STRAIGHT OUT OF LUZ’S FANTASIES SHE GOT TO PLAY THEM OUT! She earned and WON them as Eda said she still could, even if it wasn’t automatic as a ‘chosen one’ or whatever! Luz is freaking Prince Charming or Romeo, asking Rapunzel to let down her hair. Flowery and romantic like her Azura books, Luz is finally a classic fairy tale hero! Amity as a silhouette is like a princess getting ready for the ball, and/or her prince!
Subversions are fun but I appreciate how this show also recognizes the validity of a good old-fashioned, straightforward take on things! It’s cliche for hets but queers definitely deserve it as a treat because they’ve never gotten it to begin with, and that DOES make a difference! They’re a forbidden love and don’t care, especially not when testing that bond against Odalia!
Luz looked so excited and relieved... She was prepping and psyching herself up like she was planning a kiss to begin with, with that perfect romantic entrance! With those rising plants Luz was like a prince rescuing her princess from the evil lord/stepmother from the tower and I wonder if she noticed the resemblance? Either way Amity IS her dream princess to Luz! HER PRINCESS IS IN A CASTLE BUT NOT FOR LONG!
And on Amity’s end that was a stunning appearance, I can’t blame her for taking that kiss when it’s almost the end of the world anyway; Like Luz she doesn’t need to notice the fantasy to see her girlfriend as her beloved prince! Her savior, literally now but figuratively, as Luz opened Amity’s eyes and saved her from the unhappy path she was bound for; She owes it all to her and is ready to be sweeped away by the rescuer she wished for! I love this entire scene so much...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God... The Plant Glyph really is THE Lumity spell, huh??? Learned during Enchanting Grom Fright and all that. Hell even Willow, who embodies plants, acted as a connecting point between Luz and Amity that upon her resolution, led directly into the events of Grom! And it makes sense too with all of the flowers, nurturing, and growth associated... Raine and Eda would know, wouldn’t they?
Tumblr media
Luz wanted to be a hero, and Amity wanted someone who would save her... They both got it and the girl!

Little details about TOH that live rent free in my mind, part one:
Steve and Lilith are friends. Like not just subordinate who cares way too much and superior who cares way too little friends like we all originally thought, they’re actually friends.
And honestly I find them so incredibly wholesome. So here are some Steve and Lilith headcanons for your reading pleasure!
Steve wasn’t actually a high ranking officer* in the Emperor’s Coven, just a normal scout. However, he was on one of Lilith’s squads in her early days as a captain, and she quickly took a liking to him. When she eventually got promoted to coven head, everyone found it strange that she always insisted on this specific soldier being in her squad. However, no one could tell her otherwise, and so where Lilith went for field work, Steve went.
Steve was one of the few people who could make Lilith laugh. Like really laugh, not just the polite chuckle she forced when out in public. He was RIDICULOUSLY proud of it too.
Many members of the coven were convinced Steve and Lilith were having an affair. Lilith heard the rumors and was mortified. Steve was completely oblivious until years later, when Eda straight up asked him if he was sleeping with her sister.
Lilith and Steve would take turns sleeping on long field missions, mostly because Lilith didn’t trust anyone else to watch her back and Steve just wanted her to get some sleep.
One year for Titan’s Day*, knowing how much he missed his Palisman, Lilith got Steve a puppy to accompany him on missions. Steve got incredibly emotional, much to her intitial alarm, and hugged her so hard she could swear she felt her back pop.
Since members of the EC couldn’t visit their families for holidays, Steve would always organize a large in-house celebration. Lilith often rolled her eyes at it, but still made sure he had the proper clearances in order to do so.
Steve’s family would visit him regularly for dinners, to attend coven events, and watch ceremonies. When he eventually noticed Lilith’s didn’t, he insisted on including her in his. She protested at first, embarrassed, but Steve’s parents immediately embraced her as one of their own. Once, upon hearing of one of their successful treasure-hunting missions, Steve’s stepmother exclaimed how proud she was of the two of them. Steve then had to explain why his boss started to cry in the middle of dinner.
Steve affectionately continued calling Lilith ‘boss’ or ‘chief’, or other nicknames of the sort even after she defected (mostly just to bug her a little).
