What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?
Stefen/Elena or Elena/Damon or Bella/Jacob
Which ship would you consider your first one?
Lizzie & Gordo (Lizzie McGuire) or Kim/Ron (Kim Possible) Sam & Freddy, Seddie (iCarly) I Was Actually Really Well Known In The Seddie Community
Blue/Magenta (Blue's Clues): If You Want To Go Really Young
I am sucker to the best friends to lover troupe.
Your first fanfic was about which couple?
It was probably an iCarly or Hannah Montana or Harry Potter or Camp Rock Fan Fiction
Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of?
I don't remember it it might have been Danny/Sam (Danny Phantom)
Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?
No, it is too much drama.
Did you used to have any NOTP or have one currently?
I don't really have NOTP. Also, long as it does not erase a queer character's identity. I have seen people seen ship Steve/Robin when Robin a gay, she does not like boys. No incest or no extreme age gaps. Though, there are topic things I like reading about but would never want to watch on the screen.
Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?
Donna/Harvey from Suits
Currently, do you have any OTPs?
Byler, Buddie, Tarlos
Is there any couple that, to this day, that you are extremely mad about not getting into?
Not that I can think of at the moment.
Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they're kind of interesting?
Not that I can think of.
Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
Stiles/Derek, Sterek (Teen Wolf)
I did not take it seriously it was mostly for fun. But it is pretty shitty they used queer-baiting and sterek to promote Teen Wolf. Their primary age teenager and young adult, Stiles and Derek were 15 and 25 when they met they should have not have been encouraging that kind of age gap to their young audience. Though you can not convince my Still was not bi-coded, bi people can still ended up with in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender/sex.
Sam & Freddy, Seddie (iCarly)
If Freddy was a girl and Sam was a boy, their friendship/relationship would have considered abusive and bullying. Boys hitting girls is a big no no.
What is your favorite crack ship?
I don't really have one.
What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?
Probably Mike/Will, Byler or Bucky/Steve, Stucky (Captain America) or Buck/Eddie, Buddie. Again I am a sucker for a good best friends to lovers story.
What do most of your ships have in common?
Best Friends To Lovers or Enemies To Lovers, Loud Outgoing Personality With Chill Sensitive Personality, Introvert & Extrovert, Height Difference, Repressed & Expressive, Curly Hair & Straight Hair
What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
Not that I can think of.

‘Blue Moon’, ‘Sad Sachs’ take top prizes at SF3 2019
Tumblr media
Most films forget to place the bomb under the table – very few manage three ticking simultaneously.
Set in the early hours of this New Zealand morning, small town service station attendant and owner Horace (Mark Hadlow) wiles away the hours until an event occurs with the potential to move any financial woes well out of the red. Soon followed by Darren (Jed Brophy), at least at this juncture the most pressing threat to Horace’s life, each find themselves counting down to 6AM and what may well be the last hours for our local.
Shot on an iPhone and enjoying its Australian premiere as the first ever SF3 Best Feature winner, the form has a supreme benefit in Blue Moon’s unusual context; permitting tight shots in, around and between the two leads and even from within the bounds of the station counter from which a traditional camera could not subsist. Too permitting Blue Moon’s gruelling shooting schedule, there’s a compulsive, immediate resonance to the abounding chemistry between the two leads here well captured by a device that allowed both uncommonly long takes and an unusual intimacy between the performers and those trying to capture that shared charisma.
The three time bombs deployed at different points and each serving their purpose of increasingly involving us, there’s an excellent stretch of the film where all are set to explode simultaneously and it’s a joy to see, as are a few of the elements seamlessly woven into the story doing well to pay off later. Moreover, this drama, and any, would fairly benefit with the active co-operation of the local arm of the law. Blue Moon’s Director Stefen Harris too being a front line Police Officer, there’s a strong presence and evident sense of investment from the region’s Police Force, adding a welcome dimension of realism to what was amazingly, and to the great credit of those involved, shot on a NZD $15,000 budget.
The September weekend also highlighted Australia’s best smartphone shorts, with 2019’s top prize going to Sad Sachs from local filmmaker Joel Perlgut alongside Best Screenplay, Cinematography Runner-Up, Best Actor & Actress. Exceptionally well shot and following the misadventures of three mishpocha on their way to a wedding, the tight dialogue and scripting at the outset, registering barely above satire for how Jewish friends and family might and would routinely interact, is indeed very funny.
Colder by Kenny Foo nabbed Best Cinematography for Bryan Fisher; a clever, contained shocker not for the too faint of heart which emerged alongside 2017’s Best Film winner Rearview by Ren Thackham as the best horror entry in now 5 years of SF3.
The Broadcast by Best Director winner and Russian filmmaker Daria Sviridenko distinguished itself as one of the few and still uncommon entries to cleverly integrate the necessary shooting format into the narrative as the phone’s perspective followed characters about their environment. They’re Listening by Rachael Belle Myers, winner of the WIFT Award for Best Female Creative, was a highlight of the night; a clean, light-hearted bottle comedy of sorts both, among more than one entry, serving as a cautionary tale as to our dependence on the very method with which each entry was executed and delivering the sort of shrewd, button ending to which most shorts aspire.
Fugitivos by Frank Benitez, likewise delivering a memorable conclusion, among the 15 finalists too did well to stand out with a crisply shot, character-driven road-movie skilfully crammed into just a few minutes.
It’s another strong year for SF3 which has only grown in reach, scope and diversity of entries and is only set to expand further with increasing notoriety, established and emerging filmmaker contributions and too the prospect of further feature entries to complement the recurring crop of Australia’s reliably best smartphone shorts.

