I think a fight between Jiren and Gohan would have been great to see. They are so different from each other, but they can learn a lot from each other because of that. For example, Jiren could learn teamwork because Gohan loves teamwork.

They could even discuss tactics for the missions they have to succeed. Jiren could teach Gohan how to be more active in training because Gohan stays too long inactive so that he never really manages to stay at the same level as Goku and Vegeta even though he has much more potential than them.

Jiren could also teach Gohan how to control his anger, how to use that anger to strengthen himself even more. Even though he, too, has trouble controlling his anger. But Jiren doesn't usually let his emotions get in the way of his judgments and movements. He strikes knowing already how much power he must use to stun his opponent, never to kill him.

Jiren is dedicated to justice after all. Gohan does too, but he relied too much on Vegeta and Goku to save the day. But he has to realize that one day, they might not be able to beat the opponent. So if he is the last line of defense for Earth. He must be more than ready to face this threat.

That's why I think Jiren would make a great teacher for Gohan, and Gohan could also teach Jiren a lot. Their relationship would perfectly increase their strengths and maybe also get rid of some of their weaknesses that might be the reason they don't always win a battle.

One last thing I want to add about Jiren. Jiren is a very powerful warrior, but he also knows how to use his body to make each of his actions extremely painful. For example, if he aims to throw a punch. He will use all his weight and his body so that he can inflict considerable damage.
