Greetings to you and before anything else, Happy 5th Year anniversary to Spy × Family!

Just came to notice that today actually marks the 5th year of the release of Spy × Family. Coincidentally, I finished this work today and I suppose I shall make good use of this coincidence and thus, take it as an anniversary gift for the manga itself.

This work pictures the message "Westalis × Ostania" which is fully inspired by the special illustration released previously.

Happy 4 years of Spy x Family!! I’m a day late but it’s alright 🥲. This series is truly something special to me and I can’t thank it enough for what it’s done for me, so here’s me trying to do that. Looking forward to next anniversary!

We got a short mission chapter today that takes place prior to the gala!

For some reason, the English version has Anya calling Damian by his actual name in this panel, something I don't think she's done before. But in the original Japanese version, she's still calling him "Sy-on Boy." Both of them calling the other by their actual name seems like a big step in their relationship, so it's weird that the English version did this...maybe it was just an unintentional mistake.

Who was Martha's boyfriend indeed? I don't know but maybe his initials are H.H.

I love that Anya wanted to pick a dress that resembles Yor's ❤️ Also her taking all the "killing" expressions literally was hilarious, such an Anya thing to do!

After the previous chapter, there was so much fan art of Anya practicing dancing with Loid...and it actually ended up being canon!

Nice to see Yor and Bond again, it's been a while...poor Bond though! First he gets stepped on, then wet. At least that wasn't a scalding hot drink!

I like that Loid offered to clean up the spill for Yor. Also that he brings up Plan C again - still waiting for that to become a plot point again!

Also, as an aside for those who haven't seen it yet, Endo made this new illustration last week to celebrate SxF's 5-year anniversary (5 years since chapter 1 was published!)

Thank you Endo for continuing to bring us joy with this amazing series! With the way the story's going, I can definitely see SxF continuing for another 5 years~ Can't wait to see how the plot and characters keep developing 😁

I cannot even begin to describe how Spy x Family has changed my life.

When I first found it, I was struggling, I was at a pretty low point in my life, so I really needed to wholesomeness. Even me watching the show felt rather liberating, because I had a tendency to wait for people to approve of the things I liked, so watching spy x family was a huge “Fuck it, I can do what I want” moment.

I loved the show from the start, I loved the characters, the story, the humor. I felt connected to them right from the get-go. I could relate to Anya for some reason, though as time passes I find myself more connected with Yor and Loid. I initially watched because of Anya, but I stayed for the well written story and interesting stuff.

I started writing more fanfic because of SxF, I was still rather new to it at the time, and you would not believe the confusion I got when I got my first comment. It felt strange to be noticed, to be liked. Life had been hell at the time, and it felt good to know that my writing was actually good. (It wasn’t at the time. I’m always improving)

The community is amazing. I felt welcome right from the start. I made friends, found regulars in my comments section, and I felt like I was making an impact. I don’t think I’m that well known in the fandom, but I hope that I’ve at least impacted one person in this community, made them feel welcome and happy. That’s the least I could do.

It’s almost my one year anniversary of watching the show for the first time, and I just want to say thank you.

random thought about SxF from a former DCMK fan POV

While we had our lunchbreak a few hours ago, my friend sent me the promo-poster for the new Detective Conan movie, because she knows I (used to) like Kaitou Kid and the new one seems to have Kid in it. I can only thought "huh? again? another one already?" and that was it, no care whatsoever.

But... it reminds me about the feeling I got when I saw the SxF movie trailers.

Happy for new content? Absolutely, this movie means Endo-sensei gets all the clout he deserves. Eager to see it when it's available? Hmm, sure. Feeling that this movie will be a masterpiece and will set a new milestone for the series as a whole? Err... to be honest? no.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but upon watching the trailers, what I felt was not high hopes as the hype intended but a subtle sense of dread. It gave off such a big "Conan movie" vibe in my mind: an original action-heavy flick, with a handful dramas, which most likely will have no impact to the plot at all, just adding in as spice to stir up the fans, literally a cash-grab blockbuster of the anime industry.

Furthermore, the problem isn't simply with only the movie. SxF has become The Cash Cow(TM), that's a fact. It has the potential to become another legend like Detective Conan, to be honest. But is it worth celebrating?

Gosho-sensei, author of Conan, used to plan for the manga to end at 20+ volumns (same as Endo-sensei, according to the guide book). But it was such a big hit in the 90s that it still goes on until now, with no ending in sight. In fact, this year Conan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its serialization. The plot of the manga was stretched out so thin that it's not much different from plain water at this point. Most of the longtime fans I know have dropped it and are just waiting for the announcement of the ending.

It makes me wonder, is this the future awaiting for SxF too? Only time can tell. I certainly hope that this is simply just my paranoia talking nonsense.

From the bottom of my heart, I really hope Endo-sensei not only could do the best for his series, but also have the will and power to resist outside influences that could drag his creations into the mud.

Happy 4th anniversary to SPYxFAMILY manga!!! Despite knowing this series because of anime, the manga has a special place in my heart. It’s been a while since a series enthralled me this much. I love everything from the story, characters, art and the messages behind the comedy.

I love when a series makes my brain go “whirr” and leads me to over-analyze every aspect of the story. It’s so much fun! SxF’s characters are all complex and complicated in their own ways and I appreciate Endo-sensei for giving these imperfect characters.

I’m so glad to have made many new friends in the SxF fandom! This fandom is filled with talented writers, artists and creators!

Thank you to Endo-sensei, his editor and all his assistants for bringing to life such a wonderful work! Here’s to many more anniversaries ahead!

Seems like Endo is busy, probably with 5th anniversary events, so we have another short mission today! But first we got this lovely new illustration of Anya with cherry blossoms~❤️

As for the chapter itself, it was cute. Since Bond doesn't talk, whatever he's thinking/feeling isn't always apparent, so chapters that focus solely on him are good to have now and then. Seems like the usual: he's still taking Loid's delegation of him as a guard dog seriously (perhaps too much so)...

...and he still thinks Yor would freak out if he makes a mess (still based on that miscommunication with Anya from chapter 40). However, I also thought it was cute that he wanted to do what Yor said about having a nice meal after "work" (keeping the postman away). Shows that he doesn't only see her as scary 😅

In the Japanese version, Penguinman's dialogue is written totally in katakana, which makes it even more creepy!

But as is typical of Endo, despite the cute, funny mood of this chapter, he manages to slip in a subtle moment of drama - in this case, we get a glimpse into the horrors of the lab that Bond came from.

Having scenes like this in otherwise light, comedic chapters really serves to flesh out the SxF world and its characters, even a simple, mute character like Bond. When we know the trauma that the characters have been through, it makes the wholesome moments that they experience feel all the more rewarding.

And just like the other Forgers, despite what he suffered through, Bond still wants to do good for others, even if it just means licking the wound of a rival.

Can we submit more than one picture of the dog per post? Or offer a couple and you pick? Or can there be multiple posts of a dog as long as they're different pictures/queued far apart (I've seen a few of those on the blog, but can't tell if it was intentional)? And do you want submissions of previous manga entries once the anime is available?

Keeping it to one picture makes the archive page look good lol. But if you want to send multiple for us to pick from that's more than okay. As far as the same dog being featured multiple times there's a few different reasons that occurs over the years, like early on we did a week of the most popular dogs and an anniversary week. Another case could be it's from a different adaptation/art style/etc. (like Potato being featured both from Air and Kaginado, or Iggy from the TV series and the OVA of JoJo).

And yes! If we've done a manga panel of a dog I really want the anime version when available. I'm counting down the days for when I feature Bond from the SxF anime.
