May 18th 1313 saw Robert the Bruce invade the Isle of Man.
Dates differ a wee bit on this, but they all say it was mid May when Robert the Bruce landed at Ramsey on the Isle of Man "with a multitude of ships."
Some of you may be thinking, why was Scotland invading "Man" but the island was a Celtic nation, other Scottish monarchs had taken interest there, notably King Alexander III who in 1267, was compelled to send an expedition against " the rebels " of Man. Edward I "Longshanks took Man while Scotland was in turmoil during the great cause, in July, 1291, " the Noble Lady Maria, Queen of Man" a member of the Scandinavian royal family of Man, paid homage to Edward at Perth, two years later Edward granted Man to his Puppet King of Scotland, John Balliol.
After Balliol entered into an alliance with Norway and France, Longshanks promptly marched north to Scotland, stripping Balliol of the Scottish crown and treated the country as a forfeited fief, Man is thought to have been retaken around the same time, and so it remained until 1313.
According to a contemporary account " In the year 1313, on the 18th of May, Lord Robert [Bruce], King of Scotland, put in at Ramsay with a large number of ships, and on the following Sunday went to the nunnery at Douglas, where he spent the night, and on Monday laid siege to the Castle of Rushen, which was defended by the Lord Dungali Mac Dowyle against the said Lord King until the Tuesday after the Feast of St. Barnabas the Apostle (June 21), on which day the said Lord King took the Castle."
Bruce granted the Isle of Man to Randolph, Earl of Moray. One of the conditions was that Moray had to annually provide ‘six ships of twenty six oars’ - perhaps an indication of Bruce’s growing maritime ambitions.
This invasion was a bold move by The Bruce, you have to remember it was over a year before the decisive Battle of Bannockburn.
The English retook the Island in 1315, probably in response to the Scots invasion of Ireland by Edward Bruce.
The pic is Castle Rushen on Man.

Wordcount 13 April 2023
Raider AU: 1291
Legion ASC: 560
H&M: 4978
BDVV editing (camp nano): 4534
Also today:
hit 53k for Camp Nano, complete, will keep going, idk that I will hit 100k words on editing BDVV bc I don't know if BDVV is 100k words, lol
did 2 more strip pieced blocks? That sounds right
quilted the Green Crazy Quilt and trimmed. Needs binding tape so I can finish it, I'll get that on the weekend
Arting continues! The head still looks weird, so I started coloring the lineart until I can figure out what's going on with the head.
H&M has some story, but then a whopping amount of research happened because we changed the year the story takes place in, AND I discovered an issue that means a big change in the middle of the plot. The plot itself is fine, just that elements have to change.
Exercised.
Total for today: 11,363
Total for April: 142,977
Total for 2023: 1,017,167

Commonly Asked Questions about CBD What is a Cannabinoid? There are more than one hundred unique compounds found in the Cannabis plant. These compounds are called cannabinoids. The two most famous cannabinoids are CBD and THC. THC is the cannabinoid that acts as a euphoriant and gets you “high.” CBD is the non-psychoactive, non-intoxicating cannabinoid that has recently received so much attention in the medical as well as the health and wellness space. What is the difference between Cannabis and Hemp? Cannabis and Hemp are actually two varieties of the same plant species – Cannabis Sativa. Because they share the same species name, there is a lot of confusion around the differences between them. Both varieties produce cannabinoids. Hemp is the variety of Cannabis Sativa that has been bred to have very low levels of THC (0.3% or less) and high levels of CBD. To be legally considered Hemp, the Cannabis plant must have no more than 0.3% THC. What is broad-spectrum? CBD is extracted from the Hemp plant. There are different methods of extraction which yield different kinds of extracts. Another term for these extracts is “hemp oil.” Some CBD products use isolate which is 100% pure CBD with all of the other compounds of the plant stripped away. Broad Spectrum CBD extracts which contain 80-90% CBD. The remaining 10-20% include the plant’s naturally occurring terpenes and phytocannabinoids. It is believed that these compounds aid in bioavailability, so the body can absorb and make the best use of the CBD. Is there a difference between hemp oil and hemp seed oil? Hemp oil is CBD oil. It is pressed from the leaves, flowers, stems, and stalks of the plant and contains cannabinoids and other compounds. Hemp seed oil, on the other hand, is pressed from the seeds of the plant, which contain NO CBD. Hemp seed oil has been on the market for decades as a food and dietary supplement and is sometimes used in beauty and personal care products. Hemp seed oil does not have the same properties and benefits as Hemp oil/CBD oil. https://www.mirthemp.com/frequantly-asked-questions-about-cbd/?feed_id=1291&_unique_id=63763c3072924 #Uncategorized

Thoughts on the debate surrounding the concepts of “feudalism” and “serfdom”? (Also, if you’re comfortable revealing, what have you focused on in your research/studies? “Mediaeval and Early Modern history” covers an awful lot of ground.)
