Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Cheats

Enable Console
Start by head to the following file location:
C:Users[USER NAME]DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VI
Now, make a backup of the AppOptions.txt file. Open that file and scroll down to the [Debug] section of the file. Look for a line containing the following text:
EnableDebugMenu 0
Change the 0 in that text so that it reads 1, and start playing the game like usual. Then press ~ (TILDE, THE KEY ABOVE TAB) to access the debug console.
Easy Deity Win (Exploit)
You can win the game on Deity difficulty and score some easy achievements by taking the following steps:
Choose your civilization.
Create a custom game with only “Score Victory” checked, and change the turn limit to 1.
Load the game and choose the Found City option.
End your turn as soon as the option becomes available.
You win the match, just like that, and you will unlock numerous achievements. This works on any difficulty setting.
Reveal the Entire Map
Use a text editor to edit the “Config.ini” file in your Steam Apps folder or the “DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization 6” directory.

Find the “DebugPanel = 0” line and change it to “DebugPanel = 1”
Save and close the “Config.ini” file.
While playing the game, press ~ to display the debug panel.
Select “Reveal All” to reveal the entire map.
There are also other debug options you can enable.
Now you can easily access Debug Console in Civilization VI in-game. In order to activate it you just need to PRESS TILDE “~”. It will open a Debug Window, from there select “Reveal All” option.
Trading Glitch
When trading with the AI, you can use two major glitchs:
1- Give any strategic or luxury resources and as much gold per turn as possible, then click the option whatwill you give me for this?, the AI will break and will offer insane amounts of goldand gold per turn just for the resource.

2- Ask for whatever you want from the AI (cities included) and start putting gold (not gold per turn, only normal gold) untilthey accept the deal, then reduce until you’re as close as possible to the required amount, Ex: 25890 Gold of 26000 required, and click on the option make this trade equitable, this will break the AI and will ask an amount of gold per turn proportional to how close you were to the real price. (I bought 5 cities for 3 gold per turn and a jeans in emperor difficulty). This glitch can also be used in multiplayer matches that include AI, but will surely get patched soon.
Early Domination
If you want to enjoy Civilization 6’s battle systems, it’ll be best to pick up the Aztecs, Scythia, or the Spartan Greece. Aztecs allow your own territories to have more tile improvements as their Eagle Warriors convert slain units into Builder units. Meanwhile, Scythia’s units have bonuses against targeting wounded enemy units. Lastly, the Spartan Greece units generate Culture per enemy unit killed. Waging war in the earlier eras yields fewer Warmonger penalties, so feel free tosiege other Civilizations or City States if you need something from them. If you manage to take every Capital or wipe out every leader in the match, your Civilization will attain the laborious and difficult Domination Victory.

Camera keys
With Civilization VI now out in the wild, one of the biggest gripes is the camera control not being mapped to WASD. The good news is that camera keys can be changedwith some simple file editing. Next you need to add the same entries above to the DefaultKeyUpHandler section. Note that you will also need to rebind the default Attack and Great Works default keys to something else so your new camera keys do not conflict.

Rename Cities
1) Go to the Civilization VI installation folder – C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VI.
2) Go to Base > Assets > Text > install language – ..SteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VIBaseAssetsTexten_US.
3) Then open the file named “CityNames_Text.xml” with any text editor, then search for the city/civilization that you want to rename. Change the name there and save. Once you are all done reload the game and you will find your city name changed.
Disable Unit Auto Cycle
Go to ..UsersDocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VI
Then open “UserOptions.txt”
After that go to “line 60” then change “AutoUnitCycle 1” to “AutoUnitCycle 0”
Save the file “UserOptions.txt”
Once you are all done then save (Ctrl + S)

