Can you save me - Prologue
Tumblr media
Pairing: eventually Bradley Bradshaw x you
Summary: A hero arrived at North island to support Maverick on the Uranium plant mission preparation, underneath the though facade was a girl in desperate need of love, but can she love?
Warnings: injuries, war, mentions of ptsd
A/N: this is pure fictional, I have no knowledge of the military and I know this is all not possible in real life, it’s all for the sake of the story; this is the background story, bare with me
Enjoy!
Series masterlist - Next part
Here you were, at 32, achieved the unachievable missions, your nickname became a name with a ring to it, but you didn’t know who you were anymore, everything had changed.
Tumblr media
You ended up in the Special Operations Regiment after enlisting as a medic and graduating top of your class in your commando training. Soon after graduating you were sent on tours to Africa, Afghanistan and some undisclosed locations. After supporting a special forces team during a mission you got the chance to join them during training back home as one of the operators noticed your skills, both tactical and with weapons and mentioned the special forces are always in need of some good operators with a medical background. As aspected from your commando training, there were guys hating the fact that you were a woman and some accepting or not caring about it - as long as you can do the job. You became thick skinned at the hard competition and almost constant sexual remarks what apparently helped you becoming more focused on achieving your goals.
Even though you successfully finished special forces training, you got stuck as a para commando medic as higher ups still had problems with female operators. During one mission you couldn’t stay at the sidelines and got your team to safety. This didn’t go unnoticed by a CIA operative Nathan Burke. He got your file in his hands and was able to get you on a hostage rescue mission with an American RECON team. After the mission went smoothly, Burke kept you as one of his assets in this team, with the agreement of your CO. With them you earned your nickname ‘Ricochet’ as some of your targets got hit due to a calculated ricochet. The nickname, and the short version ‘Ric’, did help you with blending in with local support as it didn’t give away your identity and gender as it became known it was a pleasure working with you. Eventually you became a black ops operator for the CIA as your country didn’t mind lending you out. All the missions you had done went smoothly until the last one.
You were sent to an undisclosed location to retrieve information about a terrorist attack and capture or kill the present subjects. Burke was as always somewhere around the compound in contact with you and your supporting team, mostly special operations. This time it was a new team with only greenhorns, the Yankee-team, you had made your concerns about them clear, but you hit a wall asking for an other team. As you send Yankee 4 and 5 to check the wide perimeter of the building, a hangar, they didn’t notice the place was wired. When you just to retrieved the data you needed, everything went horribly wrong. The team got discovered and a gunfight began, instead of backing you up and keeping the retrieved data safe, they ran off like little bitches saving only their own asses.
During the gunfight you got hit multiple times in your right leg, but despite your injuries you were able to take out all the assailants. Before killing the the last one, he was able to activate the detonator and blew up the hangar. The moment it happened fear, anger and a sort of relieve rushed through your body. Fear and anger because you didn’t wanted to go down this way, being left behind and a part of you did not want to die yet, you didn’t know what life still had planned for you. And relieved because you had missed your parents so much ever since they died when you were 15, maybe you could be able to see them again.
Before losing consciousness you notified Burke that you had retrieved the needed data, so if you didn’t survive your body had to be removed for the data.
After getting discharged from the hospital, you got home to rehabilitate further, this was when the nightmares began. The images of the team leaving you and the building collapsing kept on playing over and over again in your head. You were thankful for Nate as he came over to stay with you for a week to help you adjust and start therapy for your ptsd.
“Hey, did you call mr. booty call? Maybe you should let off some steam” Nate practically became your best friend, spending a lot of time together planning and executing missions. He probably knew you better than anyone else, even better than you knew yourself.
“Nope, he’s got a girlfriend before I left.” “Oh” “Yeah”
And to make matters worse you got a call you needed to go to base, where notified you would be put on medical leave and not needed back anymore. The polite version of ‘thank you for your service and fuck off’. This completely devastated you and left you wondering ‘who am I now?’ Your country didn’t need you anymore, you did not have many friends, actually none, outside of the military, and you were still single. You had agreed with Axel, or mr. Booty call as Nate described him, that as long as the two of you were single you would sleep with each other, letting off steam, what you needed to do a lot ever since you joined the military. And your sister, you could not bother her with your problems as she had a family of her own.
This makes you wonder, how the hell did you end up, enlisted, in San Diego?
Apparently someone dropped the word that you were available, healing but available. And an admiral liked it, he kept track of your career after you saved the life of his son during one of your missions.
Please let me know what you think
Little did you know the life you knew would make a 180 degree turn here.

'Support Your' James Garner comedy westerns on Amazon Prime
‘Support Your’ James Garner comedy westerns on Amazon Prime
James Garner established himself as a natural for the comic western with the TV series Maverick, playing the reluctant hero who avoided conflict and gunplay with charm, wit, and a con-man’s knack for keeping his opponents off balance. The brought that sensibility to the big screen with Support Your Local Sheriff (1969), playing a drifter on his way to Australia (“the last frontier,” he explains…

THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG (Dir: Norman Tokar, 1975).
Comic western from Walt Disney Productions which provides a pre-Incredible Hulk Bill Bixby a rare opportunity as leading man in a feature film.
Three orphans, the unwitting wards of gambler Russell Donovan (Bill Bixby), attract the attention of prospective adoptive parents when they strike gold in former mining community of Quake City. To protect the kids from gold-digging townsfolk, Donovan arranges a sham marriage with stagecoach driver Dusty (Susan Clark) with a plan to adopt the youngsters; meanwhile the children's money grabbing legal guardian John Wintle (Don Knight) gets wind of their windfall. Determined to remain in the care of Donovan and Dusty, the trio, assuming the name The Apple Dumpling Gang combine forces with second rate bandits Amos (Tim Conway) and Theodore (Don Knotts) aka The Hash Knife Outfit. Together the gang plot to stage a bogus burglary which would allow Amos and Theodore to keep the nugget while deterring the self-serving Wintle. The clumsy crims are making a fine mess of thing when real life robbers turn up to alleviate the loot from the city bank.