About Laurent Dorian King Pt.4
Using this post as a base ! I originally reblogged it, but decided to make a whole post in order to add a few details about Laurent
Slytherin or Gryffindor or Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff
Lau was sorted into Slytherin House due to his high ambition and cunning. He did however almost made it to Gryffindor because of his bravery and impulsiveness
Chocolate Frog or Every Flavor Beans ?
He definitely prefers Chocolate Frog, and they come with cool cards instead of gross flavors. He does however eat a few beans with his friends as a dare
Herbology or Astronomy ?
Lau grew up in a farm and helped his mother with gardening. To him, anything linked to flowers and nature give him an immense sense of relief and security, as well as the impression to be home. He definitely prefers Herbology for these reasons.
Charms or Potions ?
While not being as talented as Penny Haywood, Lau has a knack for potions. He’s almost a natural at it, and while he hates Snape he does like brewing complicated potions (especially with Penny)
Thestral or Basilik ?
Lau has the ability to see Thestrals ever since he saw his mother succumb from a mysterious illness. While that he was freaked out the first time he saw them, he grew rather fond of them. Plus, the concept of a Basilik sort of creeps him out, but he’d rather die than admit it
Sectumsempra or Expelliarmus ?
Lau would definitely pull a Harry Potter if he didn’t know the effects of Sectumsempra. In danger ? Boom, use that spell you barely know, it might be able to save you. In general, though, he’d use Expelliarmus while fighting, especially if he knows exactly what Sectumsempra does
Hogsmeade or Gringotts ?
Definitely Hogsmeade, because Lau is addicted to Zonko’s Joke Shop. He’d much prefer going there than a huge wizarding bank
Death Eaters or Dumbledore’s Army ?
If Lau were in Harry’s year, he would have definitely joined the DA (and hate the hell out of Umbridge). He is well aware of Slytherin’s reputation, and he wants to prove that not all of them are doomed to be Dark Wizards.
Play Quidditch or Cheer a team on ?
I see Lau as the seeker of Slytherin’s Quidditch team. His older brother, Stefen, gave him his passion for Quidditch, and it has been a huge dream of Lau to play it once he can. Gets his blood pumping, and he loves the adrenaline burst.
Divination or Muggle Studies ?
Lau has no divinatory talent at all, and he’s a muggleborn, so he definitely prefers Muggle Studies. Trelawney also freaks him out since she keeps talking about his apparently horrible, bloody death
Apparition or Floo Powder ?
Apparition is cool, but Lau finds it much cooler travelling via the Floo Network. Don’t ask him why, he has no idea
Polyjuice Potion or Love Potion ?
Polyjuice, obviously. Think of all the pranks he could pull off
Bat-Bogey Hex or Episkey ?
Lau is a mess. A huge troublemaker. While he wants to become a Healer and definitely likes Episkey... sometimes a good hex to an enemy can be fun
Butterbeer or Cauldron Cakes ?
If there is one thing Lau loves as much as Quidditch, singing, dancing, duelling and gardening, it’s Butterbeer. He loves it so much
Diagon Alley or Knockturn Alley ?
While he visited Knockturn Alley with Jae a few times, he prefers the lively atmosphere of Diagon Alley

you specifically picked these to call me out didnt you
2. out of oz by gregory maguire, god bless you mr. rosewater by kurt vonnegut, the stand by stefen kang, slaughterhouse five also by vonnegut, world war z by max brooks. HM section of books i seriously considered for this: wicked by maguire, the martian by andy weir, homestuck which i probably would've included but i feel like it doesn't count, the storm before the storm by mike duncan, artemis fowl book 8
10. i know we all hate john green here but i really like paper towns. lots of it is fun (i always love anything with large chunks of explanation of preparation, this also explains my love for survival books like the martian or, when i was a kid, hatchet) and also i think it actually gets its themes pretty correct though i've heard the movie butchered the whole thing
12. no! i know you expected me to say catcher in the rye but i was never actually assigned it. i don't think i even finished a single book i was assigned in high school.
19. lord of the rings. the hobbit was O K but lotr was a misery to try to sit through. harry potter obviously has deep flaws but as an ex HP kid my relationship with it is more complicated. also could not get into any king book other than the stand