Oh ho ho, an obscure and technical question that is of interest to perhaps five people and a cat. Bless you. This is delicious.
As for my research, my PhD dissertation was on medieval French and crusade history, and I have worked mostly on the crusades from 1095-1291, medieval Europe and the Middle East, medieval gender, social, and queer history, medieval and modern comparative historiography, and the "imagined medieval" in the modern world. I focus primarily on gender, power, class, race, and law, and my recent and upcoming publications are centered on medieval/premodern queer history, sometimes in combination with another research interest (such as crusade, gender, law, etc). I am also interested in the global medieval world (i.e. outside Western Europe), and developing secondary research projects/papers on modern Eastern Europe, the Cold War, and Russian/Soviet/post-Soviet Russian history.
As for the debate on "feudalism" and "serfdom", I tend to agree with the position that they've been generally stripped of authentic critical value, and are usually meaningless placeholders designed to gesture vaguely at a concept that the author doesn't actually understand or has not bothered to define. "Feudalism" is used as a generic catch-all for a broad variety of medieval social systems, or in a disparaging way suggesting that these arrangements were trite, limited, nepotistic, reliant on bribery, personal volition, or some other political structure that we define as "bad" or "outdated" (i.e. not modern representative democracy). It’s a bad habit, and it needs to stop.
If you're using "feudalism" as a critical term and you expect your reader to understand what you're talking about, then you need, as Chris Wickham says, to carefully define it and include strict parameters as to where it applies and how. Are you talking about specific relations between a king and his vassals, and if so, which king, which vassals, where, when, and why? What does it mean to say that these relations were "feudal," and are you referring to the commonly accepted system of mutual rights and obligations between elite male landholders and the king? What is the underlying motivation for painting these political relationships as Less Worthy? Did they work or not work? How were they subject to external social pressures, and if we're talking about "modern feudalism," what the hell does that mean? Is that as much a contradiction as when, in 2001, Osama bin Laden was talking about "Zionist crusaders," tying together the post-1948 creation of Israel and a modern right-wing political movement with the medieval crusades? Can these two things exist in the same chronological moment, and if so, what is the criteria that we're using to decide that?
Likewise, I think "serfdom" tends to go down the same track, because of the omnipresent popular mindset that all medieval people were kings, priests, knights, or peasants. "Serfdom" is also used in a pejorative way suggesting that medieval working people were constantly exploited and misused, and it papers over the wide variety of economic classes that existed beneath the nobility. True, actual serfs -- i.e. people legally bound to a certain plot of land and expected to work it in exchange for a percentage of the crop yield, with few if any legal rights and generally poor living conditions -- were never the majority of the non-noble medieval population, and even where they did exist, they were subject to the same negotiation over their status and reward as there is today. Elderly peasants could retire and be supported by the overall yield of their estate, even without working it themselves, in a medieval form of Social Security. They often also sued their landholders for withheld benefits or bad treatment, so the semantic sense of "serf" as "person with no agency or ability to change their circumstance" is likewise not accurate.
Basically, you can't use it as a synonym for "someone who is not a king, priest, or knight.” Indeed, the strict hierarchies of medieval society were under attack in the late 14th century by the Lollard reform movement in England, the peasants' uprisings, and other ordinary medieval people who felt that (uh, rather like today), society had become stratified into the rulers, the religious extremists, and the military, and that they all profited in economically and morally unfair ways from the labor of working people. However, "serf" is still only applicable to a certain subclass of those, and using it as a broad-brush term is both misleading and generally bad practice.