Version 0.14
So, after completely failing last time to actually implement the list of non-timed out numbers last time, that is the sole purpose of today's post. The way I've decided to implement this is to have stacks within stacks. stack-ception if you will!
So, I'm thinking to have all of the numbers displayed on the screen at all times in 2 rows of 5. Once the counter has timed out on a certain number, change that number to an ‘X’. Hopefully, it’ll be quick and easy to see exactly which numbers have timed out and which haven't - adding the strategy element to the game.
My plan is to have 2 horizontal stacks containing the numbers 1-5 and 6-10 receptively, and have these contained with a vertical stack.
I created the first horizontal stack by simply dragged the Object Library, then 5 imageViews and arranging them in the left-hand menu as shown below:
For each imageView, I added the appropriate number (I reused the numbers from the counter) and set the stackView distribution to fill equally and each of the imageViews to Aspect Fit.
I then repeated this process with a second Horizontal stack for numbers 6 - 10, using the same settings as above.
For some reason, the ‘score’ label wasn't showing up in the preview, however on both my iPhone and the emulator it appears.
Next thing to do is to implement the ‘timed out’ number system. To do this, I added each imageView as an IBOutlet so that I can then manipulate the image via the code.
In the newGame function, I then added the following code for each of the timed out numbers so that they would reset back to their original after each game:

I amended the numbersLeft function as follows, so that whatever the holdingValue is equal to, that number in the list gets swapped for an ‘X’
This now works as expected, the timed out numbers reset after the game has finished and they cross themselves off as the player progresses through the game.
As I was testing the game at this point, I noticed a few minor bugs and a major one. The minor bugs were to do with the images being displayed. I had misspelt ‘timer7green’ as ‘timergreen7′ so the green timer wasn't being called to appear. Also, with the timedout numbers, I hadn’t told timer 1 to change to timerX, so again this wasn't being displayed.
Whilst they were easy to fix, I had another major problem. If the count was going to 7 for example, and you pressed stop on 7, the score would increase by 7, however, the ‘X’ would still appear.
From my understanding, it is because of the numberChange function. When I'm in the function it has already called itself again on delay, so, when it repeats itself the IF equal to X condition kicks in running the endOfTurnX function.
I came up with a solution by moving the “&& hasStopBtnPressed == false” condition to a new IF statement, with everything inside it. The ELSE part of the IF statement is simply to run the endOfTurnStop function.

How to Build a Login Screen in SwiftUI
In WWDC 2019 Apple announced a completely new user interface development framework called SwiftUI. SwiftUI is a user interface toolkit that lets us design apps in a declarative way. There was lots of talk about whether we should use Storyboard or build UI programmatically. SwiftUI is the answer to all these questions. You can now develop the app's UI with a declarative Swift syntax.
No more storyboard, Interface Builder and Auto-layout
Earlier we used to develop user interfaces with storyboards, xib's and auto layout. But with SwiftUI, storyboard and auto-layout are completely out of the picture. Now the code editor is available with a preview canvas.
Migrating from UIKit to SwiftUI
If you've used UIKit before then you need to understand what's the UIKit component equivalent in SwiftUI. Many of the classes you know just by removing prefix UI but few have been renamed. Let's have a look at the list.

Creating Project:
Step 1 - Creating a new project with SwiftUI
Step 2 - Add the VStack in the View. It will act as Vertical StackView
Step 3 - Add title text as Login in the View and can set style to the Text.
Step 4 - Adding Image to the top of the Screen to show that its user's login and adding frame of width and height as shown below.

Step 6 - Adding placeholder to the textfield , Add Text and Value will be saved in the Variable.

Step 8 - Adding padding to bottom and given 15.
Step 9 - Adding Button of forgot password inside the HStack to align the right corner of the screen with the Text as shown below.

Step 10 - Add a button with the title “Login” for clicking the login functionality inside the VStack.
Step 11 - In this button Action will be added inside the action closure function and can add text to the button (i.e Title) and Style the button as shown.

Step 12 - Add a button which will have an action to move to SignUp Screen inside the HStack with spacing. Where the SignUp text will be clickable which we implement using Attribute text Similarly in SwiftUI it is implemented in Simple Way.