How Syrian refugees strain--and strengthen--Jordan
By Taylor Luck, CS Monitor, October 22, 2018
AMMAN AND MAFRAQ, JORDAN--Down to one janitor, four administrators, and a handful of teachers for more than 1,000 students, administrator Manal al Adwan says she is fighting “an uphill battle” each day to keep Al Hussein Secondary School running.
Children from 7 to 17 swarm the narrow hallways, whose purple paint has faded and chipped; groups of girls clog the stairways as young boys burst into classrooms mid-lesson.
The school used to have 700 students. It now also copes with 500 more--refugees from Syria--and Al Hussein has been forced onto a two-shift system, rotating Jordanian and Syrian students in and out in half-days to relieve the overcrowded classrooms.
With only one day off a week to set their syllabus, grade papers, and invent ways to educate Syrian children who have been out of school for years, teachers are exhausted.
“We spend every spare second to come up with ways to counsel traumatized children and teach students who don’t even know the letter A,” says Yasmeen Shalash, who teaches religious studies at Al Hussein. “We barely have time to see our own families.”
The strain shows in the school’s fabric too. Desks are cracked, chairs are broken, faucets in the bathrooms leak.
Al Hussein is typical. The influx of 1.3 million Syrians since 2012, including 130,000 students, has put Jordan’s cash-strapped schools, hospitals, housing, roads, and water networks under tremendous stress. And international donor fatigue is leaving the kingdom to face these challenges alone.
But despite cuts in services and increased competition for jobs, Jordanians have until now remained sympathetic to their neighbors’ plight, carrying the added burden with few complaints.
And in Al Hussein’s noisy hallways and crowded classrooms, something else is happening. Jordanian and Syrian students are bonding through sport, studies, and music. Students no longer ask each other “where are you from?”
“Teachers and students here treat us as if we are part of Jordan,” says Haya al Qarah, a 17-year-old at Al Hussein studying for her university entrance exam. Haya, like many girls who arrived from Syria’s rural south, comes from a family that expects girls to leave school at the 10th grade and marry.
But after five years in Jordan, where women’s education is part of the culture, Haya and her teachers helped change her family’s mind. The teenager is now set to become the first woman in her family to go on to university, where she hopes to study literature.
That success comes against the backdrop of considerable hardships for Jordanians, who face an 18.7 percent unemployment rate and a rising cost of living. Many say the influx of Syrians, who now make up about 15 percent of the population, is to blame.
For gynecologist Anwar Malkawi, the sudden influx of tens of thousands of Syrians into northern Jordan has meant three things: longer night shifts, longer day shifts, and more difficult cases. The Mafraq Women’s Hospital where he works near the Syrian border has seen its patient roster increase by 50 percent since refugees began arriving from Syria.
“You have to give priority to the urgent and difficult cases, which are most of them,” the harried Dr. Malkawi says between rounds. Treating pregnant Syrian women with complications due to physical trauma or malnutrition, infants with severe birth defects and other cases, Malkawi says he is working in “emergency mode.”
Jordanian public hospitals treat Syrians just as if they were Jordanians. Citizens of both countries can see a doctor and fill a prescription for a few dollars. But with hospital beds filled with Syrians--and surgery waiting lists stretching months into the future--Jordanians who cannot afford to go private are not being treated as well as they once were.
“Poor Jordanians have suffered a lot,” admits Dr. Mabrouk Saraheen, director of the Mafraq Women’s Hospital .
“Sometimes a doctor would have to tell a Jordanian that he could not admit his wife. They would shout, ‘I am a Jordanian, this is my right!’ “ Dr. Saraheen says, shaking his head. “But we had to give preference to the most severe cases and first cases we saw, no matter their nationality.”
Despite multiple reasons for resentment, it is difficult to detect envy in Jordanians’ voices when they recount their problems.
“May God heal these Syrians and help them,” says Um Khaled, a mother of four. Despite having previously been turned away for a check-up at Mafraq Women’s Hospital, she says she does not hold it against the Syrians.
“These people are coming from war, and we are blessed with security and stability. We should share our blessings,” she adds.
Where does this remarkable tolerance come from? Many Jordanians say their hospitality stems from their Bedouin roots and ancient desert customs, which dictate that a tribe must take in a weary traveler, no questions asked.
In the harsh desert plains where water is scarce, this hospitality can make the difference between life and death.
United Nations officials say Jordanian’s empathy is rooted in more recent history; refugees have played an integral part in the creation of modern Jordan, and many present-day Jordanians are themselves descendants of waves of Circassians, Armenians, Chechens, and Palestinians who fled to the kingdom in the first half of the 20th century.
“You see the solidarity from Jordanians as they have lived through or witnessed wars and displacement,” says Stefen Severe, UNHCR representative in Jordan. “They share the plight of their neighbors and they feel for them.”
However, aid agencies and UN officials warn that this hospitality has its limits, as they cut their aid to Jordan nearly by half in the face of budget crises brought on by donors losing interest in a conflict nearing its eighth year.
“We must not take this harmony and hospitality for granted,” Mr. Severe says.

