"Professor Laslow,” Rhea smiles, handing him a box; “it seems your winter envoy has been both attentive and thorough this year. Season’s blessings to you both.” Inside the box: Most prominently, peppermint tea, a small box of assorted chocolates, and the dancing slippers that were crossed out on the list (in a light blue shade), tucked beneath the two other gifts, as if acknowledging the recipient's embarrassment but wishing to get him the item he desired anyway.
The enticing smell of peppermint reaches him far before the Pope--
Naga freaking dragon, that's the Pope.
Is he finally getting kicked out? Look, he didn't know that striking lady he met out shopping was a priest's daughter! Laslow swallows, tamping down on his nerves before pivoting around to face Rhea, a slightly nervous smile in place.
"Lady Rhea! What an honor to see your lovely face." Graciously, he takes the box from her hands. "Oho, have you been peeking?"
What is he thinking, teasing the Pope?
"Heh, merely a jest, Your Holiness! Season's blessings upon you." He flips open the lid of the box, eager for a distraction. A fresh wave of peppermint wafts up. He's already planning on drinking a cup after training drills.
The chocolates also call his name. It's the really good stuff, too, and he can practically feel the way it melts on his tongue. Then the chocolates shift, revealing a pair of dancing slippers.
Lips part in a silent gasp of surprise. He didn't think anyone would buy them; well-made slippers are not cheap. Heat creeps up the back of his neck and he reaches for them, the satin soft against his fingertips.
"Thank you for bringing my gifts."

@aurheatum
She finds him in the gardens, alone for the moment though earlier he had been walking arm and arm with a friend and before that speaking with the cleric Sephiran.
Perhaps it was best to let bygones be bygones but though she had only passed the other by chance his loneliness is palpable, and more than that – familiar.
“Professor,” she greets, approaching him slowly, “I hope despite some of the more unlikely events of the evening you have been able to appreciate the holiday.”
She stands in silence with him for a moment, her own eyes drawn to the stars as they always are in any time of reverie.
“…This anniversary was not always one most related to romantic love. At its founding, Garreg Mach was meant as a place to celebrate bonds of all kinds – particularly familial, for we are all the Goddess’s children.”
Rhea holds out both hands to him with a slightly pained smile.
“If you’d like we can pray together, for whatever bonds you most cherish. I am sure She will hear our prayer.”
Kurthnaga glances up from the ground, eyes still tear stained and bubbling over with an emotion that he couldn't quite begin to explain. Of all the people he would think to come up to him, he was certainly not expecting the archbishop herself to be one of them.
He nods his head, a silent gesture of respect as she speaks, gentle and quiet.
"Lady Rhea... I'm afraid the bond that I would have most wanted to share on this night is far from being attainable... not to say that I don't cherish the ones I have now...! But... well, it's complicated... and I have never been much of one for prayer anyway..." He frowns, casting his gaze back to the ground.
"I'm sorry... I don't mean to fill this beautiful garden with such gloom..."

a kiss from one muse who should be afraid of the other (who is who? up to you!)
kissies :3 (accepting)
In theory, Zephia should be terrified of the monastery's archbishop. If anyone would ever be able to get to roots and expose the secrets that she carried about her existence here in Fodlan, it would be shining and bright scion of the Church that was Rhea.
But she wasn't scared. She should be scared; but since when had Zephia ever abided by the laws of this world. The magic in her blood could destroy everything around if she did not have control over it now. Rhea of all people, no matter how powerful she was to the people here, did not scare her.
"Lady Rhea, just a moment of your time, if I may." She strides over to the other woman, what she meant to do already determined in her heart. Ah, interesting. Rhea had always looked much taller from farther away.
She leans down, tugging Rhea's face up to meet hers in the little distance at remains, intertwining their lips together in a kiss far softer than Zephia herself.
"Pardon my intrusion, I simply couldn't resist any longer, dear."

"Better Call Saul ended this year. There are plenty of places to read about its final season and various twists and the Carol Burnett of it all. I wrote a lot of words about it. But that’s not what this is. This is about Kim Wexler, as played by Rhea Seehorn, smoking cigarettes in such a deeply cathartic way that it almost made me start again after well over a decade." -Brian Grubb, UPROXX

