--It’s not perfect lines, but I don’t have much time left to finish these.:):)
Steve would really like to have been able to claim that absolutely none of this was surprising in the least. That, in the year and change he’d been in this new century, with this new team, they’d seen and fought enough bizarre things that this was nothing really too far out of the ordinary.
He’d already lost that bet once and learned the hard way that, sometimes, there just isn’t any such thing as prepared enough.
“I swear I read this in a book once…”
“Really? I just watched the movie.”
“First one to comment on my metabolism is volunteering for clean up duty,” Steve said dryly, not bothering to hide his smirk.
A brief pause followed his words and he caught the look exchanged between Clint and Tony. “I’m not naming names but it seems like a certain half of the team is uniquely qualified for this sort of clean up,” Tony mused.
Steve rolled his eyes only to duck automatically when a distinctly wet sounding thud sounded against the outer hull of the jet. He looked up and grimaced, not even needing to be able to see to know what it was. “How about,” he started. “How about we focus on the fact that this city’s being rained on by actual spaghetti and Hulk-sized meatballs. You know, the reason we’re here.”
“Oh, I see,” Clint nodded, eyes narrowed, “You can name names…”
“Do we even have any idea where it’s coming from?”
“The sky, it looks like.”
“Obviously,” he huffed. “But what is causing it to come from the sky?”
“Should we be looking for a kid-genius wanting to boost the tourism industry to save his little town?”
“At this point, even that sounds like a logical possibility.”
@steverogersbingo Square filled: E5 - Retired Steve
The bar was supposed to be a retirement investment.
Just a rundown place they’d put their heads together and bought in the mid-90s after ousting Hydra and washing their hands of SHIELD. Just something to keep mind and body occupied and out of trouble whether that trouble ended up being drawn back into the fight or simply the terrors rattling around in their own minds.
The kitchen was Bucky’s territory, Steve minded the bar and played willing taste-tester.
It was a good life, a simple one.
Or it was, as long as he didn’t think too hard about a particular shield hidden away, or their mutual paranoia making it one of the most secure dive bars in the country: regularly swept for monitoring devices, multiple exits, some obvious others intentionally not so much, the reinforced apartment above the bar itself.
Steve supposed he couldn’t be too surprised when past and present collide as the world tried to tip sideways once again, bringing too familiar faces to their doorstep.

He knows it's not their fault, it's not intentional. He can't and doesn't blame them. But that does little to soothe the sting of being forgotten.
