My fav thing about TAZ is that any aspect out of context sounds fucking bonkers.
Like, in the balance finale there's a scene in which Garfield (who is very specifically never described visually bc most people imagine him as like. The Lasagna Cat. Who in this universe is the most powerful warlock in the realm and also has a hobby of cloning people, which is great for the one character that got forced into haunting a mannequin) is summoned by an alien spaceship that runs on the power of friendship so he could beat up some flashing balls. In D&D.
And that was just. Such a normal scene in the narrative. No one blinked an eye. I would like to bow down to Griffins clear unmatched talent for making me feel such big emotions over ridiculous shit like a goddamned umbrella or a regular ass pair of jeans or the idea of a taco recipe.

The day passed in blood, liquor and black lace. Not so unlike the others. He expected the debauchery, the violence. The symphony of gunfire. An NCPD Enforcer set ablaze beneath the neon sky, the sound of it's burning only deafened by their laughter. But he did not expect the cake. He couldn't remember the last time he had had one. Sometime long before. Before he was this. Before the callouses and the scars. He could hardly even picture it now—delicate hands ripped away from the flame of a birthday candle. Another life, one that no longer belonged to him.
He plucked a chocolate frosted cigarette and placed it between his lips. An attempt to hide his smile. "You make this all by yourself?"
"Fuck no. Klepped it from some fucking kid."
"Smokes too?"
"Took 'em from your glove box."
"Fuckin' devil."
"Happy birthday, Dag."
The words rang sweet as the cigarette tasted. Like none he had had before.

Does catnap, ever do anything mysterious sometimes?
Dogday ponders for a while before finally answering, a little giggly.
"Well, not that I know of... What I find mysterious myself is how he can very easily fall asleep on command.... He once fell asleep on top of a tree..."

if, and i suspect this might be the case, jon comes back a liiiittle bit wrong (fire and blood levels elevated) i am actually foaming at the mouth anticipating the possible parallels between him and lady stoneheart. completely at odds in life but thematically joined by the common cause of seeking ruthless vengeance for house stark in their afterlives? IMPECCABLE.
i've also always thought it incredibly tragic, without pointing fingers, that jon and cat loved the same people fiercely but could never understand each other past their mutual fear. with the social conventions that bound them in life stripped away, it would be incredibly satisfying to recognise that protective and loving core they share, corrupted by suffering though it might be.
