Something that will never be not funny to me is that when a character or a ship is extremely popular some fans are acting like they are hated by everyone and that nobody likes it except themself. Also I'm using ao3 fanfics as a mean of popularity and if you don't like that shhhhhhhhhh.

Example no. 1: Tom Holland's Version of Peter Parker /Spiderman

Andrew Garfield's version has 2117 works currently if you exclude MCU and NWH crossovers and Tobey Maguire version has 975 works again exluding MCU and NWH crossover... Now let's see how many works on ao3 MCU Peter Parker has when you exclude the crossover with the other two.... Oh? It's 41155? That's over 10 times the over two have combined. But how could that be, everyone hates him? 🤔 Well, sunshine, idk how to tell you that but your poor most hated version is somehow the most popular.

Like please be reasonable and think. If he was that hated he wouldn't have the most famfics in an archive about him.

Example no. 2: Steddie (Steve Harrington x Eddie Munson)

Now, I haven't been in this fandom for long so you can comment "typical new fan" in the comments I guess.

Also this will maybe trigger some Steddie fans even though I ship if myself, but some steddie shippers remind me of a chihuahua. Not because they are small, because I will show you soon they are not when it comes to fic numbers, but they just attack everything and everyone that ships something different or not steddie. They act like everyone not shipping them is homophobic and that everyone is against them.

I don't even know if I should mention the numbers because it isn't a huge secret that the steddie tag over took the harringrove shipping tag on ao3. I mean some people really worked for it. If you count in the fics that are just standholders for "just a fic idea, will soon write something :)" or small sentences or in general nearly every fic being the same, which I didn't think was possible since I normally love reading similar plots but this time I couldn't tell which fic was which, when it got updated since they were nearly identical.

Anyways, Steddie shippers don't have to act like they are the unpopular ship in the fandom when they are the most popular Stranger Things ship on ao3 currently with 8931 fics. Like pls Eddie and this ship has only been here for a few months, overtook a ship that has been there for 5 years and you all act like you are the uncool and the oppressed ones. Do you have a victim complex or something? Because you literaly can't be the most popular fic and the most hated at the same time. (also small tip, don't attack everyone, who doesn't share your opinion on ships. Maybe people will like you more :) )

So yeah, fans of the popular things acting oppressed is never not funny. It's okay to like popular things, nobody is out there to get you. It's okay to like something everybody else likes and you don't have to act like you have a niche interest.

artisan jam and jelly maker cas and craft brewer dean only see each other once a year at the state festival for small business owners and it's not at all enough for either of them

they have no idea the other feels the same way so they just pine and pine, and it's fine, it's okay, they think, it's just a harmless crush that burns bright for a few days, it's just a bit of fantasizing during the year, it's just, on a few occasions, counting down the days till the next festival

cas likes it when their stands are placed one next to the other cause he gets to observe dean as much as he wants, his broad shoulders, his nice smile and his warm and welcoming ways with the costumers.

his space is always a coming and going of family and friends that stop by just to say hello and yes, cas gets distracted a lot and there's people that "invade his space" and "bother him", as dean puts it when he apologizes for their behaviour - but cas doesn't mind if charlie crosses the invisible border to chat or benny leans over to tell his costumers how to use jam in their dishes the way he does at his restaurant. when his brother sam comes by, he gets lunch for cas as well and cas scoots his chair on their side and it's like they're one big family with two stands

sometimes he joins dean for a drink after closing time, cause dean always has some cold ones in his car. one time, on a last day of the festival, they sit close together and talk until late, while all the other standholders around them pack up and leave. they exchange email addresses that neither of them ever uses and they sigh all the way home on their journey the morning after, daydreaming about freckles and blue eyes and deep voice and what could be, if only -

on some years they are placed apart, but the letdown gets balanced by the thrill of anticipation at seeing each other by chance. when dean gets his stand near the coffee truck, he gets to say hello every time cas walks past to go get his coffee and on a few occasions cas even stops by and brings him a cup

one year some costumers approach cas' stand saying that it was the nice brewer on the other side of the festival to recommend his products, so cas returns the favour with the next group of people and they go on and on for the whole event

one time cas sells everything he has early and goes over to dean to ask him if he needs any help. it's an hour to closing time and there are only a few people around, but dean says sure. he jokes about surreptitious advertising because of the logo on his tshirt and cas agrees to wear one of his, with the brewery logo on it and even if it's nothing but a plain black tshirt, not dissimilar to the one he was already wearing, it turns out to be all in all a very unsettling experience for dean

and yet

they’re not really anything to one another. they're not friends, nor colleagues, they're just two guys who are nice to each other and who happen to share the same space occasionally once a year, like summer friends. they really have no reason to contact each other the rest of the year so they just get on with their lives and barely think about the other -

and okay, fine

dean follows cas' business account on social media and secretly stalks his personal, heavily relying on his “tagged” section since cas barely posts anything relevant. that’s how he gets to see the faces of his brothers and sisters, his friend meg, his nephew samandriel that comes out to the festival sometimes to help him out

and

one summer dean places an order on cas' website under a fake name, but only because he finishes the free supply of jam that cas' kindly offers him every year. he could have just placed the order as himself, but, as he tries to tell sam, he didn't do it because cas wouldn't have let him pay and for no other reason. he feels horrible for a week when cas sends a handwritten note wishing all the best to mr campbell

and

one winter cas has a business meeting in dean's town and he thinks about showing up at his brewery or sending him an email asking to meet up, but he doesn't do it and just walks the streets half dreading and half dreaming about running into him by chance and he's both relieved and disappointed when that doesn't happen.