NEW FILMMAKER CHALLENGES: FESTIVALS LAUNCH ISOLATION COMPS
Tumblr media
“The world has never been through a pandemic like this in our lifetime; we want to see what that world looks like from each individual’s perspective.”
Three new competitions have launched this week pegged at filmmakers who only want to thrive within newfound limitations. One arising from grassroots filmmaking collectives and another from independent cinemas, the third comes about from a Festival whose own unique creative parameters are more COVID-adaptable than most.
“With many parts of the world in lockdown right now we know that many people have had a lot of extra time on their hands (not true for everybody of course) and they’ve been looking for creative outlets,” continued Ali Crew, co-Founder with Angela Blake of Australia’s dedicated Smartphone Flick Fest SF3. “That’s why we’ve created the SF3 ISO category this year, to tap into that creative energy; by limiting the maximum time for the films to 3 minutes we hope the shorter time-frame will appeal and inspire even more people to pick up their phones and tell their unique stories during this time through film.”
“I anticipate the coronavirus could be a common theme, but our everyday lives have changed and the world in which we live is a very different place right now; with so many going through such hugely life changing experiences there are bound to be some incredible stories emerge and we can’t wait to see them.”
SF3 has now for years generated an uncommon mix of filmmaking talent, with the smartphone format both encouraging new and emerging creatives while too attracting seasoned filmmakers ready to experiment with shorter or less resource-intensive projects. Knowing that there is no expectation that it will necessarily look like it was shot on a $10,000 camera, because you can’t enter anything shot on a $10,000 camera, has broken down a barrier for many reticent to otherwise put themselves out there.
The prohibition on equipment beyond what’s already in most pockets has also permitted a greater breadth of filmmaking than one would typically see at Festivals from solo artists or those otherwise bounded by budget or access to either talent or higher-end tech. Now, with even the most experienced creatives lacking the lenses, casts, crews and funding, a category and indeed Festival specifically primed for filmmaking constraints is poised to engender a tide of entries from across the creative spectrum.
“I think the fact that our Festival is a platform for accessible and affordable filmmaking means there’s never been a better time to pull out your phone and make a film, whether it’s your first or it goes for 3 minutes, 20 minutes, or even a feature,” said Ali, with entries set to open tomorrow. “It’s the perfect creative outlet during these times, filmmakers can recruit their family members, use their homes as sets; the only limit is your imagination!”
With traditional movie-making on hold for the moment, some cinemas aren’t wasting any time either. Melbourne’s Lido, Cameo and Classic Cinemas alongside chain partner Ritz Cinemas, a favourite of the Sydney scene, have already launched and opened for entries the Isolation Film Festival. With a deadline extended to May 11 and seeking entries likewise no more than 3 minutes long and made within the confines of all self-isolation and social distancing measures, the prize winner and winner of the U18 category will each receive a year of free movies at their closest cinema (once the Ritz et al are allowed to reopen) and $1,000 and $500 respectively; with each entry set to nab a double pass.
“We’re hoping to capture this craziest of moments in time via film and highlight what unites us all in this fragile human race of ours,” said the Cinemas’ Owner Eddie Tamir. The chain, curators of the Jewish International Film Festival, Fantastic Film Festival Australia and the Children’s International Film Festival, will too be granting a CHIFF Festival pass to the U18 winner. Short-listed entries will also screen on the cinemas’ social media channels.
“So far, there have been films ranging from those that are shot really professionally, to films shot solely on smartphones, and even one or two stop-motion animation films,” said the Festival. “Thematically, we’re expecting that we’ll get a lot of submissions depicting the daily struggles and joys (if any?) of living in self-isolation, but we’re open to anything! We’re just as happy seeing films that are recreations of classic film scenes, or even completely original stories.”
No stranger to filmmaking limitations are Sydney’s filmmaking guerilla outfit Kino who, having run their latest short filmmaking night online, attracted numerous home-centric entries from filmmakers who absent traditional resources and outlets might not have had another forum. In conjunction with the Film Championships collective, which specifically arose to support and further filmmakers in the current environment, the crew have initiated a new COVID-conscious 48 hour filmmaking comp. Set to kick off tomorrow night, filmmakers are confined to the 2-day window, a theme and a 3-minute time limit. Creatives are also encouraged to take part in Kino #149, with the monthly film night set to take place this Monday.
“So many creatives are offering online content during this time of lockdown and there’s a hungry audience looking for new and unique content,” said Ali, set to launch the open SF3 categories alongside SF ISO with virtual screenings of SF3 2019’s feature smartphone winner ‘Blue Moon’ this weekend, commencing tomorrow. “After last year’s festival we had a lot of people express their disappointment at not being able to make it to the SF3 2019 Blue Moon screening and asking us where they might be able to see the film.”
“It hasn’t been online until now so we hope to bring an even bigger audience to the film this time around. It’s a wonderful film, shot on a smartphone over the course of one week on a budget of $12K NZD. We’re hosting the Online Premiere for the launch of SF3 2020 in the hope it will inspire others to make their own smartphone masterpiece, whether that be a short or even a full length feature“
Currently set for the second half of the year, SF3, alongside numerous other Festivals, too faces the prospect of heading online.
“If large public gatherings are still banned in October then we will take the Festival online; we didn’t want to be deterred by something that might or might not happen and decided to proceed with the Festival either way,” said Ali of a conundrum preoccupying Festival organisers with schedules set for months away. “We figured those involved will be very accommodating and understanding regardless of the outcome.”
“The online premiere of ‘Blue Moon’ will be a good test to gauge the interest and appetite for people looking for alternative online entertainment. Part of the thrill for filmmakers and audiences coming to SF3 is seeing films shot on small smartphones blown up on a huge cinema screen. They really do look amazing and generally exceed everyone’s expectations. That element will be lost in an online screening but at the end of the day it’s about bringing an audience to participants’ films and if we can still manage to do that then we’ll be really happy with the outcome.“

