Thank you fire emblem warriors for giving lucina and marth a support conversation, it's been years and i still think about it constantly

Lucina fangirling over her great (×10) grandpa is 10/10 and marth feeling uncomfortable with the praise is also 10/10 and a very marth thing to do lmao

He legit tells her that his legend is super exaggerated like 3 times and she just keeps on praising him lmao i love them

But my favorite thing about the support is the talk about lucina taking marth's name and basically cosplaying as him cause it gave her strength and helped her cope with what was happening

It's so bizarre that Byleth has a mandatory line halfway through VW where they beg Claude not to kill Edelgard due to how much they care about her, but the ending cutscene of that same route shows them angrily executing a beaten and defenseless Edelgard with no remorse

I'd say it's a conjunction of bad writing (the game not giving enough scenes or interactions to make it believable that Billy would care for Supreme Leader on any other route than a BE route) and the fact that VW is basically SS, but with a different flavour.

I wouldn't say they are "angrily" bissecting her, Billy in that scene is rather emotionless, or maybe steeling themselves because we're supposed to understand they care about their student ?

It's a main complain from VW though, why the need to push the Supreme Leader and Billy romance/bond to the forefront when she it's the route where she's the least relevant, but hey, that's Fodlan for you.

Completely agree with your post but can I focus on the female robin support part? I feel like most of the female robin exclusive supports are always exceptionally worst than the male robin exclusive stuff because in the latter, they usually show something insightful or pretty deep while in the former...it's always jokes. Bad jokes.

Infamously people usually say this to talk about the chrom/robin support and while the difference is...bad ik, I don't think the difference in quality is as bad as the supports with lucina if you aren't her mom, tiki, aversa (even though that one is pretty garbage with the S support). I don't remember the other exclusive supports outside of those four so maybe Flavia and Basilio irrc that changes on your gender are exceptions 😭

ngl i havent read most of those supports, but from what i've seen, yeah. Hard agree on the chrobin supports, having started a second run using male robin (and the gay mod, but that's neither here nor there.)

Male Robin in general is allowed to have supports exploring the other character's deeper insecurities, here Chrom being unsure of himself without Robin's support and Robin worrying over his safety, but female Robin's supports tend to focus on how Robin is a woman.

Like, instead of talking about the deeper aspects of Chrom's character, the entire support chain is the two of them accidentally walking in on each other in the shower. It's always Robin's femininity before anything else about Robin as a character.

It SERIOUSLY gives the vibe that male Robin is the "default" who all the original supports were written for, and the writers couldn't come up with anything to meaningfully differentiate m! and f! robin's characterization outside of their gender.

That's why the current approach in three houses and engage is so much better. There's no change in supports between genders. Because why would there be? The main story doesn't change whatsoever. It can't, because that would mean writing two main stories, and that's too much effort. Would Robin's gender ever meaningfully impact the plot? Well, no. Neither would Corrin's, or Byleth's, or Shez's, or Alear's.

It's the typical treatment of the male as default, and the woman as "woman." It's a criticism I have of Morgan's design in Heroes. Male morgan gets to keep his canonical outfit that both genders of morgan have in awakening, but female morgan gets a redesign in a short skirt to differentiate the two. It can't be both of them keeping the usual design, that'd be boring, so we have the default, and the girl one.

(Cartoon light gore) Fire Emblem Gordin realizes he didn't hit it on the mark

Here is a drawing I finished a week ago or so of Gordin for no real reason other than practice and I thought it would be nice to draw him. Overall this took a very long time but I'm so happy with the result, just as edgy as expected. I also did the background myself but I kind of blurred it in the finished result ao you can't see the details clearly, sorry :(

There was a post a bit ago on here about how Fire Emblem is a bit of a black sheep of Nintendo due to lacking a mascot, and I found that SUCH an interesting post and wanted to talk about it too

On the My Nintendo website, there's a characters page that lists Nintendo's ten main series. Mario, Pokemon, Kirby, Pikmin, etc, and of course Fire Emblem! Donkey Kong is also there for some reason, two slots to Mario. I think that slot should've been Xenoblade Chronicles but alright.

Now, most of these have a picture of the main character, but Fire Emblem's has the tagline "engage with various titles" (cough cough, ENGAGE), but the picture used is the Three Houses leaders! All three! Interesting to me at least

But I wanna talk about Engage!

