Tall/Small Headcannons for Oikawa, Ushijima, Tendo, The Twins, Alisa, and Sakusa
Oikawa Toru
♚ Giving you his Seijoh jacket before a game and making sure you sit closer to the team than his fangirls. (He will find a way even if you have to sit on the bench with the coach this boy will plead)
♚ Enjoys when you move your arms up and down making little flap sounds and just gives you a hug because cute
♚ Definitely persuades you into calling Iwaizumi Iwa-chan (although he’s fine with it because you’re smol and he will protect too)
♚Prepare for facetimes at like 1 A.M. when he comes up with new alien conspiracies and you jokingly saying you’re an alien and him just sitting here like “Because you’re so amazing you’re out of this world.”

    Turning over you smile and place your hand on this side of your boyfriend’s face rubbing small circles on his cheek while your other hand is running through the soft brown tresses. His chocolate eyes flutter open and he just leans forward a bit and nuzzles your noses together. “Good morning my King!” He blushes and kisses your forehead. Rubbing small circles on your back he pulls the blankets up a bit because you must stay warm...totally not because he doesn’t want to move from the blanket burrito and start the day.

I missed you this week…” You trail of Ushijima lets out a small chuckle and gets up unlocking the door to his house.
“Door’s open just tell me when you get here strawberry.”

Satori came home from volleyball practice to you in one of his hoodies that stopped about at your knee cooking some french toast while a tub of ice cream was off to the side. He came up behind you and rested his chin on your head arms around your stomach. “Hi sweetie.” He nuzzles his face into your hair and smiles happily at the scent of the cherry shampoo. “You used my shampoo?” 
“Mhm! I wanted to be clean and smelly good when you came home so I took a shower and decided to put on one of your hoodies because they’re just so comfy! And they smell so good!!!” He smiles and he swears he feels all of the bad things that happened in his day go away at the sight of you hugging yourself in the hoodie and a big smile on your face.

◐ Going to a game and wearing his spare jersey, you better believe this man is going to play better than his best because he has to show off 
◐ Osamu def tease him about showing off and would chuckle when he messes up
◐ He would try to cook for you but ultimately fail and get Osamu to cook it (then steal the credit when he gives it to you)
◐ Going back to the jersey thing- if he came over to your house to see you just lounging around in it this man would have the biggest smirk on his face
◐ So like Valentine’s day, anyone? 
◐ This boy will pout if you leave him alone because his fangirls threatened you
◐ When he figured out what happened-
Atsumu was pouting because he wanted to spend time with you but for some reason today, the day you should have wanted to spend time with your lovely boyfriend if not everyday, you had been avoiding him. He decided to go incognito mode and follow you around to see if he could find out why. Cue the Kim Possible music guys- in reality he was standing behind the corner when he found out why. 
His fangirls were standing in front of you, smol bean must protect, with their hands on their hips while you looked upwards a bit to look them in the eyes. “Stay away from Atsu today got it? We wouldn’t want to have to spread a nasty rumor now would we?” You shook your head and teared up a bit looking down at the heart-shaped box that was in your hand. 
The only thought going through this man’s head was ‘Those nasty fluffing pigs!’ did he confront them, yes, yes he did. Were they allowed at the volleyball games, hell no, they were also not allowed within 12 ft. of you.
Miya Osamu

Osamu woke up from his nap, you still wrapped up in his arms but looking up at him with a growing blush on your face as you froze. He smiled and kissed your forehead when he noticed that your hands were still in hair and leaned into the touch (soft like excuse me for a second while I imagine being held please-). You smiled and kissed the tip of his nose before nuzzling your own nose against it. 
Osamu nuzzled your nose back and finally kept his eyes open. He looked over noticing his neanderthal of a brother asleep on the bed on the other half of the room. “What are you doing still up?” He asked tucking a small piece of hair behind your ear. “You should be asleep my sweet.” 
“Couldn’t sleep, plus I like looking at your pretty face!” You say happily giving Osamu a small smile and kissing his cheek taking one of the hands that was playing with his hair and tracing the soft features of his face.
“I’ll make you some tea then we can go back to sleep how about that?” You nodded your head and slowly got up ‘your’ shirt sliding off your left shoulder. Osamu fixed it as you went to the kitchen and he wrapped his arms around you while you waited for the kettle to go off.

Kuroo was happy because it was Valentine’s Day and he was fully prepared to spoil you. He filled your locker with chocolate and little love notes and walked you to school, he gave you his Nekoma jacket and obviously you proudly wore it the whole day. You were a happy bean the whole day and he even made a bento for you and filled it with little sticky notes that had cheesy pickup lines and cat drawings. “Tetsu! I feel bad that I haven’t been spoiling you!” You say pouting a bit as he chuckles and kisses the tip of your nose. 
“You can spoil me tomorrow if you really want to, but today is for you, although you spoil me every day.” He smiles at you and gives you a hug.