Lilith was fairly nervous that Steve would hate her for defecting from the coven. Her fears were rectified when she opened her scroll to find 67 messages from Steve, all frantically asking if she was ok and what happened.
I just…I love them, your honor. I love their friendship.

TOH X THE NEAR WITCH
So The Near Witch by VE Schwab was not my favorite book last May but oh boy did it give me some idea.
It’s a story of a town called Near (in this draft, Gravesfield) a stranger appeared in town, followed by a disappearance of a young boy
Characters
The characters might not be the same in the book because I’m trying to find a way to fit them with the TOH counterpart so I may change their personality, age, and relationship to each character
Luz Noceda (Lexi Howard): 14 years old tomboyish girl who lived with her mom, Camila, and her little sister, Vee, at the edge of Gravefield because her father was a hunter. Luz was very close with her father, Manny, who died a few years ago. Her father used to tell the story of his adventure as a The Village Protector and how witches used to live among humans in Gravesfield
Amity (Cole): a mysterious stranger who arrived at Gravesfield. She was a witch who can manipulate the wind. Her bio mother was a witch but she fled after Amity was born so she only lived with her father, Alador, and stepmother, Odalia, who were both humans. But after her father died due to sickness and a big accident that happened in her hometown, she decided to flee to Gravesfield
Vee Noceda (Wren Howard): Luz’s 10 years old sister. She didn’t remember much about her father but Luz always told some stories about him and his adventures
Camila Noceda (Mrs. Howard): Camila was not herself after her husband died. Her grief caused her to grow more quiet although she desperately wanted to reconnect with her daughters
Caleb Wittebane (Otto Howard): Hunter’s father and Luz’s surrogate uncle since Manny and Caleb were very close with each other, both of them were hunters. After Manny died, Caleb gained Manny’s old title as The Village Protector. He was VERY protective of Luz and Vee especially after Manny died. That caused Luz to be very distant from him
Hunter Wittebane (Tyler Ward): Luz’s 16 years old cousin who used to be very close with her. His ambition to be the next Village Protector made him follow his father’s path and never wanted to fail him (although his father never expected anything like that from him) this caused Hunter to be protective of his cousins and distant Hunter and Luz’s relationship
Philip Wittebane (Bo but mostly original character): Philip was Caleb’s brother and Hunter’s uncle. He disliked Caleb’s fondness towards The Nocedas especially Luz due to her odd personality and the way she dressed. He was one of the council who may or might not be the reason behind the disappearance of witches around Gravesfield
Eda and Lilith Clawthorne (Magda and Dreska Throne): both were witches who lived at the edge of town, not far from The Nocedas and The Wittebanes. None of them knew they were witches except Luz and Manny. The two were very secretive to the other town folks. Eda was more open to other people while Lilith was more strict and wouldn’t let anyone inside their house. Their house was surrounded by a garden that’s usually maintained by Eda
Willow (Helena Drake): Luz’s childhood best friend and the only person who could connect to her (aside from Vee). Willow grew into the more popular crowd but still maintain her relationship with Luz.
Gus (Edgar Drake): Willow’s 10 years old neighbor who was very close to her. He was also Vee’s best friend. The story started when he went missing and the stranger, Amity, was assumed to be the cause of it. Since his father was one of the town’s councils, it triggered the massive search in town
I’ll put King along the way don’t worry. We need more kids to go missing

Owl House Cinderella?
What are your thoughts on an Owl House Cinderella story with Amity Blight as Cinderella, Luz Noceda as the Prince, Eda Clawthorne as the Fairy Godmother, and Odalia or Emperor Belos as the Evil Stepmother?

Discussion of The Owl House leaks.
The Collector turns everyone into puppets.
Belos takes over Raine's puppet body.
I really hope Raine is not killed off to make way for Eda/Camilla. That is too easy a solution to the "who will Luz stay with problem."
Plus the whole purpose of "found family" is that it has nothing to do with blood or marriage. Eda would be a stepmother instead of a chosen mother.

Notes from The Tale of Prince Steven of Avalon
Tumblr media
OKAY so I decided that instead of going back and editing this fic's notes and risking nobody seeing the relevant info that I desperately want to share, I'd stick it here! (I'm calling it the Ficcyclopedia™.) SO! If you have any interest at all in the inner workings of my brain in regards to this fic, it's all below the cut. 💜
In the first chapter, these are the relevant tidbits, neatly sorted because my OCD said to.
