he's almost 1:1 the pirate robot Goku fought in OG Dragon Ball

Fifth Form Cooler

Oh fuck you. You fucking piece of shit. Fifth form? You're so non-canon it hurts. This couldn't just be his second form or idk his third form, since Frieza's second form was already Cooler. But it's his fifth! And Goku has to be there, because it's filler, so the threat needs to be bigger. It's not like the Frieza race are shapeshifters. Of course they're not dipshit, they all follow the same template. They're like the evolution chart detailing prehistoric ape to cromagnon man to blond guy. And this is his fifth form!

Imagine if this had been a Piccolo movie set while Goku was on Yardrat. We have Frieza's bro, who's not just miraculous stronger despite never doing anything about it, but he's still more powerful than the second form Frieza Piccolo fought. Idk. Fuck Coola

Super Buu

This one is basically a Dragon Ball IQ test. At first glance he looks ok, maybe even cool. However, those with sufficient gray matter can easily ascertain that he's actually garbage, and that Fat Buu was the best design all along. He's just so generic looking, which is almost impressive for a guy so pink and sponge-y looking. Oh. And his transformation includes raiding people's wardrobe without realizing that shit don't even match

Super Saiyan 3

See, a bad transformation isn't just about aesthetics. And don't get me wrong, the aesthetics are also awful. That caveman brow, the Raditz hair, those obscene spikes. But no, the worst part about Super Saiyan 3, the thing that I truly absolutely despise, is how effortlessly it cheapens Super Saiyan and Gohan's feat of going Beyond Super Saiyan

Because everyone had that thought the second Trunks arrived and went blond. That they could do it. Gohan, Vegeta, Ghost of Nappa, and any other Saiyan that might be out there. All of them could go Super Saiyan now, it's not prophecy after all. And that leads to the question of escalation. What next?

Well the Cell Saga answered this. Gohan was next. He went Beyond Super Saiyan. The boy did what his dad don't, he fucking mastered that shit. Then out comes Super Saiyan 3 like a baaaaad fart. But it only gets worse. It's a flawed, incomplete transformation that only works if you're dead. It's strong, but burns through energy faster than the body can collect it. And that's that. Dragon Ball ends, Goku saving the day without even using his new form. Dragon Ball GT introduces SS4 and DBS provides a crayon box of recolors for you to shove up your nose, all the while Super Saiyan 3 is left in the dust. It came, we all saw it, it sucked.

As for the fusions I absolutely adore the fusions, I love them a lot! Currently my fave is Gogeta, mostly cause he’s the last one Ive seen the most of having watched dbs Broly recently. I am also very bias to Gogeta’s base design and SS4 design. Hes just straight up titts out kajskajsk and in ss4 he’s just so Big and I love his hair colour so much haha.

I’m slowly making my way through a long overdue rewatch of DBZ and Im very keen to get back into the fusions and be reminded all of the things I have forgotten about them. I do love how the fusions end up being a nice balance of Goku and Vegeta in different ways.

Can two fusions fuse together as well?

Canonically? We don't know, but I also assume it wouldn't be all that practical, as seen with Vegito's immense power reducing the 1-Hour time limit immensely, which seems to be a potara weakness.

Fusion Dance itself seems to allow Gogeta to use al the power of Blue, but then again we don't know if he really went all out against Broly in his fight.

But back to the matter at hand, if you used Potara to do a Gogeta+Vegito fusion into Gogito, it would likely only last a few seconds at most from the immense power, while the fusion dance would likely be a Gogeta SS4 situation, where it won't even last a minute, let alone five.

Updated the F/O list section with small descriptions of my AUs for my men! I'll post them here too:

Vegito never defuses in the Future Trunks saga. Afterwards, he takes up Goku's old job of being a vegetable farmer to support Chi Chi and Goten. The ToP still occurs but goes differently (one big difference being that Frieza doesn't get revived). DBS: Broly never happens.