The NFL’s best remaining free agents, by position
Tumblr media
The new league year is here, but not every big name has been signed yet.
The official start to the new NFL league year is here, with a new collective bargaining agreement and all. It also comes at a time when the world is upended by the coronavirus pandemic, but other than changes to travel and locking down team facilities, NFL free agency is continuing unabated.
With the legal tampering period beginning on March 16, many deals were already agreed upon before free agency actually began. Some became official right at 4 p.m. ET when the new league year kicked off, while others have yet to be finalized until teams can conduct physicals. We’ve also seen a high number of franchise tags this offseason, with players like Dak Prescott and Chris Jones sticking with their teams.
Even after all that, there are a slew of free agents looking for a landing spot in 2020. Below, we’ll point you to the best available players at each position, with updates throughout free agency. Note that not every signing is included, namely for players at the bottom of the roster.
Quarterback
Signed: Kyle Allen, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Taysom Hill, Brian Hoyer, Case Keenum, Marcus Mariota, AJ McCarron, Colt McCoy, Sean Mannion, Nick Mullens, Nathan Peterman, Dak Prescott, Philip Rivers, Nate Sudfeld, Ryan Tannehill, P.J. Walker, Jameis Winston
Best available: Blake Bortles, Joe Flacco, Josh McCown, Matt Moore, Cam Newton, Kyle Sloter
A strong group of free agent quarterbacks has been quickly depleted, with Dak Prescott getting the franchise tag and Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater, and Marcus Mariota landing with new teams. Cam Newton’s reported release made him a late addition to the list and an intriguing option for teams that. missed out on the first wave of QB signings.
Running Back
Signed: Ameer Abdullah, Peyton Barber, Matt Breida, Kenyan Drake, Austin Ekeler, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Derrick Henry, Jordan Howard, Kareem Hunt, Dion Lewis, J.D. McKissic, DeAndre Washington, Jeff Wilson
Best available: Devonta Freeman, Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde, LeSean McCoy, Lamar Miller, Ty Montgomery, C.J. Prosise, Wendell Smallwood, Chris Thompson, Jonathan Williams
The value of the running back position continues to swing wildly, but that didn’t stop the Titans from putting the franchise tag on Derrick Henry. Other names like Austin Ekeler and Jordan Howard were quickly locked down, too.
Wide Receiver
Signed: Geronimo Allison, Nelson Agholor, Danny Amendola, Robby Anderson, Travis Benjamin, Kendrick Bourne, DeAndre Carter, Randall Cobb, Keelan Cole, Amari Cooper, Phillip Dorsett, Keelan Doss, Larry Fitzgerald, Devin Funchess, A.J. Green, David Moore, Zach Pascal, Breshad Perriman, Demarcus Robinson, Emmanuel Sanders, Tajae Sharpe, Laquon Treadwell
Best available: Taylor Gabriel, Rashard Higgins, Johnny Holton
We already saw two blockbuster wide receiver trades involving DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs. The Cowboys didn’t let Amari Cooper hit the open market, as they signed him to a lucrative long-term deal. The Bengals tagged A.J. Green, but that still left some compelling names on the market.
Tight End
Signed: Ross Dwelley, Eric Ebron, Tyler Eifert, Darren Fells, Jimmy Graham, Demetrius Harris, Hunter Henry, Jacob Hollister, Austin Hooper, Blake Jarwin, Marcedes Lewis, Greg Olsen, Quinton Spain, Levine Toilolo, Jason Witten
Best available: Charles Clay, Jordan Reed, Luke Stocker, Geoff Swaim, Delanie Walker
A weak draft class at tight end put a premium on the free agents who became available. Hunter Henry got the franchise tag, while Austin Hooper was quickly snatched up. Veterans Greg Olsen, Jimmy Graham and Jason Witten had no troubles landing with teams, either.
Offensive Line
Signed: Daniel Brunskill, Bryan Bulaga, Anthony Castonzo, Jack Conklin, Rashaad Coward, George Fant, Cam Fleming, Ereck Flowers, Marcus Gilbert Graham Glasgow, Joe Haeg, D.J. Humphries, Joey Hunt, Roderick Johnson, Ted Karras, Alex Lewis, Justin McCray, Connor McGovern, John Miller, Justin Murray, Cedric Ogbuehi, Andrus Peat, Ty Sambrailo, Brandon Scherff, Brandon Shell, Matt Skura, Xavier Su’a-Filo, Joe Thuney, Ricky Wagner, Andrew Whitworth, Elijah Wilkinson, Daryl Williams, Stefen Wisniewski, Andrew Wylie
Best available: Demar Dotson, Cordy Glenn, James Hurst, Ronald Leary, Jason Peters
The Colts held on to left tackle Anthony Castonzo with an extension. Guards Joe Thuney and Brandon Scherff would have been next to new deals, but both received the franchise tag fairly quickly. Still, there’s a lot of beef out there!
Edge
Signed: Mario Addison, Arik Armstead, Shaquil Barrett, Vic Beasley, Ronald Blair, Bud Dupree, Dante Fowler Jr., Rodney Gunter, Bruce Irvin, Quinton Jefferson, Matt Judon, Roy Robertson-Harris, Branden Jackson, Carl Nassib, Yannick Ngakoue, Robert Quinn, Stephen Weatherly, Leonard Williams, Derek Wolfe
Best available: Jadeveon Clowney, Markus Golden, Everson Griffen, Clay Matthews, Cameron Wake
Getting to the quarterback is becoming more and more important as crazy-athletic passers continue to enter the league. The 49ers gave Arik Armstead a huge extension, while the Jaguars were quick to tag Yannick Ngakoue.
Defensive Tackle
Signed: Beau Allen, Andrew Billings, Michael Brockers, Adam Butler, Maliek Collins, Tyeler Davison, Sheldon Day, Brandon Dunn, Javon Hargrave, Shelby Harris, Chris Jones, Linval Joseph, Star Lotulelei, Gerald McCoy, Michael Pierce, Dontari Poe, Mike Purcell, D.J. Reader, Jarran Reed, A’Shawn Robinson, Danny Shelton, Ndamukong Suh, Josh Tupou, Antwaun Woods
Best available: Damon Harrison, Margus Hunt, Brandon Mebane
Chris Jones got the franchise tag, which is unsurprising because of how important he was to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. After him, D.J. Reader got a huge contract with the Bengals, and the market is beginning to be pretty depleted.
Linebacker
Signed: Vince Biegel, Jon Bostic, De’Vondre Campbell, Jamie Collins, Brandon Copeland, Thomas Davis, Kyler Fackrell, Leonard Floyd, B.J. Goodson, Jordan Jenkins, Devon Kennard, Christian Kirksey, Nick Kwiatkoski, Sean Lee, Cory Littleton, Blake Martinez, David Mayo, Kevin Minter, Nicholas Morrow, Denzel Perryman, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Reggie Ragland, Elandon Roberts, Joe Schobert, Danny Trevathan, Kyle Van Noy, Nick Vigil, Tahir Whitehead, Kyle Wilber, Eric Wilson
Best available: Mark Barron, Anthony Chickillo, Kareem Martin, Alec Ogletree
There are a lot of tackling machines available this year, even after guys like Jamie Collins, Cory Littleton, Thomas Davis, and Joe Schobert got big deals elsewhere.
Cornerback
Signed: Mackensie Alexander, James Bradberry, Bashaud Breeland, Anthony Brown, Ronald Darby, Michael Davis, Pierre Desir, Grant Haley, Vernon Hargreaves, Chris Harris Jr., Byron Jones, Nevin Lawson, Jalen Mills, Emmanuel Moseley, Brian Poole, Xavier Rhodes, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Bradley Roby, Jimmy Smith, Desmond Trufant, Levi Wallace, Trae Waynes
Best available: Prince Amukamara, Eli Apple, Darqueze Dennard, Johnathan Joseph, Logan Ryan
It’s unbelievable that someone as good as Byron Jones hit the open market, and he wasn’t there for long, signing a megadeal with the Dolphins. There are still quite a few corners worth kicking the tires on, however.
Safety
Signed: Vonn Bell, Tre Boston, Chuck Clark, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Anthony Harris, Jeff Heath, Eddie Jackson, Malcolm Jenkins, Karl Joseph, Devin McCourty, Jordan Poyer, Damarious Randall, Andrew Sendejo, Justin Simmons, Jimmie Ward
Best available: Morgan Burnett, Blake Countess, A.J. Howard, Tony Jefferson, Colin Jones, Reshad Jones, Eric Reid
Several big names at safety, like Devin McCourty, Anthony Harris, and Jimmie Ward, were scheduled to be free agents. Unfortunately for teams in need of safety help, all three are staying put, leaving the next tier of safeties for the rest of the league.