“Y/N!!!!” Alisa cheered as she ran to you with her arms out and a huge smile on her face. “Are you ready for our date?” 
“Not yet!” You gave her a big hug and lifted your head to give her a big cheery smile. “I have to get one more thing then I’ll be back!” You rushed back into your room and quickly put on ‘their’ blue cat hoodie. You smiled and dashed out back to Alisa who smiled and blushed lightly. “Ready?” You ask, taking her hand as she smiled softly and kissed your forehead. 
“You look amazing kitty.” She ruffled your hair with her free hand and kissed the back of your hand before lacing both of your hands together. And heading out the door two pairs of skates thrown over her shoulder because she didn’t want you to carry them. She low key wanted to carry you too but knew that you would rather walk (at least the way there). 
“Ready to skate with me Alisa?” Alisa nodded and patted your head with her other hand, she opened the car door letting you get in. Giggling a little bit you said a little thank you shaking your head at the antics of the eldest Haiba. She walked over to the driver side of the car, setting the skates on the floor behind the driver’s seat, you began driving to the roller rink one of her hands on the steering wheel and the other holding your hand which she would bring up to her lips and kiss it.
Sakusa Kiyoomi
😷 Sakusa might not be the most loving boyfriend but he shows it in other ways
😷 He gives a mask before school starts so you don’t ‘get infected by other people’s germs’
😷 When you ask about you touching him he just looks at you with a surprised pikachu face
😷 Sakusa says that you don’t have germs because you’re you
😷 You can give him hugs just don’t do it as often in front of his team because they will tease him
😷 If you both go to the All Japan training camp he will **not** let Atsumu near you
😷 If he tries it- 
Atsumu knew you were dating Sakusa and likes to tease him so we all see where this is going.  He came up to you when you and your ‘team’ were done with regular training. As you were about to put on a face mask and take a shower but Atsumu put his hand on your lips preventing you from doing so. “My, my, your lips are soft.” You blushed a little bit and he took his hand away. 
Sakusa was on his way towards you when he saw you blushing and Atsumu standing in front of you, closer than he wanted, and started walking faster. “Say, I wonder if they would feel nice against mine?” When he put your hand on his lips Sakusa lost it and pulled out his trusty can of Lysol, he appeared behind you and sprayed Atsumu huffing a bit from jealousy. 
“Come on (Y/N), you don’t need to be around him. You can shower at my room and steal my shirt to sleep in, I don’t want you out of my sight for the rest of the day.” Sakusa’s cheeks puffed out a bit as he wiped your hand with a baby wipe and then pulled you towards his room a smirking Atsumu left in his wake. _____________________________ My Requests are open! With autumn slowly creeping in, the team was busy every day, getting ready for the winter to come. The crops looked good, morning dew on them as the professor stumbled out with a few Pokemon, taking them out for a morning stretch and bathroom break. She ambled about the garden, mindlessly eating a berry or two, pulling the odd weed out, while sipping coffee in the quiet. It wouldn’t be long before the Galar region was to open a new area up to the general public, and seeing as the team now had a galarian resident on it, the woman decided it’d be wise to go back and get the remainder of Devra’s Pokemon. They’d been stashed at her family home from what she had gathered, and now the gates were being fully opened, they could apply to move to johto, to the island. She had to admit, the idea of the tundra area becoming accessible was a little daunting, peach had never been too resilient in the cold. Perhaps this would be a good test for her. Val was going to come along for this trip, she planned to just go for a field visit with her Pokemon, but with Devs enthusiasm to explore too, it seemed wise to team up and go together on the trip. The young intern had been steadily learning, and because of her, Peach was freed up to do more work in other areas, now less busy with the herds of non-grass types. She did however get to visit for fun more, which she had to admit was enjoyable. Secret meetings with the stantler had become her lunch breaks as of late, they all seemed very calm with the big leader around, Donut, peach’s dear baby boy. Sadly he couldn’t come with her on the trip, he would have been a perfect fit for the area and it’s cold.
Perhaps it’d be nice to just start fresh, see who she ended up with as a team. Her hand found Val mid thought, petting her stupidly warm body. At least they could get some time together. Val had been so upset about not being able to go to Galar the first time round, so now was the chance to make it up to the Pokemon.
Devra was up an hour before sunrise, a rhythm to her day now that just came easily to her now. She would get up, get dressed for the days needs, then feed her main team of Pokémon first. Once they were taken care of she made her way outside, heading over to the main stable and barn of her little pocket of the island. She went inside and flicked on some of the lights, not wanting to startle the sleeping Pokémon awake. Never the less, she was still greeted by some happy calls from stalls scattered around the building, the Pokémon inside having grown used to Devra’s routine by now. She grabbed her push cart full of different feed mixtures, humming to herself as she started feeding everyone down one side of the building then working her way back down the other side. The last stall she always took care of was that housing her favorite family. Her partner Pokémon Fiona was laying in hay next to her mate, Peach’s Pokémon Titan. While they still dozed there was already a nose poking over the stall door, little Aliza always excited to see her mom’s favorite human.
Not too long after her coffee, peach had thrown an outfit on, and ambled towards the stables, she needed a mount today, and figured it was a good time to pop across, see how everyone was doing. A few members of the barn groups had to be checked on, at least once or twice a week, peach could leave the busy work to Devra and she appreciated it, but still had to go do the general health checks needed to keep everyone monitored, especially as the winter was threatening to roll in heavily. She kicked the door too a bit, Val going in first, clocking Devra, leaning over the stall door to pet the young ponyta. Upon seeing peach Titan stretched his neck as high as possible, able to see over the stall doors, giving a cry to ‘come over here’.
“morning everyone, Dev, Fiona, lil baby bean lady. She smushed Alisa’s little face briefly before focusing on her big fire type who stayed lying down. “Buddy, parenthood has slowed you down.” She teased the Rapidash, his body finally getting up, looking more sprightly now, putting his entire face in hers, hot gross morning breath and all.
Devra had moved down a few stalls by the time the Professor came in. She had just opened the door to the pasture, letting out a handful of wooloo out so she could clean their stall. She grinned she heard her name called. “Morning Professor! Hi Valka!” She dusted herself off and went to join them, grinning as she watched Peach. “Titan had a particularly rude wake up call today. Aliza tried to jump over him again. Failed terribly though. Knocked the wind out of both of them for a second. I watched them though. They both got over it quick. And Fiona gave the little bean a good scolding.” She sighed, giving her own rapidash attention as she finally got up to the door.
“certainly giving them both a lot to deal with day to day. She’s getting so boisterous now.” Aliza was running in and out of the entry to the paddocks, running circles around a stray girafarig, small in size but otherwise ordinary looking. “you been spending time with her recently? She’s about ready to start doing some proper training, got all that energy and no where to direct it.” With a final pat to the family, they seemed happy to go out to graze.
the professor wandered from stall to stall, some Pokemon remaining in to avoid the morning frost, greeting her as she passed by. “‘have you given any thought to who to take with you on our trip back to Galar?” She mindlessly hung up any stray harnesses, returning items to their homes.
She followed along with the Professor, opening doors and adding water or feed here and there as they went. “I’m not sure. I was thinking Zek or Fiona. But Zek has gotten really into it with the bug community around here. The little ones love playing with him so much. They use him as a slide! But I think he really likes it too. He never turns them down. And Fiona...I think she’d like to stay with her man. We don’t know how long we’re going to be there after all.” She sighed, rubbing her neck as she let out three Kanto ponyta. “It’s a real head scratcher.”
The colder climate was an oncoming issue to prep for, hearing she had thought through taking Zek was very logical. That centiscorch had a lovely nature to travel with.
“‘how about the youngster, Aliza. She’s about ready to start seeing the world, and we won’t be gone for too long.” The family looked happy out in the field, but it was noticeable how much energy the little hybrid ponyta had now. The professor stooped to pet a passing wumple, placing him higher up to avoid getting stepped on.
“‘there’s also potentially one other Pokemon you might want to see before you make your mind up, rung of the litter, a bit scrappy but a good strong hybrid.” She left a lot of details out, the Pokemon she had in mind for the trip was a particularly fun little guy, but they had yet to home him. Perhaps this would be a good fit for both the Pokemon and Devra.
Devra finished the last of her tasks, closing the stall as she turned to Peach. “I was entertaining the idea of taking Aliza. It would be nice to have a good strong bond with her.” She brushed herself off again as they left the barn. “Well, if you think it’s a good idea to take a look then I’d love to see the little guy.”
The last time peach had checked the Pokemon in question was up near the water plant. Professor Grey was the owner of the young pokemons father, a rather gentle houndoom, who had been a household pet to both peach and grey for a fair few years now. The mother of the Pokemon was an arcanine, and having had her pups and completed her rehabilitation, she had since been rehomed, along with several brothers and sisters, all beautiful hybrids. The last, however, was very small and so he stayed behind and got extra care. Peach had been overly quiet, forgetting to speak out loud sometimes.
“I think you’ll really like them, they’re a bit different.”
Devra grinned as her friend Mel, a sweet little Chatot came over to join her. “I’m always up to meeting new Pokémon. And you know I’m a sucker for different. That part of the reason I’m so excited to go explore the Crown Tundra.”
She nodded once in response and glanced up at the clock hanging at the end of the barn.
“want to go now? Not got any patients until later today.”
She looked around the barn, doing one last run through of her mental checklist. “I’ve got the morning rounds done. And anyone that wants in the pasture is already outside. So I don’t see why we can’t go now.”

