A general tip for students who are sending those dreaded Religious Absence Emails to your professors: Rather than asking permission to take the day(s) off, politely let them know that you will be taking the day(s) off.
In other words, consider not saying this:
"May I miss class on [date] so I can observe [holiday]?"
It's not that there's anything wrong with the above, per se. But because it's phrased as a request, it risks coming across as optional — a favor you hope to be granted. Problem is, favors are not owed, and so unfortunately asking permission opens the door for the professor to respond "Thanks for asking. No, you may not. :)"
Instead, try something along the lines of:
"I will need to miss class on [date] because I will be observing [holiday]. I wanted to let you know of this conflict now, and to ask your assistance in making arrangements for making up whatever material I may miss as a result of this absence."
This is pretty formal language (naturally, you can and should tweak it to sound more like your voice). But the important piece is that, while still being respectful, it shifts the focus of the discussion so that the question becomes not "Is it okay for me to observe my religion?", but rather, "How can we best accommodate my observance?"
Because the first question should not be up for debate: freedom of religion is a right, not a favor. And the second question is the subject you need to discuss.
(Ideally, do this after you've looked up your school's policy on religious absences, so you know what you're working within and that religious discrimination is illegal. Just in case your professor forgot.)

This whole Kamala Harris debacle has shown me how many leftist talking points are coming from privileged people whose only connection to politics is the (usually surface level) theory they’ve looked up.

space sweepers but they're delivery people and are at no point on screen through the entire movie
#fantasy high#riz gukgak#kristen applebees#gorgug thistlespring#adaine abernant#fabian seacaster#figueroth faeth#the bad kids#half tempted to say these names are forum handles they use so much it pretty much became their professional names lol#I keep them teenagers bc its funnier that way#no real lore I just like drawing this. but I do think abt how theyre all weirdos too also bc thats funny to me#riz is a huge conspiracyhead who does everything by hands. he has a casio fx-570 in mint condition. nobody knows how he's maintaining it#he is nonetheless Really Good at his job. which somewhat tracks bc it's a job that requires keeping up with interstation conflicts#and new policies and an obsessive amount of planning. but he is Too Good at it. and also he dresses like that#kristen has the atomic engine that theoretically lets her unmake and remake matters with her mind. but it consumes a huge amount#of energy so it's mostly useless. she's still a cult survivor also#gorgug lives his entire life on a ship with his parents who quit a cushy deal maintaining a space station bc he wouldn't be allowed on#the low gravity let him grow very tall but also his oxygen saturation is pretty bad so he's got breathing support#fig is a robot who just found out she's a robot like two months ago. she's been assuming everyone's a robot like her and she's been feeling#very betrayed by her mom lying about that part. she's on a body mod spree which is rough bc system-specific parts are expensive#and so is adapting random parts to her system#fabian's still a pirate captain's son. can't say anything that'd be able to get the vibes across clearer than that#adaine went to tech/business school. she put her monthly allowance towards an ecoterrorist group in her academy which turned out to be an o#and she's currently wanted by UTS. more than fabian. which makes him slightly mad#she's also acquired a passion for low-tech weaponry on the way. she likes ice picks and cleavers#I think up all of this for no reason except that once again the idea of all these people being 1/teens and 2/on the same ship to be posties#is hilarious to me. esp. if they were in a forum group chat beforehand

i know I don't usually make text posts, but I feel like I have to rn. don't know what to say really, but have at least some hope. keep living with as much dignity as possible, and don't stay silent, even if you just speak to your loved ones. there are many things i'd like to express on more philosophical and academic lines around American national identity and how it wove into our government's structure and the authors' intentions, along with the centuries-long descent of the supreme court of the United States' democratic integrity. but to ensure my heart doesn't explode, I will just say that we the people, including those at the very top, almost completely removed from our culture and identity, have an inherent right and duty to uphold our fellows' inalienable rights; it is not wrong, out of place, or ungrateful to fight back in whatever way you can, no matter your past mistakes or loyalty to nation, not to mention past protection by the constitution or feeling of stupidity and awkwardness that comes with being a single person with no projection power to speak of. we must all support each other, and goodness gracious if no one already in power finally puts their foot down, then shame on them and may their failure haunt them for the rest of their lives.
i also can't believe i'd ever involve personal religion with this basic-and-incredibly-unreliable-attempt-to-spread-a-bit-of-joy-and-amusement blog, but I must say, truly and from the bottom of my heart, may the lord's love be with us all, and may each one of you feel supported inherently from somewhere.

AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
No more arms transfers! Ceasefire now. The hostages must come home.
637 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
Last week, President Biden expressed his outrage over the Israeli military’s killing of seven World Central Kitchen workers directly to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Within hours, the Israeli cabinet voted to increase aid deliveries in Gaza — a welcome sea change in its months-long siege that can help tens of thousands of people avoid famine.
There’s no need to wait for the Israeli military to make another deadly decision for President Biden to do all he can to save lives now. President Biden should enforce U.S. law immediately to suspend U.S. military aid to Israel and ensure the indiscriminate killing of aid workers and mass starvation of Palestinians ends today. We need the focus to shift to peace negotiations, rescuing the hostages, and rebuilding.
The U.S. government is likely the only one capable of swaying the Israeli government from deepening the crisis and tipping the entire region into all-out war. It must do so. Americans overwhelmingly want the carnage to stop.
Thanks.

the problem of the matter is i did internalize so much of what ex friend believed about me. even though i knew he was wrong and knew what was happening and tried to stop it and if i took more action to stop it would have been abusing power i held in a way i couldn't live with myself for.
#A BAD PERSON TRYING TO RUIN YOUR LIFE WOULD'VE GOTTEN YOU FIRED AND EVICTED IN WINTER IN ALASKA YOU MOTHERFUCKER. WHICH I DID NOT DO#he was renting a room from my dad. for cheaper than he wouldve been able to find anywhere else. his brother was too#his brother didn't pay rent for over 6 months and my dad just forgave him the debt because my dad knew how much of a difference it wouldve#made when he was that age. and i had told him ex friend was family to me & my dad applied that to the brother too. bc he is a good person.#and one of the strongest parts of my support system. and i didn't say a word to him about what was happening until i knew he already had a#plan for when he would be ending ex friend's lease. so there would be no subconscious impact on ex friend's housing either#mgmt at work straight up asked me if i thought ex friend should be fired immediately multiple times and i'm in retrospect livid they put me#in that position but told them to go by the strike system in the employee handbook and to follow policy that ex friend knew perfectly. that#it couldn't be on me as acting assistant manager to choose#and after 10 months of workplace harassment i got a different job to save my life. ex friend didn't get fired.#he did saw trap shit to my brain!!!!!! jesus christ#he moved cross country to live with his long time gf he called his wife despite never having met irl. to a way more conservative state.#despite being gay. and she left him this summer lol#hadn't checked his twitter in over a year when it got pulled up frm an old link and i saw that. and when he was already at a low point too#me voice. oh no who could've seen this coming. from how you behave in every relationship in your life#may delete this in the morning. but i have to talk about it sometimes#i'm never reaching out for closure both bc he wouldn't give me any and because i know it would trigger him and i don't intentionally trigge#people. unlike him :)#vampire pit#like. i have to talk about it sometimes. i have to talk about it.#jam posts

The Role of Quality Improvement Initiatives in Home Care Policies
Tumblr media
Quality improvement initiatives play a vital role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of home care policies. These initiatives focus on continuously monitoring, evaluating, and improving the quality of care delivered to patients in their homes. Here's a breakdown of the key aspects of the role of quality improvement initiatives in home care policies:
Enhancing Patient Outcomes: Quality improvement initiatives aim to improve patient outcomes by ensuring that the care provided meets established standards of quality and safety. This includes reducing hospital readmissions, managing chronic conditions effectively, and promoting overall wellness and independence among patients.
Ensuring Compliance with Standards: Home care policies must adhere to regulatory standards and guidelines set forth by governing bodies. Quality improvement initiatives help ensure that these policies are implemented effectively and that all staff members are trained and compliant with the required standards.
Identifying Areas for Improvement: Through data collection, analysis, and feedback mechanisms, quality improvement initiatives help identify areas within home care policies that may need improvement. This could include processes, procedures, or even staff training and education.
Implementing Evidence-Based Practices: Quality improvement initiatives in home care policies prioritize the use of evidence-based practices. By staying current with the latest research and guidelines, home care providers can ensure that their policies and procedures are based on the best available evidence, leading to better outcomes for patients.
Promoting Continuous Learning and Development: Quality improvement initiatives foster a culture of continuous learning and development within home care organizations. Staff members are encouraged to participate in training programs, share best practices, and engage in quality improvement projects to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Improving Efficiency and Cost-Effectiveness: By streamlining processes and identifying areas of waste or inefficiency, quality improvement initiatives can help home care organizations deliver high-quality care in a cost-effective manner. This is particularly important given the increasing demand for home care services and the need to use resources efficiently.
Enhancing Patient and Family Satisfaction: Quality improvement initiatives focus not only on clinical outcomes but also on the overall experience of patients and their families. By listening to feedback, addressing concerns, and implementing patient-centered practices, home care organizations can improve satisfaction and build trust with the communities they serve.
Fostering Accountability and Transparency: Quality improvement initiatives promote accountability and transparency within home care organizations. By regularly reporting on performance metrics and outcomes, organizations can demonstrate their commitment to quality care and maintain the trust of stakeholders, including patients, families, and regulators.
In summary, quality improvement initiatives are essential for ensuring that home care policies are effective, efficient, and patient-centered. By continuously striving for improvement and innovation, home care organizations can deliver the highest quality of care to patients in their homes.

