Tell me about The Many Stories, I'm curious!
Oh god, this one is part of an era I forgot about... the Reminders app era. ~2021, potentially older than that since I think I would bump up the "dates" on reminders. 2021 I made a Google doc file but it was just porting the notes and adding to them. I started writing for it on 4theworlds... who knows when, the dates are missing. I didn't get very far before putting it on hold since it's hard for me to do poetry and also the romance novel style one chapter called for; been taking note of poetry lesson videos and a catalogue of Jane Austen movies. But I definitely will do it one day, if not because I've grown fond of the OCs born from this.
It first started as just a Ripa 'Moramee thing, but then I came up with a Jul 'Mdama sequel. But basically it's an anthology of short stories written by OC Sangheili authors, the first one being hypothetical origin stories of Ripa 'Moramee and the second one being debate on a preferable ending to Jul 'Mdama than the reality. The format they have (the in-universe texts broken apart by an overarching narrative of the authors' discussion) is influenced by Touhou Project's Symposium of Post-mysticism (off-topic, but imagine if Halo did lore books like Touhou). There's also one other thing, not yet on 4theworlds, that's technically part of the series, but only because of the in-universe author OC, and that story idea is "what if Sangheili had their own version of Bram Stoker's Dracula".
OCs of note so far: (all the "Ripa origin story" authors; the ideas for the "Jul's 'ending' story" will likely require a cast change)
Mari 'Anton: Yes, her name is inspired by Marie Antoinette, I forgot why. She's the resident romance writer of the friend group; and while her work and passion suggests she is a hopeless romantic, and her lack of lovers causing rumors of high standards and diva-ness, she's actually what humans would call aroace. She's fascinated by non-platonic relationships as a study and romance fiction as an artform, yet she has no interest in partaking in it herself and it probably causes some inner turmoil since I imagine Sangheili don't have a proper term & concept for such a thing. Since recent Halo lore since her creation has given us the term "studymaster", I think she would semi-unironically call herself as "studymaster of love". Also looking at my notes... I think I accidentally made her personality "undiagnosed autism"?? She's subdued around most people, only growing passionate and energetic around those she trusts.
Fuyo 'Naham: An infertile woman who copes with it by helping with others' child-rearing, and later writing wholesome children's stories when her cross-species interactions lead her to discovering the genre (headcanoning that Sangheili aren't as "soft" in raising their children, their bedtime stories probably are more like ye olden folktale of the "there's an old lady in the worlds that will eat you if you misbehave" variety). She has since discovered the concept of adoption but so far has felt too much anxiety to do it. Within the friend group, while she doesn't start as much chaos, she is a frequent enabler of it. If Teka is "thinks something is stupid, tells the person to not do it", then she's "thinks something is stupid, insists the person should do it".
Teka 'Suham: His official role in the story is acting as mediator and transcriber. His unofficial role is to go "wtf are you talking about Jessie" to everyone's ideas and deliver the "but what if 'Moramee was just Like That for no reason" punchline in the first story. He's the least popular author in the group, specializing in technical writing and his biggest accolade being his name showing up in some textbook credits. But behind-the-scenes he's a dear friend to all these famous writers and frequent beta-reader and editor for them.
Thoda 'Masumai: A blademaster that started dabbling in poetry, becoming famous for both; the older he gets, the more he focuses on poetry over the sword, to the point it's hard to believe he used to be a master swordsman. The oldest of the friend group, vibes being very positive, optimistic, and "romantic thinking" (as in "romanticizing", not romance itself). No matter what shit gets thrown his way during heated discussions, he can never get put into a bad mood. Which is good, because basically almost all his friends and colleagues are insane /jk.
Keza 'Kasaj: The sci-fi author; likes science to the point he started using fiction as an excuse to showcase his theories. His energy with his writing is like if "Touch-tone Telephone" by Lemon Demon was little more hinged and about real science over conspiracy theories; I definitely feel him in the lyrics "I'm an expert, just like you!" because he has a tendency to seek out and badger scientists of all species with his questions about their research in his quest to have a grand overall "theory of everything", and then trying to get others to hear his out through disguising it as fun stories. And due to Sangheili being behind in scientific study, he has had extensive cross-species socialization.
