Always Wanted to make a list of my very subjective CoD fic rec list, and also I promised my good buddy @groguspicklejar ( famous author of Beloved series) a list of fic recs, let me list some of my beautiful mutual's and some amazing writers and artists so they can go binge read.

@saltofmercury -Let's start off with the mother of my Mini MacTavish. The one who made me fell in love and hit the nail in the coffin for CoD fandom. If you are into König, her " Break-in" series is a must read. check out her Soap fics too :) Masterlist @floral-force - My bestie! delicious Simon/Ghost fics. American Hospitality is my favourite. Or honeypot is guarantee making you crave for more :)

working on bloodsport while having Thoughts about yuri because holay molay his voice lives in my head rent free

like. wdym he wouldn’t spoon you in the morning, especially when he knows he has to get up. he doesn’t wanna leave, he just wants to spend the morning in bed with you. you’re both barely awake, heavy-lidded eyes threatening to close as you press back into his chest, his body warm and comforting against yours. he doesn’t have a rigid 6-pack and pure dry muscle – he may be a colonel that spends the better part of his free time knocking recruits into the dirt, but he eats like a soldier should.

he’s fit, you know better than anyone else just how strong he is and how far his inhumane stamina stretches, but he’s also broad. his body is befitting a commander, a strong voice to drown out doubt and chaos amongst his troops. there’s no arguing when he gives his soldiers a command. you keen when his body curves around yours, simultaneously trapping you in bed and tucking you into the safest spot in this base: his embrace.

and, for a few minutes, that’s all that happens. you nearly doze off once more, the soft sound of his breathing, the subtle rise and fall of his chest against your back, the steady heartbeat that timed up with yours ages ago; all of it threatens to drag you back to sleep. it isn’t until a familiar sound, deliciously saccharine sweet, breaks the silence, that you start to stir.

“милая…” yuri murmurs, the deep timbre of his voice like fire licking through your veins, igniting in your mind and forcing you to listen. “it’s almost nine, we really should get up.” he adds. again, the gravelly tone that sits low in his chest and vibrates against your back sends a shiver coursing down your spine.

you whine, breathy and weak, fatigue still winning out against your better judgement. “but, it’s cold today…” you argue in a soft voice, fighting off a satisfied grin that tugs at your lips when you hear a chuckle escape him. you know yuri well, he’s anything but a morning person – he’d rather spend the morning in bed than hunched over a desk or whipping men and women into soldiers. he’s only bringing up the time because he wants you to force his hand, to grant him plausible deniability.

“are you saying you will freeze without me?” he whispers, lips brushing against the shell of your ear as his hand leaves your waist to dance up and down your side. it circles the plush of your hip and dips all the way down to your thigh, the slow exhale that leaves you acting as encouragement. “you need me here, милая? hm?”

“yes,” you sigh, the calloused pads of his fingers tracing abstract shapes into your skin. “they’ll be fine without you for a little bit longer…” his touch moves inward, effectively caging you in when he leans over you to draw small circles into the space just above where you’re quickly growing to need him the most.

yuri hums, smooth and low next to your ear, the smug grin that you can’t even see adorning his expression evident in his tone when he whispers a proper reply.

“i guess i can indulge you for just a little while longer.”

listen. i have MANY feelings about his new look. am i appreciative that he’s here at all? yes. am i going to be writing fics based off his reboot lore? absolutely. do i prefer his old look? 100%.

his actor (raphael corkhill) absolutely nailed his performance. it was phenomenal. i have zero complaints about the acting, he exceeded any expectations that i had. i just wish they had casted someone who was slavic (not necessarily russian, none of the russian characters are played by russians anyway lol) and looked a little more like OG yuri.

his voice? show-stopping. i held my breath the first time i heard it. i loved OG yuri’s voice (brian bloom <3) and somehow they’ve managed to top it. i literally fell asleep fantasizing purely about his voice last night – it is that amazing. and his chuckles, his little hums? i can’t get over it.

and the height upgrade? OG yuri was 5’11/180cm. reboot yuri is roughly 6’2/188cm, comparing him to laswell. his actor is only 5’8, so it was definitely an intentional move lol. they wanted him tall.

this isn’t a full review because i honestly haven’t seen everything yet. there’s apparently extra dialogue that laswell and nikolai say about him that a lot of people keep missing. supposedly, he used to work for barkov, just like makarov. nowadays, he’s affiliated with the kastovian armed forces. i like the change, it’s something new while still calling back to his OG backstory.

whenever i write reboot yuri – it’s with the OG’s face in mind lmao. new guy did great, but i’m going with what i prefer to look at, which is OG.

bonus blurry yuri because the phrase “blurry yuri” makes me giggle, it rhymes <3
