|| 泉 || :: the VAMPIRE was used to the darkness, her eyes having adjusted to the night itself had already glued upon this bloodthirst vampire who was chasing an unfortunate individual, hoping to feed upon him. she had been tracking this one down for a few nights already, as it was agile and could blend into the SHADOW itself. its hunger, however, caused it to reveal itself and before it would LAUNCH to bite this person, the HUNTER leapt from the two-story building, swinging her SCYTHE to cut off its head, causing CRIMSON LIQUID to plaster over the area, and some got on the stranger being backed to the bricked wall. hazel orbs landed upon the person, though her face tainted slightly with blood, her voice was of genuine concern.

─「ヴァイオレット」─  it was the first time she had ever spent CHRISTMAS with someone. the ex-soldier couldn’t recall the time when she was given the luxury of relishing in festive and joyous occasion like this one. it wasn’t like she hated it or anything, but being who she was and how PEOPLE’S LIVES were on the line with each mission and battle, she wasn’t allowed to be anything more than a simple tool and a weapon to bring victory to the ARMY. how could she be selfish as to think about enjoying herself when other soldiers were fighting on the battlefield ?

                and even after the WAR itself, the ex-soldier still didn’t know what she was supposed to do when it comes to holidays like this one. most of the time, she wandered into town as it was decorated in FESTIVE LIGHTS, beautiful sights of people holding hands and spending time together was the proof of PEACE she brought with her service to the country, so she was okay with not celebrating it like others do.

                but this YEAR was different. this year --- she had him to be with her and how he wasn’t going to take her not celebrating christmas despite everything. now, both of them who were so used to being ALONE had someone to call their own. it was still a concept she was trying to get used to --- that he was her SOULMATE. he was her person, and she was his. they were created in pairs, with their feelings linked to one another. their hands were linked, and despite how they both wouldn’t be able to FEEL the sensation of their digits intertwined, somehow, the gesture itself was more than enough to make that feeling of warmth rise within her chest. and sometimes she wondered if he would be able to FEEL this with their soulmate link or not. it’s ... kind of an embarrassing thought, but assuring all the same.

                it was a kind of comfort to know that they weren’t ALONE. that they’re two pieces of the same mould. their souls were connected.

                her thoughts came to a HALT when those cerulean optics found themselves landed upon a certain ivy. the memory of the DAY he had educated her on what it was and the tradition that came with it slowly flowed into her mind. she recalled him TAKING THEM DOWN in a hurry after his explanation, but he probably had missed one without realizing.

                “ lukas --- ” his name escaped her lips in a quiet manner, garnering his attention and without a warning, she took a step closer. gloved hand that wasn’t linked to his own came to his shirt, only to smoothly grasped the fabric and pulled his taller frame towards her. he might be STURDIER physically but her background as a soldier gave her much leverage on strength. however, this time, she made sure to use the least force in order to not hurt him, and with a flutter of a movement as her GOLDEN LOCKS moved with her motion, lips found themselves pressing ever-so-tenderly over his own mouth.

                another kiss under the mistletoe.

                she didn’t realize she was holding her breath a little, but the softest of a touch lasted for a MOMENT longer, as though she was reluctant to pull away so easily. as though ... she wanted that moment to last if for a split second more. his lips were warm, slightly chapped by the dryness of the WINTER’S AIR but somehow it caused the organ in her left chest to pound. she didn’t know why ... but a kiss with him really made her feel like she was FLOATING in clouds.

                warm puff of breath was released when she pulled back, a slight twitch of her gloved hand against his and a small clutch to his cloth of her other palm a reminder that they both were real. that they were ALIVE, and they were together.

                he was the greatest gift she had ever received.

                “ i’m glad ... my soulmate is you ... lukas. ”

lukas hasn't celebrated his birthday since he was ten. sometimes he forgot it, sometimes his family forgot it. it all happened because they were so focused on caring for his grandmother everyone's birthday kind of became na afterthought. it's also why he's so surprised if anyone remembers his birthday; because he never bothers remembering it himself.