Cazo 'Mulcal: He's the resident horror author, also in-universe writes the Sangheili Dracula story. He's not taken as seriously due to the culture being tough on "being afraid" and lowkey a subconscious need to discredit him as a coping mechanism towards fear. Like, "ha, how silly, to even think about little bugs that invade the body and slowly remake everything of your insides until you aren't yourself anymore and the slow descent into madness during the process... ha, t-that's silly, how would even be a-afraid of such a ridiculous concept". Personality-wise he's the least developed, but I imagine he has quite the imagination and his own hot takes on the nature of fear.
Relatively recently (and by that I mean during the process of making this, since making this caused me to think about the project and that's a slippery slope into developing new ideas and reviewing directions) I got the idea that there's a human OC translating the text to English. And now I've got the idea that the Sangheili authors have their own Thoughtsแต€แดน about that human's translations and the art of translation itself (ranging from insulted to intrigued). But that's still too new and unexplored.

Sangheili Bracket Round 1 Match 25
More info below:
Mahkee 'Chava:
Debuted in Halo 5: Guardians (voice only)
A Sangheili shipmistress within the Swords of Sanghelios, she was present during the final battles of the Blooding Years civil war during Oct. 2553. She would be the one to pick up and drop off Fireteam Osiris when they first arrived at Sanghelios, continuing to give them support and information as they battled Covenant forces on their way to meet with the Arbiter Thel 'Vadam. Once they finally met up with the Arbiter, she would pick them up and take them to a nearby SOS military base. Later, she took part in the Battle of Sunaion, once again offering Osiris support via deploying forces that aided them. However, she could not ferry them to their target of the Guardian, but instead informed them of a passage they could take to reach it.
Additional commentary: Her relationship to Oebrin and Silset 'Chava - the weaponsmith brothers mentioned in lore - is unknown, but some people believe they're her sons. Also, thanks to doing this tourney, I realized the similarities between the 'Chava name and Arbiter Fal 'Chavamee's name. Either a separate 'Chavam name exists, or Fal might be a distant ancestor to Mahkee. Surprised I haven't seen it brought up before.
Crei 'Ayomuu:
Debuted in Halo: Outcasts
An Oath Warden - skilled investigator and a relentless stalker, master at tactics most Sangheili would never dare to think up. In 2559, he was hired to track down human xenoarchaeologist Keely Iyuska after she failed to appear for a meeting; his client, Studymaster Eto 'Saljhoo, was promised first pick of any artifacts she recovered on Netherop in exchange for funding said expedition. Tracking her to kreche warrens of a tenement island near Kolaar Manufactorum in Vadam, his deployment of spy drones called Eyes would unintentionally cause a skirmish amongst the Sangheili residents. He would lose his target in the confusion and be forced to retreat following the arrival of Created armigers also pursuing Iyuska. Following the failure, he would meet with Arbiter Thel 'Vadam to request assistance, piquing the Arbiter's interest with the knowledge that her research could lead him to a weapon capable of ending the Created's tyranny, as well as her connections to Spartan Olympia Vale and the likelihood that she would be going after the weapon for humanity. Crei would join the Arbiter in arriving at Netherop; nine days later, they landed on the planet, being accosted by UNSC castaways unaware that the Human-Covenant war had ended. While the Arbiter attempted to negotiate with Lieutenant Commander Amalea Petrov, Crei would spray blue aerosol in her face to make her more cooperative, to the Arbiter's ire. As they continued to talk following a devastating attack from the very weapon they were seeking, Crei would attempt to steer the Arbiter to make less honest decisions, but the Arbiter would stubbornly refuse and successfully earn some trust from Petrov. After the group met up with Spartan Vale and the forces she brought, Crei would continue to express doubt and insist the Arbiter should fight them for the weapon, "advice" that would continue to be ignored and rebuked. Later, in the temporary underground tunnels, Crei would butt into the conversation between the Arbiter and "Worldmaster" Nizat 'Kvarosee in an attempt to help the former in talking down the latter from his Covenant zealotry, but talks would still turn sour. Following this, he would reveal he had discreetly put a tracker on their human captive, helping lead the charge in pursuing whilst putting his