In the Jaws of St. Camillus
Father Valencia is a friendly priest from the capital tasked with revitalizing the distant island province of St. Camillus. His kindness immediately uplifts the community. And yet despite all his apparent benevolence, Mr. Rivera, the island's funeral director, senses something is off... content warnings: catholicism, violence, alcohol, smoking, implied abuse, vehicular accidents, mild homophobia, manipulation, death, detailed corpses, blood, knives, snakes, crocodiles
my 120+ page religious filipino old man yuri comic is out now. if you even care!!!

Saint Camillus de Lellis
1550-1614
Feast Day: July 18
Patronage: the sick, physicians, nurses, hospitals, doctors
Saint Camillus de Lellis was an Italian soldier that overcame his gambling habit and other vices to become a Capuchin Priest. After he received permission from his confessor, St. Philip Neri, he founded the Camillian order to minister to the sick and wounded soldiers, building hospitals and the first field medical units in the battlefield. The red cross symbol was their sign of charity and service. After years of suffering from a battle wound, he died in Rome.

Doing a little SBCF comic recommendations list for the ones I've read so far because there's some really great comics on there that are only available for like, two more days!!! and people should read them!!!! I will be updating this hopefully tonight or tomorrow as well since I just bought a ton :]
All's Faire in Love and War by Laura Rovinsky is about a group of jousters at a renaissance faire that's VERY close to being shut down. It's got messy divorces! Faillesbians! Bonds forged through adversity (horse riding)! Guys who are surrounded by bees for unknown reasons! It's a very fun one, I enjoyed it a lot!
Crossing Wires by Marty Tina G. is about a bounty hunter sharing her mind with the consciousness of a businesswoman who she used to be close with. I LOVE the art style and colors, and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's an emotional read, but also has its silly moments, and the ending had me tearing up a little.
Dancing With Tigers by lagi town is one of my favorites! It's about Noan, who is tired of performing with his cousin, but changes his mind after an encounter with a stranger in a bar. I LOVE the art style, and the story is a beautiful one that keeps you guessing what will happen next.
In the Jaws of St. Camillus by Stevie Barot ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS FOREVER. It's about a funeral director and his relationship with the new, well-liked priest who comes to the island of St. Camillus. The art is gorgeous, it's mysterious, and it's very very good. please read this one.
Marrow by Sloane Hong is a body horror comic about a person who works at a place dubbed the "farm." It's eerie, it's incredibly well drawn, it leaves you guessing in a very good way! It's good horror baby!!
NAPKIN! by Jade LFT Peters another favorite! It's about Shelby, who makes a bet with her friends that she'll draw someone on a napkin and meet them within the week which prompts a very contemplative afternoon. It's about relationships, its about the nice conversations you have with strangers, its about secret little powers and it's delightful.
Wee Wanderings by Cynthia Yuan Cheng is a travelogue about visiting Scotland! I'm always a sucker for autobio comics and this was no exception- it's written really well with cute art to match!

Please pray for my family and I. We had to say goodbye to one of our dogs today (we've had her since I was 12, and since I'm at university, I wasn't even able to say goodbye), my father is receiving tests next week due to a possibly cancerous mass, and my grandmother is having surgery to repair severely torn tendons in her foot next week as well. I also get married in 43 days and everything is so, so overwhelming all at once.
Hello, apologies for the delay in responding to you. I had my queue running while I was away in another city and I'm just getting onto Tumblr just now. Of course I will pray for yourself and your family, and I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dogs and everything just kind of happening at once.
Here are some prayers that should hopefully be of comfort to you:
Someone wrote a parting prayer for the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi for their pet which you may find of comfort (you'll just need to tweak it to the correct pronouns)
Prayer to say goodbye to a pet
Prayer to St. Peregrine, Patron of Cancer Patients
Prayer for negative biopsy results
Prayer for medical tests (Both this one and the two prayers above will need to be modified slightly as they're personal prayers)
Prayers for surgery and recovery
Prayer to St. Camillus (There are other prayers here that are meant to be personal prayers alongside a prayer for a family member. You can always try adapting those other prayers too)
A marriage blessing prayer
Prayers for married couples
Prayers for marriage
Calmness prayers
Prayers and Bible verses for anxiety
St. Augustine's prayer for when feeling overwhelmed

pictured: St. Camillus Children's Hospital 45**** G******* Rd. 08822 NJ, pictured the morning and night of 31st October, 19XX. The hospital had been receiving anonymous threats via mail over the course of the prior several months and many of the patients and nonessential staff had been temporarily evacuated to other locations. The sheriff's department has not publicized its statement on the matter at this time.
Not all of them got out.
