I ate my sister's leftover spaghetti and blamed it on my stepdad's dog but I didn't know that apparently his dog has a habit of eating human food and the last time he ate something that made him super sick and he had to get his stomach pumped and anyway apparently tomato sauce and garlic and onions is very bad for dogs which I did not know and the container that had my sister's spaghetti was really deep so my sister and stepdad thought his dog ate a lb of spaghetti and rushed him to the animal ER and I had no idea this was evening happening but it turns out that his dog was actually in a lot of pain but it was because he couldn't pass gas cause of something with his stomach so it kind of worked out in the end and my stepdog's dad is doing a lot better now

Well, I'm glad the dog's okay .....

My stepdog Jade died yesterday. She was my favorite dog I've ever met, and as much of a person as any human around. She destroyed every toy she could till she got a baby yoda, and then she kept it, barely tattered at all and clearly beloved right up till she died. Sometimes she would set it down and go lay a ways away and just look at it.

She had an eternal puppyhood, never grew into her huge ears, and only began to lose her agility and playfullness right at the end of her life.

Aside from her warning barks she was a quiet dog, but she talked to me with awo wo wo wos that she didn't do for anyone else. The last time I visited, her humans were putting up a yurt to live in. Jade loved the woods and she lived in a yurt in the woods for almost two years when she was young - I lived in that yurt with her too, for almost a year. During my visit to her new home in the Wyoming forests, she would gently touch me with her nose and lead me around to see all her favorite things at the new property she'd moved onto.

This is my tree. Here is my den under the bed in the wall tent. Have you seen the side of elk hanging in the shed (hint hint)? And here is my new yurt.

I found her several times in the middle of the yurt platform, standing still in the middle of the partially-erected yurt, gazing at the framework. It was clear she recognized the lattice and rafters as the bones of her most favorite and preferred living situation. The last photos I saw of her were inside the yurt, lying on a fur in front of the woodstove, looking supremely satisfied.

She was buried with her beloved baby yoda.