intellect to good use in figuring out oddities with the tunnels and their targets' movements before anyone else. Once caught up with Nizat, Crei would unleash poison gas, only giving the Arbiter a heads up to seal his armor before doing so. He would kill one of Nizat's men in the ensuing combat, while the Arbiter dueled with Silent Shadow Meduz 'Ra'ashai before a breach in his armor made him pass out from further gas Crei unleashed on the battlefield without warning Thel; prior to that, though, an explosion would signal that Vale had used them as a diversion while she went on ahead in breaching and infiltrating the stranded Covenant's base. Once the Arbiter awakened, the survivors in the tunnel loyal to him finally reached the Inner Sanctum, where Crei once again attempted to turn the Arbiter against Spartan Vale. It once again failed and Crei reluctantly agreed to not kill Nizat and Tam 'Lakosee, given they were the only ones who could recognize the Divine Hand the group was after. Then, inside the Inner Sanctum, the group would discover the Banished attacking their ships above the planet - and they would realize that Crei's client 'Saljhoo was a front for the Banished, to Crei's shock. However, that would not stop him from later handing over part of the Divine Hand to Atriox himself when he and the Arbiter conducted a peaceful parley. Unknowingly, the Arbiter had expected and hoped Crei to do this, as he and Vale decided it was better for the Banished to take the destructive weapon and potentially destroy themselves alongside Cortana. With his contract fulfilled, he took up the offer to leave with the Banished, suspecting the others on Netherop would no longer be so "friendly" with him.
Additional commentary: I had to skim through parts of Outcasts to finish this description (since Halopedia is still incomplete on that front) and aaaahhhh I fell even more in love with his character and his dynamic with Thel. I really hope we see him again! I really hope him and Thel cross paths again! I'm kinda sad he's up against Mahkee since I love them both, but only one can reach round 2...

Draig y Lleaud: Dragon of the Moon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scotland, late 12th Century AD. Caitriona, a young female Scottish dragon studymaster known as a dragonologist, was striving to learn about the legendary Welsh Dragon of the Moon, the Draig y Lleaud. The Draig y Lleaud, a dark turquoise night dragon known for flying through the night skies of Wales, was a vicious creature, but a beauty to look at due to striking stars located on its underwings. However, Caitriona was destined to tame the famous dragon and learn more about its living condition.
Caitriona later went out on horseback to check out the dragon's caveโ€“once it turned to the darkest night of the day. The journey to the Welsh draconic territory, which took two months, was tiring. Still, Caitriona made it. However, the Welsh Dragon of the Moon was nowhere to be found. Then, without warning, Caitriona later went into a dragon's cave. Little did she know that it belonged to Draig y Lleaudโ€“the Welsh Dragon of the Moon.
As the dragon asked about who dared to enter its cave, Caitriona answered with some dragon food. The legendary Dragon of the Moon decided to trust Caitriona, and took the food right off of her. Could Draig y Lleaud possibly have earned the trust of a human at long last?
That was when Caitriona learned of its backstory. Apparently, Draig y Lleaud lost all trust in humans because it was exiled from its night kingdom in Scotland about three hundred years ago, and the humans were the ones responsible for the exile. However, Caitriona was no ordinary Scottish person. As a dragonologist, she was destined to learn about all dragons in the world. That was the point that Draig y Lleaud began to trust the only Scottish person: Caitriona.
Caitriona decided to remain in Welsh territory from that day on, taking good care of the dragon, and helping it to earn its trust to humans once again. It was the first time in almost three hundred years that Draig y Lleaud has earned any trust in humankind.
And that was the story of the Welsh Dragon of the Moon, Draig y Lleaud, and the Scottish dragonologist Caitriona.

A study I did a while back of one of my favorite artists. John white Alexander. I love his colours and brush strokes. I did this study when I did the art camp with @noahbradley a few years ago. I did quite a few commissions to save up money to get on that course and I always tell everyone to give it a go if theyโ€™re after some improvements. Really changed my thought process on art. #study #illustration #johnwhitealexander #studymaster #studyingthemaster #oilpainting #digitalart https://www.instagram.com/p/B-mbhHgjR78/?igshid=1q2umzoamkveh
