Hi!! Today I’m sharing a little vignette I put together for #underthisclochetuesday. My cloche is placed on an antique brown Transferware soap dish with no cover. These are perfect pieces for a small cloche as they make for pretty, elevated stands. What’s under this cloche is a Royal Doulton bunnykins figurine dressed as a worker in the early days of the Staffordshire Potteries. Over to the right is another Royal Doulton loving cup which has a raised image of just a few of the thousands of bottle kilns that once made up the Staffordshire skyline (I have two...one is for sale in my shop). This week our CSA came with fresh sweet corn. I’m so happy. I love sweet corn with fresh whipped butter and a touch of salt. Fresh tomatoes and fresh corn are the tastes of summer. August is harvest season in farm country. // Food styling and photography is a love of mine. I like editorial shots that are more rustic and that’s exactly what this is - we shot it on the floor during the photoshoot of one of our kitchen designs. It was a great day of play with surfaces, plating and linens. // I love to pull things together into an arrangement on a page. I look for different textures and edges to create a story. One of my favorite things to do on an interior styling project are the coffee tables.  I set out to style this Noguchi coffee table 3 different ways.  Here is the 3rd way... My inspiration for this one was a well traveled photographer.  I incorporated a variety of elements from his travels.  This color palette of browns, black & naturals was the goal.  The Crate & Barrel suede area rug gave us our different neutral color choices to draw from.  The Sleek black lamp can be pivoted to any point of the table for light.  I then chose this cool brown vintage camera which was a NY antique shop find.  I always love one or a few good coffee table books.  In this set-up,  I chose 5 different photo books laid out on the table without trying to overwhelm it. I created a table tray utilizing a round ceramic decorative plate from his travels through Mexico.  This truly grounds & organizes items like the diptyque candle, modern round vase & matches I chose. The other tray holds a vibrant succulent plant along side a feather & horn-ended magnifying Lupe.  Highlighting a coin engraved saying “Let’s Stay In”. :-)

Adjacent to the tray,  I put some other personal mementos scattered about like a cognac colored leather frame with his wedding photo in it.  Also a monogrammed notepad that is propped up on a African inspired tray.  The piece of drift wood was found on Zuma beach & it just added a natural architectural  element to the whole look. 

Styling Tip: A NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTES CAN  BE LAYERED W/ TEXTURE & SHAPES TO CREATE MORE INTEREST.

Grateful. That's what this shot means to me. There was a showroom #miromardesigncenter #mpinteriors that loaned us this beautifully beaded Nigerian headdress for this shot. The owner, Mark Fanta, was not only gracious and kind, he was so appreciative of beautiful objects. I love that showroom for all it's variety, authenticity and inspiration. // What I appreciate about this business of shooting on location is the chance to meet designers and retailers with new collections. We are kindred spirits interested in learning about each other's work. Another great resource is @angela_fine_furnishings where we sourced the pale blue table. She loaned it to us without hesitation and it was the perfect size for this beaded headdress. // I loved this beaded headdress so much I bought a less expensive one for my own collection and shipped it back to Minneapolis. Somehow the hand beaded bird for the top of my piece got thrown out and in a panic I called Tim (the photographer for our project) in tears. I will never forget how he pulled out the garbage from the dumpster and helped me go through it.