I feel as if Alear is a character that Nintendo wanted to exist. Not Intelligent Systems, but Nintendo! Those awesome artists who hate AI art, keep creativity alive in the gaming industry, support trans rights, and make transphobic AI slop supporting Reddit dudebros seethe with hatred :3

I think Alear was intended to be a mascot for the Fire Emblem series. The connection to Marth (who everyone sees as the main face cuz Smash, but really has had little to do with the series recently beyond Awakening, before Engage), and also flat out being "THE FIRE EMBLEM"

But... Engage's poor sales, combined with the DLC being rushed out, combined with Alear being universally made fun of, has me wondering how they feel about this now? I mean, two years later and Alear doesn't even have a PLUSHIE

One time a popular post about Alear went viral on Twitter, and got a ton of attention from non FE fans.. who all ridiculed and made fun of Alear's design immediately. Oof.

I think it all really depends on Smash 6 honestly. Assuming it's a reboot, goodness I HOPE it is a reboot.

They could keep Marth and a variety of FE lords, or they could introduce Alear with a variety of Emblems of cut lords.

I kinda feel like that will be the turning point of whether or not Fire Emblem will have a mascot tbh, or if it'll keep being "Marth and then whoever the newest lord is". I'm rooting for Alear though!

Okay for the non Pokémon world people, Charizard is a Fire/Flying type (not dragon which is a separate type). And used as a symbol by ethnic nationalist movements in Kanto and Galar who arbitrarily banned certain Pokémon based on junk science debunked decades ago.

I do not trust anyone with a Charizard profile pic and you shouldn't either, especially if they're from Kanto or Galar. It's sus they let Charizard trainers compete who haven't said anything about this.

No one requested this, I have the INSATIABLE URGE to write crossovers no matter what, apparently. Doubly so with the idiots that began my love for crossovers, both Fire Emblem/Konosuba.

Awakening:

Alear stared at the rather shoddy looking ring in her palm, eyebrow raised as Marth and Vander at her side did the same.

The ring was horribly rusted, alongside just looking cheap, as if it were made of copper unlike every other ring which at least looked decent.

(Vander) "Divine One, please absolve me of my negligence but...are you sure that is the correct incantation?"

(Alear) "Truth be told, it sounds like someone just made it up on the spot. Name included. Marth?"

Marth floated over her shoulder and only shook his head.

(Marth) "I suppose there's no harm in trying?"

Alear sighed before clenching her fist and raising it into the sky.

(Alear)

"WAKE UP YOU MORONS!"

Instead of a brilliant light, the ring violently popped out four figures that all landed on top of each other, scaring the three.

(Kazuma) "GOD, MY FRIGGIN BACK!"

The brown haired boy shoved three girls off him, all while swearing under his breath as he dusted himself off.

Not that he needed to, considering they were just manifestations and not physical bodies.

(Kazuma) "What in the-Why the hell are we all glowy and crap?!"

The other girls quickly looked down to examine themselves, completely ignoring Alear.

(Darkness) "I-I can't feel anything! THIS IS A TERRIBLE EXISTENCE!"

(Megumin) "Can we still attack? C-C-CAN I STILL CAST MY EXPLOSIONS!?"

(Kazuma) "What did you do to us, Aqua?!"

(Aqua) "ME?! I didn't do anything! It was that stupid ring that you bought from Wiz! I KNEW that we should've just sold it off!-"

(Vander) AHEM!

The four quickly leapt back in terror as Vander made their presence known.

(Vander) "Compose yourselves! You stand in front of the Divine Dragon-"

(Kazuma) "Can it, grandpa! Our business is none of yours!"

(Alear) "L-Let's just all take a second to breathe and-"

Kazuma jammed a finger into Aqua's shoulder angrily, his expression bordering on snapping into full blown rage.

(Kazuma) "AND AS FOR YOU, YA STUPID BLUE GODDESS! THE RING WAS PERFECTLY FINE UNTIL YOU DECIDED TO TRY YANKING IT FROM MY HAND! Now we're stuck as some goddamn ghosts!"

(Aqua) "IT'S NOT MY FAULT! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IT WAS GOING TO TURN US INTO THIS!?-"

As the two continued to yell, Megumin and Darkness's glances turned towards the newcomers.

(Megumin) "Well, I'm Megumin! Nice to meet you."

(Darkness) "Please, call me Darkness. Those two over there are Kazuma and Aqua."