Places:
The original fairy tale takes place in Ireland, and I kept that the same, save for the name of the kingdom. Avalon is a play on the land Tír na nÓg, which is the mystical "otherworld" in Irish mythology. Avalon is just another name for "paradise" or afterlife, basically. I wanted something pronounceable, so this happened. It also is really fitting with Steve's character (both in this story and in MCU canon), in my opinion.
I basically decided to run with the whole "Bucky is probably Jewish" Fanon thing, and decided his mother was possibly (in my head most likely) from Poland. Thus, a lot of locations and names and things stemmed from Polish culture and mythology. So, bouncing off of the whole "Avalon-is-based-on-Irish-afterlife" thing, I named Bucky's homeland Verais (Vehr-eye) as the phonological equivalent of Wyraj, which is the afterlife in Polish mythology. And yes, it is spelled a little prettier than just phonetics, because I said so.
In conjunction with the Verais thing, I named the people there the Lechian people, which is for Lechia, an ancient name for Poland.
"The Land of Ice" is a pretty obvious (to me) way of saying Russia.
Gidra is Russian for Hydra. Do with that what you will. ;)
Names/Creatures:
The name Drew means "from druids" which is a play on the fact that in the original story of Conn-Eda, the prince's stepmother was the daughter of a druid. I wanted to include that little thing, even if it wasn't exactly the same.
His last name, Balcombe, means "person who casts an evil eye." It's also a surname that's common to the Isle of Man, which is the place I based Drew's homeland off of.
In the original fairy tale, the supernatural hound is called Samer. Samer means lots of different things in many languages, but my favorite was the Sanskrit for "air" or "wind." I turned it kind of Polish and gave the hound the name Zenon, which is derived from the Greek god Zeus. And Zeus, as we know, is the god of the skies or whatever. ;P This one is a bit more convoluted, but I think it still works.
Even though "Alkonost" seems like a made-up word, IT'S NOT!!! It's the English pronunciation of Алконост. The Alkonost is a woman-headed bird in Russian mythology. And the creature that Conn-Eda goes to see in the original fairy tale is a bird with the face of a human. This one took me ages to find, but I did it for you guys. :D (JK I really did it for me, but y'all benefit, so.) (Also, in chapter two, I made the Alkonost a man. I know it's not perfectly in line with the mythology, but it's really important to me that it be a guy, okay? You'll see why.)
Almaz is the English pronunciation of алмаз, which means "diamond." I wanted the stone Alexander gives Steve to be something precious, but also Russian, because reasons.
Movyatzekon is a semi-made-up word for talking horse, strung together from the words "talking" and "horse" in Polish.
In a related vein, the horse breed that I imagine Bucky is is called a Gypsy Vanner. I picked it because it has famously shaggy hair (and so does Bucky at certain points in Marvel canon!!). The very specific horse I envision for Bucky is in the moodboard above.
Misc. Stuff:
Mulct is an actual word!! It means "a fine, or compulsory payment." Basically, it's the punishment Steve gets for losing the challenge his stepfather gives him.
Variola is an ancient name for smallpox. I chose this as the disease Steve's dad dies from in the fairy tale because, canonically, he dies from mustard gas exposure. Mustard gas exposure can cause skin lesions that can mimic the look of smallpox.
And chapter two stuff, which is literally only places:
Steve and Bucky pass through a kingdom called Albion, which is a very ancient name for England (going back as far as 5th century B.C.E.). Guess where on the map I imagine it is? Yes, you're right. It's England. ;D
They also pass through a land called Veneti, which is named for an ancient west-Slavic tribe called Veneti. It's meant to be where Belarus is, roughly.
Chapter three stuff, which is one measly thing:
(in reference to the chapter title) Travail: painful or laborious effort
If you want to talk about where certain MCU characters come into play, you can always scream at me in whatever way you want! I am probably disproportionately excited about how I've managed to work in so many MCU characters in general, so it's a whole thing in my brain now.
And if you read all the way to the bottom of this long-ass post, thank you and I love you. I mean, I'll love y'all regardless of whether you read the post, but yeah. ✌🏻

Owl House s2e4
I keep wanting to post my “““liveblog”““ commentary on this one but it made me Too Emotional to do my usual raving. (My threshold for verbiage when I’m Actually Feeling Emotions is waaay low, okay. At a certain point, I legitimately can’t Make Words Fit the Feelings. So I never figured out what I really want to say about this episode.)
