Hi Trigun fandom. I come with my first terrible offering. I'm sorry.
(So many people lost their arms to this guy in the span of a single episode... like. Specifically he either cut off their arms or left them with only an arm. Dude.)
(***I have seen up to episode 3 of Trigun Stampede and have read none of the manga nor watched the 98 series! I am working my way through it all as quickly as I can but please don't spoil it for me! :D)

Starting to think that the key to being a staple “must watch” anime is to trick people into learning philosophy cause we’ve got:
Evangelion - come for the mecha fights stay to learn about the “self”, reality, and identity
Cowboy Bebop - come for the space cowboys stay to learn about what it truly means to live and to be alive
Trigun - come for the silly main character and cool fights stay to learn about pacifism, forgiveness, the sanctity of life, and the strength of hope
Fullmetal Alchemist - come for the cool science “magic” stay to learn about Plato, what is truth, and how to live a good life

That Vash’s Ghosts WIP? Whatcha planning with that?
Oh, that one! That's a fun idea that I'd really like to get back to.
The premise is that Vash of the Trigun Stampede anime gets haunted by his manga and 90s anime counterparts. They offer commentary on his journey and interact with him to a degree as well!
Vash's counterparts aren't the only ones who get "carried over," either, but they're the first ones who show up, so that's why it's titled that way.
I haven't decided yet if their interactions are going to change the plot in a minor way or a drastic way, but it's definitely a fun thing to think about.
Have a snippet! This would be ~Ep 9 of Stampede (I wrote it when the anime was happening; I don't know if I'm going to actually keep this scene as written or not). Rumble is anime-Vash, Maximum is manga-Vash.
“You can’t go to July!” Rumble scrambled in front of Vash, putting his arms out. As if that could keep the younger Plant from walking right through him.
“I have to,” Vash said quietly. “I have to stop him.”
“Not like this you won’t!” Rumble didn’t seem the least bit phased by Vash walking through him like a ghost. If anything, he seemed even more agitated. “You’re gonna – he’s gonna make you—”
“You’ll wipe July off the map if you go.”
Maximum’s voice made Vash stop short. As much as he wanted to argue that – he wouldn’t kill anyone, he didn’t want to – something in the other self’s voice made him pause.
Vash turned slowly and looked back at Maximum, frowning. “Are you saying that because it happened to you?”
Maximum held his gaze for a long moment. His expression didn’t waver. “It happened with both of us, but for a different reason.” He nodded to Vash’s flesh-and-blood arm. “We have a power in us that is dangerous and hard to control. Knives is going to do something that will set it off – what that is depends on him. But it will wipe July off the face of the planet…and the entire incident will be wiped out of your memory. Maybe more.”
Vash’s eyes widened. He could – he had a power that could –
He shook his head. “Th-that’s – that can’t be right. I don’t…I don’t have that kind of power.”
“You do. You have an Angel Arm in you, and you don’t know how to control it.” Maximum looked frustrated. “And thanks to Zazie, we don’t have the time to teach you. I don’t have the time to teach you.”

Watching Stampede with my family made me realize how genuinely insane I have turned thanks to it
Like wow the actual physical EFFORT it took me to not randomly start explaining the composition of a scene, the color choice, the framing, the voice directing and the choreographies of certain scenes, as well as some of the lore behind it I should not explain because spoilers.
No, sorry. I lied on my résumé . I can’t like anything a normal amount. I’ve liked this for less than 4 months and I’m very deep into the trenches. And it will unfortunately become everyone else’s problem as well, because this one will stick around for a long time.

Alright I'm treating episodes 11 and 12 as a 2 part finale. Even though it's after midnight. Whatever let's go!

Hi! As someone who now kinda wants to check out Trigun because of the hype, do you recommend that I can start with Stampede? Or do I really need to watch the OG anime first to better understand/enjoy it? Thank you! 🙋🏻♀️
you can start with stampede! i'd say knowing the context of the original enhances the experience but isn't necessary to enjoy the show. I would consider stampede more viewer-friendly, especially for those of us who are used to modern storytelling conventions (the original suffers the consequences of general writing trends in anime at the time it was produced and of the fact that it was produced long before the manga was finished, so the story is somewhat disjointed and has a lot of filler which makes it REALLY hard to get into.) if you do end up liking stampede, however, I'd suggest trying out watching at least SOME of the original because it adds a lot of cool nuance and context to the story that stampede tells!

the thing that makes me prefer brad in trimax compared to tristamp is because we get this kind of moments with these people whose life had been touched and changed by vash even though he's there for just a small percentage of their lives
compared a kid's perspective to an adult one, a figure like vash is very life-changing, especially when it comes to shaping up their personal worldview in this world where it feels like violence is the only answer
its also why i love monev the gale arc in trigun stampede so much, because it highlights how vash's perception of time become distorted as the effect of time nullified him yet it still pass for many other people
even though he found a solution, time does not forgive
the time is running out for a lot of them, but not for vash the stampede
which is a tragedy on its own
