Allman Brothers Band
Stormy Monday (Live At Fillmore East, March 13, 1971)
youtube
At Fillmore East by the Allman Brothers was recorded over two nights — March 12 and 13, 1971 — for which the band was paid $1,250 each show.
The Allman Brothers never intended to make their first live album, per se; they simply wanted to make their third overall album, and they recognized they were better onstage than in a controlled studio environment. Their self-titled 1969 debut, recorded five months after their first show, felt chastened, its straitlaced production and relatively short songs drawing the reins fast on a spirited young racehorse. Their second album, Idlewild South, worked to showcase a softer and more commercially viable side. Sure, it sounded good, but it also sounded dated upon arrival, a folk-rock reverie from a band that was best when it was wide-awake, very high, and very loud. “We get kind of frustrated doing the records,” Duane admitted at the start of the ’70s, noting that the stage was where they found their “natural fire.”

In honor of MatPat retiring, I’d like to thank all of the YouTubers who made getting out of bed worth it when I was a child. I’d like to thank you all for helping me choose to live each day I needed to make that choice.
Matpat: You gave me so much information and I don’t know if I could have kept my curiosity without you. You taught me the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells long before my first test on their differences.
Stampylonghead: Your shorts and their behind the scenes that you made taught me about the creative process. Plus the first season of your Wonder Quest series gave me something to laugh at in a life I wanted to give up on.
Stacyplays: You gave me an appreciation for nature and humans that never faded. Your book series gave me comfort this Christmas when I was spending it away from family for the first time. Not to mention Dogcraft gave me so many joyful memories to look back upon.
Katzun: Your earliest videos struck a cord with me when they first came out. And I was figuring out my identity when you came out. It’s because of you that I have been able to accept myself on my own self-journey.
Illymation: Your stories with your ex were words of caution. Your stories in general helped me accept I wasn’t alone in my feelings.
JaidenAnimations and The Odd 1’s out: You inspired me, on nights when I felt low you were there with a new video to lift me up. You both taught me things that stuck with me and gave me a passion for animation and art.
Tabbes: You were and are down to earth and quite pessimistic, exactly what I needed when brooding. You taught me about the lessons that I’d need to understand from a childhood I never had.
Minute Earth: You answered questions I had yet to even ask. I learned much about the natural world from you and grew to appreciate it better.
Dominic’s: You taught me about college, a place I never thought I’d get to attend. Your slugbooks review saved me when I had to buy books my first time.
Aphmau: Before your quality went down the shitter, I loved everything you created, it all taught me so much about quality writing and building tension properly.
I know I’m probably missing some people but these guys made my childhood worth surviving.

In middle school, I started watching a lot of storytime animators when they started blowing up on YouTube. I even based some of my own characters on the simple designs of those youtubers, even the lack of skin color that most of them seemed to exhibit, and it was one of the first things that made me want to start creating my own characters.
I don't really watch them at all anymore, though I'm sure I would still have a good time with it if I started doing it again. Tabbes was one of my favorites, I liked how blunt she was. Even with most of the drawings in her videos basically being stick figures, they were still very enjoyable

(No colored words, just a ramble)
Yes, I still watch YouTube Animators. Yes, I watched them after the whole blowup in 2017ish (I started watching them in 2021, mind you). Yes, it’s one of the only things I watch on a daily basis. But you have to understand, they motivate me to draw and animate everyday. They have shown TONS of growth over the years, and they should be appreciated more for than what it’s worth. Yes, we have AWESOME indie animation projects like Lackadaisy, The Amazing Digital Circus, Far-Fetched, etc, but we have them too, wether it be big or small. There are people my age who are willing to do the same thing and who are inspired by those people too. PLEASE, appreciate animators on YouTube because they deserve a LOT more love and support.
Thank you.
Please reblog if you can to spread the word.

space stations? 👀
Yeah!!! While most of the ocs are on a couple different planets, some of em live on space stations, for either research or travel purposes, though some just sorta prefer it. Halt and Tabb live on a research station, and Lucas, Urge, and Russell all live on a civilian one!

Inside the house Louis and I found heaven. Four college girls and a bathtub filled with grain alcohol and Hawaiian punch.
“Listen George,” said Sally, in a sort of firm voice, “grain alcohol is very strong stuff—it can make you extremely drunk.”
I told Sally that I drank it all the time and that I was a pro. She gave me that look that said “she knew” again.
Four or five huge plastic cups of grain and punch later, I found myself making out with Sally on Ginny’s couch. The Ramones’ Road To Ruin was playing, and every few minutes I’d stop kissing her, stand up, and sing along with words like “Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go, I wanna be sedated!”
Sally and I continued to make out like crazy, and somehow I had managed to get her shirt up around her neck. I was kissing her nipples, and really getting into it, when I turned and saw Louis looking at us.
“What are you looking at, wus?” I yelled at Louis.
He said nothing and just smiled as he drank another cup of grain and punch.
I then looked over to the other side of the room and saw Marlene, Tammy, and Sally watching us go at it. “Cool,” I thought.
I went back to kissing Sally’s nipples. They were big and round. But somehow I had always imagined them being smaller. As I touched her breasts, I imagined them as always being smaller too. No matter.
I continued to kiss and make out with Sally, and actually took my shirt off. I was getting all hot and sweaty, and was wondering when Sally would invite me into a private room to “do it.”
“I used to have a name, bad bad brain,” I sang along to the Ramones album as I stood up for the umpteenth time. Then, as I fell back on the couch with Sally, I looked over at everyone watching us again. Louis was still smiling, as were Marlene, Sally, and Tammy.
I started kissing again, then it hit me. Sally was watching me.
How could she be watching me, and making out with me?
My heart started to beat real fast and I quickly came to the conclusion that I was dead, and that this was all some sort of vision right before Satan would come up from Hades, grasp my soul, and take me to a place that was hot and mean. Like Florida. Only worse.
I looked down at Sally again, and this time, really tried to focus my eyes. She looked all fuzzy, and topless. I looked again, and again, and finally saw that I was making out with Ginny. Dr. Scott. I was fucking making out with Dr. Scott! Blech.
I jumped off the couch, yelled something about not liking old German men, heard everyone laugh at me, and that was the last thing I remembered.
—George Tabb, from Maximum Rocknroll #251 (April 2004)