I saw the list of the top 5000 CocoaPods by download count, shared by Orta. What got my attention was that more than half of the top 35 pods listed are owned by big companies (Google, Facebook). And as Nick Lockwood observed on Twitter, some of those pods aren't even really open source, being only a Swift wrapper over a precompiled framework. Now don't get me wrong, those are solid, stable tools that get the job done, and I've also used and still use some of them in the projects I work on. I just wanted to reiterate on something that I also wrote about in a previous issue: we as developers need to be aware of all the implications of adding other SDKs to our app. The SDKs included in an app get access to the same data as the app (which can include keychain data, photos, location, camera, logins and others).
On a lighter note, you'll notice that I've added a 🙃 next to one of the tools included in this edition. That's because although I doubt anyone will find it useful in a real world app, I had too much fun when I saw it not to include it in this week's nesletter 😄.

In this update - adapting to different screen sizes and displaying the numbers which have timed out.
Screen sizes. I’m developing this game just for the iPhone at the moment, so the range of screen sizes are limited, however, they are something that I need to take into account. Having done some research, the use of stacks seems to be the best option for me.
From the Object Library in the Main.Storyboard view, I selected Vertical Stack View and dragged it onto the canvas.
Everything currently on the canvas - the counter, the startBtn, the stopBtn and the scoreLabel needs to be added to the stack. To do this, I just dragged the objects into the stack on the left-hand side menu.
The objects are stacked vertically based on their order in the StackView:
I was then able to apply constraints the StackView, to ensure that it fills the screen - regardless of what size the screen is. I set each constraint to be 5 away from the edge of the safe area. The result generated surprised me:
To fix this, I had to play around with the Content mode in the Attributes tabs for both the counter image and the Stack View itself.
Eventually, I managed to find a combination that worked me the game. This made the title/counter big and filled the screen, then the score and the buttons appeared underneath. At this point, I decided to test the game to see how the stack was working. This is when I hit a major problem. StackView lists everything one after another. So the startBtn and stopBtn were appearing one after another, without a way to overlap them.
I spent a long period of time thinking about how best to overcome this problem when I realised that I'd already created a solution to this problem earlier without knowing it. I’d already coding boolean values - startBtnActive and stopBtnActive.
My idea was to combine the startBtn and stopBtn into one button, whose images and function changed depending on the results of those boolean variables.
To change the image of the button, I found that the code I needed was this:
startBtn.setImage(UIImage(named: "stopbtn"), for: UIControlState.normal)
It's a little more complex than selecting a new image for the imageView, because it is a button and the button has different states to take into account.
Having experimented with having a single button a problem arose. The way the I had set the code up, after I combined the start and stop functions into one button, as soon as I pressed the button in ‘startmode’ stop mode would instantly activate as well, thus making the turn and an 1 each single time.
I went back to the drawing board and found a much better, much easier solution. Instead of using alpha values, I could use another piece of code - isHidden.
By swapping all of the alpha commands to isHidden commands I could swap out the buttons as and when required. This, however, caused another issue. When there was neither button on the screen, the stackView would resize everything to fill the screen.
For now, the quickest solution was to make 2 new graphics - one saying ‘STOPPED’ and one saying ‘TIMED OUT’. I then made the ‘STOPPED’ graphic appear when the player presses the stopBtn, and the ‘TIMER OUT’ graphic appear when the user fails to press the stopBtn.
Using the code I found before to change the graphic on a button, I wrote code so that if the stopBtn was pressed the “STOPPED” graphic would appear and likewise, if the counter timed out, have the ‘TIMED OUT” graphic appear.
I’m pleased to say that the game works as expected, and I actually like the ‘STOPPED’ and ‘TIMED OUT’ graphics more than I thought I would.
This post is getting quite long, so I’m going to save the list of what number have timed out until next time. I have a few ideas as to how to do this - more stacks required I think!