18 Oct. Suptober: Inferno
"So you decided to open with tentacle porn?"
s13 au: deancas, nsfw-ish
Cas said, "I have been considering our first sexual encounter," which caused Dean to swallow coffee directly into his lungs.
It took him two minutes to stop coughing. Cas thwapped him on the back once but otherwise waited with his hands wrapped around a ceramic cup.
"We haven't had a first sexual encounter," Dean finally choked out.
Cas smiled down at his own less lethal legal stimulant beverage. "I know. I've been thinking about what I could bring to the table."
Dean wondered if Cas was using that adage correctly. "What do you mean?"
"I have seen much of human copulation over the centuries," Cas said, seemingly without finding the topic taboo for the breakfast nook. "In times past I would've said I found the notion of sex to be, at best, of limited interest."
Tamping down the urge to start screaming, Dean said, "And you've changed your mind?"
Cas looked at him with a kind of quiet surety. "Oh, yes."
This wasn't exactly news to Dean. They'd acknowledged their love, friendship, and devotion to one another. They'd made out in the Impala backseat, counted stars from a picnic blanket in a field of wildflowers, held hands while watching Support Your Local Gunfighter. They'd slept tangled in the same bed for a couple of weeks in a row. They'd drifted closer and closer together in homey fidelity no less potent for having been, thus far, chaste (or chaste-ish, anyway; what he'd learned waking up with Cas spooned around him seemed exceptionally promising).
Dean had never felt more patient: they were twining their lives together in permanent and inextricable ways, and it felt like everything he'd ever wanted and everything he'd long thought he could not have.
The steady heat in Cas's eyes pierced him through with a whole other level of desire.
He meant to respond with more than a shaky sigh and an inability to stop staring, but wasn't fast enough before Cas was saying, "Given your predilection for tentacle porn, I thought perhaps we could start there."
Dean experienced a real life record scratch occasion. "...What?"
With grave somberness, Cas said, "My angelic grace can be used for a variety of extrasensory, even extra-dimensional, if you will, experiences. Though my true form is not imbued with the sorts of limbs common to this planet's array of creatures that would be categorized in the Cephalopoda class, I do have more limbs than you that can be utilized--"
"Uh," Dean said. He went offline for an undetermined amount of time. "--and it perhaps goes without saying that my stamina will far outpace yours, though of course I would not be opposed to resting for as long or short an interval as you deem appropriate--"
"Whelp," Dean said, as much as anyone has ever truly said such a word out loud.
"--a blazing inferno, a throbbing conflagration, if you will--"
"Please," Dean said, rallying his last lingering shreds of sanity, "please stop talking."
He put his face in his palms and his palms on the kitchen table and laid there in the comparable, uncomfortable darkness. After some period of time he realized Cas was stroking the space between his shoulder blades, a soothing motion that stoked warmth into Dean's chest.
He raised his head.
Cas's eyes were the darkest shade of blue, full of banked humor and an amount of affection Dean could barely begin to gauge.
"You are a very, very bad angel," Dean said, sounding to his own ears somewhat scandalized. Laughter started to bubble up inside him and he let it out in a helpless exhalation.
Cas grinned, somewhat bashfully. He thumbed the line of Dean's jaw. "My understanding of western culture is that mature adults in committed relationships are supposed to consciously communicate on matters of sexual intimacy. Except, god, that sounded awkward."
"So you decided to open with tentacle porn?"
Cas looked at Dean from beneath his eyelashes. "I could've began with a spirited treatise on the relative risk/reward ratio of sub/dom dynamics."
Dean's throat closed off as if to take the threat of drowning by coffee out of the equation. The rest of his body just blushed.
He recovered enough to say, "No-one who's ever wanted to get laid has ever used the phrase 'spirited treatise' as part of the seduction."
"No?"
"No," Dean said firmly.
"What would you want me to say, then," Cas asked. His voice was low and lilting and he'd pressed himself very near on the bench. "If I were trying to seduce you."
Dean gave himself the opportunity to think through what he wanted to say.
When he'd mostly decided, he pitched his voice as low and soft. "It's not… I get it. We're transitioning, right? This whole thing where we…are together together, it's been so good, and I get that we're supposed to talk about this shit like responsible grown-ups and enthusiastically consent, and that stuff's great, it really is." He cupped the back of Cas's head and rubbed at his silky little curls. "But if you're asking for my honest preference?"
Cas nodded, face full of vulnerability. He looked at Dean in a way that made Dean ache everywhere, in more than one way.
"Then I think you should simply tell me what you want," Dean said.
Cas nodded again. After a second, he slipped an arm around Dean's waist and leaned forward, put his hot mouth against the shell of Dean's ear.
Dean shivered all the way down.
"What I want," Cas whispered, "is for us to go to into the bedroom, undress each other, and fuck until neither of us can stay awake a moment longer."
Minutes later, Dean realized it wasn't going to be his night for responding verbally in a timely fashion -- he was too busy coaxing Cas's tongue into his mouth for speech. He didn't think Cas minded, on either count.

A handsome leading man who I didn't really notice until I saw the 1994 Maverick movie.