Haikyuu characters: dom, sub, switch
A/N: I had way too much fun writing this, most of the things in here are controversial and I´m not sorry
Dom:
Iwaizumi: Look, there is no way in hell this man is anything but a top. He just screams dominance.
Kuroo: now, to be honest I struggled a bit with this because I thought that maybe he could be a switch, but idk I just don´t think so anymore. While Kuroo is a dork and awkward sometimes, when it comes to sexual encounters he makes use of his talent to provocate and always finding the right words.
Ushijima: Pretty much the same as Iwaizumi, I just don´t see him any other way. He´s a soft top though because he doesn´t want to hurt you. Only is rough when you ask him.
Kageyama: he´s too proud to bottom. Doesn´t really know what to do as a top, but he will refuse to bottom at all cost.
Ennoshita: soft and caring top. He´s like ´let me take care of everything´
Tsukishima: teasing top, likes it when you put up a fight but will always remain a top
Kiyoko: look, she knows what she wants and she knows just how to make you feel good, so she´ll make sure to take control
Saeko: sex for her is mostly about having fun, but she mostly tops to show you what she likes and honestly she´s the top that makes you forget your own name
Yaku: he might look smol and cute, but that changes in bed. He´s into praise and worship, so tell him exactly what he´s doing to you right now, tell him how good he makes you feel.
Inuoka: another soft top! he makes you laugh during sex so you ease up a bit
Matsuwaka: ´sir´ top. all about you behaving and him punishing you

Yachi: she´s super shy so when you and her do it she still hides her face
Akiteru: he just wants you to feel good and he always feels best when you´re on top, it´s like you know all of his soft spots and he loves it
Udai: with his job he just wants to come home to you and be taken care of
Yamamoto: worships you so much!! just wants to be a good boy for you
Alisa: she just loves  being spoiled silly, and honestly who could say no to her?
Kunimi: another little bitch, very bratty bottom. every time you ask him if he´d rather top, he´s all pouty, like ´no´
Kindaichi: shy bean, doesn´t have much experience and feels safer with you topping

3. Tell us something about the world/universe in which your muse lives.
Leia has an amplifying quirk where she can amplify and enhance someone else’s quirk after physically touching them. Which I feel is possibly extremely rare (or I like to think it is?) for her to have. She also lives with her grandparents as her parents travel all around the world as they are archaeologists. 
4. What’s your favourite headcanon about your muse?
Oh no… this is a hard one as I have a few favourite headcanons for her. ^^;;;;I think? I’ll choose the one about when she uses her quirk on someone, that it gives them a warm and comforting feeling. This is very much from her sweet and kind personality.
5. What’s something only very few people know about your muse?
Ummm… shit…. honestly not sure? I don’t remember off the top of my head what I’ve posted and haven’t posted / told someone about Leia. I have made a post Here about how she tries / slowly will succeed in another aspect of her quirk.
6. Are there parts of your muse that resemble parts of yourself?
Sure there are a few things, but the biggest one is putting our feelings last, if that makes sense? I’ll try and explain asjjhsdghsd see umm… even if we are having an extremely bad day, something happening to a loved one, or anything where we are feeling down, we won’t voice it. We don’t want to bother people with it and or make them sad, especially if people are already having a rough time. We don’t want to add to it and make them feel worse or something.We will just act as if everything is fine and focus on helping the other person instead who is having a rough time. Or even if the other person is having a normal day we still won’t say anything.If we do happen to say we are feeling down, it means we trust you, but it’s still kinda rare asjdhdsg we still rather not say anything.