5k Survey XXVI
1251. Do you believe that people should be able to choose death for themselves if they want to end their lives? >> I do. And yeah, I’m aware that that also means I think suicide is a viable option. I do think that. I think it’s possible to prevent it from becoming the option the person takes, but sometimes that doesn’t happen, and it is what it is. 1252. Is there anything you morally object to? >> I don’t know about “morally”. I guess if “well, that thing you want to do is gonna cause immediate harm to me or somebody I care about, so I object to you doing it” is a moral, then yeah. Otherwise, in “moral” debates, I mostly just pick the side that seems to make the most sense to me. 1253. What would you never do for money? >> There is a lot I wouldn’t do for money, because I’m just not money-motivated. 1254. Applebees, the Outback, or TGI Friday’s? >> I don’t want to eat at any of these places. It would please me greatly if they all just disappeared off the face of the earth and were replaced by better restaurants, honestly. 1255. Which do you drink the most: juice, soda, milk, or water? >> Water.
1256. What sport do you like to watch the most? >> Figure skating. 1257. What sport do you like to play the most? >> I don’t. 1256. Do you write poetry? >> No. 1257. Are you aggressive? >> I can be. My assertiveness and even just my regular conversational style tends to be on the hard side, so it gets mistaken as aggression pretty easily. 1258. Have you ever fallen from grace? >> I don’t know what that means. 1259. Does it bother you when a band you like gets really popular? >> No. 1260. Has anyone ever won you a stuffed animal? If yes, did you name it after the person who won it for you? >> I don’t think so. That’d be cool, though. Especially if it’s a huge plushie. Probably wouldn’t name it after the person, though. 1261. Can you go one week without cursing at all? >> Maybe, but why would I put in all that effort? For what, really? 1262. What’s the best candy? >> I don’t know, I don’t eat it much. 1263. Can you lick your own nose? >> No. 1264. What song would you like to hear spontaneously in a public place (like a store)? >> I mean, any song that I like? 1265. Do you ever make others feel unwanted? >> I don’t know. If so, it wasn’t intentional. 1266. Do you think you have ever made others feel unwanted without realizing you were doing it? >> It’s certainly possible. 1267. Are you very sensitive to what other people are feeling and how they will react to certain things? >> No. I guess I could be, what with my penchant for hypervigilance, but my vigilance skews almost every response as negative, which isn’t exactly rooted in reality most of the time. So I wouldn’t consider that sensitivity, since it’s not actually sensing anything, it’s just making shit up so I feel awful and withdraw from the situation. Yay. 1268. Have you ever climbed a tree? >> No. 1269. Do you feel somehow different when the moon is full? >> I don’t know, I don’t keep track. It’s entirely possible, I guess. 1270. Who do you know that talks a lot but never really says anything? >> --- 1271. Is world peace possible? >> I don’t know. 1272. Who do you know that is making a huge life mistake yet you can’t stop them? What’s the mistake? >> --- 1273. Do you plan to own a home or rent an apartment for most of your life? >> I don’t have any plans. It’s not me that can afford any of this shit, after all. 1274. Would you enjoy going to a strip bar to see strippers (of whatever sex you find appealing)? >> Probably not. It’s just not appealing to me. Maybe I’d go to keep someone else company if it’s their first time and they’re nervous or something. 1275. Would you ever consider stripping in a sexual way for money? >> No. Not my thing. At all. 1276. Would you ever consider being a nude model for an artistic life drawing class for money? >> Probably not. I have body issues and I don’t want to sit still doing nothing for that long. 1277. What are 2 goals that you have? >> --- 1278. What are 2 negative traits that you have? >> --- 1279. Will these negative traits stop you from achieving your goals? >> --- 1280. Everyone knows that you are nice, fun, creative, and good but what are 4 other positive traits that you have? >> --- 1281. How often do you daydream about your wedding day? >> That already happened. I never daydreamed about it, though. 