Worldbuilding Exchange 2020
Hey there, friend! So, first of all, an apology: this letter is very late and I’m sorry to have left it as a placeholder for so long.  If you’ve already started on something, that’s great—feel free to ignore this.  But if, like me, you’re still not sure what exactly to do for your assignment—this will hopefully be of some help.
Other exchange letters can be found here.
Some of the segments of this letter are longer than others.  Please don’t feel bad if we matched on a shorter one, or hemmed in if we matched on a longer one; I like them all differently but equally and as always, optional details are optional.
  General DNW
Rape/non/dub-con; non-canonical major character death; smut/graphic sex scenes; heavy angst; hurt no comfort; graphic depictions of deliberate and methodical self-harm*; graphic depictions of suicide; gore; heavy gender dysphoria; grimdark; complete downer endings; character bashing; incest; cringe comedy; a/b/o; mpreg; full setting AUs (canon-divergence is fine); graphic eye trauma; graphic and/or permanent hand trauma (unless the setting can provide a more-or-less fully functional prosthetic or equivalent); issuefic.
*I don’t include things like, say, punching a wall in a fit of emotion under this. however, something like cutting would not be appreciated.

Summary
Generally I’d prefer not to have a heavy focus on ships, but if they’re going to be there I’d rather they be canon.
In Wolf Speaker, it’s a bit of a plot point that Numair can’t heal at all; but in Tempests and Slaughter he’s got considerable talent as a user of learned healing magic.  Alanna has a healing gift, and doesn’t need to learn detailed information about the workings of the human body in order to use it; or at least we aren’t shown such things.  I’m interested in the similarities and differences there, including whatever it is about learned healing magic that makes it so a person can just completely lose the ability to use it—personally I suspect it has to do with power, and having too much of it, but who knows?
Kitchen magic!  How does that work?  What does Varice do, exactly, to food that changes it/the process of creating it?  Is it commonly looked down upon, or is it unusual that Varice’s family doesn’t really want her to pursue it?
I’ve always been rather fond of the spies and subterfuge of the Tortall world, and anything about any of the spy characters I’ve asked for—or about any of their underlings—would be great here.
The Sight is relatively weird, imo, as Tortall magic goes; it’s got its own particular rules and restrictions, and I think it would be interesting to see it further explored.

So, if you offered the Arendellian mathematical understanding, I’m somewhat presuming that you had something in mind for it already, and I’m interested to see what that is!
Otherwise, I really like the magic systems in the films and their interactions with the characters and the world’s other nonmagical elements, and I’d really enjoy an exploration of that.
As a side note: I’d rather not have a story focused on non-canon ships here.  I know that Elsa/Honeymaren is fairly popular, and of course it’s not in my dnws and this letter is incredibly late, but while I don’t particularly dislike the ship I’m also not at all invested in it.

One of the things I like most about the Harry Potter books is how they give the impression of being set in a larger world; sometimes, it’s a bit of a whimsical world that doesn’t make perfect sense, but it doesn’t seem like the world the stories are set in is just a bubble; it feels like a small part of a bigger world, and I’d really enjoy something expanding into that—I mean.  Obviously.  I’m participating in this exchange, after all.
I don’t really have any broader things to say here; I think the worldbuilding areas are all enough of prompts in and of themselves.
As a side note: for the character tags which specify “wizard” and “witch”, I don’t care what gender a character of that type might be.

Honestly, I put the time limitations in because this is the era I’ve read the most in; it’s a suggestion, not a hard and fast rule, especially since some of the prompts I’ve given could easily spill outside of its bounds.
But it just seems like a time of such intense change—the old system of Herald-Mages more or less collapses and everything changes there, and not long after the Heralds switch to the Collegium system, and all the while there are non-Herald non-mages just going about their lives as they always have.

    Star Wars Section
The quintessential space opera; I love this universe and its characters and ugh it is great.  I’m generally less fond of TLJ than the movies that came before it (though I am… far less salty about it than I was two years ago) and I enjoyed TRoS more although it’s still a bit of a mess.  But that should by no means stop you from integrating elements into your fic from those films.
Generally, about Star Wars, I’m going to say that I’d like for writings to fit into one of the three categories; that being said, feel free to bring in ideas from other sections, especially when there’s similar ideas across subcategories!

I still am at a bit of a loss for what to say here, honestly.  I will say that I’m not the one who nominated “Boy at fathier racetrack”.  I interpreted that as being the Force-sensitive child we saw at the end of the film, but of course it could be any of the children we see.

Obviously, this is the New EU as a whole, but I will say that my greatest familiarity lies with the animated series: I’ve seen all of The Clone Wars and Rebels by now (and I hadn’t seen all of Rebels when I signed up; feel free to include other Rebels characters, I can’t be spoiled anymore since I’ve uh seen it all).
Which isn’t to say don’t include other things!  Include whatever you want.  But if it’s not at all related to the animated series or the movies, you should know that I may be lacking some context.
…for possibly the One And Only specific prompt I have in this entire letter, and this shouldn’t be taken as an indication that I like the idea better than anything you may come up with; it’s just all that’s coming to mind right now and this letter desperately needs to be finished—I’d definitely be interested in combining Hera with legends and folklore about the Jedi Order, and have something set around the time of A New Dawn, and how that colors her interactions with Kanan.  That would be nice.  But like I said it’s just one idea please do not feel bound by it.
Thank you ever so much for writing for me!

