The Gits, Spear and Magic Helmet from the limited edition single (1991).

I think this post is appropriate for both Women's Month and Good Friday. It's an anti-rape anthem written by frontwoman Mia Zapata and guitarist Joe Spleen. Mia's lyrics rage against the rapists in the song, promising justice for the vicitim and accountability for her abusers.

Two years after the release of this record, Mia's body was found raped, murdered and abandoned in a Seattle, Washington alley after a Gits show at a local venue. In the end, Mia Zapata was a sacrifice to misogyny and rape culture.