1282. If you were hiring someone for a job but could only ask him or her 3 questions in the interview what would you ask? >> --- 1283. If you were interviewing someone for the position of your new friend but could only ask 3 questions, what would they be? >> --- 1285. Wholesome - Conducive to sound health or well being; salutary: simple, examples: wholesome food; a wholesome climate, Promoting mental, moral, or social health: example: wholesome entertainment. Do you enjoy wholesome activities (sports, cooking, beach, family time, zoo, museums, etc.)? If yes what wholesome activity do you enjoy the most? >> I mean, sure. Just... stuff. I don’t feel like thinking about this too hard. Are you a wholesome person? >> Not particularly. 1286. When was your first kiss and what was it like? >> --- 1287. Are you quiet and shy? >> I’m quiet, but not necessarily shy. 1288. Are you bitchy, cranky, whiny, miserable, depressed, needy, mean, flaky, shallow, obnoxious, inconsiderate, nervous, and/or stuck up? >> I can be any of these things at any time, I’d imagine. 1289. Do you come off any of these ways even if you aren’t really like that? >> Maybe? 1290. Are you loud and unfriendly? >> Unfriendly, sure, but not loud. 1291. Can a positive attitude/good personality make up for someone being less than beautiful? >> What do you mean, “make up for”? This is what that sounds like to me: “I didn’t want to associate with you because I think you’re ugly, but you’re nice so I guess I’ll overlook it”. What the fuck, lmao. 1292. Can being totally beautiful and hot make up for a negative attitude/bad personality? >> And this sounds like “you’re an asshole but I like looking at you so I guess I’ll put up with it”. This all sounds incredibly dumb. 1293.What are you seeking? >> I’m not seeking anything. 1294. Could you see yourself as a future nun/monk? >> I don’t think so. The contemplative life has its attractions, but I’d get bored way too easily. 1295. Would you rather have a baby or get a pet? >> I’d rather not have either.  1296. What mistake do you repeat over and over? >> --- 1297. What do you think of the restaurant Hooters? >> I don’t think about it at all. I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen one in real life. 1298. What are 5 traits that make someone ugly? >> --- 1299. Do you hate when people tell you to smile? >> Of course I hate it. 1300. Do you like the writing of Douglas Adams? >> Eh. I mean, I can see how it’s clever and masterful, but that particular style of writing doesn’t hold my interest for very long.

7th King of Portugal and of the Burgundy Dynasty: King Afonso IV of Portugal, “The Brave”
Tumblr media
Reign: 7 January 1325 – 28 May 1357 Predecessor: Dinis
Afonso IV (8 February 1291 in Lisbon – 28 May 1357 in Lisbon), called the Brave (o Bravo), was King of Portugal from 1325 until his death. He was the only legitimate son of King Dinis of Portugal by his wife Isabel of Aragon.
Tumblr media
Afonso, born in Lisbon, was the rightful heir to the Portuguese throne. However, he was not Dinis' favourite son, the old king preferring his illegitimate son, Afonso Sanches. The notorious rivalry between the half brothers led to civil war several times. On 7 January 1325, Afonso's father died and he, Afonso IV, became king, whereupon he exiled his rival, Afonso Sanches, to Castile, and stripped him of all the lands and fiefdom given by their father, Dinis. From Castile, Afonso Sanches orchestrated a series of attempts to usurp the crown. After a few failed attempts at invasion, the brothers signed a peace treaty, arranged by Afonso's mother Queen Isabel.
In 1309, Afonso IV married Infanta Beatriz of Castile, daughter of King Sancho IV of Castile by his wife Maria de Molina. The first-born of this union was Infanta Maria of Portugal.
In 1325 Afonso XI of Castile entered a child-marriage with Constança Manuel of Castile, the daughter of one of his regents. Two years later, he had the marriage annulled so he could marry Afonso's daughter, Maria of Portugal. Maria became Queen of Castile in 1328 upon her marriage to Afonso XI, who soon became involved publicly with a mistress. Constança was imprisoned in a castle in Toro while her father, Juan Manuel, Prince of Villena, waged war against Afonso XI until 1329. Eventually, the two reached a peaceful accord after mediation by Juan del Campo, Bishop of Oviedo; this secured Constança's release from prison.
The public humiliation of his daughter led Afonso IV to have his son and heir, Pedro, marry the no less aggrieved Castilian infanta, Constança. Afonso subsequently started a war against Castile, peace arriving four years later, through the intervention of the Infanta Maria herself. A year after the peace treaty was signed in Seville, Portuguese troops played an important role in defeating the Moors at the Battle of Río Salado in October 1340.