But with my spoon count being critically low lately and the fact that I’m now 3 episodes behind, I just want to post it As Is and get caught up!
So here’s my commentary with Massive Spoilers for “Keeping Up A-Fear-Ances”!
I have a Lot of Questions alongside the feelings, too.
Oooh, stone backstory? Unexpected but welcome.
So uhh. Where did Lilith get her blue stone? Just the "fashionable" thing?
--
"We have never seen a curse quite like this."
I want to know who came up with this crock of horrible. Had they ever experimented with it on someone else? The demon equivalent of animal testing? Is it lesser curses combined like the unholy glyph amalgamation Eda created?
--
Upon rewatch: I'm realizing this is where she probably got the idea to use potions for it! Overhearing the Healing Coven guy recommending it. Eda Actually Implemented the Healer’s Advice, and LO. IT MADE A DIFFERENCE.
--
Oh wow, I'm not very good at gauging visuals, but Eda must have run away quite young.
--
Tumblr media
The poster on the bottom right.
Tumblr media
The hair. The guyliner.
Eda listened to emo boy bands, apparently.
--
Guh.
Tumblr media
I Will Never Look Upon Sharp Iron Railings The Same Way Ever Again.
(it’s a Locked Tomb thing. It’s a Pavlovian reaction. It’s also a Nexus thing and it’s also Big Emotional. HHHHFF)
--
...Oh. Huh. So... the suitcase kinda just. Came out of nowhere?
--
THE ALARM CLOCK HAD A HEART.
First Hooty, now this thing?
--
Eda's morning routine looks so much like me on weekdays.
--
The fridge just says "C O O L".
--
"I had no idea this is what I did to you. I am so, so sorry."
Big :C Feelings. Too big for me to write about, but I'm feeling them.
--
"What? Suddenly curious about my past?"
"Always. ALWAYS curious."
Oh, dang, me too. Definitely me too.
(Give me ALL the worldbuilding! All the character developement! All the lore! All the random little bits of trivia that makes this world so CHARMING. But especially about the Clawthornes.)
--
...What's that thing on Gwendolyn's wrist? Right wrist? It kinda reminds me of flan. Or maybe a banana split.
I feel like it's maybe a coven mark, but I can't tell what it is, let alone which one it's for. She joined the Beast Coven, right?
--
"And who knows what they put in those nasty concoctions."
"Actually, I do."
So why doesn't she make her own, then? Why does she have to buy them from an elixir guy if she knows what's in them?
(Then again, I know what's in my medications and supplements, but that doesn't mean I can grow my own valerian and rhodiola and make my own vitamins and CERTAINLY can't make my own prescription meds, even if I theoretically Know How.)
--
...I am so very glad that my mother doesn't treat me like Gwendolyn treats Lilith. My father's kinda... ehhhh. It's super complicated with him... and don't even get me started on my stepmother.
But my mother WILL go out of her way to spend time with me, wants to talk to me, frequently asks how my week's going, helps me figure things out, or just talk... and it's really nice to have her.
--
Gwen, basically: I'll only help you if you help me.
Does she really need Luz's help that bad? Would she have helped her if Luz couldn't give her anything in return? And really, what DOES Luz offer her?
--
...squints.
Squints real hard.
What use does a healer need with those powerful artifacts?
Big Distrust.
(Post-rewatch reaction: V I N D I C A T I O N . )
--
Snowy Ribcage, Swampy Toes, Palm Stings?
So the Giant (Titan?*) that comprises Boiling Isles isn't just a decoration, it's used for geography. We've seen, if I remember correctly, the ribcage and (leg bones, maybe?), but this tells us the skeletal remains may indeed be complete!
(* I've been following a theory that it's the bones of The Titan they venerate, possibly even where their magic comes from. That does beg questions on how it died, if it's even really dead, and how long it's been there if it's so decayed. How long before there was life on the corpus?)
--
"didn't even stick around to watch you hatch"-- I mean, to be fair, from the sound of it, with King saying "something happened" (but he was too small to do anything), he probably WANTED to stick around and watch him hatch, But Something Happened.
