Crossed the Kazungula border into Botswana on March 8th, ferry crossing the Zambezi River... The Locosciclos already crossed the border a day earlier. I missed the last ferry at 6 pm for just 10mins...my previous drive train repair robbed me some time. Hello Botswana! After cycling two days in nonstop rain, Dan and I woke up in a traditional hut. We didn't catch up with Byron and Quincy that evening because we took too much time taking pictures and enjoying the rain. In the evening we decided to look for a place to camp and asked some people if we could pitch our tents on their farm...the people were super nice and gave us a dry hut and invited us over to a bonfire...Dan played the guitar and made the special atmosphere perfect. We knew that the guys camped in a school about 16km ahead of us...so we pushed hard to catch up. Unfortunately there wasn't any food available for a good stretch, everyone was super happy to find a tiny shop or person on the road every now and then who was selling a little something to keep us going. Finally, no rain...yeahhh...it was a great day with lots of nice encounters, friendly people, and a lake swim for the locosciclos. Cycling out of the Usambara Mountains and the last days with Niko We left the Usambara mountains via Soni and Funta to Korogwe. After Soni there was a lot of steep climbing on dirt tracks. Luckily the view was rewarding most of the time...rain forest, wide range mountain view and tee plantations made the way very epic. If we wouldn't have been time limited, this is definitely an area for further exploration. We made it to Korogwe in darkness after about 100km. The next two days we just speeded down to Tanga on tarmac and then over the border to Kenya and reached Mombasa in time. Niko used his last day for packing the bike in a box and we had some last drinks together at the beach. After three and a half fun weeks it was time to say good bye. The dudes on tour in Kenya...😎 Cycled in the last days from Mwatate through the Tsavo West National Park, to Taveta and then took a bad dirt road to Loitokitok. Despite some shy zebras we were not fortunate enough to spot more wildlife...anyway the scenery is very epic.