Political intrigue marked the last part of Afonso IV's reign, although Castille was torn by civil war after Afonso XI died. Henry of Trastámara challenged the new King Pedro of Castile, who sent many Castilian nobles into exile in Portugal. Afonso's heir, Pedro, fell in love with his new wife's lady-in-waiting, Inês de Castro. Inês was the daughter of an important noble family from Galicia, with links (albeit illegitimate) to both the royal houses of Castile and Portugal. Her brothers were aligned with the Trastamara faction, and became favorites of crown prince Pedro, much to the dismay of others at the Portuguese court, who considered them Castilian upstarts. When Constança of Peñafiel died weeks after giving birth to their third child, Pedro began living openly with Inês, recognized all her children as his and repudiated the idea of marrying anyone other than Inês herself. His father refused to go to war again against Castile, hoping his heir's infatuation would end, and tried to arrange another dynastic marriage for Pedro.
The situation became worse as the years passed and the aging Afonso lost control over his court. His grandson and Pedro's only legitimate son, future king Fernando of Portugal, was a sickly child, while Inês' illegitimate children thrived. Worried about his legitimate grandson's life, and the growing power of Castile within Portugal's borders, Afonso ordered Inês de Castro first imprisoned in his mother's old convent in Coimbra, and then murdered in 1355.

He expected his son to give in and marry a princess, but the heir became enraged upon learning of his lover's decapitation in front of their young children. Pedro put himself at the head of an army and devastated the country between the Douro and the Minho rivers before he was reconciled to his father in early 1357. Afonso died almost immediately after, in Lisbon in May. He rests in Lisbon Cathedral with his wife.

Afonso IV's nickname the Brave alludes to his martial exploits. However, his most important accomplishments were the relative peace enjoyed by the country during his long reign and the support he gave to the Portuguese Navy. Afonso granted public funding to raise a proper commercial fleet and ordered the first Portuguese maritime explorations. The conflict with Pedro, and the explorations he initiated, eventually became the foundation of the Portuguese national epic, Os Lusíadas by Luís de Camões.

The dramatic circumstances of the relationship between father and son and Inês de Castro was used as the basis for the plot of more than twenty operas and ballets.
Tumblr media
On 12 September 1309, Afonso married Beatriz of Castile, daughter of Sancho IV of Castile, and María de Molina, and had four sons and three daughters. Unlike many scholars say that he is the only King without any illegitimate children, the fact is he also had a daughter out of wedlock.
Maria (1313 in Coimbra – 18 January 1357), was the wife of Afonso XI of Castile, and mother of the future king Pedro I of Castile. Due to the affair of her husband with his mistress Leonor de Guzmán "it was an unfortunate union from the start, contributing to dampening the relations of both kingdoms";
Afonso (1315 in Coimbra), heir to the throne, was a stillbirth. Buried at the disappeared Convento das Donas of the Dominican Order in Santarém;
Dinis (12 January 1317 - 18), heir to the throne, died a year after and was buried in Alcobaça Monastery;
Pedro (8 April 1320 – 18 January 1367), the first surviving male offspring, he succeeded his father. When his wife Constança died in 1345, Queen Beatriz took care of the education of the two orphans, the infantes Maria and Fernando, who later reigned as King Fernando I of Portugal;
Isabel (21 December 1324 – 11 July 1326), buried at the Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha in Coimbra;
João (23 September 1326 – 21 June 1327), buried at the Monastery of São Dinis de Odivelas;
Leonor (1328 in Coimbra – October 1348), born in the same year as her sister Maria's wedding, she married King Pedro IV of Aragon in November 1347 and died a year after her marriage succumbing to the Black Death.
He also had an illegitimate daughter:
D. Maria Afonso de Portugal (1316 - Lisbon, 1384), married in 1330 to D. Fernando de Castela, lord of Valencia de Campos, master of the Order of Santiago and son of D. Afonso de Castela, lord of Valencia and D Joana de Castro (1280 - 1327).

General Description of Cold Rolled Coil
Cold rolled steel coils, as known as CRS or CRC. Cold-rolled steel coils are a farther product that uses hot-rolled steel coils to do further processing. The further processed steel coil put in a cold rolling mill where the material is cooled (at room temperature) and then annealed and/or tempered. This process will make the steel coils become a smaller dimensional tolerances and a wider surface finish result. In China market, the product name prefers to name as cold rolling, but the correct product name should be flat sheet or coils.
