Oceanclan’s couriers

Swiftcurrent - A bit of a withdrawn cat who absolutely hates living in Oceanclan. She became a courier as an excuse to be away from the camp as much as possible, and her clanmates only see her sparingly. She hates the clan culture and the stress of living there, but feels too pressured by family to consider changing clans.

Stormpetrel - Son of Ternfeather and Horizonshine’s cousin. The tom is conventionally handsome and has had a string of lovers across all four clans, and he revels in the attention. However, this behavior has left damage in his wake, culminating in him accidentally fathering three litters of kittens he refuses to take interest in, with angry mothers to match.

Swiftcurrent Falls is located in the Many Glacier area of the park. To reach Many Glacier, turn left off of Highway 89 at Babb, Montana. The 12 miles from the junction to Many Glacier are spectacular—the area is often compared to the Swiss Alps.

I solo hiked Highline to Swiftcurrent yesterday (16 miles, was an amazing hike) and when I was eating a granola bar at the Grinnell Glacier overlook these obnoxious vlogger bros roll up and the one with the camera is narrating like "whoaaa thats a real glacier, have you ever seen a glacier like that before buddy?" I'm just ignoring them eating my snack but then I feel what feels like a hand on my bare thigh (wearing shorts) and I look down and a chipmunk is sitting on my thigh eyeing my snack. So I go "WHOA!" and the vlogger bro turns his camera on me and I go... "that chipmunk was fully ON my leg" and he pans the camera to the chipmunk and goes "whooaaa chippy" so I am 100% gonna end up in some obnoxious youtube video.

Better human interactions on that hike include the family of 5 i talked to on the shuttle bus and the couple from Tennessee I met on Swiftcurrent Pass who asked me for a dinner recommendation in Many and I said "i'm just gonna get pizza and beer at the motor inn" and they said "see ya there" which they did, and they were staying the night at the hotel which was another mile and a half down the road but my car was parked right at the trailhead. Soooo they bought me a drink in exchange for giving them a ride to the hotel and when they got out the wife said "I know you're not an uber but.." and slipped me $40... all tourists should do that.

The Stars and Stripes with a Mountain Backdrop (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake with a view looking across those waters to the southwest and mountains of the Northern Lewis Range and Continental Divide. This is located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. One can see the light dusting of snow that had happened the night prior from a recent front that came through. With the clouds hanging over the mountains, there was a mood that seemed to draw me into the setting and image captured. My thought on composing this image was to align myself to center the flagpole with the American flag and then have a backdrop of the mountains behind it. Given I was doing post-processing work with this image a few days before Veterans Day, I felt that day would add to the memories of my time and service as an Army officer.
