POVERTY SOLUTIONS
Political Exclusion â Controlling the Narrative and Retaining Power Prescription 6: Strengthening Grassroots Movements Too often, top-down governance excludes the very communities it claims to serve. Decisions are made without meaningful input from those most impacted, resulting in policies that perpetuate cycles of dependency, inequality, and disempowerment. This video explores Prescription 6: Strengthening Grassroots Movementsâa vital response to political exclusion. By investing in local leadership, organizing infrastructure, and community-driven solutions, we can shift power from centralized institutions to the people on the ground. Grassroots organizing empowers communities to advocate for their own needs, build resilience, and lead systemic change. Sociologically, grassroots movements challenge entrenched power structures and unite diverse groups through shared struggle. Spiritually, we reflect on how Jesus began with ordinary peopleâfishermen, tax collectors, the poorârevealing that true transformation often rises from the margins. We spotlight movements like Occupy Wall Street and the Poor Peopleâs Campaign, which have elevated marginalized voices and demanded justice in the face of economic, racial, and environmental oppression. This is more than a policyâitâs a call to action. Because empowered people empower change. đ Subscribe for more insights on grassroots strategies and systemic justice. đ˘ Join the conversation. Exponential Lessons for Systems Action
Designing for a new post-linear mindset to deal with the exponential change effects from today. My thoughts on what to design in. #change #systemschange
What does systemic change at an exponential level look like? Look around and youâll see why a new approach to perceiving the world is now critical. The first question above is answered below: Whether itâs area burned (above) or carbon emissions (below), the Canadian wildfire situation is a start and gigantic example of what exponential change looks like. This is one example from one largeâŚ

I think the Ellen Macarthur Foundation does some pretty great work on pushing for a Circular Economy - I like this guide on upstream innovation for packaging.
It looks at the bigger picture by tracing the problem back to its root cause and tackling it there - this leads to questions not only around the material, but of the entire product itself, as well as the business model around it.
Hereâs a nice little videos as a teaser, more on their youtube channel.

Dinsdag 1 september â Leerzame tip weer van Peter Bogaards: Designing for systems-level change and transitions towards more sustainable futures.
Transitioning entire societies towards more sustainable, long-term futures is what Thomas Berry called the âgreat workâ of the 21st century. It will involve ongoing system change over long horizons of time. And it will challenge us to develop a deep understanding of complex systems, their anatomy and dynamics. Which will require new knowledge and skillsets, new mindsets and postures, which will give rise to new ways of designing.

Weâre Failing Our Children
Weâre failing our children In their education The very foundation Of the survival of our race
Weâre failing our children Not because theyâre lazy or rude Not because theyâre queer or in a bad mood Not because theyâre anything, or everything, we donât like
Weâre failing our children Because we didnât teach them We didnât show them We didnât help them know how to survive
They know addition before vegetables And ketchup, that counts They know algebra and taxonomy Before why mommy shouts
They know money and time Like an eternal rule As if everyone didnât feel As if they were both rather cruel
They know i before e except after c Before they learn adults Are destroying the seas
They learn YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, and Insta Before they know court order Or government Or why maybe the latter are run by the former
But more than that More than any issue Of failing to teach them any practical knowledge For the life in the system, the one that we built We never once mentioned Things like shame or guilt Anger, sadness, frustration, embarrassment Rejection, depression, or even content
No, we didnât teach them about what theyâd encounter From day one In this meager human life Where we think weâre the top The best and the brightest We think that weâve won But no, weâve only just begun
So hereâs the truth I warn you Itâs cold and itâs harsh But we need to accept it If we donât, then, weâre living a farce
Weâre not Weâre not at the top Weâre not the best Weâre not the brightest or better than the rest Weâre barely surviving In a system that no longer serves us Where nobodyâs thriving And nobodyâs heard us
We donât know connection We bury emotion We say, itâs OK Thereâs no cause for commotion When inside weâre dying We donât know who to trust So we say nothing And go on our day And fail to consider THEREâS ANOTHER WAY
Weâre failing our children Because we believe in a system A system that broke us And taught us never to listen
My family I call you Thatâs what we are Those with eyes will see Those with ears will hear WE NEED TO MOVE ON WE CANNOT STAY HERE
Weâre failing our children Because we still donât know How to take action Responsibility Initiative
Weâre failing our children Believing in a tomorrow That mirrors today As if things stayed the same Never going astray
Thatâs not how it works Never has, never will Mother nature moves on With or without you
So donât slow down Donât give up or give in Because this is a battle I want to fucking win

A Framework for Thinking about Complex Change
