My first post as Mairon / Sauron

I want to say that i am shaking while posting this because he is my favorite character ever and i am over emotional

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone during @athenscon2022 for coming to take pictures or simply talk to me, you have no idea how happy you made me ❤️

People recognizing that i am Sauron, telling me that they love the character and my design / cosplay is pretty and does justice to the character was everything for me!

I know we all know and love the headcanon of Maedhros being the one to give Sauron his iconic name but consider this:

Mairon is all pleased with his beautifully decorated and perfectly detailed letter with the demands of the Feanorians surrender in exchange for the king (that he knows are all bs)

Only to receive Maglor’s letter and it just says

“Fuck off Stinky”

I absolutely love that Sauron used to be a decent dude and was called "admirable" before becoming a stinky bastard man. Like yas give me a good villain arc.

Sauron is derived from the Quenya root “Saura” which means foul or putrid smelling, this means that Sauron can be reasonably translated into English as “Stinky”

(Though “the Abhorred” is still a better translation)

i like how at some point the elves renamed sauron (just as melkor was renamed morgoth) and from then on their name(s) were "his right name". the dark lord was deadnaming himself by going by mairon or anything else not describing how vile, stinky, and abhorrent he was.

I'm not sure how to count "Annatar" I guess it depends how you feel about it. Probably nice.

I am so mad when people called Thranduil is weak 😭 that drunk dude literally protect his realm without the rings of power, and managed to stomp at sauron's stinky butt so many times 😭 and yet people still compared hin with Elrond, despite for being older than him 😭😭😭😭💥

I always just think that people who are disinterested in Thranduil or view him as "weak" don't care to imagine what he is like beyond the very limited information Professor Tolkien gave us. It's a matter of taste.

About 80% of the posts I write about him is invention and speculation, but I like to believe I've done enough research to properly ground my theories in canon, so they're (hopefully??) believable enough to imagine as canonical. But not everyone will buy into it, and some fans would always just love Elrond first and put him on a pedestal high above the Elvenking.

Elrond has much more "official" canon info to boost his resume, so it's not really fair to pit him against Thranduil and ask us to decide who is better/stronger/superior. The Lord of Imladris is an amazing character and I look forward to writing more about him eventually, but I remain loyal to the Mirkwood/Thranduil camp, even through we have to work with mostly headcanons in our fics.

Don't worry about what other people say about our King. ;) They don't know what fun they're missing out on!

Stinky Sauron

Oh, you took a fictional character and, just for your story, made them bad? Corrupted? Put them in some sort of twisted scenario when they want to hurt people, instead of help?

Have you considered doing literally anything else?

I am so tired of dark and twisted versions of existing characters. Your evil Supermen, tyrannical Kings Arthur, horror variants of Insert Character Here. They're boring. Inane. Stinky.

Want to put your spin on an existing character? Gimmie a good Sauron. Complex Morgan Le Fay. Something, anything that isn't cynicism masquerading as imagination.

So the next Death Battle is Rick vs The Doctor.

Honestly the episode's gonna be pretty shit regardless of whether the outcome is right or not because The Doctor just... doesn't work well for the usual Death Battle format (and really, Makima didn't either).

He's just not a character that lends himself well to usual power-scaling. He's not a character you can just go, "Well, my character performs the Stinky Fart Balls Jutsu on him and he'd die."

That's like trying to argue that Goku could beat Gandalf by hitting him really hard. These types of characters (The Doctor, Gandalf, Dumbledore, Makima, etc) just can't be powerscaled because they asspull all of their powers and abilities based on what the plot needs. Any defeat/victory for them would have to be poetic or have some thematic basis (Sauron being beat by two backwoods farmers and someone stricken with insatiable greed via his own source of power).

And given the usual Death Battle rule of 'character's morality is turned off' (see; Aang killing Ed even though Aang's whole deal was that he didn't want to kill), that just makes it even worse. The Doctor is a character defined by his morality. If he just 'turned it off' he'd have no shortage of horrifying ways to completely clean Rick's clock and make it as slow and agonizing as possible, sure; but in doing so that's not The Doctor anymore.

And what's the point of The Doctor beating Rick if you had to fundamentally make him not The Doctor to begin with?

TL;DR: Rick should have fought Xavier from X:RA, but Death Battle isn't willing to take all the drugs needed for the fight to be good.

Just finished Rings of Power and there’s a lot I can say. Liked some of it. Disliked some of it. It got me back into Middle-Earth (like I ever really left, some part of me is always there, but like the Star Wars sequel trilogy (which I despise with no remorse) it kind of revived general interest and gave me something new to see in a world I love so much) so I am inclined to give it a chance but overall a mixed bag. I love the books, I love the movies, there was some stuff that should definitely have been changed (or left out) in the series but other than that I liked it. (And if you disagree, good for you)

But what got me in the finale was the misunderstanding. Those cult... lady... things- whatever they are. Them mistaking the Istar for Sauron. That is fucking gold. If he ever finds out what they did he is going to be so offended. The very idea that he, Sauron, would look like a bedraggled, bearded hermit. The gall. The insult. He is Sauron! The bitch who gave himself so many pretty names because everyone else called him Mr Stinky. The right-hand Maia to Morgoth himself. He may not have shown himself in the guise of Annatar in the show (something I mourn because I would dearly like to see a live-action slutty twink Sauron helping poor flustered Celebrimbor make the rings before using him as a banner) but Halbrand is an attractive human form. If there’s one thing Sauron values, it is his own vanity.

And they thought he was the hermit in rags.
