1.) Do you think Robin was supposed to be there with the marching band?

2.) LIttlest Wheeler says ‘Yeah, dad, it’s fun!’ On the Ferris wheel which I think makes that Holly’s first line in the entire show.

3.) Also I think that’s a completely different Holly actress.

4.) Holly sees the trees moving because of the Mind Flayer goop monster.

5.) I’m shocked that it took a discussion to figure out the Mind Flayer knows where they are since Billy literally told her that it knows where they are.

6.) Dustin is a terrible driver.

7.) I know lots of people like to give Robin and Steve trauma about getting high because of this, but I don’t think this would actually traumatize them. I think this would be the least bad part of the evening, tbh.

8.) Nancy with a shotgun, hell yeah. Jonathan with an ax is a little optimistic. Not because he’s a bad fighter, but because I would not wanna be that close to the blob monster that can take over people by getting into their mouth.

9.) He gets like 2 hits in before Nancy takes over with a shotgun.

10.) Well, and then El takes over. Sort of. There’s a lot.

11.) oh shit, I forgot El gets pulled up and it takes like, all of them to hold her. Well all but Lucas and Nancy, who are wielding the weapons.

13.) Neither Robin nor Steve understand Back to the Future while high.

14.) I just realized I think they had Hopper act like an insolent man baby just so they could have Murray call him that and have the moment where Alexi is like WAIT THESE TWO HAVEN’T FUCKED? Happen.

16.) This is the first time Nancy or Jonathan have acknowledged that real people are dying if they kill the Mind Flayer. And they only acknowledge it for like, a second.

23.) Steve does say he’s not in love with Nancy anymore while under the effects of truth serum. Like yes it’s right before he hits on Robin, but still.

27.) Did they…did they CGI blood onto Alexei? That initial blood pool looked weird.

29.) Hopper should teach Steve how to fight.

30.) Mayor Kline is the reason Alexei is dead. So for any innovative folks, an easy way to save Alexei is to just have Mayor Kline die when he’s first confronted by that enforcer dude.

31.) I am glad Joyce punched Larry and kicked him in the balls.

32.) I will admit that the shots in the Big Top fun house are pretty great.

33.) The Russians have alerted Murray that the children are in the mall. I mean, they didn’t mean to tell him, but they found out.

34.) El and the rest of the gang to save the day! Hell yeah, baby girl. Hit them with that car!

35.) I forgot how gross the CGI leg thing looked. But also man the CGI just never really got better for this show, huh?

"Russians? What Russians?" "The Russians!"

When Jonathan does talk to him, Steve is annoyed that Jonathan is confused and not highly impressed like he should be. Even though Steve did all this work [over the past season] and is clearly injured/ just almost died in a Russian base camp trying to impress Jonathan.

But Jonathans not impressed and praising Steve for being a hero, like Steve wanted, instead Jonathan is just confused, so all that was for nothing. And hes upset that Jonathan doesn't look concerned about his injuries, BUT really, Jonathan is concerned or wouldn't be asking and concerned about whats going on. Also notice that Steve is looking at Jonathan when hes saying it looking at Jonathan's reaction when he first starts talking about it. He is expecting the reaction he wants to see, but doesn't get it because Jonathan is just confused instead.

Steve is like: Once again I do all this to impress you and you don't even notice or know whats going on!!!

*If you can't tell hes looking at Jonathan specifically while talking about it, put your hand over Steve's injured eye when you watch the scene and you'll see it.*

okay so im back to rewatching stranger things still ((s3e7 rn)) and idk if im just not remembering correctly but if like 90% of the town is connected to the mind flayer wouldn't that mean they're gonna have to fight the town in the last season???

i just feel like i have soo many theories foe where this could go so its gotta go SOMEWHERE

i get like,,, kill the big boss it disconnects everyone but that was their fear when will was being hurt with the collective consciousness in s2 - like if literally any of the town is aware of whats going on wouldn't they be "spies" for vecna?? even if not spies would hurting vecna somehow alter their ? sense of self ??? ((especially bc vecna is so tied to trauma)) i just feel likeeeee

idk we never really got an understanding of WHO was infected or whatever in s3 when we get the shots of all those people,,, or like if they were reported as dead or missing?? so,, interesting to see what happens with that

also when dustin and erica are in the movie theater, Doc is talking about time travel & immediately after we're introduced to Plancks constant for the first time in relation to the show - so my current running theory is theres going to be something to do with time travel in s5

especially bc plancks constant shows up a few times and when Steve and Robin are tripping out they like,,, lowkey touch on some vibrational theories with the way the lights move ((even if unintentionally lol ooo pretty lightsss))

they kinda touched on "time travel" vibes when it comes to El being able to reconnect to her memories but i feel like i wouldnt be surprised if they did some shit w that in the final season

like if u just follow the science of whats happening in the show and the lil background details it doesnt feel like that far of a stretch

anyways maybe its just my philosophy brain and physics brain taking it too far but YUM YUM YUM i cant wait for s5 i need her so bad

Stranger Things 3.07

Yeah, I'm gonna get to the end.