Cold rolled steel coil is made of hot rolled steel coil.
The surface scale can be removed during pickled treatment and the finish mill. The cold rolled is farther and thinner than the hot rolled coil. The main difference of the hot and cold rolled steel coil is the thickness, surface treatment and the rolling temperature.
Main Advantages of Cold Rolled Coil
Cold rolled steel/coils offer a variety of cold rolled steel sheet and coil products and value-added services to meet customer needs. Huaro’s cold rolled steel service capabilities include slitting, shearing, blanking, leveling, degreasing and brushing and metallurgical support.
Production Procedure of Cold Rolled Coil
Cold rolled steel is rolled at room temperature, below its recrystallization temperature, which enables better control over finished product shape, thickness, dimensions and surface finish. The cold rolling process helps to obtain the CR coils from the cooling (in the cold rolling mill) of hot rolled pickled products (made from finest steel), that are reduced to much finer thickness with increased strength via strain hardening (up to almost 20%). The resulting CR coils are smaller as compared to the coils formed by the hot rolling process, and they are less ductile. They possess improved surface finish and tighter tolerances.
Application of Cold Rolled Coil
Cold rolled steel coils application field usually in which high standard of dimensional tolerances, strength and surface finish quality. The normal industry field for cold rolled steel coils will as below:

May 18th 1313 saw Robert the Bruce invade the Isle of Man.
Dates differ a wee bit on this, but they all say it was mid May when Robert the Bruce landed at Ramsey on the Isle of Man ‘with a multitude of ships.
This account tells part of the story from  Chronicles of the time.
18th of May, Lord Robert [Bruce], King of Scotland, put in at Ramsay with a large number of ships, and on the following Sunday went to the nunnery at Douglas, where he spent the night, and on Monday laid siege to the Castle of Rushen, which was defended by the Ilord Dungali Mac Dowyle  against the said Lord King until the Tuesday after the Feast of St.
The English retook the Island in 1315, probably in response to the Scots invasion of Ireland.
I love the pic of the Bruce and Rushden Castle but suspect it has been photoshopped ;)

Fanfic - How To Save Your Honeymoon - 1/1
Summary: After Ralph interrupts their Honeymoon YET AGAIN Barry has to go big to save his Honeymoon.
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1291
In 2.5 seconds Barry zipped them both back to their honeymoon.
The cold steel interior of Star Labs melted away to the warm sands and bright blue waters of Bora Bora. Barry could feel the tension in his shoulders melt away as the heat of the bright sun hit his skin.  He wasted no time in sinking back down on the lounge chairs they had been sitting in before Ralph rudely interrupted them. He turned boneless in the chair, closing his eyes briefly and listening to the sounds of the waves crashing gently against the shore.
“It really is hard to run in flip-flops,” Barry grumbled after a minute as he kicked off his shoes in order to massage his sore feet. “We should seriously consider locking Ralph out of the main system. Cisco told me last week Ralph almost caused a core melt down when he tried to order take out.”
Barry frowned in confusion when his normally chatty wife, and god did he love calling Iris his wife, remained silent. Using his hand to shield his eyes from the bright sun Barry glanced up to see Iris still hadn't sat down in her chair yet. She remained standing, her shoulders a tense line and her hands balled at her sides. Barry knew from the thin press of her lips that her anger had yet to dissipate.
Not that he blamed her. The two of them had barely been on their honeymoon for two days and they'd been interrupted three times. Barry was reaching the point of wanting to toss their communicators into the ocean for some peace and quiet. At least the initial interruptions did require Barry and Iris's help but Ralph's recent mistake was the last straw.
Seeing Iris this angry made Barry wish he didn't hold her back from decimating Ralph.
But now back on the sunny beaches Barry wanted all thoughts of interruptions to vanish from her mind.
“Iris?” Barry reached out to touch her hand. “Sweetie come sit down and relax.”
Iris didn't budge a inch but continued to scowl.
“I should of strangled him,” Iris continued to mumble under her breath. “What kind of idiot sets off a Code 11 alarm?”
“Ralph is a special kind of idiot,” Barry agreed. “And its my responsibility to house train him but for now lets forget about him.”