--
"Knife season came early this year."
STKFGHNLDLVJAI. Speaking of charming lore. Knife season?
--
...the... night market... even has ice cream? I mean I'm glad they get to experience ice cream on The Boiling Isles, but now I'm seriously trying to figure out what it tastes like.
Especially "Franken-Fruit".
--
Oh no.
Oh no.
Baby's first transformation. <:c
--
....what happens if the "inner beast" catches inner Eda? Is that her way of fighting the curse even when she's “overtaken”?
--
Is Gwen saying "sweet flea", right, not "sweet glee"?
--
"Still got it!"
So it looks like Mama's where Eda gets at least some of her power from, huh?
And/or cleverness that kept Eda on the run.
How many times has Mama Clawthorne done this, I wonder?
--
.......So Mama Gwen has both beastkeeping magic, and could summon those tiles, which seems like it would be more construction coven magic?
--
Does this count as a kaiju fight? (probably not because they're not big enough. But the thought amused me.)
--
"Dang. That is GOOD elixir."
Miracle in a bottle, love.
(I know the feel because when they finally FINALLY tried the meds that actually WORK with my absolutely miserable stomach condition, the relief just to be able to do things normally SOMETIMES is so immense. When you spend so long desperate to make it stop and it just, doesn't, after trying *so many things*, when you finally find something that works even just MOST of the time, you take it and you keep it as close as you can.)
--
I don't really have the spoons to get into it or even figure out how to Do Vague Emoting right now, but every Gwendolyn is saying in the last quarter of the episode is Making Me Emotional. (Especially when she's calming her daughters. T~T)
--
"Titan's Blood"? Bones I get, but where do they get the blood??? (I want to say it's a plant sap or something, like dragon's blood, but I don't want to commit to it.)
--
Not the only human to have lived in Bonesborough? "Titan's Blood"?
Why am I thinking Emperor Belos? (He seems to need some sort of... ichor... to power him. Like artificial witch bile, maybe.)
Although, Gwen talks about her "great grandmother" telling her about this other human. 50 years (of Belos' rule) could be two or three generations, more like two really, but we don't know how old Belos is, or really where he comes from. He could have been that human her great-grandmother knew about before he became Emperor.
--
Also, the fact that "Titan's blood" can cause leaks BOTH ways... Doppelganger Luz?
Real question is, was she an INTENTIONAL plant, or an accidental leak?
--
The Suitcase Portal can be opened intentionally, so can Titan's Blood be used intentionally, too? (Is the Suitcase Portal powered by Titan's Blood?)
--
"Someday MY hair is gonna be big enough to do that, too."
Girl's got a dream!
(And King's "You actually WANT that?" made me grin.)
--
So they even reincorporated the fire bees from s2e1! But have they addressed what happened with the scrying potion Lilith made up for them? What did they see? Anything worth mentioning? Or was the narrative framing meant to be more about Lilith Making The Gesture than The Discoveries?

Rapunzel and Cassandra are NOT Sisters!
Tumblr media
Look, I love Tangled. I love Rapunzel and Cassandra, but I think the idea of them being sisters is bullcrap.
Tumblr media
1. Jerrica and Kimber from Jem and the Holograms are sisters.
Tumblr media
2. The Powerpuff Girls are sisters.
Tumblr media
3. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna from My Little Pony are sisters (So are Rarity and Sweetie Belle, as well as Applejack and Apple Bloom).
Tumblr media
4. Elsa and Anna from Frozen are sisters.
Tumblr media
5. Eda and Lilith from The Owl House are sisters.
Tumblr media
6. The Loud Girls are sisters.
Tumblr media
Rapunzel and Cassandra, however, are not sisters. They are not related. Gothel may be Cassandra’s mother, but NOT Rapunzel’s. She did not adopt Raps, she kidnapped her, while she did to Cass what Pink Diamond did to Spinel: she abandoned her.
If Tangled was like Cinderella, and Gothel married Rapunzel’s father, just so she could gain access to Raps’ Hair, and she, along with Cassandra, moved in with Raps and her dad, then Raps and Cass would be stepsisters. But Tangled is not Cinderella: Gothel is not Rapunzel’s stepmother, so Raps and Cass are not even stepsisters.