So far things look okay. That’s not going to last long, is it? Kinda expected the haunted house to turn into a Dungeons and Dragons reference. The cartoon that I wasn’t allowed to watch, I mean. They’re going to end up trapped at the top of the ferris wheel, aren’t they? While extended shit goes down? Oh, no, the little girl… did she get wasped? From the mouths of babes, though. Burnham Wood. Is she the only thing that can stop him, though? Is she? There were at least ten more where she came from. Sequential numbers would seem to suggest that she’s the strongest/most refined/most effective/whatever, but what happens when you combine the ones who came before her? What’s the cumulative effect? Erica, where’s your monsterprod? Don’t tell me you left it down there. Ey, tooling up sequence. I wonder if there’s a standard length of suspenseful pause before monsters erupt in tv and film? Yep, still kinda looks like the Demagorgon. Why do I feel like “it’s for you” might not be “it’s for destroying you”, but rather “It’s a gift for you, you’re one of us and we miss you”? Welp, damned good film. Yeah, he’s a couple dowser. Except I kinda think they already know what each other are like in the sack. They dated in high school, didn’t they? Shit, she’ll be infected now. “Flayed” has become far more literal. Killing that thing with fireworks could work. Could distract it, anyway. Nice timing, Dustin. Or nice timing, Mike. Not sure which. Mike. The word is “love”. Yeah, that’s what discussing time travel’s always like. And that was a simple example. I’m guessing the Terminator’s going to show up at an inopportune moment. Eggo. Simpler times. I suspect the fireworks will prove useful. Hitchcock would be proud. Might be nice if they find their own clothes again, but I suspect they’ll still be in their sailor suits at the big showdown. His hair still manages to look glorious. That’s… amazing. Oh OOOOHHHH ROBIN Well, I guess it’s a teensy bit of representation. Steve, you are a cinnamon roll. I expected that to be the Russian Terminator, not Billy, for some reason. Maybe Alexei is a puppy after all. Oh. There’s Arnie. Shit. Alexei was a puppy. At least he got to be happy for a bit. I actually really like the cut of her dress. Funfairs. Also creepy as fuck. Go. Hopper. Though, of course, he’s the Russian Terminator so it’s going to take a lot more than that to kill him. Full moon? Might explain some things. Oh hey, it’s Rasputin dude again Please let that be a rat squeaking, not a shoe… Ah hell, it was a shoe. How… El? What, no subtitle reading [glorious, triumphant synths]? “Everything worked out!” um. That is precisely what you call “tempting fate”. Is she going to end up an amputee? I think maybe… but you know what? It didn’t stop Lirael.

Steve wants to look impressive in front of Jonathan and goes out of his way to do this

During this whole conversation [when Steve is first reunited with Jonathan again/runs up to Jonathan specifically], Steve is talking alot more than anyone else and Steve is trying to sound impressive and make it clear that he was the leader and was in charge so Jonathan should be impressed. and he wanted Jonathan to know he almost just died so Jonathan would feel for him. Once Jonathan shows up, Steves tone changes especially towards Robin and Dustin and hes trying to sound a lot more like an adult/authority figure/leader. [Compare it to the childlike silliness of well... the past how many episodes when he was goofing around with Robin and Dustin in particular even when he wasn't drugged]

Erica: Lucas? Lucas: What are you doing here? Erica: Ask them. It's their fault. Steve: True, yeah. Totally true. It's absolutely our fault. Taking accountability since he was the leader

Robin: I don't understand what happened to that car. Dustin: El has superpowers. Robin: I'm sorry? Steve: Superpowers. She threw it with her mind. C'mon, catch up.

Dustin: She cracked the top secret code. Steve: Yeah, which is how we found out about the Russians in the first place. Jonathan: Russians? Wait, what Russians? Steve: The Russians! Talking to Jonathan specifically since he was staring at him. Bringing up how they did this really impressive thing by finding out about the russians and going after them. Annoyed Jonathan is confused and not impressed like he should be.

Mike: Couldn't understand half of what you were saying. Dustin: gddmn low battery. Steve: How many times do I have to tell you with the low battery? Like he was in charge of Dustin and his batteries and told him about those damn batteries and Dustin didn't listen to Steve's wisdom. Steve wants Jonathan to know hes on top of things and knew about the failing battery situation and told Dustin not to use it up.

Dustin: Well, everything worked out, didn't it, Steve? Erica: Worked out? We almost died. Dustin: Yeah, but we didn't, did we? Steve: It was pretty damn close. Wants Jonathan to feel sorry for him cause he almost just died and he wants a hug from him

allie this made me want to rewatch stranger things...in no particular order my top 5:

the bite (s3e7) - robin's coming out scene is so personal to me, steve's admission and then his reaction and the moment that solidified their friendship forever....it's one of the most beautifully scripted and shot tv scenes of all times. and ofc their shenanigans the whole episode make it my favorite episode

the spy (s2e6) - solely because steve looks so munchable and is a badass in that ep

dear billy (s4e4) - do i even need to explain? running up the hill, the creel story, the metaphor for fighting and winning against depression - *chef's kiSS*

the massacre at hawkins lab (s4e7) - it restored my faith in stranger things... the way everything ties up. jamie campbell bower's delivery of the speech gave me chills. phenomenal

the upside down (s1e8) - one of the best season ends. steve coming through really changed my perception of him, the culmination of this amazing concept of the show was satisfying af

So You Want To Watch Star

That's completely understandable! Star is the type of show where the first season and a half feel like an entirely different show from the godsend that is the second half! So here's your guide on how to get to the good part.

On the fence? This show features an incredibly queer narrative told through straight people, along with showing the complexities of racism, classism, capitalism, privilege, and love, and how those tie together. It's heaven for people who love to analyze and learn from cartoons, as well as simps for healthy adorable romance. As a She Ra and Owl House fan...it's worth the watch.