one of my least favorite themes about the internet lately is non-american people complaining that americans are talking about american-centric issues on the internet and being like "nOt EvErYtHiNg ReVoLvEs ArOuNd YoU iDiOtS" and it's like. yeah buddy. that's why we didn't apply it to anywhere else in the world. we're talking about the specific issues we are facing as americans living in the states. the reading comprehension is atrocious
#like idk how to tell you that not every american you interact with is gonna be living a rich life in a mega mansion free from strife#the vast majority of us are living under a religious rule disguised as democracy with our own police force killing us in droves every day#your biased view of the states as this place with no pain and suffering is harmful and people are dying in our streets#and its always from these people who think they're communists who care about the collective good and i just. man. i don't understand#i don't understand the disconnect. we're a part of this conversation too the real issues we face are getting real people killed#especially when its coming from leftist non-americans to leftists americans. its like#you KNOW i don't support my country why are you berating me for talking about the real problems we're facing?#individual leftist americans don't make the policies that are killing other countries and i think those conversations are allowed to be two#separate entities without people screaming at us for talking about the atrocities we're facing just bc our government that we have lost#control of is doing things we do not consent or agree to#like fuck dude. americans are still PEOPLE#we are still SUFFERING#and to be clear this isn't to take away from suffering from anyone else this is specifically about when someone from the states complains#about something happening IN THE STATES and non-americans butt in to make a comment about it not being all about us like#baby WHAT#anyways whatever i'm tired i'm going to bed

Arthur T. Demoulas is like a New England folk hero
#he's the ceo of market basket#i'm saying this bc he's a well-known figure and yet i feel like he doesn't live in contemporary times#idk i keep seeing articles about him since it's the 10-year anniversary of the market basket strike summer#apparently he gave current employees bonuses that's nice#for what it's worth i don't know much about him or his policies and have never worked at market basket#although everyone in new hampshire and massachusetts has known several people who at least at one point have worked at mahky bakky#such is the ubiquity of that chain of grocery stores#text post#if you never heard of the 2014 market basket strike it was bc they switched ceos from artie t. to his cousin#arthur s. demoulas and basically none of the workers or public supported the direction he wanted to take the stores into#to quote my mom at the time ''he wants to make it more like shaw's'' (deep slander)#and like it was quite stunning how not a single person shopped at market basket that whole summer#no one would own up to it if they even stepped in. you risked hisses from the local community#i know one person who talked about going in once in the fall and they said it was a complete ghost town#let alone do i know if they had ANY employees bc scabbing for them... could not have been a good look#but then once they switched back to arthur t. as ceo. it was like. it was like the instant burst of energy#that we thought we'd all get at one point 'when the pandemic ends'#it was like all at once energized and back to normal#fascinating story

israel is calling for 1.1 million palestinians to evacuate northern gaza in 24 hours. that is half the population of a place the size of philadelphia. half of them are under 18. the people who stay behind in evacuations are the elderly, disabled, people who cant move. it brings me to tears. the united states backing the state of israel at this moment is so incredibly shameful

“Only 14 people have been able to get out. The motion could have consequences for others who are waiting, he said.
Miller said he was not saying that the motion was "a bad thing to adopt," adding it represented a "principled position" as amended.”
A Canadian minister is implying to the national news service a) that Israel is holding Canadian-linked Palestinians hostage in a war zone, b) that Canada’s foreign policy is dictated by fear of US military allies, c) that the Israeli government with US backing will kill allied residents/connections even for adopting a toothless non-binding motion in accordance with OECD norms.
It’s nothing new to know that the Canadian government is too craven to make a comment on US politicians openly threatening to bomb us as at a New York Democratic event earlier this year. It is also nothing new to see that Israel uses its murder campaigns to threaten foreign nationals or foreign-connected nationals to influence international policy, as seen in the delay in releasing Brazilian and South African citizens from Palestine.
What is bizarre is to see the Canadian government say that Canada believes wholeheartedly in supporting Israel not because of any conviction but because we are certain that Biden and the US will initiate or arm retaliation against Canadians’ families for our independent policy movements.
The key and only important power dynamic in this situation is the genocide of Palestinians by the colonizer states US and Israel. One weird sideshow is that the US is taking this opportunity to exercise its de facto colonial possession of fellow colonial power Canada. The events aren’t unusual. The semi-half-open-mostly-implied discussion of it is.