So no, I don’t consider Rapunzel and Cassandra sisters. Only Cass is Gothel’s daughter, while Raps was Gothel’s prisoner.

• Star was on her way to live with her stepmother's parents but ran away from them only taking her camera with.
• Her Dad and step family found her and she ran after Luz and Owlbert.
• Star's mother died when she was very little, so she doesn't have many memories of her.
• Star enjoys photography. • Totally afride of heights, and whenever flying she holds on to Eda or Luz.
• Her hair is always in a braid on less she's sleep; often gets Eda, King or Luz (mostly King) to help her brush and braid it in the mornings.
• Star can draw circles in the air like other witches, but gets a headache afterwords; so she does magic like Luz.

Some fun little Raeda blended family headcanons (based on https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/whotfelsewantedtobelynnyx/686181058295824384?source=share)
Amber, even though she's technically older than King* is considered the baby of the household. Derwin, Katya, and Luz all refer to her as their baby sister (or in Luz's case, step-sister**), and Eda sometimes calls her 'little bat.'
Derwin never really took on the role of protective older brother until Luz came into his life- but when she did, he took to it with a passion. He once nearly gave Amity a heart attack when she kissed Luz goodbye and turned around just in time to make eye contact with her glaring stepbrother (who came to pick her up from school).
Raine did make Eda give up the nest when they got married. However, they compromised by building her an enormous pile of pillows and bedding (which the kids love).
King takes turns sleeping in everyone else’s beds (although his favorite is still Luz’s, of course)
Katya keeps extra pillows stashed under her bed in case the younger girls have nightmares***.
Katya and Luz sit and write together almost every day. Some days they write poems, other days they write fanfictions, but most days they work on a fantasy/murder mystery novel that they're writing together (sometimes King helps)
Amber and Katya transferred to Hexside after their parent’s marriage and the subsequent moveinto the Owl House. Principal Bump naively assumed that they took after their adoptive parent, and found out the hard way that Amber in particular seemingly took after her stepmother. Coincidentally, Eda was also banned from attending parent-teacher conference night.
Luz begged Raine to teach her piano when they first began courting Eda again. It was during these piano lessons that Raine asked her blessing to marry Eda.
Most of the time, the kids just call their parents by their first names. When they don’t, the kids call Raine some variation of “boss” in place of a traditional ‘Mom’ or ‘Dad’ (Eda, of course, is Mama Eda) .
Camilla**** regularly “video chats” with the whole family, and she and Raine have become good friends.
Eda, surprisingly, is the better cook of the household. Raine is a decent cook. However, the two of them aren’t allowed in the kitchen together after they managed to set a pot of water on fire.
Lilith had a house built not far from the Owl House, where she cares for the Blight children***** and regularly visits her nieces and nephews. While she adores all her niblings, she became particularly close with Derwin after she took a job teaching at the university he attends.
Gwendolyn and Dell are grandparents. That’s all.
Actually that’s not all. Amber is 100% Grandpa’s little girl. She’s got that man wrapped around her finger, to the point that Raine and Eda had to have a sit-down with him after Amber came home one day with a pet unicorn.
That’s all I have for now, but if people like this I’ll try and do more!
*I headcanon their ages to be as follows:
Raine: 43
Eda: 43
Derwin: 19
Katya: 17
Luz (by the time the DOU takes place): 15, or nearly 15
Amber: 13-14
King: nearly 9
**Raine adopted their crew post-DOU, after realizing how mutually important they were to each other (almost dying will do that for you) and Eda informally adopted Luz. Thus, when Raine and Eda married, the B/CATTS became Luz and King’s step-siblings
***This AU takes place post DOU. Everyone’s ok, but they’re understandably a little traumatized.
****One of the consequences of stopping the DOU and the Collector (in this AU) was that the door to the human world was closed off permanently. Camilla was angry and hurt at first, but started to open up communications for the sake of both her daughters. Eventually, she admitted that Eda was now sharing her role as Luz’s mother, and settled into her life raising Vee. Since then, they’ve had a relatively healthy (if a little awkward) relationship.
*****Odalia was basically scorned out of the Boiling Isles for her involvement in the DOU. Alador sent his kids to live with Lilith (Amity’s former mentor and (headcanoned) godmother to the twins) while they worked on mending their relationships.
