[Project Story] 13 mg
What is it? 2min20sec Short Film for 2023 Nikon Film Festival When: 2022-23 Where: Paris Roll: Director and Post-Producer What I Did: Directed a weird script from a crazy friend and filmed it in 3 days 3 different locations in a freezing cold Paris. With: Thibaut Rabier, Médéric, Yolan, Leila, Giovanni, Stouf, Aurel.

Well, I’m just gonna introduce this project for now and fill it with the crazy details later.
So we were back in Europe already, me and Thibaut, doing all those small projects, which we were not completely satisfied with. We were running out of ideas, and energy. 2022 so far was a big drainer of a year. We were nomads in between family and friend houses for the whole 365 days.
Music video clips and kebab ads in Lisbon, stop motion for clubs in Brussels and Paris, etc... We needed something bigger.
When I visited Thibaut in Nice during the summer, I met one of his craziest friends, Médéric. The first day we met, the guy showed up with a huge bone he just had robbed from a nearby restaurant table. Short, curly hair, joker smile and crazy blue eyes, he was always on the move, couldn’t stay more than 5 minutes still. We called him Médéric de la Violence. I’ll let you translate that in English.
Besides this first funky meeting, we started to see each other more often, and I started realizing he was a very creative guy. He had a lot of fucked up ideas but amongst them, there was a few really suitable for this reality. I had to come back to Brussels at some point, but we kept in touch.
When autumn arrived, Thibaut called to tell me Médéric was working on a script and wanted us to make it real. After a few chit chat, we decided to produce it and send it to the Nikon Festival, which had just opened their subscription. The theme of 2023 was the number 13, and it had to be less than 2min20sec. Huge challenge, but that’s exactly what we were looking for.
We started pre-production. Me and Thibaut rearranged the script and storyboard Médéric already did, and kept having meetings on a weekly basis. I moved to Lisbon at that time, and they were in France. Then came the filming: a 3 days 3 different locations marathon in a freezing 0°C Paris with a team of very skillfull amateurs.
Médéric arranged all those locations, the props, the actors, everything. And acted as well in the shortfilm. Really suprising and contrastful for a guy that was eating leftovers of T-bones on our first meeting in the warm french riviera 4 months ago.
Anyways, the filming was successful, and fun as always. Again, there’s a lot of details that won’t be fitting here, but I did a little bloopers so you guys can have a feel of it. In this job, the process is always funnier than the final product.

Big thanks to all involved: George, Médé, Yolan, Leila, Aurel, Giovanni, Stouf.

Note
Using the power of google search here's soms stupud stouf:
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
I'm going to get my toe nail pierced this weekend.
google is awesome
you are able to get back in five minutes
fun fact, nails are incredibly easy to cut through with a razor blade, toenails are thicker so you can cut for longer and deeper, but theres a lot of nerves in your feet, but your fingernails are thinner and you will stop when you reach the flesh, unless you train yourself