Iris hummed in agreement but the tension in her body told Barry she wasn't about to forgive and forget anytime soon.
Which made Barry realize he'd have to pull out of big guns to get his honeymoon back on track.
“I want to show you something,” Barry stood back up and offered his hand to her, “Help you take your mind off things.”
“No Barry its okay,” Iris's anger suddenly deflated from her. “I'll be fine in about a minute. You don't need to cheer me up.”
Barry still offered up his hand to her convinced more than ever she needed this.
Iris rolled her eyes at his persistence but gave him a fond smile. She placed her hand in Barry's as he used his speed to whisk them off. The world blurred in the span of Iris blinking her eyes before coming back into sharp focus.
Barry brought her to a scene right out of a postcard. Completely surrounding them was lush dark green jungle. Away from the constant bustle of the resort you could hear the squawks of tropical birds. Directly in front of them was a small waterfall. The water crashed over the sandy stone into a large oval pool.
Iris found herself mesmerized by the azure blue water that was so clear you could see the pebbles glinting at the sandy bottom.
“Oh Barry,” Iris breathed out, “Where is this?”
“You like it?” Barry said clearly pleased with himself. “This is one of the smaller islands close to the resort that they haven't developed on yet.”
“So no one else is here?” Iris asked.
“Nope,” Barry grinned proudly. “We're the only people here.”
Iris didn't reply back but her fingers made quick work of the sarong wrapped around her waist. Before the silk material could float to the ground Iris whipped off the lei of flowers from her neck.
Barry's eyes darkened as Iris's fingers moved to the straps of her bathing suit. Slowly she peeled the material downwards until finally Iris stepped out of her bathing suit and tossing it over her shoulder.
Iris now stood completely naked in front of a dumbstruck Barry. Normally Iris wasn't the type to strip down out in the open in broad daylight. But Iris figured if you can't get naked in front of you husband then whats the point of marriage.
“Ir-Iris...” Barry said in a strangled voice.
“I'm going for a swim,” Iris tried to keep her voice even. “Care to join me?”
Iris turned around to walk towards the inviting pool of water. She made certain to add an extra swing to her hips because she knew Barry's eyes would be glued to her ass.
With both feet in the water Iris let out a pleased sigh. The temperature was perfect, not too cold but still refreshing in the tropical climate. Iris waded in until the water reached her waist. She glanced over her shoulder to see Barry frantically trying to dispose of his clothes.
Iris barely had time to let out a laugh before she felt the solid press of Barry's chest against her back. A spray of water misted the air from Barry running through the water in his urgency to get to her. Iris leaned back loving the feeling of his bare skin against hers.
Iris sighed softly as Barry's hands traveled across her body. Touching the taunt muscles of her stomach to the curves of her hips. Barry ducked his head down to leave a trail of kisses from her neck to her shoulders. His teeth nipped at her soft brown skin before he soothed it over with a soft kiss. Iris could feel her body shudder under his attention as waves of heat rolled through her.
Barry had always been physically affectionate in their relationship. At the start Barry took every opportunity to shyly take her hand to pull her in closer. As their relationship deepened Barry became more tactile. When alone together he never missed an chance to be touch to her. His hands, his lips and his arms always in close contact to her. Now with them married Barry couldn't seem to get enough of her.
If only it could always be like this.
“Do you feel more relaxed?” Barry whispered against the curve of her neck.
“Hmmm very,” Iris's breath hitched when she felt Barry's cup her breasts.
“What do you think about that waterfall?” Barry said while nipping at her ear lobe.
Iris didn't answer as her mind was fogged up with pleasure. Her husband's thumbs were brushing lightly against her nipples. She could feel hardness against the curve of her ass and it was completely distracting her.
“Iris?” Barry chuckled in amusement. “The Waterfall?”
“What about it?” Iris said while biting back a moan.
“How do you feel about you and I moving this to the waterfall?” Barry asked.
Iris glanced over at the tumbling waters falling over the rocks and the image of her and Barry standing underneath the water with their bodies intertwined was too tantalizing to resist.
“Lead the way Flash,” Iris answered.
Iris let out a shriek of laughter as Barry gathered her up in his arms to speed them over to the waterfall all thoughts of Ralph and annoying interruptions completely leaving Iris's mind.