10 free agents the Eagles could sign now that they don’t have to worry about the compensatory pick formula
A new wave of NFL free agency is expected to pick up this week since signings will no longer count against a team’s compensatory pick formula starting at midnight (12:00:00 on May 8). The Eagles are among the teams who have been biding their time while playing the comp pick game.
Philadelphia already has one of the most talented rosters in the league but there’s always room for improvement. Not to mention Howie Rosman has about $22 million in cap space to work with. Here’s a look at some targets who could make sense for the Eagles.
DE EZEKIEL ANSAH
Ansah is one of the most intriguing free agents remaining on the market. He led the NFL in pressure rate last year with 20 pressures in 101 pass rush snaps, per Pro Football Focus. Ansah’s market has evolved slowly as he’s recovery from shoulder surgery.
Here’s what I wrote about Ansah as a possible Eagles target earlier this year:
I can’t help but wonder if Ansah might be one of the top free agent pass rushers the Eagles are rumored to be targeting. Jim Schwartz’s Lions selected Ansah with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. There are some issues with Ansah that could potentially drive down his price to make him more affordable. He’s missed 14 games in his past three seasons and he finished with sacks totals of two in 2016 and four in 2018. Spotrac projects Ansah’s next contract to be less lucrative ($13.5 million average annual) than what Brandon Graham’s next pay day will be ($15.4 million average annual). Maybe Schwartz feels like Ansah is the answer for the Eagles. (*booing ensues*)
Ansah would be a great addition to the Eagles’ defensive end rotation, which is looking thin if Chris Long doesn’t return. For a team that likes to heavily rotate their pass rushers, the Eagles’ depth really drops off after the trio of Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, and Vinny Curry. If one of those three guys gets hurt, the Eagles are suddenly looking at one of Josh Sweat, Shareef Miller, Daeshon Hall, or Joe Ostman being a top three defensive end on the team. That’s not ideal.
Signing Ansah makes a lot of sense for the Eagles but one would imagine he’ll be looking for a bigger role than what Philly will be offering him. Ansah has already taken some free agent visits and the Eagles seemingly haven’t been among those trips.
It’d be nice if Schwartz could convince his former draft pick to spend a year with the Eagles before allowing Ziggy to test the market again in 2020. Just not counting on it to happen.
DE DERRICK MORGAN
Morgan might be a more realistic signing for the Eagles. The 30-year-old has previously made it sound like he’s moving on from Tennessee. Morgan wouldn’t be some high impact player like Ansah but he could give the Eagles more depth.
The 2010 first-round pick was selected three spots after Graham at No. 16 overall. He’s had a solid nine-year career with the Titans. Morgan’s coming off a down year with only 0.5 sacks in 2018 but he had sack totals of nine and 7.5 in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
Morgan’s a Lancaster, PA native and attended high school in Coatesville. Maybe he has interest in moving back closer to home.
DE PERNELL MCPHEE
I wrote about McPhee as a potential Eagles target earlier this offseason:
The Ravens selected McPhee with a fifth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He then signed with the Bears during the same offseason that Joe Douglas left Baltimore to join Chicago’s front office. McPhee could fit in the Eagles’ defensive end rotation if they’re looking for a veteran.
McPhee also overlapped with Fletcher Cox at Mississippi State, for what it’s worth.
McPhee didn’t log a sack in limited playing time with Washington last year but he did rank 59th out of 173 edge rushers in pressure rate. He had eight quarterback hits and seven hurries in 203 defensive snaps, per PFF.
DE WILLIAM HAYES
Hayes was selected by the Titans in the fourth-round of the 2008 NFL Draft while Schwartz was Tennessee’s defensive coordinator. Hayes played for former Dolphins defensive coordinator and current Eagles defensive special assistant Matt Burke in Miami over the past two seasons.
Hayes, who recently turned 34, is coming off an ACL injury that he suffered in Week 3 last year. That’s not great. The upside is that Hayes ranked 28th out of 119 edge rushers in pressure back in 2017.
OG JEFF ALLEN
Allen is a player the Eagles were rumored to be interested in back in 2016. Philadelphia decided to sign Brandon Brooks away from the Texans instead. It’s safe to say the Eagles got that decision right. Brooks has been a Pro Bowl guard for the Eagles while Allen struggled to play well and dealt with injury issues after signing with Houston.
But with Brooks now recovering from an Achilles injury, the Eagles could afford to add some interior offensive line depth. Signing the 29-year-old Allen makes a lot of sense. He’s versatile and has experience playing at tackle, guard, and center. He’s also known for being a good locker room guy.
The Eagles have familiarity with Allen since he played for the Chiefs while Pederson was Kansas City’s offensive coordinator from 2013 through 2015.
OG STEFEN WISNIEWSKI
Back in March, the Eagles declined Wisniewski’s option for the 2019 season. He’s failed to receive strong interest on the market to this point but maybe they’ll change with teams no longer having to worry about him impacting their comp pick formula.
I’d think Wis doesn’t have a ton of interest in returning to the Eagles because he feels like he should be starting. He said that he felt like his 2018 benching wasn’t performance-related.
If Wis sees his market dry up, though, he could decide the Eagles are ultimately his best option in 2019. There could be an avenue to playing time, anyway, with Brooks recovering from injury and Isaac Seumalo subject to struggles.
If I was the Eagles, I’d consider placing the rarely-used May 7 tender (formerly the June 1 tender) on Wis. In short, this would allow the Eagles to 1) bring Wis back at a reasonable cost or 2) allow him to still count towards the Eagles’ comp pick formula if he signs with another team.
RB JAY AJAYI
Wait. Why is Ajayi making this list? The Eagles already have Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, Corey Clement, Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood, Boston Scott, and Donnel Pumphrey. And the Eagles already gave out Ajayi’s No. 26 jersey to Sanders.
I’m not including Ajayi here because I think he’ll be on Philadelphia’s roster in 2019. I’m including him because I think they could offer him a May 7 tender in order to try to get a comp pick for him, similar to what I just talked about with Wis.
Over The Cap comp picks expert Nick Korte recently talked about this possibility:
CB KAYVON WEBSTER
From earlier this offseason:
I wrote about Webster as a potential target back in 2017: “Webster was a third round pick by the Broncos in the 2013 NFL Draft. He overlapped with Undlin in Denver from 2013-2014. Webster had his most productive season as a rookie when he had one interception, 10 passes defensed, one forced fumble, and 37 tackles. Webster’s playing time decreased ever since then because he’s been stuck behind big money corners Aqib Talib and Chris Harris Jr. along with 2014 first-round pick Bradley Roby. Broncos writers identify Webster as a very good special teams player and suggest he could be looking for a bigger role on a new team. The 26-year-old defensive back might be an interesting buy-low option for the Eagles.” Webster was reportedly set for a free agent visit with the Eagles that offseason but he signed with the Rams instead. Webster only played two games for the Texans in 2018 after dealing with injuries. The Eagles have a lot of talented youth at corner but it might be nice to add an inexpensive veteran like Webster, who can serve as an experienced backup and play special teams.
Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby are still recovering from significant injuries suffered in 2018. If they’re at risk of missing games early in 2019, it wouldn’t hurt to add a veteran like Webster.
The oldest corner on the Eagles’ roster is Josh Hawkins, who is 26. Webster is 28.
S GLOVER QUIN
I think the Eagles might be done adding safeties. Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod are the projected starters, though McLeod is coming off ACL/MCL recovery. The Eagles signed Andrew Sendejo to seemingly be their third safety. The Eagles also recently claimed Blake Countess and his $2 million salary off waivers.
There’s been talk (including from myself) that the Eagles could cut Sendejo to save a fourth-round comp pick and $800,000. I’m not going to dismiss that possibility. But it might not have to come to that. If the Eagles use the May 7 tender to get Wis and/or Ajayi to count TOWARDS their comp pick formula, they won’t need to cut Sendejo to save a fourth-round pick. So we’ll see how that goes.
If the Eagles do want to add a safety who doesn’t impact their comp pick formula, Quin could be of interest as the team’s new version of Corey Graham. The Lions originally signed Quin while Schwartz was Detroit’s head coach. At 33, Quin’s best days are behind him. It’s also not like the Eagles have needed to wait to sign him since he was cut by the Lions earlier this offseason. Still, I’ll mention him here due to the Sendejo comp pick consideration.
I’ll also give honorable mention to Tre Boston, who is still on the market for some reason. I’m guessing he’s hoping for a bigger role than Philly could reasonably offer.
RB DARREN SPROLES
Sproles previously said he was going to make his decision to retire or not in May. Well, it’s May now. The feeling here is that Sproles would like to play in 2019. I also feel like Pederson would like to have Sproles back. But I’m not so sure the front office will be eager to pay a 36-year-old running back who’s only been able to play in nine games the past two years due to injury.
...
Who do you want the Eagles to sign?

