Akihito apprehensively sits on one of the bar stools, eyes darting between Asami and Kirishima; the latter of which, has set the bags down on the counter, pulling out an assortment of ingredients. Asami reclaims the cup, fills it again, and sets it down in front of Akihito. Reluctantly, he lifts the cup to his lips, sipping at its contents while keeping a watchful eye.  "So? Why am I here?" Akihito asks again, seeing as no one else is going to break the silence first. He just wishes his voice wasn't so weak and hoarse; it really puts a damper on attempting to sound authoritative and stern. Asami simply stares, golden gaze seemingly piercing straight through Akihito, causing him to shift uncomfortably on his stool, yet he refuses to break eye contact. Asami leans back against the counter, next to where Kirishima is preparing some fruits. Compared to Akihito's first exposure to Asami, this one comes off as significantly more relaxed. Maybe it's because he's dressed down in a simple shirt and slacks, while Kirishima still dons a full suit. Akihito wonders if Kirishima only owns suits, which quickly brings the mental image of him sleeping in a full three-piece, with the added details of a nightcap and sleep mask. Akihito has to bring the cup to his mouth to hide the smile threatening to spread across his face. He's trying to keep this conversation serious, dammit! This isn't the time for his brain to conjure up such ridiculous images.

✓Yes to a countryside house with Asami just sitting in the porch watching Akihito complain that he never helps with the damn tomato vines and now they are all dying, and whose stupid idea was it anyways to grow tomatoes because he's so damn tired of those stupid, stupid Bloody Mary massage things and maybe next time it should be Asami getting some vodka up his ass...

(To which Asami does not respond - instead he just smirks and whispers a "maybe" that goes completely unnoticed by a still huffing and puffing Takaba Akihito)

✓In addition to a country house - because, why not, the man is probably richer than Jeff Bezos by now - Asami gets them an island as well because he kinda misses those days when it was just them, the octopus and those weird mushrooms.

Akihito is obviously not amused at first because that is so excessive ("...an island? Really? You have way too much money") but then he sees Kirishima and Suoh sweating under the scorching sun, takes pity on them and decides to cook them some fish and for the first time in forever the four of them are having lunch together and it just feels like... Ya know... Family.

(Needless to say, Asami feels the same but he is too proud to admit it.)

Do Kirishima and Suoh see Takaba as a nuisance?

So Suoh has witnessed Aki do some cool things, like this:

Y’know, basically save himself from an armed thug with no help, thank you very much, but I’ve got this, Suoh. And afterward, Suoh seems to treat Aki with equanimity. So I think that for as much as he thinks about Aki at all, Suoh is okay with him. (Suoh dropped entirely out of the story after Naked Truth, so we haven’t seen his reaction to Asami and Aki moving in together.)

Kirishima though…he’s kind of pissy about Aki, isn’t he? I have this head canon about Kirishima based on absolutely nothing other than I like it, that Kirishima was someone Asami inherited. Like maybe he was the secretary to one of the executives of a big corporation Asami raided and took over. Naturally devoted to whoever is in charge, Kirishima’s inherent professionalism required that he embraced all of Asami’s activities, legal or otherwise, with the same brisk efficiency. A fresh but disorderly breeze like Akihito is bound to grate on a personality like Kirishima’s. He does, however, begrudgingly acknowledge that Aki has a relaxing effect on the boss, and I bet Kirishima knew Aki was at that hotel in Graceful Summer Holiday when he sent Asami there for R&R. 

So I like to think that Kirishima finds Aki a nuisance who has his uses.

He wonders if this is how he dies. Trapped inside this cold, dark prison. He wonders if this is what it's like to be thrown away; cast aside by his creators when he was deemed a "failure".

Compared to the others, he supposes he is. He also supposes this death is only slightly above dying back at the lab due to some unfortunate "mishap" like so many before him.

He never expected to be this lonely.

Akihito spends the better part of his life in a lab, scientists hell-bent on creating the perfect specimen; however, when he doesn't appear to quite be what they want, he's abandoned. It's only by fluke, that he meets a man named Asami Ryuichi, the CEO of the leading Robotics company SiON.

When I read the new chapter, this picture broke my heart. I felt so sorry for both Akihito and Asami for being forced to go back to their reality. To go back to hell. It was, after all, a mere dream. 

What happened to the island was a beautiful insight in their actual feelings for each other. It was just what we needed to understand how much they love each other. 

It’s obvious Akihito loves Asami since some chapters but he wants to be sure Asami loves him back. Because the guy never displays any kind of emotion in front of anyone. That man is so used of protecting himself it becomes a habit even in front of his own lover. 

Ok, perhaps past experiences with some lovers didn’t turn good for Asami but once again we don’t know anything from his past. 

I just loved this island because Asami reassured Akihito about his true feelings towards him. It’s like he can be open about what’s inside his own heart. No one is there to watch them. No one is there to judge them. No foe is around. 

They could be themselves. It’s something I loved deeply even it made me blush with the level of intimacy displayed. 

But it’s also I appreciated deeply because it was an obvious hint of the storm which is meant to come. To the future hell we will see and watch. It was just an excuse for what’s going to happen. 

All we can do is to support them with all of our hearts because I’m sure sensei cooks us something very nasty for the future. 

Oh, don’t worry, I don’t expect sensei to split those two again. Perhaps they are going to be at opposite sides of the same area but not that far away again. I mean they are at least going to fight side by side as true allies. As true assets for each other. 

I know they can’t be at peace as long as those people who hate them, who want to bring them down, to destroy them, they are never going to find peace. That peace we saw during the island’s chapter. 

That’s why I feel so sorry for them. But once again it’s needed. If they stay here, their problems aren’t solved, they are just cutting themselves from the rest of the entire world. 

They still have their lives. They still have their own goals. They still have to defeat very bad people. 

Reality is harsh but it’s the truth. And you have to fight reality to be really yourself, to be sure nothing bad happens again.

Why do you think we never see Suoh's eyes? We see them during the original few chapters, but the characters seem to have gone through a redesign since then, or maybe Sensei's style just changed. Before, I thought it was just to make him seem ominous. Now that we know he's brothers with Michihiro-san, it really highlights the difference between them.

That’s a good point, Anon. I had never actually thought about it, and now that you mentioned it, I went back to the Temporary Paradise extra and noticed that the ominous eyes were already there (and the scanlation in Mangago is from 2011, so it’s safe to assume sensei chose to portray him like that many, many years before Michihiro came to be. Or maybe she had it all mapped out for when Michihiro was finally introduced? Who knows.)

I find it funny, though, that YA draws him with such a serious, threatening vibe but reveals in the character book that Suoh is actually clumsy. It’s a cute counterpoint that, to me, puts Suoh in that category of tough guys that tend to be real dorks when no one is looking. How awesome would it be if she ever decided to show us one of those clumsy moments... Preferably with the ominous eyes framed by eyebrows going up in embarrassment!