An underrated Kronides dynamic we don't often talk about is Hestia & Poseidon, or more rather Poseidon's one-sided proposal towards her:
Homeric Hymn 5 to Aphrodite 18 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C7th - 4th B.C.) :
"Nor yet does the pure maiden Histia (Hestia) love Aphrodite's works. She was the first-born child of wily Kronos (Cronus) and youngest too, by will of Zeus who holds the aigis,--a queenly maid whom both Poseidon and Apollon sought to wed. But she was wholly unwilling, nay, stubbornly refused; and touching the head of father Zeus who holds the aigis, she, that fair goddess, sware a great oath which has in truth been fulfilled, that she would be a maiden all her days. So Zeus the Father gave her a high honour instead of marriage, and she has her place in the midst of the house and has the richest portion. In all the temples of the gods she has a share of honour, and among all mortal men she is chief of the goddesses. Of these three Aphrodite cannot bend or ensnare the hearts."
First of all good move on Zeus to respect his elder sister's wishes (regardless of the type of ruler you see him as he was very fair in this situation), second it's interesting seeing the word sought, like it was a stubborn request on Poseidon's (and Apollo's) part up until Zeus gave his verdict. Also interesting is the supposed timing of these proposals, considering Apollo is his fellow rival it implies Apollo was an adult/old enough to seek Hestia out. If they sought Hestia at the same time, does that mean that a.) Poseidon wasn't married to Amphitrite yet? (In one way that's logically impossible if Triton's daughter Pallas is Athena's childhood friend, which implies Amphitrite and Poseidon married early enough to have Triton to be old enough to have Pallas) Or b.) that he was already married but would be willing to divorce Amphitrite if Hestia had said yes?
I like to think that Apollo and Poseidon's proposals happened in different time periods, Poseidon during or after the Titanomachy (in which Hestia just said no/would think about it and just never responded) and during Apollo's proposal is when Hestia asks Zeus to let her be a virgin goddess. (It just seems weird to me if a Poseidon- especially a married Poseidon- would just seek Hestia's hand out of the blue with no hint of intentions before, unless he specifically did that to compete with Apollo though that seems unlikely.)
It leaves me just asking why Poseidon wanted to marry Hestia. I personally think he wanted to marry her because he had a crush on her (the same way a kid would have a crush on an older girl in movies) and that he was a littleee bit jealous that Zeus and Hera were lovers/married and wanted a sister-wife for himself (which yes, incest is ew but this is greek mythology we HAVE to abandon the "incest is bad" metric when it comes to gods. Most of the gods during the Titan era married their sibling/cousin so Poseidon may have had a similar mindset).
Also kinda interesting that Poseidon loved Hestia and Demeter and was able to respect Hestia's wishes but not Demeter's. Smh bro.

@pandp-author replied to your post “Just thinking about it but - UO : MC learns the...”:
@themoomoorn If it's not too much asking, what is it about Petra's support with Claude that you don't like? I'm rather curious.
If I can jump in, for me it'd be this :
Tumblr media
Petra : Harming Trees is bad because they have spirits and it's important, the tree gives us food and shelter but it also needs us. We live in harmony, all those things.
Clout : Ah yes, you're close to the nature, unlike those stupid Fodlan people who believe everything comes from their goddess and forgot nature.
Petra : Remember when I said Billy-sensei turning green looks like the spirits I am often talking about? And how the Fodlan Goddess basically made and created those spirits? - Who am I kidding, I can't tell you this, we're in a Fodlan game, you must always have a point and Church BaD.
Clout : Of course!
Tumblr media
Clout : I mean, imagine if the Hresvelgs could trace their lineage to Saint Seiros herself, who is said to be, in her own scriptures, a Child of the Goddess aka not a human herself or at least a divine being. I'd look like an imbecile, right?
Also fun how "uwu nobility isn't a matter of birthright, status doesn't matter uwu" when the same guy tells to Cyril :
Tumblr media
"nobility doesn't matter we're all equals uwu except when I could use my status to compel a random to do things he doesn't want to".
But back to the Petra support :
Tumblr media
Clout : I've heard Hanneman say the same thing to Doro.
Petra : Wow you're so strange for saying those things! And you are a noble who can climb to trees! So weird!
Clout : Are we sure Caspar can't do the same? He knows how to pummel someone to death with his fists, maybe he'd also know how to climb trees or something, given how he didn't receive any education befitting a heir of a house, since his brother is the heir and he is naught but a spare. But hey, I'll totally call you strange because you are a princess of Brigid, nevermind the link I cannot tell you about between you being the princess of a foreign land and me.
Petra : But you know how to climb trees and take care of your equipment ! I'm so impressed, I've never seen any noble take care of his own stuff before. What is that? Ferdie oils his own weapons and armor? Who is that Ferdie you're talking about?
---
Granted, given how Petra was trashtalked by Hubert (or trash thought) when he first met her and was around the most, uh, decadent part of Adrestian Nobility, I can't fault her for thinking Claude climbing to trees and tending to his own bow is extraordinary - but I suppose if she ever went to see any BL what she finds "abornmal in Fodlan and totes only Adrestia because that's the only place she visited" wouldn't be so... abnormal.

Objectively funny that for 1000 years, Rhea would fake her death, put on a different outfit, and then keep being the pope, and no one caught on.