8. How did you choose the name for your muse? 
I don’t remember if it was when I was looking at one of those baby name websites or looking up a meaning of a name? That is what I do when looking for a name of a muse, but I swear she named herself. She was like, My name is Leia and I went with it. Possibly a bit after a certain space princess, but I didn’t think of that at the time.
9. If your muse could be a canon character in any fandom, which fandom would you choose?
How dare she is Canon in bnha.I love to imagine HD screaming/yelling in the distance “LEIA IS CANON!” and it makes me smile so big while getting flustered at the same time.
10. Do you ship your muse with any canon characters? 
One so far for it being romantic~ That is with @unsuccesscr ‘s Izuku bean
I haven’t really interacted with many other canon characters to really know? uuuuh if that makes sense?? But if our muses click then I don’t see why not~

tea or coffee ? honestly is alive only thanks to coffee. 
lace or velvet ? lace is so aesthetically pleasing. 
wine or beer ? avoids alcohol most of the time but honestly would have expensive wine over beer any time. he was raised by an old rich pureblood family, he has those fine tastes. would probably even share the same top 3 with lucius malfoy, ew. 
flying or apparating ? no one can chase you apparating. what’s the worst that could happen besides some splinching anyway. 
quills or pens ? quills, because it’s what feels right, what he was raised using, what a good dramatic bitch like him would love. but always with a muggle marker right next to him. those big chunky things are the best invention. 
summer or winter ? it’s worse weather for work and order stuff and he knows it, but damn if he doesn’t love winter. the storms, the snow, the freezing cold, the huge coats. feels so cozy ?? and intense ?? 
muggle music or wizard music ? is very very picky with music, but mostly goes for more jazz-like vibes, and especially older muggle music. and, of course, the wizard classics his parents listened to. 
hot or iced ? burn off his lips, or don’t exist at all. 
moon or stars ? who cares about the moon ! alastor does, but also, we just have one ! because this doesn’t include other moons ! SO MANY STARS ! let him tell you facts about half of them !

radio or newspaper ? newspaper feels more personal, and he can cut off articles for his crime boards and just make shim feel like he’s stored the information better if he’s read it. 
vocal or silent spells ? silent as often as possible. lives for the element of surprise (okay u know that scene in BvS where batman is hiding in the corner of a ceiling and then BOOM attack ? u turn around and he’s there, spell already on the way)
garden or forest ? his training and experience says garden, because it’s a more controleld setting, less surprises, less possible outcomes. but he loves dense scary forests filled with creatures and ancient trees and so isolated from the rest of the world ! except the bugs. fucking hates bugs anywhere. 
bag or backpack ? charmed hidden pockets but, if needed, a backpack is the most practical item. 
tea leaf reading or tarot card ? will let someone go with the tea leaf just to amuse them, but 110% doesn’t believe in either. 
celestina warbeck or OMEN ? yes. his music taste is very much more jazz-y, and he quite likes older muggle jazz too. probably has no idea what OMEN is. 
neat or messy handwriting ? has a surprisingly neat handwriting, full of little details and flourishes, but writes most things in some sort of personal code, so you can’t make much sense of what’s there other than it’s pretty. 
lower case or all caps ? everything is URGENT
pancakes or crepes ? waffles. ever since he got a muggle waffler iron, his life has never been the same. 
bertie bott’s every flavour beans or chocolate frogs ? bertie bott’s beans, we die like men
hogsmeade or diagon alley ? hogsmeade is innocence. it’s hogwarts and reunions with old friends there, and light shopping. diagon alley feels more like work - has to patrol it often, finds many criminals there, does his own shady business in and around there. 
over the word count or the bare minimum ? at school he was that one who went like 800 words over the max. now ? you’ll get three very simple sentences at best. 
ghosts or werewolves ? ghosts are so sad and he’s secretly so afraid of becoming one. looks at one for too long and feels so anxious, nope. 
cloud watching or star gazing ? let’s go outside, hold hands, watch the stars, tell the constellations and facts about their chemical compositions ! 
countryside or city ? city, city, city. loves visiting the countryside, especially in the highlands, but can feel himself grow into a terrible mood if he stays there for too long. the youthfulness and movement and sound of the city makes him feel alive. 
witch weekly or the quibbler ? fucking hell. 
fresh fruit or fresh flowers ? fresh fruits always ! you can eat the fruit, you can’t eat the flowers ! 
sweet or sour ? the sweetest tooth. 
big spoon or little spoon ? little spoon ! i’ve said this, he’s a soft bitch ! 
rooftop or balcony ? open field or inside. 
nearly headless nick or the grey lady ? his taste for gory shit was vert often satisfied.

pearls or diamonds ? diamonds can be very discreet and pretty while pearls are so chunky. 
dinosaur kid or fairytale kid ? fairytale kid. loved listening to folk stories from the older muggles, loved the way magic was portrayed in muggle children’s books, loved mythology. reenacted faitytale scenes by himself or with kingsley and later alisa when they were little. 
poetry or prose ? prose. he wants the information going straight from the pages to his brain, not having to interpret all that written song. 
cats, owls or frogs ? owls are practical, and gorgeous, majestic, just feel so wizard-specific.

Shoyo Hinata
- A shit ton of screaming goes on when you two interact
- You two really like hitting shit
- You like to watch Hinata practice and he loves it so much
- One time you knocked the salt shaker off the counter and Hinata tried to receive it
- Hinata is surprisingly mellow when you get stressed or hurt. He tends to be reasonably responsible when it comes to Natsu's or your health.
- When Tsukishima or someone comments on your equally short height, Hinata is a little smol bean and jumps in to start a fight
- “What'd ya say about [name]?? Wanna fight?!”
- you’re always willing to toss to Hinata, no matter how you’re feeling or what time it is
- when Hinata gets too excited you ring him in and calm him down

Greek Pasta Salad from Go Dairy Free
If you’ve been reading my site for any length of time, you already know I’m a huge fan of Alisa Fleming from Go Dairy Free. I first met Alisa over 10 years ago (hard to believe, now!), when I was just starting out on the blogging scene and Alisa was already a seasoned professional.
I reviewed the first edition of Go Dairy Free back in 2009 and my effusive description summed up then how I felt about it:
“It was pure pleasure sampling these items from the book, every one of which I’d make again.  I’m looking forward to trying out many more of these reliable, interesting and tasty recipes.  Go Dairy Free is that rare combination in a food-related tome: great food and great advice, all under one inviting cover. “

Well, not much has changed in my response to Alisa’s information and recipes since then, although the book itself has definitely changed! Now in an all-new, updated and expanded edition, Go Dairy Free truly is the only book you’ll need if you adopt a non-dairy diet and lifestyle.