according to anna he needs to do something about his feelings. he tries to tell her that there are no feelings involved – there can’t be. dean is just someone he has idealized a bit, which is an entertaining pastime and nothing else, so there's no need, no need at all to blow it out of proportions

Laddie knew he wasn't suppose to wander of on his own, but sometimes he just couldn't help it. Seeing all the games, the prizes - he just liked them a lot and wanted to see them even though his brothers didn't. So, he sneaked off, going to see what kind of games he wanted to play when he was older and what kind of prizes he would win.

Walking around, he noticed her - playing one of those shooting games. He was just about to walk up to her, asking if she would help him play the game - right when he bumped into someone.

"Watch where you're going -" the man looked down, a sinister smirk appearing on his face. "You! You little fuck - don't think I've forgotten you!" The man was ready to hit him.

Laddie stood there, quite literally frozen. It hadn't been his fault that he'd thrown up on that surfnazi. Paul had dragged him into the rollercoaster, insisted on going at least nine times after each other (because it was fun, right?). He'd gotten of the coaster feeling okay, until he didn't. He was standing in the boardwalk again, threw up leaning over the railing, only to accidentally throw up on this surfnazis head.

"What the hell did he do to make you so pissed?"

It was the girl from the game, giving a cold look to the surfnazi.

"It's none of your fucking business bi-"

"I think it is, see," she smiled, standing next to Laddie, "my cousin is new in town. So whatever you think he did? Well, it wasn't him."

"Yeah? Fuck you - I think I'd remember a little punk like that!"

She sighed, shaking her head. "Apparently not. Get the fuck out of here."

The surfnazi sighed angrily, giving her a pissed off glare. "This isn't over, bitch!"

"Ma'am, you still get to pick a prize," the standholder called the girl, causing her to smile. "Is there any you'd like?" she asked Laddie, who turned to point at a cute teddybear.

"Thank you," he smiled as she handed it to him, "I'm Laddie."

"Kate. Are you sure you're okay? Is there anyone I could help you look for?"

"My brothers are here somewhere, I think."

With that Kate walked down the boardwalk, holding Laddies hand as he searched for his brothers. He told her quite a lot about them - their hobbies, likes and dislikes. They searched for almost twenty minutes before he found them, pointing at four boys.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Laddie asked as they neared the group, causing Kate to laugh quietly.

"What?"

"A boyfriend? Or a girlfriend?"

"N-no- I eh, I don't."

"Who's this?"

Kate looked up to see they'd arrived at the group, and the one that was seemingly the leader looked at Laddie - who quickly explained how he met her and how she helped him.

"And them she got me this teddybear!"

"Thanks for helping him."

"Yeah, no problem." Kate smiled, looking at David, a he introduced himself.

Kate stood there for a while, feeling rather uncomfortable. "I think I should go. It was nice meeting you guys."

"Hold up!" Paul said, right before she walked off. "Laddie likes you. We think your cool. Why not hang out with us?"

"Oh, I don't know."

"What's the worst that can happen?" Marko asked, causing Kate to laugh loudly.

"Do you want a list?"

The boys chuckled.

"Please hang out with us?" Laddie looked at her, giving her the best pleading eyes he could.

"Fine. But if I die I will be haunting all of you!"

"Is that a promise?" Dwayne asked, a sly grin on his face.

With that she climbed on the back of David's bike, holding on to him as they drove towards their home. Kate was quite surprised to see the cave, hearing the story and getting to know the boys a bit better. They were definitely more fun and chill than they looked out on the boardwalk, where the main thing they seemed to be was dangerous.

As it was getting later and later, Kate finally just asked if she could stay the night. It would be no use to find a motel now, and they hopefully had a place for her either on a sparebed or just on a couch. David had smiled, leading her to a nicely decorated room. "If you need anything during the day, second door to the right is the kitchen. Well probably be out, so just enjoy yourself."

With that he'd wished her a goodnight, before rejoining the boys.

"She's sweet," Marko noted as he looked at the others. He was the one who had spotted her first, seeing her wander around the boardwalk. They hadn't quite known how to approach her, but luckily Laddie had wandered off and arranged that for them. Well, luckily - luckily she stood up for him, helped him seek them and met them as a result of that.

"You think she really is our mate?"

"I don't know," David looked at Dwayne. "I won't complain if she is."

"You think she'll be a good fit?" Paul asked.

"She got some sort of fire in there," David nodded, a small and rare smile on his face. "We'll see what she'll be to us. We figure it out along the way."
