HOUSTON, TX– In a bold statement, undefeated WBA World Champion David Morrell Jr. (10-0, 9 KOs) has declared that rising star Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs), who is fresh off his sixth-round knockout over Padraig McCrory (18-1, 9 KOs), is nowhere near his level and that he would dispatch him in just one round if given the chance.

Morrell Jr., coming off a string of impressive victories since his dominant performance over Alantez Fox to capture the WBA World title, minced no words in his assessment of Berlanga's recent success.

"Berlanga is simply not on my level,” said Morrell Jr. “I've watched his fights, and I see nothing that worries me. Berlanga sucks, and I would destroy him. If we ever step into the ring together, I'll knock him out in one round, guaranteed."

With his sights set on solidifying his status as one of the most formidable champions in the division, Morrell Jr. remains fearless by any challenge that comes his way.

"I'm here to prove that I'm the best," concluded Morrell Jr. "Whether it's Berlanga, or anyone else, I'll be ready to step into the ring and show the world what I'm made of. I’m the best fighter in the super middleweight division, and soon everyone will know that."

REVISITING THE FINAL SOLDIER BOY INTERVIEW

By now, the stoic fellow on this month's cover needs no introduction but in case you've been away for the past 20 years, his name is Soldier Boy, and he's a movie star. In fact, he's the world's biggest movie star as well as Vought's biggest commodity. He stands about six feet tall, weighs around 175 and likes women. Boy, does he like women. His reputation as a hyperactive Lothario has been fueled by rumored romances with everyone from Rita

Bernard Hopkins Jr. (January 15, 1965) is a former boxer who competed (1988-2016). He is one of the most successful boxers of the past three decades, having held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed championship at middleweight (2001-05), and the lineal championship at light heavyweight (2011-12).

He became a world champion by winning the vacant International Boxing Federation middleweight title (1995). He compiled 20 defenses against 17 opponents, with 19 wins as a result of his no-contest bout against Robert Allen. In 2001, he successfully unified the middleweight division by defeating Félix Trinidad to win the World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council, Ring magazine, and lineal titles. A victory over Oscar De La Hoya for the World Boxing Organization title in 2004 cemented his status as an undisputed champion while making him the first male boxer to simultaneously hold world titles by all four major boxing-sanctioning bodies. In 2001, he was voted Fighter of the Year by The Ring and the Boxing Writers Association of America. In 2011, The Ring ranked him third on their list of the “10 best middleweight title holders of the last 50 years.” As of April 2021, he is ranked by BoxRec as the seventh greatest boxer of all time, pound for pound.

He broke his record by winning the IBF light heavyweight title from Tavoris Cloud in 2013 and 2014 when he won the WBA (Super) title from Beibut Shumenov.

He became a minority partner with Golden Boy Promotions.

Born to Bernard Hopkins Sr. and his wife Shirley, he grew up in Philadelphia. Although he was a promising amateur boxer who won the Philadelphia Jr. Golden Gloves championship at age 9, compiling an amateur record of 95–4,[he turned to crime early in his life. At seventeen, he was sentenced to 18 years in Graterford Prison for nine felonies. He was released from prison in 1988. He decided to use boxing as an escape from his previous life and converted to Islam. He attributed his discipline to his experiences and time spent in Graterford Prison.

She turned to prize fighting to keep herself and her baby afloat, and she likes to think she's doing pretty well. She earned her title "Sweet Mercy" because of her genuinely nice demeanor in interviews and public events. Super-middleweight, current record is 18-0, 50% KOs. Currently training three boxers who all have a teacher's crush in her, not that she's aware.

Jean "Silky" Galaxy! Almost certainly signed up under a fake name, but no one is actually going to call this out! White rabbit with a cold and reticent demeanor. He dropped out of college and pursued muay thai (flyweight), and only comes to this gym because its the cheapest gym in the city. Apollo has latched onto him out of some weird need to be a mentor, and Silky puts up with it because he isn't Rosco. Win rate is currently 6-2-1.
