A volcano had erupted on Stefán Karl's birthday

Yesterday's post was about a translation and archival to a Facebook that Steinunn Ólína made on the occuasion, you can read it here!

In the post, she mentioned asking for an eruption for the occuasion from him and a few hours later a dormant volcano erupted in Iceland!

Earlier today, actress Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir published a heartfelt post on her Facebook page where she remembers her husband, Stefán Karl Stefánsson, who died after a difficult battle with cancer in 2018. Stefán Karl would have turned 48 today.

Stefán Karl's battle with malignant bile duct cancer lasted for two years, the couple talked openly about the illness. Stefán Karl himself was a great fighter against bullying, since he founded, among other things, the organization Rainbow Children.

Stefán Karl was best known for his portrayal of the unlikable Robbie Rotten, who lived a good life within the walls of the children's story about Lazytown by Magnús Scheving, and he graduated from the Icelandic Drama School in 1999.

Together, Stefán Karl and Steinunn Ólína had two children, but before that she had two daughters. It is safe to say that the nation has cried with Steinunna Ólína at the death of Stefán Karl, who was a perennial source of joy. In the post she published this morning, she says:

It seems that Stefán Karl made Steinunn Ólína's wish come true, because a few hours later, as is now well known, a volcanic eruption began near Reykjanes. Subsequently, Steinunn Ólína published a new post on Facebook where she simply writes: "Thank you my Stebbi!"

Stefán Karl Stefánsson(Robbie Rotten) passed away 3 days ago. I'm really sorry, I didn't post it earlier, just I hadn't the possibility.

When I was younger I was watching the show "Lazy town" & I have a lot of memories. My favourite characters were Robbie and Sportacus!!! Even my parents remember his & of course this show.

When I found out about it, it was a chock for me. And my friends, which knew about this show, also were in shock.

Stefán Karl was really amazing and talented human. This is incalculable loss for all, who knew about his. Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir was his wife, & they had three daughters and one son.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016 year. In August of 2017 he told about his recovery, but then said that, although metastases were successfully removed, the disease didn't recede.

However, in March 2018 Stefán Karl was diagnosed with an inoperable cholangiocarcinoma, and he received a chemotherapy course. In April, the actor refused further adjuvant therapy.

According to the representative of the family, the artist died in an environment of relatives and friends on August 21, 2018.

I hope that people will remember his.
