About once a year, I am temporarily transfixed with the intense urge to research as much as I possibly can and read the most detailed accounts I can find about different deaths in caves. This happens and then once I've read enough, the compulsion goes away and I'm fine again.

I didn't used to be scared of caves. Maybe the whole obsessive reading thing is keeping me safe, because I'm terrified of 'em now.

Anyways all this is to say do you think I'm being tormented by the Buried because I feel like if I were I'd be more directly trapped in caves or something right? Maybe this is some weird Eye thing.

A very interesting case. This is definitely a manifestation of the Eye, though a strangely specific one.

My guess? The Eye has a craving for cave deaths, like going out for Thai food once a month. Keeps things fresh.

hi! I can highly recommend the dragonheart novel (available on the internet archive) if you like the movie! it's a novelization of the script rather than the movie and is supposed to represent the vision pogue originally had for the movie that was completely ruined in the process of making it. and it rules. it's more serious and deep than the movie and pogue has such a way to use themes that weave throughout the story. it's not groundbreaking literature and clearly written by someone who's primarily a screenwriter (affectionate) with some fantasy genre and 90's typical problems (derogatory) but you can tell that especially the relationship between bowen and draco was something he cared unbelievably deeply about and those parts are written in a way that could just rot your brain away. (sorry for the long random message, but I simply must spread the good word of this book I'm hyperfixating on rn)

Okay, this made me want to read it even more! I didn't know that his vision for the movie got ruined, but it's nice to know that we still have it albeit in another form.

Statement of Gibby regarding a…strange deer sighting on her way back to her apartment. Statement given November 13, 2023

Statement begins:

It was late at night…I already hate driving late at night. You see, my cars headlights are extremely dimmed, to the point that even my brights aren’t enough to cut through the darkness. So I drive slower at night. Especially in the country roads. I’m not stupid. I know there are a lot of deer this late into the season. So I drive slow, acknowledge every deer and animal I see on the sides of the road, in the fields and forest to my sides.

It was after I saw the two coyotes that I came upon it. I was just starting to get to the more familiar part of the country roads, starting to relax a bit more and take a breath, I could see the towns lights up ahead. And then all I saw was a deer. A buck as long as my car wide and much taller than my car. So large that I knew if I hit it, it would be walking away and I wouldn’t.

I honked at it. I can’t say why I did. I knew it wouldn’t do anything, maybe I was just hoping the sound would scare it enough that it would jump off the road, out of my way. The sound did nothing. The thing didn’t even look my way, luckily there was room enough and no other cars on the road that I could swerve into the other lane around it. But the rest of the car ride home, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched-followed even. I still can’t.

As a lot of others do, I own a dash cam and so i decided to do my own follow up. After I got back I took it off and wanted to replay and see the thing for myself. But when I plugged it in, I noticed the quality of the video greatly decreased from what it normally provides…and where the moment I should have seen the deer there was…nothing-not nothing. But the video was distorted beyond anything recognizable and ended. Just cut off. There was nothing left recorded after I should have seen the deer…but it just wasn’t there..nothing was but that distorted footage

maybe it’s just me, but expecting taylor to have come out with a statement already is a bit insensitive. this entire situation — knowing her concerts were the target of a thwarted terrorist attack, knowing thousands of people came close to being physically harmed or losing their lives — is terrifying, and would be difficult for anyone to grapple with. for all we know, intelligence agencies may have advised her to not say anything right now in order to keep herself, her team, and all of us safe. first and foremost, please keep in mind that she’s taylor, an actual human being before she’s taylor swift, the brand. give her some much-needed space to process this and sort through her emotions. if you think she doesn’t care, you don’t know her well at all.

The thing I never got about the fan reaction to Mel and Jayce's relationship (in general) is that people were incensed on Jayce's behalf that Mel used him for political gain, but like... that's what happens when the government sponsors your research. Obviously the funding mechanisms aren't the same because Piltover is an oligarchy where civic functions such as the Enforcers and even Zaun's ventilation system are privately funded instead of through a common pool of taxpayer money, but the purpose is the same, which is to benefit from the conclusions drawn from the results of the research.

I don't understand how anyone in the audience could be shocked or angry that when Mel, a high ranking representative of Piltover’s government, chose to invest in hextech it wasn't clear that she and Piltover would benefit. And it's not like this foreign concept to Jayce, he was originally being SPONSORED by the Kirammans', which is almost the same relationship except it's more explicitly private to the Kirammans' benefit, but I didn't see any pitchforks out for Tobias and Cassandra.

It's just such a double whammy headache to end up reading posts where Mel is hypervillainized while Jayce is practically infantilized because as an adult man in his 30s he simply can't understand complex relationships or make his own decisions. The way some fans have been offended on Jayce's behalf straight up erases any agency or even intelligence he has.