Gogeta never defuses in DBS: Broly due to a spacetime anomaly. Broly still gets wished away, but Gogeta kills Frieza. Afterwards, he takes up a meat-butchering job for some income. (Goten primarily helps Chi Chi with the farm.)

Four never defuses in the Shadow Dragon saga due to the ki power from Vegeta's SS4 transformation being corrupted by the artificial Blutz Waves emitted from Bulma's machine (his fused state is essentially "locked")*. Omega Shenron is killed by him. Afterwards, he withdraws to have a solitary, retirement-esque life in the wilderness surrounding Korin's Tower. A good friend to the Karinga Tribe.

The unfortunate duality of ultra Instinct and SS4 both being super rad but coming from overall underwhelming extensions of the series. Super was better than GT but DB and Z are still leagues better.

Battle of Gods, Broly and Super Hero are all amazing tho, and I DO love base SS god. I just don’t much care for blue. Mastered ultra instinct is okay but I still prefer the imperfect version when Goku still had black hair.

Just an entire day of being disappointed with new super forms from all directions, huh?

At least I’ve seen some positive takes on Frieza’s new Black form, but Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan are both so ugly, bland and banal...

“I made a wish on the Dragon Balls” “I got reeeaaal mad”

Blah blah blah...

I don’t mind the color scheme for Piccolo, honestly, but the fact that he just bulked up...that’s pretty boring. I appreciate that his antenna point upward, but I really hope that this form is like...the first step towards something else. The symbol on Piccolo’s back ostensibly was the ajisa trees on Namek, which tells me that it’s somehow meant to evoke some deeper meaning for Namekian culture. Hopefully that will somehow make a deeper impact later, like maybe Piccolo somehow gets plant features or something? Though really I’d like him to get dragon features to evoke Shenron, personally

Gohan’s hair? Absolutely terrible. Don’t mind the color too much, though we already have silver with Ultra Instinct, but man, that style looks absolutely ridiculous. Nurarihyon lookin’ ass. Cut that in half, let it fall like SS4, I don’t care, just stop looking like italicized Vegeta x2

But most of all...

EXPLAIN! Give us some context! At least Broly had the barebones explanation of Legendary Super Saiyan being going Super Saiyan while channeling Oozaru’s power without transforming. How did Broly do that? Who cares, what matters is that he’s exhibiting that berserker power specifically AND can go Super Saiyan while doing it

Is “Beast” something anyone can do under the right circumstances, like a martial artist gaining Ultra Instinct? Is it a Saiyan thing? Did Gohan activate the power of Oozaru without turning into it, but combine the Wrath State with Potential Unleashed? Or is it something that originates from his human side? If so, can other humans do it, or is it that Gohan’s Saiyan heritage inherently pushed him so far past human limitations that he achieved something that humans can technically do but never could at their current collective level?

And if Orange Piccolo came from Piccolo’s own latent power, can any Namekian do it? Or is it because Piccolo technically has the power of all three Namekian Clans, the Dragon, Warrior and Demon clans by being King Piccolo’s child fused with Kami and Nail? 

...Could the three clans each have their own special forms that Piccolo is technically able to reach if he trains the right traits, and Orange was a Warrior trait? Or because its color scheme resembles the Dragon Balls, is it a Dragon Clan ability? It’s certainly not a Demon Clan ability. One of the games implied that Piccolo would get a power up from finding King Piccolo’s soul and reuniting with it, would that give him access to a Demon Clan specific form? I’d sure love to see it, honestly

I love the little notes of their mutual pining and how I tried to capture how natural their non-sensual intimacy was from years together. Very proud of this one!

My first best boy(tm) fic when I became so in love with him and the start of Delicate, so you know I am in love with this. I wrote this from a personal headcanon that Broly would have some affinity for thunderstorms, whether they unnerved him or he actually liked it and I was really happy in capturing Broly's mannerisms here and how water was still so new to him.