Inside this comprehensive tome, you’ll find chapters that address dairy and dairy-free from a health perspective; tips on eating away from home; grocery shopping and kitchen prep; virtually everything you ever wanted to know about dairy substitutes; and, of course, the recipes (more than 250 of them!).
There are recipes galore. From homemade plant-based milks, cream, cheeses and other beverages to breakfast recipes, baked goods, snacks, spreads/dips, soups, pizzas, pastas, other mains, sides, cookies, cakes, puddings, pies, ice creams and other sweet treats, you’ll quickly see that nothing is missing in a dairy-free diet.
Check out the Peanut Butter Cinnamon Popcorn (I’d use almond butter nowadays, of course) I included in the original review, as well as photos of the other dishes I tried back then (before I was even following the ACD!).
This time round, I’ve bookmarked the sliceable sandwich cheeze, dukkah avocado toast, fudge brownie cookies, snickerdoodle cashew ice cream and so many more that I can’t wait to try!
But the recipe I’m sharing today is also an incredible winner, both in taste, texture, and general appeal.
As usual, the hubs wasn’t keen on trying out something containing tofu. We had a typical exchange when I first received the book and was leafing through, attempting to find a recipe to try out.
The scene: Ricki and the HH sit in the living room, reading. Ricki is flipping through the new edition of Go Dairy Free, drooling over each and every recipe. Finally, she pauses and looks up at the HH.
Ricki: Mmm, this one looks great–Greek Pasta Salad. What do you think?
HH: It depends. What’s in it?
Ricki: Well there’s pasta–
HH: You mean your crazy non-pasta pasta? No way.
Ricki: You’ve had that pasta before. You love it! You must have just forgotten.
HH: [Looking skeptical.] Well, I dunno—
Ricki: And cubes of feta–
HH: [Raises eyebrows] Real feta?
Ricki: No, it’s marinated tofu, which tastes exactly like–
HH: No tofu.
Ricki: But it really does taste good! I’m sure you’ll–
HH: Nope, no way. No tofu.
Ricki: [internal wheels turning furiously]: Okay, fine, I won’t make this one. [Secretly aware that hubby’s memory of this discussion will remain intact for about 14.2 seconds].
The following week, on Wednesday evening, Ricki trots out to the table with a huge bowl of–Greek Pasta Salad!
HH: [eyeing the bowl suspiciously] What’s this?
Ricki: It’s a pasta salad, with a bunch of yummy Greek-inspired flavors and ingredients. Look, it has your favorite black olives and artichoke hearts! [She smiles sweetly.]
HH: Hmmmnnn. Well, I dunno. . . . .
Ricki: Just try a little bit. [She scoops a couple of tablespoons onto his plate].
HH: [looking around desperately for anything else to eat] Well, okayyyyy. . . . . 
He takes a small nibble.
HH: [His face brightening] Hey, this isn’t bad. [Shoves a forkful into his mouth]. You know what, this is pretty good! Have I had this pasta before? It’s great. [Keeps eating until sample is gone]. Yeah, this was fabulous. Can I have some more of that? You should really make this again! Is that feta cheese in there–?
Ricki chuckles softly to herself.
Don’t worry, I did reveal that it was tofu in there. And as predicted, he was incredulous. It really does taste like feta cheese!
Since then, Hubby has invoked me to make it again–and again. He’s come to accept that tofu can actually taste good (yay!).  Luckily for him, I loved the salad too, so we’ve been feasting on Greek Pasta Salad over the past 3 weeks quite regularly.
If you love feta cheese, you’ll no doubt adore the marinated tofu, which resembles the “real thing” so closely it might even be a bit eerie. Paired with toothsome pasta, crunchy fresh vegetables and pungent bits of olive and artichoke hearts, this truly is a meal in one, with the advantage that it can also be prepared in advance (in fact, I found it’s better that way–see my notes below the recipe).
I hope you enjoy the salad as much as we do here. And I’ll leave it up to you whether you mention that it’s actually tofu before–or after–your family or guests have already decided they love it.

Greek Pasta Salad

Alisa says, “Tofu soaks up the flavors of the marinade for a mock feta cheese in this somewhat traditional recipe.” See my notes below the recipe.
1 pound (500 g) rotini or fusilli pasta (I used Chickapea)
6 Tbsp (90 ml) extra virgin olive oil
6 Tbsp (90 ml) red or white wine vinegar (see notes, below)
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp (30 ml) dried oregano
4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tsp/10 ml)
1/2 to 1 tsp (2.5 to 5 ml) fine sea salt, or to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
8 ounces (275-375 g package) firm tofu, drained and crumbled or cut into 1/2-inch (2.5 cm) cubes
1 (14-ounce or 400 ml) can artichoke hearts, drained and quartered
1 cup (240 ml) cooked chickpeas/garbanzo beans
1 cup (240 ml) chopped yellow onion (1 small to medium onion)
1 bell pepper, any color, cored and chopped
1/2 pound (225 g) tomatoes, halved if small or cut into 1/2-inch (2.5 cm) chunks
1 (2-1/4 ounce/70 g) can sliced olives, drained (I used oil-cured black olives)
Cook pasta according to package directins while preparing the tofu and vinaigrette.
In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, vinegar, lemon juice, oregano, garlic, slat and pepper. Add the tofu and toss to coat it with the vinaigrette.
Rinse the cooked pasta in cool water. Add the pasta, artichoke hearts, beans, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes and olives to the tofu and vinaigrette. Toss to evenly ocat the ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least one hour, but preferably overnight.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Makes 8 servings. Not suitable for freezing.
Ricki’s notes: To accommodate candida-diet eaters, I used apple cider vinegar in place of the other vinegar. Because ACV is so acidic, I added 5 drops of plain liquid stevia to cut the acidic taste. It worked beautifully.
I also added some fresh basil from my garden, just because I had it and I knew that basil would work well with these flavors. I highly recommend it!
I didn’t add the chickpeas because my pasta is made from chickpeas, but I’m sure they would be delicious in this.
Finally, I marinated the tofu on its own in the vinaigrette overnight before tossing with remaining salad ingredients. I found that the tofu absorbed more of the flavors that way (and made it more hubby-friendly, as well).
Suitable for: ACD All stages; refined sugar-free, gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, egg free, soy-free, nut free, yeast-free, vegan, low glycemic.