Your Tuesday Morning Roundup
I can’t believe the Flyers are still in the playoff hunt.
They got even closer last night thanks to a 3-2 win over the lowly Ottawa Senators. Oskar Lindblom, Michael Raffl, and Scott Laughton scored all of Philadelphia’s three goals in the second period. Brian Elliott stopped 20 of 22 shots and held off a late Senators rally. Carter Hart was the backup for the game.
The race for the first wild card got a little tough with Carolina and Pittsburgh now four points up on the second wild card team. But the Flyers are now three points away from a playoff spot:
The Flyers have a tough 13 games to end their season. 12 of them are against teams that are in or around playoff contention, while the other is the Rangers. Chicago is in a similar boat with the Flyers in terms of being on the outside but looking to get in.
Philly’s first game in that stretch of 13 is home against Washington on Thursday. It’ll be the second game of Jake Voracek’s suspension, unless his appeal makes him eligible to play then.
The Roundup:
Legal tampering began in the NFL, and the Eagles were very involved.
Technically, the Eagles made one unofficial free agent signing by bringing in Malik Jackson. A good replacement for Tim Jernigan. But the most popular move of the day was the return of DeSean Jackson. He’s going to be a damn good deep threat for the Eagles and Carson Wentz.
The Birds also continued to keep some of their own by inking Jason Peters to a one-year deal and placing a second-round tender on Nate Sudfeld.
Elsewhere, Stefen Wisniewski won’t have his option picked up and Nick Foles will sign with Jacksonville for a ton of money.
Bryce Harper played right field for the first time as a Phillie in an 8-2 loss to the Rays. He struck out and walked. Andrew McCutchen and Jean Segura hit back-to-back homers.
Harper has brought in ratings and is also going to have a catch with Mac.
As for the guy that Mac used to write to, Chase Utley’s getting his own bobblehead for his retirement ceremony.
Joel Embiid returned from being sidelined for over two weeks with a huge performance Sunday in a 106-89 win over the Pacers. He also said the communication between the front office and medical staff is much better.
The Sixers host Cleveland tonight at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Boban Marjanovic will return, while Jimmy Butler will sit to rest.
Bobi’s sidekick, Tobias Harris, previously identified Philly as a destination before the trade to the Sixers.
Kendall Jenner has a personalized Sixers jersey.
In other sports news, Russell Westbrook threatened a fan and his wife in Utah.
Conor McGregor was arrested and then released on bail in Miami Beach.
Wofford and Iona punched their tickets to the NCAA Tournament.
Landon Collins, Tyrann Mathieu, and CJ Mosley all signed with new teams.
Tony Bruno and Harry Mayes are reuniting.
In the news, could a Philly-to-Pittsburgh hyperloop be possible?
R Kelly says his “spirit” told him to talk to Gayle King and thus embarrass himself on national TV.
