One of the last of the classics that I'll be bringing back for the moment. Sunstone was the first of the gemsonas that I ever made, and honestly, it shows. I had an extreme obsession with fire when I was younger and all OCs I made, the first ones, had something to do with fire. This was no different.

His worn, leather vest and durable pants are both functional and resilient, capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of the mines. Heavy-duty leather boots complete his outfit, scuffed and dust-covered from countless expeditions.

Personality: Oregon Sunstone is a personification of determination and resilience, embodying the relentless pursuit of fortune that defined the gold rush era. His personality is shaped by the harsh realities of mining life; he is tough, resourceful, and fiercely independent. Despite the grueling nature of his work, he carries a sense of optimism and an unyielding belief in the promise of striking it rich.

He speaks with a distinct Southern Texas drawl, his voice carrying the slow, deliberate cadence of someone who is used to taking their time. His accent adds to his rugged charm, often infusing his words with a sense of laid-back confidence. He is a man of few words, preferring to let his actions speak for him, but when he does speak, his words are often laced with wit and wisdom earned from years of experience.

Rejuvenation - Sunstone

Table of Contents

            I was the success of a fruitless endeavor by the Gem Empire. The illustrious Yellow Diamond and radiant White Diamond moved forward with attempting to quell unruly worlds for colonization. Worlds that were ripe with raw resources but were wild and unpredictable. Dangerous to any other gem that wasn’t a Diamond.

            Amongst the first of the worlds they had used for experimentation, the Diamonds planted the seed of my gem, among others, into a fiery volcanic world. Fires raged and lava covered the surface in an ocean. The sky covered in a perpetual smog that rained debris from the eruptions and explosions daily. Only a Diamond could survive such conditions. Only a Diamond could set everything in motion. Until my emergence.

            I didn’t exist before that moment, but then I did. I remembered the warmth of the planet I had been incubating in fleeing from around me. There was an unpleasant cold and empty vacuum around me. It had been suffocating, then it wasn’t. I took form aboard a passing ship under the command of Yellow Diamond’s soldiers.

            I remembered that first encounter like it was yesterday. Yellow Diamond herself was surprised by my existence that she personally retrieved me from that ship. It was back on Homeworld that I learned the nature of myself. I was off color, but one that was an exception to their rules. A Sunstone that was scorched and charred black from the fires of the planet. My gem had been imbued with the fires of that planet that it greedily stole and destroyed the planet. It was this fire that was my greatest weakness and strength.

            This fire made me different from all the other gems. This fire made me alive and not at the same time. Like any fire, they needed to feed and tend to me. They needed to ensure that fire never died, or they’d lose me. A perfect weapon to wipe out all organic resistances that threatened the Gem Empire’s expansion. I had been the perfect tool in Yellow Diamond’s arsenal. A perfect off color with a fatal flaw. I was alive.

            I hated my role within that empire. I hated using my very life to end others. I understood long ago that my fire was destruction, but it didn’t need to be. However, so long as I lived within that Empire, I would be this destructive force. Until a rebellion grew from within.

            When Blue Diamond failed to quell the unrest and a full out war broke out, I was sent to the front lines. I was expected to eradicate other gems for the first time. I was to burn the world that they fought to protect. If only I was on color, then perhaps the war would have ended differently, but opportunity rose, and I took it.

            I turned against Homeworld at that moment. I turned my weapon on them, shattering those that dared call me comrade. I would have joined the rebels if not for a lucky Lapis Lazuli spotting me and used water to extinguish my flames. My form gave out and my fire retreated within my gem. I would have reformed, but everything was cold and wet around me. Unsuitable for a fire to start.

            It is here I sit within my gem as I look out at the dark waters around me. It is here I will remain, trapped within my own prison, never to reform. Forgotten and left to die. A fitting end to Yellow Diamond’s little weapon of mass destruction.

Another Tf2Gem! Presenting a gem so manly he’s two gems, The Soldier!

The components of Sunstone were assigned together under Blue Diamond during the war - a bold, brash, and reckless Ruby, and a calculating, calm, and ruthless Obsidian. They were tasked to gather information on the tactics and leaders of the Rebels, and were efficient at their duties - Ruby keeping Obsidian safe while Obsidian tracked important Rebels. However, the cool Obsidian began to feel simultaneously jealous and overprotective of his bodyguard. How dare he be able to express his emotions - and if anything happened to him I’d shatter everyone else and then myself. When they were finally spotted by some Crystal Gems, Ruby tried to hold them off to save Obsidian, but Obsidian refused, and when shoving his stalwart IDIOT of a friend out of the way of a shattering blow, only one body hit the ground. One very confused orange man. Who promptly bolted, both sides in agreement that retreat was a Good Idea. Later tracked down by a Skinny Mookaite, the new gem joined up, half out of fear of poofing, and half out of Finally Understanding Why War Was Happening - what someone might do to protect something/one they care for. When sent off by their Boss Buddy Bismuth, along with that Mookaite and a fix-it type, he survived the Revenge of the Diamonds, and they were forced to unfuse - but causing subtle mayhem was Obsidian’s specialty, and keeping him safe was Rubys favorite job. When Mookaite got in touch, with news of surviving Crystal Gems, the pair ditched the Grand Library they’d been working in, and fused back practically the second the ship was out of Gempire range.