Ricki: You’ve had that pasta before. You love it! You must have just forgotten.
HH: [Looking skeptical.] Well, I dunno—
Ricki: And cubes of feta–
HH: [Raises eyebrows] Real feta?
Ricki: No, it’s marinated tofu, which tastes exactly like–
HH: No tofu.
Ricki: But it really does taste good! I’m sure you’ll–
HH: Nope, no way. No tofu.
Ricki: [internal wheels turning furiously]: Okay, fine, I won’t make this one. [Secretly aware that hubby’s memory of this discussion will remain intact for about 14.2 seconds].
The following week, on Wednesday evening, Ricki trots out to the table with a huge bowl of–Greek Pasta Salad!
HH: [eyeing the bowl suspiciously] What’s this?
Ricki: It’s a pasta salad, with a bunch of yummy Greek-inspired flavors and ingredients. Look, it has your favorite black olives and artichoke hearts! [She smiles sweetly.]
HH: Hmmmnnn. Well, I dunno. . . . .
Ricki: Just try a little bit. [She scoops a couple of tablespoons onto his plate].
HH: [looking around desperately for anything else to eat] Well, okayyyyy. . . . . 
He takes a small nibble.
HH: [His face brightening] Hey, this isn’t bad. [Shoves a forkful into his mouth]. You know what, this is pretty good! Have I had this pasta before? It’s great. [Keeps eating until sample is gone]. Yeah, this was fabulous. Can I have some more of that? You should really make this again! Is that feta cheese in there–?
Ricki chuckles softly to herself.
Don’t worry, I did reveal that it was tofu in there. And as predicted, he was incredulous. It really does taste like feta cheese!
Since then, Hubby has invoked me to make it again–and again. He’s come to accept that tofu can actually taste good (yay!).  Luckily for him, I loved the salad too, so we’ve been feasting on Greek Pasta Salad over the past 3 weeks quite regularly.
If you love feta cheese, you’ll no doubt adore the marinated tofu, which resembles the “real thing” so closely it might even be a bit eerie. Paired with toothsome pasta, crunchy fresh vegetables and pungent bits of olive and artichoke hearts, this truly is a meal in one, with the advantage that it can also be prepared in advance (in fact, I found it’s better that way–see my notes below the recipe).
I hope you enjoy the salad as much as we do here. And I’ll leave it up to you whether you mention that it’s actually tofu before–or after–your family or guests have already decided they love it.

Greek Pasta Salad

Alisa says, “Tofu soaks up the flavors of the marinade for a mock feta cheese in this somewhat traditional recipe.” See my notes below the recipe.
1 pound (500 g) rotini or fusilli pasta (I used Chickapea)
6 Tbsp (90 ml) extra virgin olive oil
6 Tbsp (90 ml) red or white wine vinegar (see notes, below)
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp (30 ml) dried oregano
4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tsp/10 ml)
1/2 to 1 tsp (2.5 to 5 ml) fine sea salt, or to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
8 ounces (275-375 g package) firm tofu, drained and crumbled or cut into 1/2-inch (2.5 cm) cubes
1 (14-ounce or 400 ml) can artichoke hearts, drained and quartered
1 cup (240 ml) cooked chickpeas/garbanzo beans
1 cup (240 ml) chopped yellow onion (1 small to medium onion)
1 bell pepper, any color, cored and chopped
1/2 pound (225 g) tomatoes, halved if small or cut into 1/2-inch (2.5 cm) chunks
1 (2-1/4 ounce/70 g) can sliced olives, drained (I used oil-cured black olives)
Cook pasta according to package directins while preparing the tofu and vinaigrette.
In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, vinegar, lemon juice, oregano, garlic, slat and pepper. Add the tofu and toss to coat it with the vinaigrette.
Rinse the cooked pasta in cool water. Add the pasta, artichoke hearts, beans, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes and olives to the tofu and vinaigrette. Toss to evenly ocat the ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate the salad for at least one hour, but preferably overnight.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Makes 8 servings. Not suitable for freezing.
Ricki’s notes: To accommodate candida-diet eaters, I used apple cider vinegar in place of the other vinegar. Because ACV is so acidic, I added 5 drops of plain liquid stevia to cut the acidic taste. It worked beautifully.
I also added some fresh basil from my garden, just because I had it and I knew that basil would work well with these flavors. I highly recommend it!
I didn’t add the chickpeas because my pasta is made from chickpeas, but I’m sure they would be delicious in this.
Finally, I marinated the tofu on its own in the vinaigrette overnight before tossing with remaining salad ingredients. I found that the tofu absorbed more of the flavors that way (and made it more hubby-friendly, as well).

Maybe you’ve been following my blog for a while and you’ve noticed that I’m usually more into savory recipes. But of course I also love vegan desserts, so I teamed up with some fellow food bloggers to provide you with a stunning list of vegan dessert recipes!
What Are Vegan Desserts?
Vegan desserts are desserts that don’t contain any eggs or dairy products such as milk or cream. Although many people still believe making vegan desserts is complicated and expensive, this is definitely not the case! It’s super easy to use dairy-free alternatives such as coconut cream, almond milk, or even nuts such as cashews.
Instead of eggs you can use:
bananans
applesauce
flaxseeds or chia seeds
store-bought vegan egg replacers
or even aquafaba (the liquid from canned beans)
All of these egg replacements work similar to eggs in baked goods. Bananas for example add moisture while flaxseeds work really well for binding.

