“Sex work is work and should be protected” makes as much sense to me as saying “child labor is labor and should be protected”.

Many can clearly understand in the latter case why there are other moral considerations that remove child labor from labor advocacy. Or any other forms of labor exploitation for that matter. Why do they not extend the same evaluation to sex work?

I was/am a sex worker and I’m so sick of seeing people who have clearly never worked in the industry using sex workers as a reason to champion the work and promote it- specifically in TikTok’s where people will count tips and show how much profit they make:

I started sex work when I was freshly 18, I’m now 26 and the money I’ve made from johns is no where near enough for me to feel comfortable promoting this to people who don’t work in this industry. If you listen to nothing else listen to this: it’s not fucking worth it. I started this job because I was homeless, broke, hungry, and didn’t have too many qualifications. If I could have gotten any of the other jobs I applied for I would have.

Throughout the years I have tried this job I have been in hell. The fact that I am a virgin has attracted so many men, which you would think would attract more money but no. I just get even more creepy messages. In my phone I work I have men asking me to pretend to be: a child; their step daughter; their daughter; their niece; their neighbour, etc- it makes me sick and I report them every time but I can never know if those girls are saved or not. It keeps me up at night.

When I was legit starving to death I made a plea for help, offering anything in exchange for enough to buy a meal because I was that desperate. The men who responded asked for me to basically film me torturing myself for their amusement.

The women who were also sex workers who saw the post asked how they could send me money. I ate because of them.

I appreciate the work feminists are doing for women and sex work, but I don’t think they understand just how horrible it is, to the point where mt comments on posts have led to me being labelled as a swerf.

Idk how to rap this off, but please, instead of supporting sex work, support sex workers.

German Petition for the Nordic Model – Please Sign if You Can!

Hey everyone,

There’s a petition in Germany advocating for the Nordic Model. Currently, prostitution is legalized in Germany, and the petition calls for a change to the Nordic Model. The petition was initiated by Netzwerk Ella, a survivor-led initiative advocating for the abolition of prostitution.

The Truth and My Truth of Sex Trafficking

I’m so so tired of having to explain what sex trafficking actually is. It is not a suburban white woman being kidnapped in a Target parking lot, or little kids in suburban America being randomly taken off the street, zip tied in a van. It’s not what these idiotic Christian right winged vegetables have propagandized and profited off of in media.

What it IS, is teen girls and young women being coerced into doing sex work. It’s prostitutes with pimps, or porn actors with agents. It’s escort and porn agencies reaching out and roping girls in through their social media account messages and forcing them into contracts. It’s boyfriends making their girlfriends have sex with other men for money.

But of course, we don’t focus on that. Instead we blame survivors for being too stupid, or signing up to do it, or it wasn’t really that bad, etc. This is why I hate when women glamorize OF and porn because it’s not glamorous, it’s sex trafficking. It’s rape. The patriarchal media has made it so that sex trafficking isn’t this, but is actually mythical legends that rarely ever happen. That way, women’s bodies can still be used for profit. After all, they’re grown women, even at 18, so who cares right?

I’m so so so tired of having to explain this to people. And I’m tired of being shut down, minimized and having my trauma invalidated.