How To Make Vegan Desserts
Basically you can veganize any dessert you want. In most cases, you can just swap some of the ingredients and use plant-based milk instead of cow’s milk and vegan egg replacements (I listed a few above). Then you follow mostly the same steps as you would with non-vegan desserts.
Baking a vegan cake isn’t really that much of a difference. And it’s not more complicated at all. You just have to use some different ingredients.
Are Vegan Desserts Healthy?
I think in most cases vegan desserts are healthier than traditional desserts using dairy and eggs. Mostly because many vegan dessert recipes call for healthier versions of sweeteners such as maple syrup or dates. But keep in mind that vegan desserts are still a sweet treat that you don’t enjoy every day. So healthy desserts are rather rare.
While there are some healthy vegan dessert recipes out there, others are still loaded with sugar. But hey, I mean it’s dessert, right? It’s totally fine once in a while! It’s not like you’re having it for breakfast.
If you’re looking for healthy desserts, you might want to check out raw vegan desserts like my vegan strawberry tiramisu. They’re usually sugar-free and made of nuts that are blended into cream. Instead of sugar those recipes use dates.
How To Make Raw Vegan Desserts
Raw vegan desserts are mostly made with nuts, seeds, and dried fruits like dates. Dates also function as natural sweeteners in raw desserts. They’re kind of like nature’s candy! Vegan desserts with dates are simply the best!
In most cases you need a high speed blender to process the ingredients for raw desserts. For example soaked cashews make an amazing cream when they’re blended. They make the most delicious raw vegan cheesecake! I was a bit skeptical when I first tried making a cake with cashews, but it works really well and is super healthy.
Raw vegan desserts are:
soooo much healthier than regular desserts
made with unprocessed ingredients
sweetened with natural sweeteners like dried fruits, most commonly dates
no-bake
gluten-free
Vegan Desserts You Can Buy
Sometimes you’re in a hurry and you don’t have enough time to make a homemade vegan dessert. We all know this feeling! In this case, you’ve got some vegan desserts you can buy at the grocery store.
My favorites are:
Vegan ice cream in all kinds of flavors (add fresh berries and other berries and maybe even some crumbled vegan cookies for a decadent vegan dessert that is ready in just minutes)
Vegan yogurt or pudding (you can use it to make a vegan trifle with berries and maybe some granola or store-bought vegan cookies)
And sometimes you can even find vegan muffins, donuts, or cakes (for example at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods Market)

I Completely Overhauled My Diet to Tackle PMS
When I got my first period at 12, I was home alone. Much like the protagonist of Judy Blume’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret., I had pleaded with the universe to become a woman, a transformation my two older sisters had already undergone. While I was grateful to have some privacy in that moment, what I didn’t realize was that, in some respect, I would feel alone in dealing with my menstrual cycle for most of my life.
I had never compared and contrasted my symptoms with peers (bleeding so heavy I once told my mom I’d “lost an ovary in the toilet,” lightheadedness to the point of fainting in public, acne, crippling cramps), so I thought everything I experienced was normal. I also thought my symptoms could only be fixed with birth control. That model of thinking went uninterrupted until this year, when I came across an enthusiastic wellness blogger who touted the benefits of something she called “cycle syncing,” which she’d learned from a book called WomanCode.
Written by “nutritionist and women’s hormone expert” Alisa Vitti while in search of a holistic approach to treating her Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), WomanCode teaches women how to stave off hormonal, PMS, and period symptoms by eating a certain way, knowing what types of exercise to do (and when), and even managing work and social engagements.
At first I scoffed at this blogger’s over-sharing of the details of her menstrual cycle (“Off to yoga — I’m in my luteal phase!” she’d say, swigging a superfood-spiked matcha). In a hateful, premenstrual bout, I seethed at her cheery demeanor and clear skin. What could she possibly know about the torture that I endured on a monthly basis? Then it hit me: What did I know? So I dug in further.
WomanCode focuses on healing the endocrine system, which controls your hormones. In addition to the more widely known period systems like cramps, mood swings, and bloating, hormones can cause of a whole host of issues: dandruff, anxiety, cravings, hair loss, and hair growth, loss of sex drive.
Vitti has also created an app, MyFlo, which you can use to predict your period, track your symptoms and get feedback on what to eat, what exercises to do, and even how your significant other can better tend to your needs. Despite the fact I had long ago accepted the fact that getting my period means being tortured on a monthly basis, I figured I had nothing to lose (besides the $1.99) so I uploaded MyFlo and embarked upon a month-long experiment, focused specifically on the dietary suggestions.
Before I share my food diary, let me tell you the basics. The dietary guidance is split up among four phases: follicular, ovulation, luteal, menstruation; I began during my luteal. They don’t perfectly map by week — some are longer than others and they’ll vary by person — but I estimated mine based on the provided info. Also, this isn’t an actual “diet.” The app is structured in a way that, in addition to sharing general nutrition info that corresponds to each phase, you can punch in your various symptoms (sadly, I didn’t see road rage as an option) to customize food suggestions even further. It’s different for everyone. As a nutritionist, Vitta’s food selections are based on their ability to optimize bodily functions. It’s nothing weird — arguably things we should all be eating anyway. That said, from the get-go I nixed (or tried to, at least) a few things that the author explains can cause hormones to go haywire: caffeine (noooooo!), refined sugar, soy, red meat, and dairy. Here’s how it went.
Luteal Phase (Duration: 7-14 days)
The luteal phase “occurs after ovulation (when your ovaries release an egg) and before your period starts.” In other words, it’s the latter two weeks of a four-week cycle.
Recommended Food: B vitamin-rich foods including eggs, seafood, and leafy greens; baked root vegetables; probiotic foods like kimchi and sauerkraut; cilantro; vitamin E-packed foods like almonds and avocados.
The Science: According to my app, this is when “estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone reach their peak concentrations, and then begin to fall to their lowest levels right before bleeding.” Vitamin B foods help manage blood sugar, while the root veggies can cleanse the liver, flushing out excess estrogen. Probiotics reduce bloat, chlorophyll-packed cilantro can clear the skin, and Vitamin E is an anti-inflammatory that can aid breast pain. (All the research is cited in the app.)
How I felt: Leaving Whole Foods with heavy bags full of hormone-friendly ingredients for the week, I felt hopeful—especially after examining my ever-present chin/jawline acne. Eating dishes like baked sweet potatoes topped with black beans and guacamole or scrambled eggs with fermented veggies wasn’t terribly out of my comfort zone (I tend to cook healthfully at home) but a life without caffeine was. I opted to keep up my two-cups-day coffee routine seeing as giving up pastries was hard enough. LET ME LIVE!
Menstruation (Duration: 3-7 days)
Menstruation is, duh, when you’re actually bleeding. After your unfertilized egg unceremoniously exits the Fallopian tube, it breaks apart and your uterine lining begins to shed. A fun time!
Recommended Food: Low-glycemic fruits and veggies; protein; seaweed; Omega 3 fatty acids; beets.
The Science: According to Vitti, if you regularly struggle with cramping, diet could be a part of the problem. The app explains, “your body isn’t making enough of the right type of prostaglandins […] and too much of another type” as a result of a lack of essential fatty acids, which also help fight inflammation. The low-glycemic foods will supposedly keep my blood sugar in check, while beets boost iron for anemic folks like myself, and seaweed can replaces minerals lost.
How I Felt: Out the gate I have cramping that’s not unlike getting a womb massage from Edward Scissorhands, extreme nausea, heavy bleeding, and a shooting pain in my left breast. Fun times all around. I still haven’t kicked my coffee habit but I’m starting to seriously consider because this is one doozy of a period. In short: not only do I not notice any improvement just yet (given, it’s early), but I could swear some symptoms are even worse.
Follicular Phase (Duration: 7-10 days)
The follicular phase is when the follicles in your ovary mature, just before you enter ovulation.
Recommended Foods: Fresh fruits and vegetables; hearty whole grains (like buckwheat); lean protein (seafood or beans, since I’m not doing red meat).
The Science: According to MyFlo, my hormones are at low levels post-menstruation and nutrient-packed foods will get my energy back on track.
How I Felt: Though I was tired as hell, I woke up around 4 a.m. every night (WHY), so I finally vowed to swap out coffee for matcha (that’s something, no?). To help me sleep and curb sugar cravings, I’d have a cup of Four Sigmatic’s adaptogenic hot cocoa after dinner every night, which was a trick I learned during the one-and-only cleanse I’ve done in my life. This tasty little elixir has reishi mushrooms to soothe the stress monster that had taken over my body and cinnamon and coconut palm sugar to give me the sweet fix I’d been hankering for without spiking my blood sugar.
Ovulation (Duration: 3-5 days)
Ovulation occurs when your matured egg is released from the ovary, travels down the Fallopian tube, and patiently awaits being fertilized. This is the phase where those who want to — or don’t want to — get pregnant should be on high alert.
Recommended Foods: Fibrous fruits and veggies and light grains, like corn and quinoa.
The Science: During this phase, testosterone surges, then drops. According to Vitti, “elimination” (read: poop) is an important part of ridding your body of the surplus of estrogen, hence all that fiber. Eating lots of raw fruits and veggies gives you the vitamins and antioxidants for high-functioning and healthy ovaries.
How I Felt: Something strange happened. By this stage in the game, I honestly started to believe that my usual symptoms in each cycle had been magnified. My breast pain returned, but in the form of overall swollen tenderness, and already I was experiencing some cramping. My joints were sore, my chin still hadn’t totally cleared and my bloat was like that last party guest who refused to leave. WHY?!
Right around the 30-day mark, I felt like I was falling apart. Were my hormones totally confused? What the hell had I done?
Out of desperation, I finally cut out caffeine completely, supplementing with herbal chicory coffee. Additionally, I started taking evening primrose oil capsules daily and drinking tea with dong quai — both of which balance hormones and are recommended by Vitti’s text. Then, the clouds parted: my omnipresent chin acne dissipated for the first time in I don’t even know and I began waking up to a (relatively) flat tummy. Some symptoms still have a ways to go (a full night of uninterrupted sleep would still be nice) as I imagine breaking the cycle probably takes a bit longer than a month.
As woo-woo as it sounds, I believe I’ve experienced a powerful transformation in simply being this tuned-in to my body and considerate of what goes into it. As time goes by, and I’m given physiological clues as to what’s benefitting — and not benefitting — my health, I may have (okay, I will have) a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza again. To be honest, what MyFlo has taught me to do is not wholly radical: I ate all the things I should probably have been eating anyways — but perhaps never knew how foods could so directly affect my hormonal health and aid in symptoms I thought I’d never kick for good. But beyond that, I believe it’s been invaluable to have this experiment as a way of engaging with friends about their own “period problems,” knowing that — at the very least — I’m definitely not in this alone.

Exactly What To Eat For A Happier, Less Painful Period
Menstrual pain is a common complaint from many of my patients. It can actually be debilitating for some women, causing them to miss work or important events, which can negatively affect their quality of life.
Traditionally a physician will prescribe pain medicine and birth control pills to ease the pain, but you can actually make a huge difference in the health and happiness of your periods simply with the food you eat. Try following these dietary guidelines, and see if it makes a difference before resorting to more drastic tactics.
Eat more healthy fats.
I encourage patients to incorporate a more anti-inflammatory or Mediterranean diet into their lifestyle. You can easily incorporate more foods containing omega-3 fatty acids into your overall diet or take a supplement if approved by your medical provider. Omega-3s decrease inflammation and the pain associated with menstrual cycles. You can get enough by eating two to three servings of cold-water fish (like salmon, sardines, or herring) per week, as well as enjoying plant-based sources like walnuts, green leafy vegetables, chia seeds, and eggs.
Top up your magnesium consumption.

Magnesium is a mineral many women are deficient in. Magnesium is one of my favorite recommendations to patients because it helps improve anxiety, sleep, and headaches in addition to cramping caused by menstrual dysfunction and pain. Magnesium helps relax the uterine muscles, which is where menstrual pain occurs. Foods rich in magnesium include cashews, soybeans, spinach, almond, halibut. Try incorporating a few of these foods the day leading up to and during your menstrual cycle.
Check for Vitamin B deficiency.
Many women also have a B1 or thiamine deficiency, which manifests in muscle pain, cramping, and sometimes fatigue, which are all symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. Lean pork, fish, dried beans, peas, and fortified cereals are all rich in vitamin B1, so eating them could help to alleviate these symptoms.
Vitamin B6 is also another vitamin that tends to be low, which can cause menstrual pain. Vitamin B6 helps get the magnesium into the cell, helping the uterus relax more. Fortified cereal, potatoes with skin, bananas, chicken breasts, and pork loins are also high in vitamin B6. Sometimes your medical provider will recommend a good complete B-complex vitamin, which includes both vitamin B1 and B6. But talk to your doctor before starting one on your own.
Add extra Vitamin E.
Vitamin E is a great anti-inflammatory supplement to include in your regimen. Its anti-inflammatory properties are actually what help ease period pain and can help balance your hormones and menstrual flow.
Try incorporating vitamin E-rich foods a couple of days before your cycle to prevent cramping and anxiety. Foods that are high in vitamin E include almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach, broccoli, kale, sweet potato, and avocado. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, which fights free radicals that cause aging, which is why it’s also one of my favorite anti-aging secrets.
